While young Jessie Colby cleans for Dexter Medical Industry, she accidentally stumbles over a man in chains who claims to be a hybrid between human and alien. His aggressive behavior frightens her, but she can’t just ignore his abuse, so she takes his picture and reports his fate to the media. Ten years later, Jessie signs a contract to work as a doctor in the West-Colony on planet Eden, where … Eden, where the Alien Breeds live since their rescue. All those years she couldn’t forget the man in chains. But when she stands before him again, he is not happy at all to see her.
Years of abuse and pain lay behind Rage, but what tortures him most, is his memory of the beautiful young woman who worked for DMI. Even ten years after, she still hounds him in his sleep. Then she suddenly stands right in front of him. Finally he could make her pay for what she did to him, but when he has her at his mercy, killing her is the last thing on his mind. His beast wants her. But if he looses control of his alien side, the fragile human could end up hurt or dead.
The lieutenant took my hand and led me to the dance floor. He turned out to be a good dancer. With ease he whirled me across the dance floor so that people soon made room to watch us. I had more fun than I’ve had in a long time and was all smiles. My smile froze when I was suddenly ripped from the Lieutenant’s arms and collided with a hard body.
“Hey!”, Lieutenant Green said and stood up to Rage, who had pushed me behind him, and I realized with horror where this was going.
Not another fight!
“Jessie is off-limits,” Rage growled warningly. “Have I made myself clear? I’m taking her home now. She had too much to drink and I won’t let some son of a bitch think he can take advantage of her!”
“She’s a grown woman and doesn’t need a babysitter”, said Lieutenant Green. “Now fuck off!”
I grabbed Rage’s arm and forced myself between them.
“Please”, I said. “No pressure. Thank you for the dance, Lieutenant Green”, I said to the Lieutenant, then I turned to Rage. “If you want to take me home that’s fine, but we have to talk!”
Rage glanced at the lieutenant, then he nodded, and I breathed a sigh of relief. He grabbed me by the arm and led me to the door. Outside I tore myself away from him and glared at him angrily.
“What was that all about? Have you lost your mind?”
“You are drunk”, Rage replied, and grabbed me to pull me along with him.
Furiously I stumbled after him.
“So what”, I asked. “Why do you care if I’m drunk or not?”
I braced myself against his pull and he paused and stared at me.
“I’m not gonna let anyone take advantage of you, Jessie. I will tuck you into bed where you belong!”
I leaned against him and looked up.
“Are you going to keep me company in bed?” I asked, made brave by the alcohol.
“No”, Rage growled, but I could feel his erection as I pressed my body closer to his. He took a breath and I saw something flashing in his eyes.
“I want it, Rage”, I said in a hoarse voice and I meant every word of it. “Fuck me!”
“I said NO”, he growled and pushed me away to keep me at arm’s length. “You will go to bed, like I said, and get some sleep. I am the last one who would take advantage of your … situation.”
“Situation?!” I exclaimed upset. “You think if I was sober, I wouldn’t want to fuck you?”
“You’re the most exhausting damn woman I’ve ever met”, he said pressingly. “Everything would be so much easier if you got used to doing what’s right.”
“And what would that be?” I asked snippily.
“You do what I tell you. It’s that simple!”
I laughed mockingly.
“Do what you say?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Right”, he said coldly. “And now you will come with me and don’t bitch with me anymore, otherwise I’ll bend you over my knee and give you what you deserve!”
“Maybe I’d like that”, I teased him.

I liked the storyline, the characters, the flow of the story…I was hoping for a bit more. After the sex they’d had, I was hoping that Jessie was also pregnant. I would’ve liked to have seen Rage as a father.
MY RATING REASONS: I downloaded this eBook at the beginning of the year and finally decided to read it. It was a free novel and it was not borrowed through KU. This eBook was shorter than I expected, and I think if it was longer it would have answered some of the questions I have. I have read the other reviews that state the author is German and this novel is translated. Although some reviewers feel the writing is stiff because of the translation, I still think another round of proofreading would have been helpful. Other reviewers stated this novel is similar and possibly a rip-off of a novel by another author. No comment on that.
Initially, I was not sure if Alien Breeds were humans that were injected with the DNA of aliens and/or animals, then Rage had a flashback. Then I began to wonder if human women were impregnated with alien DNA, gave birth to children that were injected with other DNA, or maybe they impregnated was the beginning of the experimentation.
Not totally clear of how Rage jumped to the conclusion that Jessie ordered him to be tortured. He thought she was sent to him by the other scientist for breeding purposes. How did she suddenly go from breeder status to having the authority to order punishment?
How did the West-Colony Eden even become to be? Is this more government experimentation?
The entire situation with sexual assault was crazy to me. How did the snitch find out if only three people knew about it? And what does Rage’s flashback mean? Is that going to be explored elsewhere? Why did we get the backstory on the secondary Alien Breed characters, but not on the main character Rage? What is the deal with Jessie’s life on Earth?
Overall, the story was interesting, however, I wish it the story would have given more information on Rage’s backstory or more information on Jessie’s life on Earth. This story was not engaging enough for me to want to continue with the series.
Even though it was Jessie that was responsible for the alien breeds to be freed, Rage blamed her for the extra torture he received. It had been ten years since Jessie had helped free the alien breeds and now she was headed to a colony in space as a doctor to help out. Would she ever see the alien that she had the attraction to that led her to go to the press? Would he ever forgive her or learn the truth? Why did he want to mate with this horrible human?

