Rage (The Marcy series Book 1)
By: Linda Burson
5 out of 5 stars
The story Rage (The Marcy series Book 1) by Linda Burson is a book that I enjoyed reading. It is a story that draws you in and didn’t let me go until I have read the final page. It is a book that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Marcy and Liam. Marcy is an intelligent, beautiful, and feisty woman. She runs a business and some of those who work with her are more like family than employees. The love of her life has given her an ultimatum to seek help for her anger, frustrations because of nightmares that she is having. She also is a woman who finds herself falling in love with Liam. Liam is a man who is on a quest to find those responsible for his family’s murder and finds an ally in Marcy. Liam’s character is mysterious and as the story unfolds I found myself with many questions about him. Marcy is conflicted and at times overwhelmed. Read this story for an emotional rollercoaster that will have you turning pages wondering what will happen next. There are other characters that are introduced in this story and many of them I enjoyed reading about and their interactions with Marcy. There is intense dialogue. I grew to care about Marcy and there are situations in which I could empathize with her and what she experiences. This is a wonderful book to read and one that will keep you reading far into the night to find out what happens. Recommended reading.
Linda Burson’s RAGE, book one of The Marcy Series is an incredible mishmash of emotional, steamy, and thrilling events. This is actually the second time I’ve read Linda’s debut novel, which inexplicably tells you how high the reading value is. I thoroughly enjoyed how Marcy’s character, our main focus of the series, is believable–yet she’s also brimming with impeccable complexity, which I find rather refreshing and genuine. Marcy’s charismatic magnetism is a splash of colorful water in an otherwise dark ocean of chaotic emotions. Couple all of that along with Marcy’s interesting, and albeit dimensional relationships…it all makes it hard to put this book down!
Give this book a try if you’re looking for a series you can commit to; there are nine books out currently, with four more coming soon! 5 stars!
Rage: Book One of the Marcy Series
Burson has a unique voice and way of storytelling that is engaging and thought provoking. I have actually read this series out of order (unintentionally) and am glad to finally see how it all begins. This page turner had a bit of a slow start at the very beginning but quickly picked up pace and set the stage for a great story and great series. Very enjoyable.
Rage (The Marcy series Book 1) by Linda Burson starts us down the rabbit hole that is Marcy’s life. When we start this journey it looks like Marcy has everything a girl could ask for. A good job, a nice home, and a loving fiancée are all hers. Then the nightmares start. Before long the sleepless nights begin to take their toll on her and it gets to the point where her fiancée demands that she either get help or he’s leaving. It is at this point that things begin to take a left turn into the bizarre. After a life threatening event pushes her over the edge Marcy meets Liam and agrees to help him find and take revenge against the man that killed his family.
This was an interesting book to say the least. The plot is very much dialogue driven and every conversation has a feeling of authenticity to it that can be hard to find in some books. The dramatic and suspenseful elements were very well done and helped to keep me interested. All in all a solid five star read and I look forward to reading the next in this series.
Rage by Linda Burson is the first book in the Marcy Series. A thrilling book and the great start to the series.
Marcy is plagued by nightmares. It is effecting her life to the point of her boyfriend telling her to get help or she loses him.
When Marcy finds herself held at gunpoint in the middle of a robbery everything comes to a head and her rage boils over.
When she meets Liam and is presented with an opportunity that could change her life she knows that she has to take it. It could be exactly what she needs to turn things back around.
Having read previous books by Linda Burson I was looking forward to getting into this series. From the moment I started reading I knew I would love this. I found myself easily getting involved in the story and the characters. This was a thrilling story and grips you all the way through. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
O-M-G! This book has an appropriate name, lol. To be honest, I had a difficult time getting through the first half of the book. I didn’t feel like the story was moving fast enough, HOWEVER the last half of the book gets interesting. Of course, you have to read the first part to get all of the background info so I kind of have a love/hate relationship with it. It ends in a cliffhanger just as things are getting good. I kind of wanted to pitch my Kindle across the room. And, now I’m going to have to read the other books in the series because I’m no quitter and it has a lot of potential to be a phenomenal story as it goes on.
