Happy 30th birthday to me…or not.Stranded at The Last Chance Motel with a stranger and his bag of guns is not what I pictured for my Vegas birthday getaway.Lukis sees right through me. He’s pleasant to look at, but he has a past. A dark one considering he’s here to spy on one of the other motel guests. I only needed a place to spend a night or two, but I’ve fallen into something more. When the … something more.
When the bad guys come to call, which side will I end up on?
Note: Quickest Risk was originally published as The Last Resort Motel: Room 29. Some names and locations have been changed in this republishing, but the overall story has stayed the same.

This is more a novella that belongs to this series and it also has more of a rom com feel but still with suspense than the normal books in this series But it is a great read that I thoroughly enjoyed
Hannah has plans to get away to celebrate her thirtieth birthday so she is heading to Vegas away from her family who are always criticizing her but things don’t go to plan when her car breaks and the nearby hotel is fully booked Luckily fer her another guest hears of the problem and offers to share his room with her She has to wonder if it is lucky though when Lukis starts to unload all of the weapons he is carrying with him and she has to wonder what she has got involved in. Lukis is there to complete a job that he is doing for Ridge of Pelican Bay Security and he feels guilty after nearly hitting Hannah in the car park What he didn’t expect is that he would start to fall for her and now he will have to keep her safe while he completes his job
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Hannah is almost having a mid life crisis at 30. An idea for a getaway to cheer her up leads her to Lukis. He is a good guy that can be really bad. Or is he a bad guy that is really good. They are thrown together which puts her in a world she does not want to be involved in. This chance meeting is going to change her life in ways she never imagined. I enjoyed the storyline and characters in this book. The chemistry was great between Lukis and Hannah

While this is in the Pelican Bay Security series, it is not set in Pelican Bay. Lukis is an enigma, a good natured and playful alpha with two duffle bags full of guns. Hannah is down on her luck, but still sassy and feisty. From their very first meeting, these two give each other a hard time, playfully. Hannah definitely give Lukis a run for his money, but that only endears her to him even more. With a mobster thrown in for danger and intrigue, this is an exciting story. But what makes the book are the exchanges between Lukis and Hannah; they are sure to make your grin. Happy Reading!

This is book five in The Pelican Bay Security Series and even though it is part of a series of can still be read as a standalone and it is Lukis and Hannah’s story. Hannah has decided to go to Vegas for the weekend for her birthday and to get away from her family and have some time to herself but things don’t always go as planned. Lukis has a job to do but when he hears Hannah’s problems he sets out to help her but can be keep her safe. Omg this is a really brilliant book and even though it is a short read it still keeps you entertained. This book is so well written and I definitely recommend you read this book, series and other books by Megan as they really are worth reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an Arc copy of this book.
This is book five in the Pelican Bay Security series. IT’s Lukis and Hannah’s story. It’s a standalone story that only has a minor connection to the Pelican Bay Security crew in Maine. I enjoyed it even though I didn’t get a dose of my favorite characters in Maine. Lukis takes contract jobs for security companies and he’s doing Ridge a favor with this contract.
Lukis runs into Hannah while he’s on the job. He’s helping out his friend Ridge. He’s taken the last room in the only hotel for miles in either direction. Poor Hannah’s luck just keeps getting worse. She’s lost her job; her car broke down in the middle of nowhere and to make matters worse the jerk who almost hit her in the parking lot has taken the last room. Lukis is intrigued by Hannah, so he decides to help her out by letting her stay in his room with him. Before she knows it, she’s wrapped up in Lukis’ work and his arms. Will Hannah take a risk on Lukis?

Well this book is a little different. It doesn’t take place in Maine, but on a desserted stretch of road in the middle of the desert. Hannah was on her way to Vegas when her car broker down in the middle of the desert. So she walks back to the ugly motel she passed a mile back. She meets Lukis there and he’s not what he seems. He’s on contract to help Ridge, but this book doesn’t take place in Maine or one of his regular crew. This book was alright but not as good as the others.
The author has, once again, given us characters we can care about. When her car dies in the desert, Hannah stumbles into the adventure of a lifetime. Luckily, Lukas is there to keep her safe.

This was a quick read with fun characters and heaps of heat! I really enjoyed the dynamic between the characters even if I was a bit confused at times. I would recommend it to others!

Quickest Risk is another fun read in the Pelican Bay series. This one is a short novella so the romance is fast paced beginning with Hannah sharing a seedy motel room with a stranger. Once Lukis makes his move and the action starts, you won’t want to put the book down until the end. I loved Hannah’s brief stints of inner dialogue and Lukis’ unique romantic gestures.
This was an exciting story from the beginning. It kept me completely riveted. I loved the direction it took. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
Hannah gets stranded in the middle of the desert at a dive of a motel. Problem is, there are no rooms. As luck would have it, an annoyingly cocky and handsome man named Lukis offers her a place to crash in his room. No strings attached. Which, is fine I guess because her options are limited. Luckily he seems to be a pretty good guy with his eyes and guns on the bad guys. I have to say that Hannah does do quite a few questionable things in this book, such as go undercover on a date with a human trafficker, when she in fact has no background in law enforcement. It was all pretty entertaining at any rate, and you do get a happy ending.

A must read for sure. Hannah & Lukis’ journey starts out funny and continues. The mystery unfolds on who he is and how she can turn her life around. Funny parts are laugh out loud. Sweet and short with connectable characters.
A quick short read. Hannah is down on her luck on the way to Vegas. Lukis offers to help her. The two stay in a rundown hotel tracking someone for Lukis’ job. Will he be able to protect Hannah and do his job?
Down on her luck Hannah Stoneman had plans to celebrate her 30th birthday in Vegas. Too bad her car breaks down in the desert. And the last room at the nearest motel just got booked. Hannah has no other options so when the hot Lukis Thompson offers to let her share his room, she agrees but wonders what she got herself into he tells her his job requires a little surveillance and a little snatch-and-grab.
Quickest Risk is a funny, suspenseful and steamy story that you won’t be able to put down.
Hannah has big plans to celebrate her 30th birthday in style before she has to face the fact that her life hasn’t turned out the way she planned. Too bad instead of a fun night in Vegas she ends up in a hotel where she wouldn’t normally stay and has to room with a man surrounded by secrets and intrigue. Her boring life is about to get very interesting!
Humor, heat and a few twists as Hannah and Lukis have a night they will never forget.
Hannah is having a crappy week. She decides to have a road trip for her 30th birthday to forget all of her problems. He car breaks down and she finds herself at Last Chance Motel. She meets Lukis and she is not sure if he is a good guy or bad guy. The hilarity ensues! I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
I read this as an ARC when it was originally in the Last Resort Motel series and Megan Matthews piqued my interest. She has written a story with refreshing characters and a provocative plot full of mystery, intrigue, and sex. I wouldn’t mind reading more adventures with Lukis and Hannah.
Quickest Risk adds a more rom-com with suspense feel to the Pelican Bay series. Hannah sets out on a road trip for her thirtieth birthday and finds herself at an old and rundown motel called the Last Chance Motel. There she falls into situations of comical mayhem and instant mutual attraction with the mysterious Lukis whose actions seems to be borderline heroic. Quickest Risk is a short read with suspense, hilarity, and intense love scenes that is well-balanced throughout Lukis and Hannah’s story.
