Sequel to Blood & ThunderTHIRDS: Book Three New York City’s streets are more dangerous than ever with the leaderless Order of Adrasteia and the Ikelos Coalition, a newly emerged Therian group, at war. Innocent civilians are caught in the crossfire and although the THIRDS round up more and more members of the Order in the hopes of keeping the volatile group from reorganizing, the members of … reorganizing, the members of the Coalition continue to escape and wreak havoc in the name of vigilante justice.
Worse yet, someone inside the THIRDS has been feeding the Coalition information. It’s up to Destructive Delta to draw out the mole and put an end to the war before anyone else gets hurt. But to get the job done, the team will have to work through the aftereffects of the Therian Youth Center bombing. A skirmish with Coalition members leads Agent Dexter J. Daley to a shocking discovery and suddenly it becomes clear that the random violence isn’t so random. There’s more going on than Dex and Sloane originally believed, and their fiery partnership is put to the test. As the case takes an explosive turn, Dex and Sloane are in danger of losing more than their relationship.

First Ash, then the tear-jerking scene between Ash and Cael, then Sloane…. OMG!!! The series is getting hot and not only in the good way. You really need to read first books 1 and 2 to fully enjoy (and understand) not only the brilliant, action-packed plot, full of betrayal and intrigue, but also all the complex relations between THIRDS agents, so intense and sometimes heartbreaking. Of course, after again another amazing cliffhanger ending… I need to start reading book 4 right now!!!
I was so lucky to receive this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
I started part 1 of this series two days ago. Here we are today with part 3 finished and me having to force myself to write the review and not open part 4 right away. This series is everything! Witty comebacks, plenty of hot guys and dynamic action to keep you turning the pages with bated breath. Just perfect!

Narration: 5
OMG so good, and that cliffhanger!!! Argh!
It follows on from the events of books 1 & 2 but the aftermath of the team’s injuries and the unrest between Humans and Therians. Another awesome case filled with intrigue and betrayal! I loved it! Even better than that is that I thought I knew who the betrayer was both times and thankfully Charlie had me tricked, which I love, and I was on the edge of my seat till the end and then to end on a devastating cliffhanger O.M.G!!! So intense!!!
I loved learning more about Ash in this book and loved getting a look behind the gruff and grumpy exterior. I’m also loving the relationships developing between more of the team members and while I understand the hesitation in some places, it still frustrates me when characters don’t TALK TO EACH OTHER! LOL.
All in all, I loved this book and the series and it’s characters just keep getting better! I can’t wait for more!!!