Marcy has been having nightmares for four months causing her to be full of rage. She’s lashing out at everyone and everything. Her anger is causing a problem, both with her employees and her boyfriend. She’s become so unpredictable that no one wants to be around her. They’ve all mentioned that maybe she should get some help, but she is in denial. Finally, her boyfriend decides that he loves her, but he can’t be with her if she keeps on going down the same path. Marcy is devastated, but she still refuses to admit she has a problem.
One night, Marcy stops at a gas station to fill up when a gunman tries to rob her and the store. Surging with rage, Marcy takes down the guy. What Marcy doesn’t know is that this catches the attention of a man, Liam, that decides she is perfect to help him on his personal quest for justice.
With her relationship on uncertain footing, Marcy agrees to help Liam, which leads her life down an unexpected path.
This is an interesting story. I felt like I was waiting for the other shoe to drop the entire time I was reading this book. The plot is a good one with the main character Marcy experiencing some unexplained nightmares and rage. Her boyfriend Brad tries to make her understand that people are beginning to fear her. This just makes her angrier. Brad is by no means perfect and has his own problems. This couple gets engaged but sadly it doesn’t last long when they discover they have major problems to work out. Because Marcy didn’t have enough going on in her crazy life she meets Liam.
I enjoyed this story because I experienced a range of emotions with the characters from their experiences. A little rage myself at the hospital scene. I have found that Brad tends to bring out my worst feelings. However, when Marcy meets Liam, that relationship brings out my swoony type feelings. (Although I think they are rushing things.)
I did not think that Marcy’s rage was all that out of control. Although when she learned to control it she seemed to be able to rather quickly. I think there could have been more situations where she was out of control. There were situations where she should have been out of control but she was rather passive. Marcy is a very likeable character and I cannot wait to see how and when Burson gives Marcy a happily ever after.
Rage is book 1 in the Marcy Series written by Linda Burson. Rage is the first book by this author that I have read. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and free flowing drama that made up this story.
Marcy was a complex character in many ways, but very simple in others. She also was ramatically erratic. That just made her more endearing. I did not warm to the love of her life quickly or completely. I think he has something he is hiding. Liam is a total different matter entirely. He was a puzzle just busting to be solved. There were many ups and downs throughout, and I lost my way a little, but overall it was a mighty fine read. The story flowed reasonably well, with intrigue, mystery and lots of action. This book was very active and the characters were a delight to get to know.
Linda Burson penned an entertaining and fast paced story, with suspense aplenty. A thoroughly splendid story which will leave a reader hungry for more from this author. 4 stars.
Rage is the first book in the Marcy series by Linda Burson and there is a whole lot going on in this story, twist and turns at every step of the way. Just when you thought you knew what was happening BAM you were thrown for a loop. This is a romantic thriller full of action and drama, suspense and a whole lot of mystery and murder.
Marcy is plagued by horrible nightmares and rage and she doesn’t know why. Realising things are not as they seem Marcy knows she needs help. But when that helps comes Marcy finds herself in a fight for her own sanity and a path that she never expected.
If you like romances with a bit of danger, and suspense then this is one you should read.
4 Stars
Rage is the first instalment of The Marcy series by Linda Burson. After reading The Colors of My Life, I knew I would be reading more of Ms. Burson’s work- so when I saw this I just had to read it.
This book is nothing like I expected. It has so much going on in it, I was trying to figure out where the author was taking the story, but then she would throw in a twist and had me guessing all over again.
Life was going really well for Marcy- right up until the nightmares begin to erode the life she had built for herself. These nightmares are so intense and horrible, that they interfere with her sleep, make her anxious, unpredictable, and impacts on her day to day life. Her lack of sleep gets to a critical point, when her fiancé demands that she do something about it, get some help- or he was leaving her. This pushes Marcy right to the edge, where rage consumes every molecule of her being. Then one night, Marcy happens to be at a gas station on the way home when a gunman tries robbing the store and her. All her rage erupts, and she ends up taking the gunman down.
This brings her to the attention of Liam, who has an agenda of his own, and thinks Marcy would be perfect to help him in his quest. This sets them both on a path that neither expected.
