Second chance romances aren’t usually my thing, but I loved spending the day, and much of the night, with Brylee Barton and Shaun Price. It is always a joy to read one of Shanna Hatfield’s book; the characters are good people who face realistic issues even though for this series they live in the unique world of rodeo.
After a painful split up Brylee dropped out of the rodeo scene but now she needs the chance to earn big money to save the family’s ranch. Wouldn’t you know that the first time she has a major crash and burn, he would be the person standing their to pick her up. For his part, Shaun feels that he has almost too much to make up, so he grabs the chance to help her in a big way. Secondary characters of family and friends add to the warmth of this winning tale. The description may sound familiar but I assure you that when you finish this book, it is one that will stand out and stay with you.
I loved this sweet, western romance. The giant twist at the end made my heart catch and I wondered how it would all work out. But every story deserves a Happy Ever After and that’s exactly what Shanna gives us. You can see my full review here: https://youtu.be/A0SvdGNVEBM
This is my most favorite kind of story, on that puts you on a real emotional rollercoaster ride. It is one that has great characters that have known each other and parted ways, not in a good way and found each other again but it’s awkward for both of them. The take a rather unique road to get to way they need to be.
I love how the story carries other characters from previous books in this series and many of them and they are fairly constant through out the story. I also love how this author takes characters from another of her series and mentions them as ancestors to the hero. That is fun especially when you have read those other stories and know exactly who she is mentioning in this one.
I also love the unique and fun real-life things that happen to the author and she incorporates them into the story giving us some much need hilarity to this story.
I really enjoyed this story as I have all of this author’s stories.
She is an extraordinary author with the ability to create great characters with flaws, and redemption of past mistakes, scenes that grab you and pull you almost right into the story as a viewer of everything from the sidelines. I love her fun witty ways with words and the fun tricks she develops that characters play on one another. But it’s the amazing way she can write authentic characters and authentic problems and scenes.
I received a copy from the author that I accepted willing without any compensation or need to review. I am doing this review because I want to and not because I had to.
I highly recommend this story and also recommend all in this Cowboy Romance series.
I adored this Christmas book!
It is a touching & emotional story.
Brylee, is a champion Barrel racer.
After being away for six years,
she’s ready to go for it all the way.
Shaun is a pick up man, at the rodeo,
with his father. Six years ago, Shaun broke both his & Brylee’s heart. He has not seen her, till today. After an unforseen
accident with her horse Rocket, Brylee
was saved by the last person she thought she’d ever see again.
Once Shaun carried Brylee to the doctor, to get checked out, there was no way she could drive home. He asked close friends to help her. Brylee wants nothing to do with him, but she is grateful for his help.
There is a lot of heartache, anger
& forgiving to be done, for Brylee & Shaun
to work through, for them to maybe
be friends again. It is a wonderful story!
I loved everything about it!
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
This is an perfect love story with some amazing characters. Brylee Barton is a barrel racer in the rodeo where she met Shaun Price, when he was also working the rodeo circuit. From the start you can feel the love between Brylee and Shaun. Hang on for the ride of emotions that Brylee and Shaun experience, and take you through. Such an amazing story about second chances at love, and healing .
Five years ago, Brylee Barton, a champion barrel racer, and Shaun Price, a bareback rider, were in love and at the top of the rodeo charts. Then, one night, Shaun broke Brylee’s heart. She disappeared from the rodeo circuit and he was forced to give up competing due to an injury.
With her family’s ranch in danger of being lost, Brylee makes a comeback to try to win the world championship to pay off the debt. When she is injured, Shaun, now a pickup man for the rodeo, rides to her rescue.
Still able to compete but needing assistance, Shaun has regretted his mistake all these years and offers to help her. Not wanting to lose the ranch, Brylee is forced to accept.
With time running out, Brylee is racing to save the family ranch and Shaun is racing to win her heart again. Will they succeed? Find out in this Christmas romance full of love, surprises, tears, forgiveness, and second chances.
I received a free Kindle copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review.
In reading this story, I’ve felt like I’ve experienced the rodeo lifestyle as only Shanna can put us in it. The excitement of competition, heartache in losing and the thrill of winning all while following the very engaging characters Brylee and Shaun who we are cheering for throughout this story.
