The King of the Underworld saved me from the streets,Treated me like a princess, And locked me in a tower. Then he turned into a beast. There’s a darkness in him.I’ve seen it face to face.He says I’m his light. But if our love is going to last, I’m going to have to be more than his princess.I need to become a Queen. The final chapter in Marcus and Cora’s story.
Nice emotional payoff to the series. Marcus’s cold heart is melting. He loves his wife now, but that’s a weak spot his enemies will exploit, putting her in danger. He’ll burn down the city to save Cora.
I enjoyed reading this HEA, but I liked the two previous books more. It’s frustrating when Cora makes stupid decisions—like knowing she has a target on her back but ditches her security detail to charge into dangerous situations. Security is unrealistically lax. A guy like Marcus would have teams watching her and layers of human security along with a 24/7 live feed of her floor.
Too much is shoved into the last part of the book. It’s like driving 35 mph the entire trip, then hitting the gas for the last three blocks. And Cora’s transition to the Queen of the Underworld is too sudden. When did she become a master schemer and ruthless wiseguy? Why is Marcus seem a little weak here?
The ending is needlessly complicated and congested with out-of-nowhere story lines that should have been introduced earlier. Plus, everything is turned upside down in the last 20 pages. Should we question reality like this? The validity of the story is knocked off kilter, Wizard of Oz style.
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down. Stasia Black and Lee Savino are magnifysent and amazing writers.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
I loved watching Marcus and Cora grow throughout this trilogy. Cora begins as a young, naive virgin, sheltered from the real world by a mother who barely cares for her. She meets Marcus after escaping her mother, only to find herself trapped in a cold and brutal marriage, Marcus is the ruthless boss of the city, involved in all types if nefarious and illegal activities, and seeking one thing – revenge!
The way that Ms. Black and Ms. Savino built these characters up and developed their unconventional relationship spanning all three books was amazing. Cora becomes mature, self-assured and strong after facing hardships, abuse, and pain. Marcus learns what it is to find true love and begins to soften and grow into his marriage. The original attraction and possessiveness never changes, but he see what it truly is…a desire to be all he can for his wife and to prove himself worthy of her love.
All the characters are based in ancient Greek mythology, with modern names and spins on their original stories. The supporting characters are funny, scary, and truly interesting to meet and get to know.
Emotional and Gritty Relationship – Will the Mafia King Keep his Queen??
Cora flees when she witnesses her husband kill the man who had kidnapped and threatened her. Not because she fears her husband, but the darkness in herself.
Marcus is used to getting his way. He is willing to give Cora a little space but wants her back by his side.
A larger fight for control of the city, and a personal fight to keep their marriage. I would recommend reading this series in order to understand the nuances; it is brilliant!!
I have previously awaited books in a series that ended in a cliffhange only to be disappointed; but this one kept me on the edge of my seat and fulfilled every single item I had hoped to find and much, much more! While this story gives us closure into Cora and Marcus’ relationship, it does not end our journey in into the workings of the Underworld of New Olympus and Metropolis. I am eager to start the next chapter of this story in the next book, Beauty & the Rose and can only hope (hint, hint) that there will be a love interest it for Sharo.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
I said this about the last book but I think this book is even better. This is the conclusion to Marcus and Cora’s story. I loved how these authors sucked you into their world. It is a captivating story from the beginning to the end that had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens. Marcus’s cold heart is starting to melt and he realizes that he has mistreated his wife in the previous two books but he also realizes that she’s a weakness that his enemies can exploit. I love how Cora evolves into the Queen of the Underworld. It is a spectacular transformation from the shy, naïve woman we met in book one. Marcus is heartbroken when she leaves but he realizes that she needs her space and when she comes back to him she throws him for a loop. The suspense and twist and turns really made this book for me. I can’t wait for more collaborations from this duo and the stories they write individually!!
Cora ran and Marcus will give anything to get her back. She’s stronger and has all the power. If Marcus wants her, he will have to bend and learn to treat her like the queen she has always been in this story. A stunning conclusion to the tales of this couple.
A fabulous ending to this fantastic series!
I have been waiting for Queen of the Underworld to come out and Lee and Stasia did not disappoint. I did not think this series could get any better but it did!
Now I really want to hear about Sharo!!
I’m so sad the trilogy is over all 3 books n the trilogy were a page turner. But, I want more. I hope more is to come from some the characters.
A wonderful three book series. Each book evolves into the next, depicting how we grow, learn and benefit from our life experiences. Marcus and Cora are electric together and passionately love each other. Yet, Cora realizes that she needs to leave Marcus and start a new life, on her terms. Marcus is crestfallen while they are separated but knows she needs space from their relationship and he vows, he will give it to her and get her to return. He needs a strong woman. Will Cora come into her own – independent, strong? Wow! So, much suspense, his enemies are at his heels, questions abound, lots of action, fast paced, romantic, twists and turns, everywhere.
A magnificent job from Lee Savino and Stasia Black! The books easily flow from one to the other, as we experience a wide range of emotions, leaving us breathless, happy, sad and angry. We are shown that sometimes, one needs to let go, to achieve success. I was delighted to read such a wonderful conclusion to this fantastic series! Thank you!!!
This is the conclusion of Marcus and Cora’s love story, and I’m not sure how I feel about this one. The Cora we end up with isn’t the Cora I wanted… I’m going to be honest and say that I can’t picture it ending any other way, and I really hope to see this future Cora in more stories, but she isn’t even close to who she was in the first book.
