I love a strong and silent hero and a feisty heroine – and this novella has them both, as well as humor, spice, and intrigue. LOVED IT!
I admit it. I had a few books from this author on my tablet, but never seemed to get around to reading them. Until some of my book club peeps started talking about the Rock Chicks. So I checked them out… Ok, so I devoured them.
But then they were done and I missed them. So, imagine how thrilled I was when I started this book and found Jet’s baby sister, Lottie, finally got her story… In the Dream Man series (which was quickly becoming my latest favorite series)! I was excited.
I always loved Lottie. I think Smithy is a hoot. And I quickly fell in love with Mo’s strong, sensitive, silent type self. He was PERFECT for the passionately intense and extroverted Lottie! Then you threw in danger plus his family and hers?
Can I just say thank you and don’t stop writing? This was exactly what I needed to help with my pandemic/world’s-gone-crazy blues.
I’m a huge Kristen Ashley fan, and I haven’t read a book of hers that I didn’t enjoy. The 1001 Dark Nights novellas are intended to introduce a new reader to an author’s series and style with a standalone story that is also a bonus in the series for existing readers. In Quiet Man, new KA readers get double the pleasure with a peek into both KA’s Dream Man and Rock Chicks series. For me, a long time reader who has read all of the books in both of those series—some more than one time—this was a nostalgic trip back to those worlds.
I loved Lottie and Mo—their chemistry absolutely leapt off the page from their first meeting. Mo is working a job, though. Lottie’s got a stalker, and her boss hired the commando to guard her. He’s got some clear rules in that regard – if he’s guarding her body, that is all he’s doing with it, and it definitely became more challenging for both of them as the case went on. I loved that slow-burn relationship build up, and Kristen Ashley knows exactly how to make it worth the wait for readers. She also gives readers a fair dose of screen time from Dream Man series and Rock Chick series characters, which I loved. KA also uses this book to lay the groundwork for her new Dream series featuring Mo’s coworkers, and I cannot wait for those books to start rolling out!
For a long time KA reader, Quiet Man was a sizzling, suspenseful, quick-reading trip back into two fan-favorite series. KA packed it all in here with a sexy, banter-filled, entertaining romance complete with the alpha awesomeness that I love from her. Quiet Man by Kristen Ashley gets 4.5 smooches from me!

Lottie believes that time is running out.
She’s got no man. She’s got no kids. She’s not getting any younger.
She wants more.
But a stalker throws a spanner in the works.
Can’t have a future if you’re not alive. Right?
So she gets a bodyguard.
Mo is everything she could ever want in a man.
There was so much to love about this story! Quiet Man gave me instalove at its finest! I adored the development of the relationship between Lottie and Mo. I loved how they were together without being together, right from the start. There was no denying that they belonged to each other. I loved how they didn’t always agree with one another and yet found ways to make their relationship work. I loved the bonds they shared with their circle of people and how all of those people blended to make a gigantic circle of family.
I’d like to point out that Mo had a good and strong point. Lottie’s a stripper. There aren’t many men out there envisioning their forever woman showing the goods to complete strangers on a regular basis. I’m not knocking the career choice. I’ve got friends who are or have been strippers. But is that ALL you want to do? What happens when you have children? Are you still going to be a headlining stripper? Lottie was right in that there’s a double standard, but men and women ARE different. It’s a fact. Therefore you can’t color each gender with the same brush. She’s a stripper not because she has to be but because she wants to be. Kudos! You like the attention. But to say you’re not encouraging men to fantasize or degrade??? It’s all about supply and demand and I’m sorry, but strippers aren’t solving world hunger or fighting for world peace.
Anyhoo… I laughed. A lot. And I swooned during many of Mo’s chapters. He and Lottie were simply awesome characters that I felt lucky to read about. I also enjoyed getting to meet so many side characters and I’m excited to read their books. Fans of KA will get a chance to visit with the Rock Chicks and the Hot Bunch and meet a ton of other hot guys to fall in love with. While I wanted the suspenseful part of the story to carry through to much farther than it did, I still enjoyed everything I got. I will always be a fan of these grunting and growling alphas and their sassy ladies!