A great read. It made me laugh and cry. Another great story from one of my favorite authors Shanna Hatfield.
A touching and humorous Christmas romance
My rating is 4.5 stars
“Racing Christmas is a great addition to the Rodeo Romance series. With a rich cast of characters, both new and those returning from previous books. This latest story will cause your heart to race as Shaun and Brylee are thrown together again for the first time since he broke her heart (and his) six years earlier.
I loved the charming ways that Shaun attempted to win Brylee back. The way he swooped in to rescue her was so romantic! And though she refused his financial help, he found a way around that to help her anyway. Clever man! The pranks that they both played on each other were humorous as well.
While the story was a fun romance, it also dealt seriously with forgiveness and grief. The thing Shaun had done was pretty bad, and the author didn’t make it easy for him to win Brylee. And Brylee’s mom had turned bitter in her grief. Then there was the other thing. . . There were no easy solutions to any of these difficulties, and the author dealt with them appropriately and realistically.
As much as I was charmed by Shaun and admired Brylee, Jason, Shaun’s dad captured my heart in such a big way. His heart was so big and he showed such wisdom. His matchmaking schemes made me smile.
Every time I read one of the books in this series, I learned more about various aspects of rodeos. This one focused more on barrel racing and pickup men (the guys who help the participants at the end of their ride – however it might be needed. See the Wikipedia link above for more information.) Somehow I always pictured barrel racing as being quite safe. Hmm. I was quite wrong on that thought!
As I read, I was amazed by the way the characters in this story intertwined with those from several other of this author’s series, and yet this book stands on its own. If you haven’t read the other books yet, you can jump in right here. If you have, you’ll be glad to see friends from the other stories again and catch up on how they are doing.”

I was given a copy of this book for free. I was not required to give a
favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All
comments and opinions are my own.
It was a little slow to start, but then kicked in and was AWESOME. The twists were completely unexpected.
All of the characters were well rounded and it was a pleasure to revisit some old friends. The action was well described without too much detail where it wasn’t needed.
The rekindled love story was built slowly from a hesitant friendship.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
i love the story could not put the book down if you like cowboys and cowgirls and rodeos you have to read the book. there is also some of the people from past books in this one. if you like second chances and animals you have to read this the rodeo is at Christmas. I was given a copy of the book but this is an honest reveiw.
This is the story of a second chance romance. They’ve both been hurt by their pasts but are they willing to risk their hearts at love which may be destiny?
Brylee is a young, beautiful and talented competitive rider who is challenged with an injury and has no other choice but to depend on her ex to help her with her recovery. Believing that the past is in the past they both agree to work together mutually just until the shows were over.
My favorite character was Brylee who had proven to be very motivated and a hard worker who cared about her family a lot and wore her heart on her sleeve. The book was light, flirty and funny. The character descriptions were realistic.
I would definitely recommend this book. I’d recommend it to Romance fans and YA!
I love Shanna Hatfield’s Rodeo Romance Series!!!! Shaun and Brylee’s story tells us that true love lasts through separation, misunderstanding and grief. I love learning about the rodeo and the way the story is told with real heart and humor! If you enjoy an inspiring romance be sure and read Racing Christmas!
Racing Christmas by Shanna Hatfield is one of the best Christmas books I’ve ever read.
Witty, heartwarming action that will wrap around your heart like a warm wool blanket against a cold Northwestern winter.
Shaun and Brylee’s story will have you holding your breath, crying over a Love gone array, and beaming with pride as the final turn heads them down the home stretch.
Ms. Hatfield has a gifted talent bringing romance, rodeo, and redemption full circle in this explosive Rodeo Romance Book.
For all you Shanna Hatfield fans, she delivers an emotional heart-felt conclusion you won’t see coming.
This is the most beautiful love story.
A great series to read and as this is book six in the series it is a standalone read. By reading all in the series you find out how all the characters come together. Tragic and the rodeo circuit are a story to get behind. This is about Brylee and her barrel racing horse Christmas Jolly Rocket and how she gets back into racing and reconnects with Shaun. A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start.
Back on track in this wonderful series. Loved it!! A few unpredicted twists of fate but doesn’t life have those too? I felt like I was right in the arenas during the rodeos; laughed and cried when the characters did; and could not put this book down. Cannot wait to start the next book.
I’ve enjoyed this series.
