All Dr. Sloan Copeland needed was someone to watch her kids. What she found was the man of her dreams… wrangle her smart, sensitive girls. Nothing less will do.
Enter Rafe Whitcomb. He’s all of those things, not to mention good-natured and one heck of a whiz in the kitchen. He’s also tall, and handsome, and bearded, and ripped, and tatted, wrist to neck.
It doesn’t take long for the Copelands to invite Rafe into their home. Just as quickly, both Sloan and Rafe find themselves succumbing to a heady mutual attraction, neither of them wants to deny. With every minute they spend under the same roof, this working mom can’t help but wonder if Rafe can handle all her needs…
**This stand-alone romance is fluffy. So fluffy. It’s fluff. Low. Angst. Fluff. featuring a large tatted, motorcycle riding ginger man, who bakes a mean bacon quiche and knows exactly how to wrangle clever six year olds while making their mom feel loved, loved, loved.**

I’m pretty sure this book got me pregnant. Like… PRETTY SURE. We have a buff, tatted up male nanny who’s straight Hufflepuff, and a single mom heart surgeon. Reading this book is like wrapping yourself up in a sexy blanket. It’s low-angst but high stakes, and I devoured it in giant gulps.

There is so much to love about this book, and this is a new-to-me author, so I’m feeling pretty good about life right about now.
Plot overview: Heart surgeon and single mom Sloan hires Rafe to act as nanny for her kids. Hot sexual chemistry and awesome romance between two mature grown-ups ensues.
See, THIS was the book I was looking for when I accidentally stumbled into Manny for Hire. Here’s what I love:
Diversity:
Dr. Sloan is a strong, independent, super intelligent biracial woman and Rafe is a confident, caring, emotionally mature white man—but race isn’t an issue in their relationship. It’s not something they have to overcome in order to be together. I loved that.
Mature romance:
Both Rafe and Dr. Sloan are open and honest about their feelings early on and they never lie to each other or keep unnecessary secrets. They communicate open and honestly just like two real-life adults would. There’s no stupid misunderstandings like what you find in so many other rom coms and new adult romances.
Low angst:
At its core, this is a book about two great people falling in love. There’s absolutely no unnecessary angst. There’s not a cartoonish bad guy thrown in at the end. There’s no horrible mother-in-law trying to take the kids away from Dr. Sloan. Sure, Dr. Sloan’s ex is a douche of the highest order, but he’s never really that big of a problem for Dr. Sloan and Rafe. I can’t even tell you how much I ADORE low angst romance.
The kids:
Dr. Sloane’s twin girls are super smart and all kinds of adorable, but they still somehow manage to be age appropriate. I loathe it when kids in romance novels are nothing more than little plot moppets who exist to push the hero and heroine together, and sometimes dispense relationship advice that no child would EVER dispense in real life. That was NOT the case in this book. The kids in this book are great characters all on their own. They’re way more than mere plot moppets.
Super sexy times:
Sexy times are of the oh-holy-hell-that’s-hot variety. If you’re looking for chaste hand holding and a sweet kiss at the end of the book…uh, look elsewhere.
The male nanny:
Rafe is a great guy. He’s sweet, never an alphahole, and takes great pride in his job. He loves kids and chooses to care for them. No one had to blackmail him into it or use it as punishment because he lost a bet. (I’m looking at you, Manny for Hire) He’s not a guy you see super often in the land of romance novels, and that makes me sad. I’d LOVE to see more guys like Rafe.
Dr. Sloane and her friends:
Dr. Sloane is exactly the kind of heroine I want to see more of in romance novels. She’s a genius, she’s hard working, she’s a GREAT mom, and she’s not all emotionally messed up because her marriage didn’t survive. She understands how much better off she is because she had the strength and courage to walk away from her gaslighting ex. She’s the kind of heroine little girls can seriously look up to and want to be when they grow up. And her friends, Kenzi especially, made me laugh until I snorted. I’ll DEFINITELY read Kenzi’s book.
So, long-story-short, if you’re looking for a hot, low-angst read about a strong, smart heroine and a sexy, tattooed male nanny, well, then you need to quit reading this review and go buy this book NOW. Seriously…what are you waiting for?
If you are tired of the world and just want to read a warm, happy book about a woman who needs help to keep her life & job on track and gets a hero who is just as good at taking care of her as he is at taking care of her kids, here you go. Pure sweet wish-fulfillment fantasy, and the warm hug we all deserve.
A buff, tattooed male nanny who cooks, does dishes, and serves it up in the bedroom? Yes, please. This book was hot and sweet, with loads of feels along the way.
The ending felt a bit rushed, but overall, this was such a warm, fluffy, feel good book!! I loved the twins so much, and Sloan is so amazing and brilliant and strong and gorgeous and yes, a little hurt, but healing. And Rafe….ooh honey, I love me some Rafe!!
This is only my second time experiencing the wit, emotion, and fascinating characters that seem to exemplify the storytelling talent of Rebekah Weatherspoon. I was immediately charmed by 6 year old twins, Addison and Avery.
I was fascinated by the Doogie Howser type career path of their heart surgeon mother, Sloan, and I was completely won over by the male nanny, Rafe, and the strong loving addition he was to the hearts and home of Sloan and her girls. There was never a dull moment to this story and I heartily recommend it!