Another great story from Ms. Burson. This romantic suspense is well written with action, drama, some mystery and excitement. I’m looking forward to the next book!
Thank you, Ms. Burson!
Rage (The Marcy series Book 1) by Linda Burson is a suspenseful romance story. I enjoy this author’s stories, her writing is easy flowing and creative. This story was a little slow starting but once I picked up on the character then it was easy flowing after that. This story centers itself around all aspects of the main characters life. This story will show you that even though we are free to make choices as we want, there is always consequences for those choices. This is the story of Marcy and her life. Marcy finds herself in a situation where she is angry, frustrated and faced with a choice. She is having nightmares that is causing her grief so she either needs to get help or she will lose her love. Will one night change everything for her? This is where the suspense starts and the twists and turns will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat just waiting to see what will happen next with Marcy. What will happen when she falls for another man? Will jealousy rear its ugly head? What will happen when Marcy goes on a journey of finding herself? Her story is one of betrayal and vengeance, once I got past the first few chapters, I couldn’t put her story down. All the characters in this book seem to be intertwined with each other. I didn’t care for some of the characters and how they treated Marcy but they are necessary to make the story flow. I highly recommend this story, I know you will want to see how Marcy finds herself. I can’t wait for the second book to see what happens next.
Rage- Linda Burson
4-star review
Rage by Linda Burson is the first book in The Marcy Series and it’s certainly one interesting read. There is never a dull moment as its action packed with murder, love, new connections, and new understandings. This book was nothing like I was expecting, there was so much more to it than what I had originally thought. I will admit I found it hard to get into in the beginning as it was a bit confusing and I found the interactions between the characters to be really formal and not as real but as I continued to read I became more and more invested.
There were lots of twists and turns that kept me on my toes, I was constantly trying to predict the outcome, yet time and time again I was wrong and left with so many questions. Marcy was certainly a complex character, she’s angry, aggressive, troubled, and sometimes clueless. Her character really developed throughout this story, and while I didn’t agree with most of her actions she was a fun character to read about.
I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series so I can see the story through to the end and to get answers to all my questions.
Rage (Marcy Series Book 1) by Linda Burson was a great start to a great series. I have read the others, and I really enjoyed them all, but I think this book is but far my favorite. The story line and character development had me wanting more from the beginning. I really enjoy this authors writing style and will continue to read anything she writes. Overrall I give this book a solid 5 stars. Cant get enough!
Rage (The Marcy Series #1) by Linda Burson was an exciting heart pounding read that had me hooked from start to finish.
The first book in this crazy, outstanding series (I’ve been reading them a little out of order), and I’m so happy to have finally gotten to read the book where it all started. Detailed, and full of twist, turns, misdirects, this book was sometime to behold. I very much had a time reading this book, and I’m mad at myself for not reading it sooner. To backtrack and to witness were Marcy started, was wow, it was a real wow moment for me. This book is a must read for everyone that’s looking for an original fresh read that will teas your mind, and have you going, What just happened?
This book, this series, gets my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval.
Happy Reading

Rage ( The Marcy Series Book 1) by Linda Burson. This is the where it all started. The very beginning. I’ve read all the books so now we are back to square one and it did not disappoint! This is the story of Marcy and her having nightmares that are causing her life to fall apart. Her partner tells her to get help or they are done. In the midst of all this she is held at gunpoint during a Robbery, she meets Liam and vows to help him find his parents murderers. Liam and Marcy begin to have feelings for each other and she’s never felt like this before. This love is new to Marcy, its kind, positive and happy. Jealousy, confusion, and heartbreak are in the works with her old love. Marcy really thinks she can have a happy future with Liam. Will she be able to help him heal from his parents murder or find the murderers? Will their future work out? Read Rage to find out!
I really do love a suspense romance novel, this story build me in right from the very start and it had me on my toes and gripping the edge of my seat there was so many twists and turns certainly things happened I wasn’t expecting!! I loved Marcy she’s a great character and boy she is going through so much you can completely understand why she’s feeling so much rage and frsutration! You will be sucked in and won’t be able to set it down, also I will warn you now it ends on a cliffhanger…..
