Good different. Not everything makes sense at first, but that will come! I loved it, I loved Halia, I loved the storyline, I loved the uniqueness.
I really loved Queen of Song. It follows Halia a maid and her Beautiful voice. The next installment is going to really good I cant wait.
So I love a good fairytale retelling but this set eighteen years AFTER their happily ever after, is even better then what I was expecting.
The Kingdom of Fairytales offers an edge of the seat thrill ride in an all new and sensational way to read.
After reading that who wouldn’t want to jump right in and read this? I love the storyline, the open mic night ( didn’t have those in Cinderella!!) and I love Halia our female mc who turns out to be strong and left with a tough decision to make! I am so looking forward to reading the next book!
The essence of the Cinderella tale, in a traditional fairytale town bustling with magic, sprinkled with surprisingly modern fashions and club scene. This musical retelling draws as much inspiration from contemporary versions as the original. The characters are vividly drawn; the stage well set. Arcadia has been alluded in earlier books are being one of the most magical lands in the kingdom. And it is, but not all magic is good and recently there has been an influx of the less desirable type. Meanwhile Halia has an expensive secret to keep that could kill her and the Queen has gone missing.
Lots of interesting threads and possibilities in this one. Cinderella’s season is off to a good start.
Queen of Song is the first book in the Cinderella arc by J.A. Armitage and Margo Ryerkerk.
We follow Halia and Tia, both are orphans, and working at a boarding house scrubing toilets for Madam. Halia dream for a better life where she doesn’t been constantly put down by her employer, She love to sing and one day her friend trick her to go to an open mic night in a bar. The bar owner, Lorenzon, know she has what it take to be a great star but she will need courage to stand up to Madam and her boyfriend Victor who is really possesive and doesn’t what her to make a fool of herself.
I have really love the first book in this new serie. Can’t wait to read the next one. I have received an arc of this book from the author.
Sweet, innocent, and yet powerful spinoff for Cinderella, one of the most beautiful classic fairytales.
Halia, an orphaned girl with strange eyes, is working as a maid under Madam Fontaine at the boarding house, together with her childhood friend Tia. Or more like slaving, bullied and humiliated at every possible time. Also Halia’s boyfriend Victor treats her as possession, a subservient girl without opinion. Only when the opportunity rises to escape and pursue her dreams of becoming a singer after meeting Lorenzo, a demon owner of the Daydream bar, Halia starts to understand the power of confidence and self-respect.
Since season six (Fallon, my most favorite still), the level of these miniseries was set very high, and I enjoy every bite of these lightning fast fairytale stories. Halia is yet another unique heroine, soft, passionate, caring, forgiving, and with a power that can compel, manipulate, and even destroy when misused. Now starting to explore her gift, it’s time to shine and soothe the soul with some beautiful songs. Pity the pages cannot sing the melody as well..
This is book 1 of the Kingdom of Fairytales Cinderella series. This is a great start to the series. I loved the story and characters. Both are well written and hold your interest. I’m looking forward to the next book and I would recommend reading.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really liked this story. It sets up an interesting place and the addition of a fairy tell as the backbone made it all that much better. i liked the characters and the hints of what might come that kept me guessing to the end and needing the next book. I really liked Halia and cannot wait to see who she really becomes in the series.
Enthralling start to the next series in the Kingdom retellings. Halia’s story is a quick but exciting and intriguing read that is slightly different than the other series’s. She is from a more humbly beginning. I can’t wait to see where this story takes us.
Excited to see a new twist in this Kingdom of Fairytales series. Unlike the other’s in this series Halia wasn’t raised in a palace but instead an orphanage until she aged out and moved to a boarding house. She was blessed with an amazing voice but a shy soul. With her best friend’s, Tia, pushing and support, she sings at an open mic night which boost her confidence. But will she continue to shine or hide in the shadows like she has done most her life? Something evil is going on in the kingdom and Halia’s voice might be the key to unlocking it. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Check out this Cinderella retelling.
I received a arc of this book and volunteer a review. Fantastic first book and love fairytales .
Did not expect that ending. Halia grew up in an orphanage and has one friend, Tia. They are still best friends and work together. But there is something wrong with Halia. Since she was young something happens to turn her eyes gold, and she has to have someone draw feelings from her for if her eyes go totally gold she has been told she will die. But is this the case. She has recently been told that she has magic and she will know when to use it. Something is happing in the Kingdom, evil approaches and she might be the solution to stop it. But how? This quick short read is a great beginning for this series. The authors did an amazing job building this world and its characters. Halia is talented but lacks self-esteem. Her best friend Tia, knows most of her secrets but they are yet to discover another one, one that may explain her heritage. The queen is missing, and danger has come to Arcadia. If Halia doesn’t find some courage soon Arcadia will be overrun, and evil will prevail. The race to find the queen is on and I can’t wait to read what happens next.
Halia and her best friend share a room at the boarding house where they work. To make their work days go faster Halia sings in the halls while they are cleaning the rooms. The guest at the boarding house likes to hear her sing so they cover the halls just to hear her sing. Halia is very shy with her singing, she doesn’t like singing in front of an audience. Halia doesn’t think she is very good even though her best friend tells her everyday how good she is.
Halia doesn’t believe that she could make a living with singing she just dreams of a day when she can walk away from the boarding house. She hopes that her boyfriend will ask her to marry him. Halia’s boyfriend is sort of a control freak. He wants things his way and has an idea of how a person should act and behave and live. Halia does not agree with him but she believes that he is her best hope of getting out of the boarding house.
Her best friend tricks Halia into going to open mic night at this bar. Halia is nervous about singing in front of a crowd but goes ahead with it anyone. Everyone at the bar really enjoys Halia’s singing. Halia would like to take the job but she is afraid that her boyfriend may not like the idea. If Halia is to live her own life the way she wants then she must stand up to and face her boyfriend. Can Halia face her boyfriend? Does she have what it takes to make her dreams come true?
