At least one-third of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over working in teams. It is to introverts—Rosa Parks, Chopin, Dr. Seuss, Steve Wozniak—that we owe many of the great contributions to society.
In Quiet, Susan Cain argues that we dramatically undervalue introverts and shows how much we lose in doing so. She charts the rise of the Extrovert Ideal throughout the twentieth century and explores how deeply it has come to permeate our culture. She also introduces us to successful introverts—from a witty, high-octane public speaker who recharges in solitude after his talks, to a record-breaking salesman who quietly taps into the power of questions. Passionately argued, superbly researched, and filled with indelible stories of real people, Quiet has the power to permanently change how we see introverts and, equally important, how they see themselves.

This book will help you understand many people in your lives and why they are the way they are. I run author conventions and the majority of authors are introverts. This book is exceptional in helping one to understand.
I don’t give out a lot of 5 star reviews but this book is wonderful! I started listening to this book because I wanted a better understanding of a dear friend who is an introvert. What I took away from this book was a wonderful insight in not only my relationship with my friend but also an enlightenment of who I am. In my heart I have always …
Excellent book for better understanding of the value of introverts.
FANTASTIC.
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain — This is well worth the read! Excellent research combined with Cain’s thoughtful voice! If you haven’t listened to her TED talk, it’s a joy as well! Happy Reading!
Being an introvert married to an extrovert isn’t always easy. The author explains some of the common characteristics of introverts and extroverts and gives real life scenarios of interactions and how to overcome challenges. This book gave me great insight on how to relate better to extroverts as well as other introverts. A great read for all.
This is one of my favorite books; I have given as a gift to so many of the introverts, parents of introverts, and extroverts who think everyone should be like them, in my life. I explains so much of how we got to where we are as society, including examples from business, financial, social, and religious aspects. I would recommend that everyone …

Interesting, great explanations!
Could have been dry as a bone, but it really wasn’t! I understood and appreciated the examples used to get points across. Very well done!
Important to read for anyone whether you are an introvert or extrovert!
This is the science behind why some of us are more quiet/introverts. I enjoyed the stories but found the research tedious.
Quiet opened my eyes to the real me and let me know I am in very good company.
This book is quite affirming if you are an introvert and should be required reading for every teacher and boss to help them understand those of us who are not extroverts.
This is an important book on what it means to be highly sensitive.
I can’t say enough good things about this book. It helped me understand myself in ways I never understood before and helped shed some light on why I am often misunderstood by others.
If you are an introvert or love an introvert I highly recommend reading this book.
Provided good insights on the often under-appreciated quiet, introspective people (like me).
I loved this book. I’ve been an introvert all my life and felt like a freak. This was a reassuring book that made me feel like the luckiest person on the world, delightfully relishing in being who I’ve always been. Highly recommended!
This book changed my world. I only wish I had this when I was young.

As an introvert myself, it is reassuring to be told that I am normal, and indeed among the most useful people on earth.