While I read this one out of order, it certainly didn’t make it any less enjoyable. But afterwards, I realized I would have loved the first book of the Dream Team series even more had I read this one first.
Lottie was a wonderful KA heroine. Soft but strong, fierce in her loyalty and whole hearted when falling in love. The author dealt with her job in such a way that I’ll never look at stripping in the same light as I have a time or two in the past. I’m also pretty sure only KA creates characters that I didn’t realize I could so totally love.
Holy hotness! Mo fits the description that fits my every desire in a hero. Huge, bulky guy, not much of a talker but when he did finally open up…oh yeah…he totally won my heart. With friends and family to come along for the ride, I was on board the Mo and Lottie train all the way.
The drama and danger took a back seat in this book and I was okay with that. Even though this was a novella, it had so much to it I felt like I was reading a full length novel. I missed meeting all of Mo’s roommates by starting the wrong book in the series, so now I’m super hyped to dig into the rest so I can see exactly how Lottie manages to bring her girls and Mo’s guys together.
Altogether, an incredibly entertaining read that gave me everything I love in my main characters as well as what I love with secondary characters, lots of heat, and plenty of good times.
Gotta say, I have been waiting for a Lottie’s story since I read and reread Rock Chick Rescue. And I really couldn’t have hoped for a better one. Seriously. Lottie and Mo . But the only thing better than a KA romance is when she tosses in a bit of suspense in the mix, need not say anything else, it’s a one click for me. A must read.
This 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story, but we have met most of the characters in previous books of Kristen Ashley. It is also a lead up to the new series Dream Team Series. I absolutely can’t wait!
This was pretty much perfection for me. Mo is my favorite type of hero and Lottie is also one of my favorite types of heroines.
He’s described as a very big guy and quiet. I don’t know what it is about the silent type, but it works for me. Icing on the cake was that he really knows how to take care of a woman.
She’s beautiful, smart and mature. The way she handled certain situations won me over. Sadly, it’s rare to find a heroine react properly when it comes to certain situations, that when I find one, it’s gold.
All the side characters just added more goodness to Mo and Lottie’s story. Like I said, perfection.
Quiet Man is everything I have come to expect from a Kristen Ashley book!
It is the perfect combination of a fantastic story with characters you can easily fall in love with! The added bonus is we get to see some of the characters from her earlier books that have also stolen our hearts!
Lottie is strong, independent and sassy as hell. Mo is a man of few words, all encased in a very big, strong, sexy guy with a heart of gold! He is going to do whatever it takes to keep Lottie safe from her stalker but these two have a hard time reining in their mutual attraction towards each other, so when the case is over all bets are off!
Mo and Lottie were the perfect blend of sweet and tough and hot. I love these 1001 Dark Nights books because of the sneak peak they give you into different worlds. Mo and Lottie definitely made me want to dig further into the combined world they live in. Their love story was fast and lovely and I look forward to hopefully seeing them in future stories.
When the Rock Chick and Dream Man worlds collide, amazing things happen! So entertaining, so sweet, so sexy. I loved Mo and Lottie! She’s full of life and he’s quiet and gruff and I loved watching them come together, how their sexual tension grew, how things exploded, and experiencing the joy of them falling in love. All the details and depth packed a punch!
I’ll be honest, I actually forgot who Lottie was until the recap in this book! Even then, she was still in the periphery of my memories of the Rock chick series. At any rate, I liked Lottie and Mo’s story. They both had insecurities and issues, and maybe it was the infatuation with finding the “one”, but I really dug how into one another they were from the start. The suspense aspects petered out midway, but I can’t say I’m complaining since I had plenty of time to get to know these two. It may not have been high on angst, but the Quiet Man sure was strong on romance!
I loved Lottie and Mo’s story. I liked that they met when Mo went to protect her and that they didn’t take their relationship farther until his job was done. When they were finally able to take their relationship farther I though they were great together. I loved that Lottie was just okay with who she was and how much she loved her family and nephews. I also liked Mo’s friends.