The first book in the Alien Breed seris by an author I have not read before, and I want to read more in this series. Jessie Colby who is now a doctor met Rage ten years ago when he was in chains now that he is free, his name suits him. I enjoyed reading their story and would say this is a must read if you like alien stories. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A enjoyable, interesting alien romance with a slightly dark undertone. The plot is fairly well-written & interesting with some unexpected situations. The characters are likable & are attracted to each other even though they are inclined to be a bit confrontational.
There is: ten years ago a young woman (Jessie) tried to help alien hybrids by going to the press & now she is a doctor who goes to Eden to work with the alien breeds only to discover that one of the aliens (Rage) has a thirst for vengeance & her, military camps, aggressive natives (Jinggs), some twists, intrigue, drama, adventure, action, memories, deceit, betrayal, vengeful feelings, confusion, strange attractions, misunderstandings, friendship, conflict, violence, jealousy, conspiracies, prejudices, a presidential ruling, contentment, happiness, some steam, & a satisfying conclusion.
They were created and kept in cages as experiments. Until Jessie Colby accidentally discovered one while she was working at Dexter Medical Industries.
Ten years later Jessie arrives at Eden, the planet where the Alien Breeds were relocated after they were released when Jessie’s pictures of the one she discovered hit the media. Jessie is excited to be on Eden to work as a doctor. She has never forgotten the Alien Breed she had discovered and wondered if the one she had meet at DMI was there. She didn’t wait long to find out.
Even after ten years Rage could not forget the human female. In his dreams he could see her face and hear her laughter as they beat him and left him for dead. When he sees her in the Club his hatred and rage comes to the front. How can this woman show her face after what she’d had done to him?
Jessie doesn’t understand why Rage hates her. After all, she is the one who put her life on the line when she went to the press with the pictures she’d taken while she worked at DMI.
When Rage declares her as off limits to all males on Eden she is furious. What right does he have interfering in her life when he refuses to claim her as his own?
Rage cannot bear the thought of any male touching Jessie and denies his beast in wanting to claim her. Rage believes Jessie to delicate and unable to withstand that which is his beast.
How will Jessie be able to convince Rage that she can handle his beast and it not break or harm her?

Instead of the aliens abducting the human, in this story it’s the humans that are they bad guys. Accidentally stumbling upon the human/alien experiment at her job, Jesse vows that she will free the creature and free it and any like it. Rage is an alien/human breed experiment who as been tortured and abused his whole life. He has humans, so when he sees the pretty human woman he doesn’t trust her. It has to be a trick and he’s right because few minutes after she leaves he is beaten to within an inch of his life and left for dead. He knows she did this. So when years later he sees her again he can’t help but want to look her.
Can they learn to trust one another?
It’s a steamy, action packed read that will want you to continue on reading more of those world and these characters

When I read the blurb I was excited to read this book. After reading it I feel that it fell very short of my expectations. I felt that this was almost a stripped down version of a book. The bare bones are there but there is no meat on them. There is very little character development or relationship building. I can’t say it was awful but I can’t say it was good either.

Jessie could not get a job so when she saw the add for DMI for a cleaner but she finds something that she could not let stand so she put her life in danger. Jessie take her picture to the press so they can free the Alien Breed from the DMI. Rage and other Alien Breeds was freed from the DMI labs all over the world. When they was free they had to have a place to live so that is how West-Colony, Eden came to be. Now would be the time to get this book so you can find out what happens to everyone. I will be getting more from this author. Thank You for writing these books so we can read them.
