From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Sawyer Bennett comes a new story in her Arizona Vengeance series… live. In that moment, nothing mattered more than getting home to North Carolina to be by his side. That meant asking for the unthinkable—a trade to the Carolina Cold Fury.
Now I’m home and when I’m not on the ice with my new team, I’m helping care for my dad. And in the midst of my grief, I find comfort from the one person I never expected.
Calliope Ramirez stole my heart at a very young age. The beautiful, smart, headstrong girl next door, she was my first… everything. She has never forgiven me for leaving her, believing that I chose hockey over a future together. What she doesn’t understand is that every decision I made was for her, and I’ve never given up hope that one day we’d be together again.
Watching my dad slip away is a harsh reminder of how short life can be, and having Callie by my side makes me realize I was a damn fool before. That changes starting right now. Calliope Ramirez is mine and I’m not going to waste the second chance that I’ve been given.
Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.

Being traded to another hockey team so that you can spend your father’s last few weeks with his would be hard on just anyone. Rafe not only has to deal with a dying parent but also a re-connection with the one girl he had waled away from. Calliope and Rafe have lots of baggage to get through but could this be the one positive thing in a time filled with tragedy and sorrow? Once again Sawyer Bennett tugs on the readers heart strings while at the same time giving us a second chance romance like no other. A fabulous addition to the series.
I’ll start this review by saying that the 5* are NOT nearly enough. How can someone put so much emotion and all the fricking feels into a few chapters is beyond me. Sawyer Bennett has made me cry more times than I’d like to admit and I’m not even sorry for it.
This was simply beautifully written second chance novella. It has heart, tears, regrets, forgiveness but most of all it has LOVE !!!

I really love this hockey series.
RAFE is a short novella approx 14 chapters. I loved Rafe and Calliopes story, although it did take me a bit to get her name right in my head. I would have loved to read a longer version of their story, how they grew up living next door to each other and fell In love as teenagers only to separate when RAFE was drafted to an put of state team but with a good imagination I suppose I will just have to settle for using that instead.
Rafe and Calliopes story is bitter-sweet, they reunite when Rafe switches teams and returns home to be with his dying father. If you have read previous books you will be aware of Rafe’s situation as it is mentioned in the previous books.
RAFE is a heartbreaking yet heartwarming story with second chances and hot moments that leads to a swoon-worthy hea. Sawyer Bennett writes brilliantly, always with the right mix of drama, sexiness and story-line, balancing everything perfectly.
Another book in this Arizona Vengeance series by Sawyer Bennett that I couldn’t put down. Each book is interlinked due to the focus being on a different hockey player in the team but they can be read as stand-alone’s. As always I will be looking forward to the next book.
This was a novella that reads like a full-length novel! Sawyer Bennett gave us the beginnings of this story in Dominik’s book, and this one picked up right where Rafe’s story left off. This story was full of heartbreak and love.
When Rafe got the phone call that his Dad was dying from cancer, he made the ultimate sacrifice, he requested a trade from the team he loved, the Arizona Vengeance, to the Carolina Cold Fury. Now that Rafe is back home, he gets to spend time with his father, and spend time with the girl he left behind.
Calliope has no use for Rafe, he left her years ago broken-hearted and alone. She’s moved on, or so she thinks, but seeing Rafe again is a swift punch to the gut. The two still have feelings for each other, and as Rafe’s dad gets worse and worse, he realizes that he can’t let Calliope go again.
I love that we got to see the Carolina Cold Fury family again. I also love that we got to see a softer side of Wylde in this book, and I’m ready for his book to release!
Wow, have your tissues handy, and get ready to fall in love with Rafe! 5 hockey stars for this one!
Rafe has returned home, unfortunately not for the best reason, his father is dying, how is he going to survive this fact. Enter his next door neighbor, they girl he left behind when he left for the NHL, Calliope. She’s a nurse, and helps Rafe understand what his dad is going through, and also help him cope with it.
Can these two get past what Rafe did, or will Calliope hold it against him forever. Read along and find out. I loved this story, I cried and swooned! Grab this asap!

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
For a novella, this one sure packs a punch. I have definitely been intrigued by Rafe and his situation with his Dad, as I have been reading the Arizona Vengeance books as they get released. To get his story was fantastic.
I really enjoyed this book and whilst it was an emotional story, it wasn’t just sadness, there was happiness too. I liked all the characters and I enjoyed being in their world.
A great addition to the Arizona Vengeance series, and I can’t wait for more. Highly recommend.

As excited as I was to get Rafe’s story after all that went down in Dominik’s book, a good portion of my happy for this book was the fact that I’d get to spend time with the Cold Fury family because I do miss them lots, and I wasn’t disappointed in any way. This may be a novella, but this baby gave me everything I was hoping for!
I loved Rafe and Calliope. Both are simply good people, with good hearts, who have a past ~ one filled with good and bad ~ and have been thrust together in one of the most heartbreaking of circumstances. Despite what was going on with Rafe’s dad, I loved watching as they reconnected, dealt with their past and found that the love they had for each other hadn’t died and that the people they had evolved into were still the only ones who truly made their hearts soar.
This was a great read and though it is a novella, everything was executed very well. I got the full meal deal in a small package and have no complaints. And, as I said at the start, I loved being back with the Fury. I got a few moments with a few of my favs and it made me all kinds of happy. And as for the Vengeance, this baby definitely has me all kinds of excited for what’s coming up with them!