This was a fairly short read, but the characters had incredible depth. Rafe is tough, but so sweet. And Sloane is a boss with a vulnerable side. I loved the way Sloane and Rafe didn’t play games with each other. They moved along at their own pace and were honest. It was refreshing. I also appreciated how smaller gestures were also included, like quick kisses and times where they just cuddled. Sometimes they had trouble even making time to be with each other, which is just so real.
I loved this hot male nanny story! Rafe and Sloan were both amazing and strong characters. Their happy ever after was so lovely and realistic.
4.75 Stars I can’t honestly believe that this is my first read by this author despite me owning many of her works. I’m ashamed of myself, especially considering how GOOD this was. It had tonnes of heart, sweet moments, sassy moments and steam to DIE for. Add in adorable little kids and you have a near perfect piece of fiction that felt honest and heartfelt. I need to read more from this author STAT.
Rafe by Rebekah Weatherspoon is equal parts single parent romance and taboo/forbidden romance. This was such a fun take on the nanny romance. Being a young and successful heart surgeon, a single mom to twin girls, Sloane has a lot going on in her life. Add on top of that a side of “her nanny just up and quit with no notice” and she needs help ASAP. Enter Rafe, male nanny extraordinaire. He is tall, muscled, excellent with children, ride a motorcycle, and had me swooning from the first introduction. I love me a good Alpha y’all. But Rafe? Sweet heavens. He is the total package. He doesn’t have any toxic masculinity traits, he communicates what he’s feeling, and he cooks. HOT DAMN!! Rafe is going down as one of my favorite book husbands. He’s got it all!
I loved seeing how Rafe and the girls build a relationship. Those girls are sweet but they also know how to throw a tantrum like any seven year old. The whole dynamic felt very natural and not at all forced.
Sloane and Rafe admit very fast that they are attracted to one another but Sloane is quite shy and hesitant to start anything because she doesn’t want her daughters to be heartbroken if things don’t work out which is totally understandable. So Rafe being the absolute best is quick to help lay out some ground rules so both parties are comfortable moving forward. I loved how any conflict wasn’t from miscommunication. These two are great at talking things out like adults and I’m always here for that!
How’s the smut you ask? Quite steamy! I’ve heard that this one is a little fluffier compared to her other books which has me even more excited to read more!
Overall rating 5 stars
Steaminess 3 stars
Loved this. Great, steamy read. Loved the concept and the characters. The kids were adorable. Definitely recommend.
Delightful!
What’s not to love about this book?! Black, smart, beautiful single mom heart surgeon and the White, tatted motorcycle riding nanny. I mean, come on! Pure catnip! The kids are endearing and hilarious, the friends and family are supportive and genuine, the whole book was simply perfect.
I stayed up way too late reading this thoroughly enjoyable, completely joyful, sexy story about a driven surgeon/single mom and her to-die-for manny. It was every bit as delightful as it sounds, with a wonderful cast of supporting characters, including a great BFF (can’t wait to ready Xeni’s story) Highly highly recommend for a spot brightness, that is never cloying or fake.
One of my favorite books from last year. I recommend this one to every person I talk to about books. It is low-angst, high-heat, high-competence-porn, high-humor, high-heart-melts perfection.
I read this on a grinding travel day of heavy SoCal traffic and overstuffed flights. Never have I ever enjoyed a travel day so much. Weatherspoon’s dialogue sparkles, her sex scenes sizzle, and her lovers restore faith in all the best things humans can be–even when a small human is kicking the back of your seat from L.A. to Seattle.
Loved seeing this trope flipped and having the guy be the nanny. Loved the way he was with her twin girls. It was adorable. Sloan and Rafe sizzled on the page. Great, entertaining read.
I really do believe the right book comes into your life at the right time and boy, was I ready for this fun, delicious, happy book. Sloan and Rafe and adorable together. The chemistry is prefect. Avery and Addison stole the show. They were fabulous, realistic, adorable children that added to and enhanced the story. All the family dynamics were fresh and real and it was just HAPPY, in the best and most right of ways. It was really a pleasure to read. I’m so, so, so glad I did. I still have a huge smile!
Give me all the sexy science mamas! Also: give me all the gentle ginger giants. Adorable kindergarten twins? Blended families? Ducatis? I am here for all of this!
Sloane and Rafe were very cute together. I liked how their attraction for one another slowly built into something more. It wasn’t rushed completely, but they fell hard and fast. I had no problem with how things progressed between them and didn’t feel like instalove at all. They both proceeded with caution and went about their relationship in a very responsible way. The fact that Sloane has two kids and wants to protect them what could be between her and Rafe was really nice to see. I just really liked this book. Rafe and Sloane’s family were very supportive of both of them and their relationship. I think they were really cute and things were definitely hot as hell between them. I liked Rafe well enough, I just didn’t love it. But well worth the read.
This was my first Rebekah Weatherspoon’s book. Sloan an Rafe’s story is sweet, heartwarming, drama free, and fun. They are great together, and they share an undeniable chemistry. The little ones were so cute! Lacy Laurel did a great job with all the voices. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook.
