Graduate student Raina Sun is trying to keep her head above water as the bills roll in when her dashing college adviser cons her out of several months of rent. But her quest to get her money back sets into a motion a streak of bad luck.
First, she finds the dead body of an ex-lover and becomes the prime suspect to his murder. The only man she ever loved reappears as the lead detective to the … detective to the case and wants to reignite their passion (or at least he’s sending out smoke signals).
Her life careens out of control as her grandma moves into Raina’s postage-stamp-sized apartment, dragging a red suitcase and trouble.
Raina summons her sleuthing skills to extract herself before things get dicey. There is no place for an amateur when it comes to murder.
For readers who like cozy mysteries, quirky characters, and a dash of humor.

An enjoyable read with a quirky heroine!
This was my first book by Anna Tan. I loved it, it was so good. I liked the little bit of romance along with the mystery. Excellent book.
Cute book
I did not like the main character, she had too many things wrong with her.
Cozy little mystery. Easy read.
Liked the characters and their interaction. It was interesting to see how they thought thru the details of. The story. Want to read more and see if the two will finally “see the light” .
Hilarious
Really makes me want to read the series!
What wonderful characters!
Nice light summer reading
The book was a great story and very enjoyable. I loved the Grandma! Not all endings are perfect.
I use my Kindle for relaxed reading! This is it!
The book was good, but there were too many characters and circumstances.
Good stress reducer.
Characters you want to invite out for lunch. A storyline that moves nicely without racing too quickly to the end – giving you time to enjoy.
Looking forward to the next in the series.
Fun read
It was a great read. Never lulled a any point. Read it on my treadmill every day as I was exercising.
A very enjoyable read, great characters and plot. Lots of intrigue and chuckles along the way.
Original characters, not easy to figure out.
Lots of people were found dead