I liked it! I liked Lottie and I loved Mo! It was interesting to meet an alpha that wasn’t as sure of himself as usual. This is also a bridge between the Dream Man series and the upcoming Dream Maker series, which is awesome. If anyone actually READ the Rock Chick books, the fact that the books are mentioned and I find it just fine and not a self-inserting annoyance.
I didn’t like so much that there was hints of perhaps Rock Chick danger and yet it was lacking any actual action! I miss the action from the early books. Still, if I don’t compare this to my favorite KA novels, it is bloody excellent!
I love this author and this book!
It’s so good to catch up with the wonderful characters of Kristen Ashley books. I’ve missed the hot bunch and the comandos. I need to do another re read i think its been to long.
I love all KA and this was no exception.
I love the idea that every man deserves his Dream Girl and that every woman deserves her Dream Man, and in Quiet Man, readers get to see Lottie, Jet’s younger sister and Smithie’s premier stripper fight to get her guy, and while it’s because of a stalker that Moe Morrison enters Lottie’s life, that doesn’t negate the visceral effect they have on each other as Moe invades all aspects of Lottie’s life in order to keep her safe.
I absolutely loved getting to know Lottie better. She owns who she is and isn’t afraid to put anyone in their place for bad talking what she does or why she does it. She’s an absolute firecracker of a woman who is comfortable in her own skin and speaks her mind at all times because she knows her worth and the worth of those she loves. As an honorary Rock Chick, Tex’s step-daughter, and sister-in-law to one of the Hot Bunch guys, she has a whole crew of people at her back but she also can hold her own and isn’t afraid to fight for what she wants and deserves. Her strength, her intelligence, and her drive definitely shines through in this novella.
Moe Morrison is most definitely a man of few words, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to communicate with his body and his facial expressions. Mo is more than honed in on everything happening around him and to be good at his job, he ensures that he’s always in control, remaining focused on protecting Lottie and keeping things professional until his protective detail is over and he can finally claim the woman who claimed him right back.
Lottie and Moe together make for one combustible situation and while there were times of miscommunication, assumptions, and less than professional encounters, it was beyond clear just how much they wanted each other and after the dust settled and it was finally their time, despite a few more obstacles, they definitely made their dreams comes true.
What’s not to love about a KA read that brings together some of my absolute favorites KA series (Rock Chick & Dream Man) and a bevy of well-known characters mixed with an introduction to new ones as well as a bit of insight into what’s to come for some of Hawk’s Commandos. I adored being back in this world and I can’t wait to see this tough alpha males be brought to their knees.
4 Poison Apples
I am not a “squee” type person typically but I will admit I did let out a little one when I started this book. I mean come on its Lottie McAlister of Rock Chick fame and Mo Morrison of Dream Man fame. And you know with them is going to come the Hot bunch and Commando’s – hence the “squeeing”
First off one thing I am so happy that was different about this book is right from the start we get different POVs. That was really my only teeny tiny issue with the other series was it was mainly just from the woman’s POV.
This felt like a two act play with the first act being about Smithie calling in Hawk’s commando’s to protect Lottie from a twisted stalker. She is assigned Mo as her 24/7 bodyguard and the sparks fly from their first encounter. How these two manage to last as long as the did before burning the sheets is a miracle. The second act included them as a full fledge couple after the business of the stalker was taken care of meeting each other families along with us meeting all the other commando’s who work with Mo who will all get their own stories in a new series coming out in 2020. WA-FRIGGIN-HOO!!!
I have no complaints about this book.. Loved it and looking forward to 2020 and the new break off series..
With her characteristic writing style and her deep love of the characters she creates, Kristen Ashley brings us another chapter in the interlinked lives of her Denver based crew. And it is such fun! Warm, loving, quirky. All the things I expect and love about Kristen’s books. Lottie and Mo are a fabulous match and their relationship a gorgeous piece of the inevitable. As always, this book is a feast that leaves you deeply satisfied.