There’s a traitor in THIRDS and it’s up to Destructive Delta to find them. I am so in love with Dex and Sloane. Their banter, Dex’s teasing and Sloane’s reactions just keep getting better and better. Sloane marking Dex never fails to make me laugh and gives me warm fuzzies. The scene with Sloane and the sock was so funny as I could picture it happening IRL. Sloane, his past and his stuffed jaguar made me cry. I love how Sloane spoils Dex and how Dex centers Sloane. These two belong together.
Taylor is sleazy but I think he can be redeemed. I’m so glad Dex has Tony in his life as he’s an awesome father, but he was kind of mean with Sloane and his forced haircut. I enjoyed the scenes with Sloane purring and Dex confessing to Ash, so sweet and funny. We had quite the surprise in this but I had faith. Although I didn’t envy Dex his dilemma. Ash really knows how to lay on the hurt but I enjoyed seeing him and Sloane get closer.
I like Dex’s middle name and want a coffee mug like his. Also, I love The Princess Bride and need a picture of Dex’s cake, sounds a$$tastic. Way to go, Sloane! Dex’s birthday present from Sloane was so sweet and swoony. “You don’t have to run anymore.” These words simultaneously broke my heart and made it expand. I adore how much their relationship has grown and the trust between Sloane and Dex slays me and makes me so happy.
I really like Cael’s nickname, and Ash needs lots of hugs. Be still my heart, Ash, but you sure are stubborn. I can’t wait to read Ash & Cael’s story. I think Cael will make Ash work for it but it’s going to be so worth it. I also want Seb and Hudson’s story. What can I say, Charlie Cochet, you really know how to end a story and keep us on the edge. Another fantastic addition tho this series!
Rack & Ruin is the third book in the THIRDS series by Charlie Cochet. The men of THIRDS is back with drama, suspense, action steam, humor and romance. I swear with each book I get more and more hooked on these characters and the stories. Well written, great thought out plot, interesting world built and entertaining and loveable characters make this one of my reread series.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and the.
There is nothing like the ending that smacks you right in the face, and you say “No!!!!! Not my boys!” Ms Cochet imagination never ceases to amaze, and this is no exception. I loved more in-depth knowledge into day-to-day work of Team Destructive Delta, how the agents dealt with their issues and intensity when it concerned their current case to weed out the mole and to stop the deaths of innocents.
Sloane and Dex are going strong but they are not without hiccups. Sloane’s plagued by nightmares, and Dex thinks he is going too fast and Sloane might run. They get close and Sloane finally opens up about his childhood, and how Ash and him became friends. I loved Dex’s humor that could diffuse any situation and his thoughtfulness when he was there to listen to his team mates if they needed.
But the team is restless. Ash and Cael are at odds, everything is not what it seems, and it’s breaking hearts and lowers everyone’s spirits. Coalition and Order are fighting on the streets, people are caught in crossfire and THIRDS are always a step behind. So much angst from the boys. Everyone has their demons to fight except Ash, while my heart hurts for him and his pain, really could do it differently. It will be a long road to recover the easy trust that Cael and Ash had. Sooo good! I am off to read the next one!!!
As entertaining as the previous ones. I’m officially obsessed and I know that as soon as I finish them all I’ll be having a major book hangover. MAJOR.
The thing I love most of these books is that I can always be sure they’re going to be light and easy to read, but also be packed with the drama and action I always crave for in a book.
“Hell & High Water” is still my favourite out of them, for now, but “Rack & Ruin” was lovely, fast-paced and just on the right side of heart-wrenching. We get drama and secret romances, heartbreak, steam and declarations. We get scary organizations and murder mysteries, undercover work and betrayals. We also get to know a bit more about each member of the extensive cast of characters (who are lovely and wonderful, found family at its best) and we also get to see Dex and Sloane’s relationship slowly progress.
And after THAT ending, I’m not sure if I should be terrified or excited or both.
Unless one of these books really disappoints, I’m sticking with 5 star ratings across the board. I really love this series. The overarching plot is definitely keeping my interest, but the plots within each book (so far) have been really easy to figure out within a few pages. Usually that is something I’d be pickier about, but the characters are the stars of this series and they’re truly the best part! They’re all complex, interesting, fun, etc. and they continue to grow with each book. There is still tension between some of the characters; I’m dying to figure out what’s going on with some of them.
Heads up – this book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger (lots of action and momentum!), so you might want to make time to roll right into the next book. I’m holding off a little so I can savor each as I read through.
I can’t wait for more Dex antics as I continue reading! This series is absolutely living up to the hype and its high rating.
I have loved this entire series. The world is well built, the characters consistent but more filled out with every book and I can’t wait for the TIN series to start!
This was an amazing addition to the THIRDS series. Dex and Sloane are one of my favorite couples. They are adorable and incredible together. I loved watching all the other relationships between the other agents start to heat up. The humor was strong throughout the book, as well as the drama, action, and emotional touching moments. This book made me feel all types of feelings.
I loved the narration. Mark Westerfield does not disappoint and does a wonderful job with the audiobook.
Overall Rating: 5 Stars. I loved every inch of this book – from the writing style to the characterizations to the plot.
Rack and Ruin is the third book in the THIRDS series, and wow, it’s all go! Now, you do need to read these books in order to understand all the nuances that are there, but trust me, it’s SO worth it!
Sloane and Dex continue to work on their relationship – seriously, I don’t know how Dex does it?! Sloane has stamped over Dex’s heart so many times, and yet Dex refuses to give up, although he is no pushover. Not only Sloane and Dex, but Calvin and Hobbs are having difficulties, and let’s not even go with what Ash is doing to Cael. Throw in a knuckle-biting story that includes a traitor in the THIRDS, and you are in for helluva ride.
I could go on, but I won’t. I am LOVING this series, and there are just too many nuggets to mention. Things that have my heart feeling pummelled or elated, laughing out loud or wiping away the tears. And don’t even get me started on that cliffhanger ending! I was so caught up in the ending that I immediately went onto Amazon to read the synopsis of the next book!
Absolutely outstanding in every way, and definitely recommended by me.
