1…2…3…4…5…missing boys…and it’s all downhill from here. How bad will it get? Knowing Sue Coletta…much, much worse.
Sage is a crime writer and wife of the Grafton County Sheriff, Niko Quintano. She writes the Grafton County Series. A coincidence? lol She hadn’t planned on meeting one of the mothers of the missing boys, but once she asked for help, she couldn’t deny her.
Sue Coletta’s writing is so descriptive I can picture some of the scenes that really stick in my mind. One of them is when Noah reaches out to his Daddy wanting to be picked up. Reaching out, opening and closing his hands when he speaks in that little baby voice.
And their fur babies…oh man, do I love them too. Ruger is super intelligent and immediately suspicious of the stuffed moose that Noah brought home with him from the grocery store.
Ruger and Colt are their fur babies, each with their own distinct personalities. I love when dogs are incorporated into the story so seamlessly, having pivotal roles to play. Beware, because they will fight to the death to protect their humans.
Poor Niko, having to deal with Frankie, his deputy, who is bordering on the line of insubordination, and Sage, his wife, who is reckless and fearless, going off half cocked investigating on her own.
A very sad and tragic story of a young boy’s life.
The taste of the supernatural is so sad, yet hopeful at the same time. Even bad people can have good inside them…don’t you think?
A ghost. Why would it choose her to talk to, to appear to her? Does Sage have something special about her? Her love for her humans and fur babies are evident in everything she does.
The only thing that really bugged me is…why didn’t Sage share her suspicions with Frankie. But maybe she would have been too prepared for what Sue had in mind. And I do love where she took it.
The moments with Noah and the fur babies are terrifying and adorable.
Tears and laughter abound. Sue Coletta gave me a happy ending, and set the hook for what comes next.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Racked by Sue Coletta.

This is such a great series! Every time I pick up one of Coletta’s books, the rest of the world disappears as I delve into the pages of the new thriller. It is impossible not to be swept up in the mystery and track the clues right alongside Niko and Sage. This read is another emotional powerhouse for both Sage and Niko as they fight one of a parent’s greatest fears…a missing child. While Niko, Frankie, and team are deeply involved in a new murder in the county, Sage is pulled into the mystery of children going missing in the area. When Noah, their son, is given the same toy the other missing children received before their disappearances strong emotions and irrational behaviors take over and she dives in headfirst to find the abductor and bring them to justice. Will Sage and Niko be able to piece all the clues together before time runs out and another child disappears? And what if that child is Noah?
Alongside Sage and Niko, we also get more of the fabulous Frankie (Niko’s second in command) and her sassy behavior and snarky remarks. She has absolutely no filter and says the first thing that pops in her mind and most of her comments are hilarious (and ill-timed but that is what makes them funnier). She also has her own side drama continuing in this story and I am extremely curious as to what will happen when Niko discovers her secret. I really want to know! I am on pins and needles every time a re-telling scene comes up and connects to the present happenings that could possibly expose her. The suspense on this is a killer.
RACKED is full of intense moments, intriguing characters, gripping scenes, emotional turmoil, and a strong storyline that will keep you glued to the pages. I laughed, held my breath, and might have even shed a tear while reading this breathtaking thriller. This book is a wonderful addition to the series and I cannot wait to see what is in store next for Sage and Niko.
A stuffed Christmas moose might be cute
but also DEADLY!!!
Captivating, gripping, riveting…..Racked
is a plot within a subplot. This emotional
and psychological thriller is full of mystery,
horror, suspense and fast paced.
Who is kidnapping young boys? Why are
they being kidnapped? What is the
relationship between the kidnapping and
the stuffed Christmas moose.
Sheriff Niko Quintana and his wife, Sage,
live in the isolated, wooded area of New
Hampshire. Their young son, Noah and
two fur babies, Rugger and Colt make up
their small knit family.
A dead body, kidnapped young boys,
dysfunctional families, abused families….
all blend together for an intense, scary,
intimidating read.
The author gets inside the well written
characters heads, presenting their inner
workings to the readers to be able to
understand the characters.
Supernatural elements abound.
A Highly Recommended Read!!
I volunteered to read Racked. Thanks to
the author for the opportunity. My opinion
is voluntary and my own.
Another hit out of the park for Sue Coletta. The Grafton County Series is about the lives of Niko and Sage Quintano who live in Grafton County New Hampshire. Niko is the Sheriff and Sage is a crime writer. Sage has survived more than her fair share of tragedy, but in this book, it looks like she will have to go through more tragedy and her family is in danger once again as well. As usual, she will not rest until she knows that those she loves are safe and alive.

I love Niko and Sage as well as the other characters in the Grafton County Series. Nico is always trying to support Sage in her writing and her need for investigating, but she sometimes gets out of hand and Niko worries about her. He has no control over her or Frankie. Sheriff Deputy Frankie Campanelli is sassy, snarky, and funny. She tries to be professional, but her personality slips out when she least expects it. Frankie’s antics always makes me laugh, even when she is doing her job and trying to be a good deputy, she just can’t seem to help herself. One of her replies to a request by Sheriff Quintano is “Minga, dude. You’re as useless as tits on a rooster.” She thrust a pointed finger toward the ground. “Get your ass down here now. You’re an embarrassment to the badge.” She was talking to young deputy Preston Bradley.
As I started this book, I was laughing, by the time I was at chapter 14, I was crying, and by the time I got to the end of this book, I was thinking, WTH? I give this book a 5-star review and cannot recommend this book, or any of Sue Coletta’s books, to readers enough. If you like snarky, sassy, strong women, crime stories, and suspense in your books, you will not be disappointed reading this book.
This is another great read by Sue Coletta! Love Sage and all the trouble she finds. So many twists and turns, some heart wrenching, that there were times I had to go back and re-read to make sure I read it right!
Another great story with Sage and Niko. Sage once again gets involved in a case that this time seems to hit close to home. Little boys are disappearing and Sage believes that Noah is in danger. Lots of twists as she works to protect her child. This author has made this family so engaging down to their pups who are very much part of this family. Loved Ruger and Colt being part of their family. We also have Frankie who has her own personality that adds to this story as she works the case with Niko. Great plot with some twists that made this an engaging story. Loved it!!