A great read about anger. Marcy has been struggling at life with constant nightmares filling her dreams. This sleep deprivation makes her aggravated and his anger invades her life, making her explode over the smallest things. When her boyfriend leaves her over it, she gets even more angry.. One night when trying to get some petrol, she is held at gunpoint and her anger full explodes. Afterwards, she meets Liam, a man on a quest for revenge. Following on this quest for revenge, Marcy uses her anger to help him find the answers. But along the way she discovers love and feelings. Can anger truly solve all your problems?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Brad trying to be supportive but having a breaking point or Jill wise and kind but also funny and caring. Great cast of supporting characters like the charming Rita or the chatty Sal. However, I felt that Marcy was too angry to be likeable. I felt this anger was too melodramatic, as sleep deprivation and nightmares only make you so grumpy and not to that extent. If this was toned down, it would be more believable and relatable.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the coffee shop full of life and people and colourful décor comforting and welcoming with its smells of coffee and tastes of lemon meringue pie so strong its as if you’re actually there. Or the sense of the busy city with its traffic fullof noise and people. I also liked the contrast from the bright yellows of the past and the grey rains and blacks of the present to indicate her mood changes wonderfully written.
The flashbacks worked well to display how things have changed and didn’t disrupt too much from the narrative of the present. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.
Rage is Book 1 in The Marcy Series by Linda Burson. This book had a lot of suspense in it. I didn’t like the character of Marcy I’m the book because I just felt like she caused her own issues. Just when you think her life is on track she causes more issues.
Marcy is the owner of a coffee shop. She has been dating Brad for a very long time but they start to have problems because she has this rage in her and no one knows why. She just snaps at people for no reason. Brad basicallly tells her, she needs to seek help, or he is gone. Finally she decides to seek out professional help and that makes Brad very happy. They have great times together and then he decides to take their relationship to the next level. Marcy is over the moon with happiness. The reader is happy and thinks this book is on the right track.
Marcy met a man named Liam when her and Brad were having some issues. Liam approaches Marcy after she is involved is a gas station robbery. Of course now that Marcy is happy with the way her life is going, something bad happens. Brad is away for work and keeps trying to reach Marcy but is unable to. She is to busy out all the time with Liam she forgets to charge her cell phone. This causes all sorts of trouble between Marcy and Brad.
Marcy is heartbroken over her recent breakup with Brad and ends up going away for a week with Liam so he can teach her about firearms. He teaches her about different firearms and how to shoot them. Of course during their week together, they get romantically involved. During that time Brad is looking all over for her.
When Marcy comes back home and speaks with Brad, je Fonda our about Liam. And forgives her for being unfaithful which she really wasn’t considering they were broken up.
I just thought this book was very long and had a lot more pages then it needed.
Marcy needs to break off her relationship with Liam if her and Brad will be able to be happy. Will her and Brad be able to go back to the happiness they once had or will everything be ruined because of the plans Marcy has to help Liam with.
Rage (The Macy Series book 1) by Linda Burson
4 Stars!!!!
I am so in a bad habit of reading books out of order in series and this one was no different. I have to admit that I still found things to be easy to follow. This is the first book in the series and I feel that it was a good chance to better get to grips with what I have already read of the series and a way to get a little more insight.
I really felt for Macy and I really was grateful for the chance to really get to understand and see what happened in her past and what brought her to be the Macy that I had read about. I really liked the opportunity to see how her and Brad began and what events really shaped what was to happen between them and how their relationship evolved. I also was grateful to help put the timeline together of how Liam entered her life and also watch that relationship evolve. The author really did a great unique job of setting the series off and I am glad that I am able to put a few pieces of the missing puzzle in the series together and really cannot wait to read more from this author.
Rage by Linda Burson is book one of The Marcy Series. This book is a suspenseful romance book.
Marcy has been suffering from nightmares and no matter what she does, they don’t stop. Marcy is presented an ultimatum- get help or be left by the person that should love her enough to stay. After a series of events, Marcy meets Liam and much to her surprise, realizes she may be falling in love with him. These feelings put Marcy in a tough spot and jealousy and uncertainty ensue.
This book was enjoyable to read. It didn’t feel predictable and I waited to see what would happen. I absolutely recommend this book!