So, on to the things I absolutely loved about this one. The writing is fantastic. Marcus is still the evil bad boy that I have come to love. There are still plenty of secrets, danger, lies, and panty-melting passion. There is still the level of dark that has been woven throughout the series, and the level of love only increases. I love the zany side characters (can’t wait to see them all meet their soulmates) and the relationships that Cora has been able to develop with each of them. As much as I wasn’t thrilled with the change in Cora, I was also pleased with her strength and iron will. She has gone through hell and come out dragging the devil by his tail. That’s why I have mixed emotions. I like who she became, but at the same time I wish she hadn’t had to change. Maybe the honesty of that takes away the whole fantasy bit more than I would like.
Lee and Stasia have created a world that has very few places where the light shines. Most of it is dark alleys and frightening shadows. But change has come, and no one yet knows what that change will bring. If you haven’t started this series then you are missing out. I’m not going to say that there are many happy moments in this one, but it will capture your heart and not let go.
This is an excellent conclusion to this modern day Hades and Persephone. It carries over the same intensity from the first books, and builds on it.
I have to say that my heart hurt for both Marcus and Cora during this book. There were so many sad things, and I really wanted to just hug and cuddle both of them and make them both feel better. That being said, I still want to really smack Marcus hard for a decision that he makes. I get why he made it, but really, it was the wrong one and it pushed the situation further than it should’ve been, I think.
I really like the way that everything ended up. I thought it was pretty much perfect. Cora definitely is a Queen, and she’s definitely the perfect Queen for Marcus, and she’s not going to let him forget it, which is exactly what he needs.
This was a great read with wonderful characters and a steamy storyline.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Lee and Stasia!!! Finally a h who takes charge of her life. I loved Cora n this book, her realization of what her world could be with or without Marcus, how they could form that world, but the sacrifices that needed to take place. I have a bit of a crush on Sharo. There were twists, turns, surprises, and betrayal but through it all, Marcus and Cora came through it all to build their HEA. Looking forward to this world continuing with Daphne’s story and fingers crossed Sharo get’s his.
****I received an ARC and this is my honest review.****
Queen of The Underworld is heavy on Cora story. To watch her grow from an innocence girl to a queen who can be ruthless.
My down was because I don’t have enough Marcuss here as much as I want.
A good ending of the series, I say.
Completely captivated
Queen of the Underworld (A Dark Mafia Romance Book 3) by Lee Savino and Stasia Black is the conclusion of Cora Marcus’ story. Having read the first two books, I was absolutely enthralled from the first word. While still a dual perspective, the focus was mostly on Cora and her life without Marcus. She learns some hard truths about herself, the world in general and ultimately that she and Marcus really do belong together. However, before that realization takes place, the emotional element is so strong between these two that they continually get sucked back together. Their chemistry seems to also go hand in hand with that emotional element creating a super magnetized effect. Marcus and his need for Cora is endearing in an alpha way, I really felt heartbroken for him while they were apart. Yet I was also torn, as it was apparent Cora really needed that time to grow into the woman that Marcus would need to stand at his side rather than hidden away.
I really enjoyed the plot of this book, very interesting and engaging, often suspenseful and of course it wouldn’t be a mafia romance without the sense of danger. It’s all that and more as more characters take prominent roles and others finally resurface. This exceptionally well written book is nearly non-stop action.
Overall, an exceptionally well written book that brings the saga of Cora and Marcus to it’s conclusion and their HEA.
Honestly, I wasn’t as impressed with this conclusion of Marcus and Cora’s story as I was hoping. It felt like pieces of the story were missing, or could have gone a different direction. However, I did enjoy reading the trilogy, and am really excited to hear that New Olympus and Metroplis will feature in more books! I learned a lot about some of the minor/major characters, including Sharo, and I really cannot wait to read more about their lives.
Stasia Black and Lee Savino have made a great world to play in, and I look forward to more!
This was AWESOME!! I can’t say how many times
I thought the book was done then another twist!!
I didn’t want it to end!! Cora and Marcus are just made for each other. This book finishes the trilogy of their story. I had tears in my eyes in some places other times I was on the edge of my seat!! The steam between these two is off the charts! There is a good laugh here and there throughout. A great read!!
This is a spectacular mafia romance with Greek mythology undertones & the final book in the series written by two very talented authors. The plot is interesting, well-thought out & written. The characters are well-developed & at times quite dangerous, the individual & combined journeys of the two main characters were full of emotional struggles & misunderstandings as they evolved over time to become emotional strong individuals. There is good support from the secondary characters & I hope to read a book about “Sharo” sometime in the future.
There is: a beautiful & more mature young woman (Cora), her husband – the ruthless leader/king of the underworld (Marcus Ubeli), family issues, turf wars, rivalry, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, secrets, action, memories, confrontations, insecurities, deceit, danger, violence, threats, enemies, warnings, deaths, confusion, friendship, vulnerability, emotional turmoil, longings, devious plans, an alliance, manipulations, compromises, love & steamy scenes. I really enjoyed reading this dark mafia romance & would recommend it (and the series) to people who like to read this genre. I sincerely doubt that you would be disappointed.
I have loved each book in the series and I have to say that this one is my favorite. I love that Cora has discovered her backbone. She is no longer a victim but a force to be reckoned with. She will make a wicked Queen of the underworld. Her and Marcus are over-the-top together and I love each character for their own imperfect flawed personality. Cora’s friends each give something to Cora through the friendship in the form of support or encouragement. I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it. This book grabbed a hold of me and dragged me kicking and screaming at the characters especially Cora through each page. Thank you for your wonderful words, they made a wondetful series.
