If you like the fantasy romance of A Court of Thorns and Roses*, the dark intrigue of the Black Jewels series, the epic adventure of* Game of Thrones*, and a heroine who never gives up, you’ll love this romantic epic fantasy series.*
Buy Queen of the Shining Sea and dive into a medieval world sensual and dark, full of magic and greed, love and blades, where factions vie for influence and there are no easy choices…
(Note: This is an adult fantasy novel, and as such, there are adult situations depicted, including adult language, violence, romance, alcohol and/or drug use, etc. This is the fourth book in a projected six-book series, so although this book’s story is complete, it is not a standalone novel.)

Miranda Honfleur’s Queen of the Shining Sea was an incredible book. She finally wrapped up the love triangle that’s been raging for three books (and had Rielle end up with the RIGHT person), established new and ever-more-exciting stakes, brought back some of the main characters from her amazing novel No Man Can Tame, and ended on a huge cliffhanger.
The action was great. The dialog and romance were great. The characters, as usual, were phenomenal. 2019 can’t come fast enough!
Miranda Honfleur’s Queen of the Shining Sea (Blade and Rose Book 4) simply had it all. Treachery and intrigue. Action and adventure on the high seas and land. Love and romance. Magic and swordplay. A fantastic lead in Rielle, supported by a superb cast in a well written novel that’s perfectly plotted and cleverly continues a growing over-arching tale. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises – the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
Wonderful
Rielle and her brother, Liam, have been attacking the Legion of Divinity ships. They have sunk six and are looking at a convoy of hidden ships with three galleons and six escorts. These ships are on their way to the Vault, a Divinity of Magic prison, where the Legion keeps its prisoners.
Kaia Jorunsdottir, an Immortal of Skadden, is the prisoner.
Finally Rielle, Brennan, and Jon are doing like I thought they should. Lots of magic filled fights to keep things moving. Still keeping with the different points of view from different places adding more to the story making it continually interesting.
There are excellent reviews for this book, so I’ll just add my 5-star rating and say, this is a wonderful, magical series. You should start from Winter Wren (Blade and Rose) and Blade & Rose: Books 1–3 for fullest appreciation, and I’d advise waiting for the sixth book that finishes the series to start so you can read them all uninterrupted. There are dozens of major characters, and multiple plot lines to keep straight. Names and places need to be kept straight, a list with the FULL names would be helpful because any of several names, titles, nicknames, etc. can be used. It gets confusing to follow everything, but the action, scope, breadth, and detail of the world are breathtaking.
I loved Queen of the Shining Sea! This is book four in the Blade and Rose series and each book just keeps getting better and better. Listening to Amanda Leigh Cobb read through all of the ups and downs (and lefts and rights) just brings this story to life. I really enjoyed getting a feel for Rielle on her own, making a difference and doing what she felt was right. It was a nice change from her being “kept safe” by everyone around her in the last book. (Brennan. I’m looking at you.) As in the other books, new characters are introduced and they made for interesting additions to the storyline as well as bringing back some characters from outside the Blade and Rose series. My favorite part is still how Miranda Honfleur shows how Jon and Rielle’s world is managing the introduction of all these new immortals. Leigh is off on his journey to find the last dragon mage. Brennan is dealing with being a new parent. Rielle is kicking butt and taking names. Everything is leading up to the big battle that is inevitably coming and I can’t wait. Thank you, so much, Miranda Honfleur, for this audio Arc so I can give my unbiased review of this great story.
My fifth magnificent read from author Miranda Honfleur, this is an epic in the making! Tolkienesque fantasy with just a dash of romance for flavor. Well-written, outstanding character developed in great detail. No spoilers from me, this is a must-read for fantasy lovers! Narrator Amanda Leigh Cobb’s narration adds to the book’s enjoyment. I was given an Audible copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. I’ll be reading more by this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Great continuation of Rielle’s story. The characters are great and the storyline is interesting and flows well.
First off, when is book five going to be out, because I am in love with this series! Each book keeps getting better and better, and the story never lulls. Miranda is such a fantastic writer, and truly leads the listener through this story of magic, relationships, and suspense! The story also really touched my heart because of the beautiful example of what a female can be, and what respect for a woman should look like, and what relationships should include.
I love a female protagonist! Another great thing about this book was that some questions were answered that I’ve been curious about! I don’t want to give anything away, but it felt good to learn some secrets! There are also so many things happening in the book, that wow, you could never ever be bored!
The plot moves quickly, the characters are beautifully written and described, and the setting is just magical. Miranda has a way of showing instead of telling, and it’s amazing. The narration is also on point if you listen to the audiobook version! Amanda uses her tone to convey the characters inner feelings and allows the listeners to just relax into the story. All together I would give this book 10 out of 5 stars. A must read or listen!
I have not been a big romance fantasy enthusiast but this series is wonderful, it has changed my mind. The world building is fabulous and the characters are so real to me that I’ve become emotionally hooked on them. I cry and laugh and laugh along with them. Miranda has brought tears to my eyes many a time in this series….. And the cliffhanger ending is nothing like what I could have imagined. This is a must read for any sword and sorcery fantasy fan. I don’t want the series to end.
Awesome! Storyline is as strong as ever. I love how the supporting characters are getting more developed. Little disappointed how things just wrapped up in the end with no explanation as to how or why then left you wanting more. Arg! Can’t wait to read more!
This series keeps getting better and better! I love that Rielle and Jon have found their way back together. I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here. There are so many different sub plots happening and the action, mystery, and adventure never stops. So glad I don’t have to wait too long for the next installment. A series full of passion, mystery, adventure, action, friendship, love, intrigue, and awesome characters!
