How could they have allowed the damn faeries into Veritas Academy? Everyone knows they’re just a bunch of lying, thieving, con artists. Then, just when I start to soften towards my faery, with her innocent eyes and her lush ginger curls, her true deceitful self is revealed. Betrayed, by that liar! #NeverAgainForever blamed, forever banished. Judged and found guilty – without a trial. The story of … banished.
Judged and found guilty – without a trial.
The story of my life.
When will people see past my wings and adorable pointy ears? Past the reputation that all faeries seem forced to pay for.
Well, I’m done with this, goddamn it.
I can fight my own battles, stand up to my own monsters.
Even if my monster is a pissed off, fire-spewing, mountain-of-betrayed dragon.

This is book that I was able to get lost in from the moment I read the first line. This paranormal story line has the twist and turns that keeps you in suspense with the secrets, lies and betrayal.

Quest for Trust: A Veritas Academy Book Kindle Edition
by Jacey Ward
I received a complimentary eARC and am choosing to leave an honest review.
The title includes “A Veritas Academy Book”. This confusing because it kind of implies that there are other books that would explain the gaping holes in this book. But there aren’t any that I can find. Which is horribly frustrating. I really wanted to be swept up in this book, but I was so often lost, looking back into the text, trying to see what I had missed.
Much of it stems from how short the story really is. It was a two-hour read. So much more needed to be added. We needed to have more information, more scenes, more interaction. The characters needed more flesh put on the skeleton of their behaviors, maybe with background or internal conversations that lead somewhere.
The fairies are being allowed to attend Veritas, the top academy for paranormals. They had been denied entrance since the academy opened due to their reputation as tricksters, thieves, and manipulators. There is also the curse on the dragons of the academy (which actually feels more like a University) laid by the fairy centuries ago.
That as another issue. Time seemed to be very slippery in the book. There are references to weeks passing and then it is just a couple of days. The dialogue just doesn’t feel natural either. It isn’t organic.
The two love scenes aren’t anything new or exciting.
With all that said, QFT isn’t a bad book. It is even better than mediocre. I’d say it was a good thing to have with you while waiting on a doctor’s appointment.
2 ½ stars grudgingly rounded up to 3

Quest for Trust by Jacey Ward is an exciting tale of deceit, trust and past wrongs from centuries past and some modern day blackmail.
Dragon shifters were cursed by the Faeries so long ago no one remembers why, but they definitely have no love for the Faery Realm.
The denizens of the Faery Realm have been called tricksters, pranksters and demons and considered the lowest class of paranormals. No one from the Faery Realm has ever been permitted to attend the Veritas Academy, a most prestigious school for paranormals – until now. Not only are Faeries attending, but they are working closely with dragons, who do not like or trust them.
Hunter a dragon, and Zahreena a faery, are law students and are put together on a project to investigate a crime from the past and then plead their case findings in a mock trial. The more they work together, the less differences they see in each other. Then Hunter forgets the old saying. that what you see or hear may not be the truth. Hate and anger soon raise their ugly heads again. If they can’t work as a team and finish their project, they both will fail.
There are so many twists and turns that neither the characters not you the reader, will know who to believe or trust.
This is a fun and exciting quick reading novella that could be mirroring our prejudices of today. Remember, what you see may not be the truth.
I did feel the ending was rushed and abruptly ended – not a cliffhanger, just stopped. Therefore, I’m giving 4 stars and still recommend reading.
I received a Advanced Readers Copy from the author. The above is my freely given and honest review.
