[ ] Queen Of My Heart (Life Won’t Wait Book 1) by Nikki Lynn Barrett was a really good read! The storyline and characters were great, and you definitely go on an emotional roller coaster ride with this book. However, I felt like things went really fast in this book to me as far as the timeline goes. But I loved the emotional upheaval this book inflicted on me. This is the second book I’ve read from Barrett before and so far this seems to be a theme of hers, the whole emotional upheaval thing and I honestly love it. I can’t wait to read more from this author in the future!
I read this via #QuirkyBlindDateWithABook I really enjoyed this book. It deals with some real life issues that I was glad to see in the story-line. I love when authors bring awareness to certain things. This is the first book I have read by the author and I plan on reading more.
Tucker is declared country musics Hot new thing, He is talented but he is struggling with personal things he doesn’t want to get out that is causing a struggle with his music. He is carrying a lot of weight on his shoulders and he needs to find a way to deal with it all
Quinn is looking for a change and heads to Nashville to land herself a record deal. She has been helping her mom and sister out of every mess they find themselves in and she has had enough. When she thinks she is finally going to go after something just for her she gets a call saying her sister is in trouble again. One click this book to find out.
I loved the chemistry between these two. This story has its funny moments and some heartbreaking moments. It was a perfect mix.
Queen of My Heart (Life Won’t Wait Book 1) by Nikki Lynn Barrett – 4 stars
I typically do not read in “accents” but for some reason this book encouraged me to. Tucker has a country accent. Quinn has a higher pitched voice with a flat American accent and the voice behind the blog “For The Love Of Celebrities” has the voice of the reporter in Princess Diaries – I have no idea why she has an English accent – but it’s what was called for.
Queen of My Heart is the story of Tucker McGinnis and Quinn Winters. He is a reality show music contest winner who has climbed the chart and is in much demand. She is a child star who has burned out of acting and wants to try singing. She has an amazing singing voice, so off to Nashville she goes. Both Tucker and Quinn have family issues that they have to do with on a regular basis and Tucker likes to keep some of his life out of the public eye which isn’t always easy to do.
I enjoyed this book once I got into it. It was a little bit hard to connect with either character at the very beginning because they both kind of seemed like whiny brats. I was able to read through that to see how they really are and what they are really about. The story developed over short period of time and was very well told.
I am not a huge fan of Country Music, but I feel like I would listen to both of these artists if they were real. The music they write touched my heart. The lyrics that Nikki Lynn Barrett writes competes with the words she writes for the book; that’s an amazing talent. I will continue to read the books that Ms. Barrett writes.
What a wonderfully touching beginning to a very promising series and a new author for me. Well-developed, likeable characters, country star Tucker, and newcomer to the Nashville scene, Quinn, who auditions at his record label, are written with much love filled with layers of complexities as they navigate the harsh struggles living in the limelight with back stories they’d rather keep hidden. Gut-wrenching and powerful, yet loving and flirty/sexy, Ms. Barrett’s story touched every emotion inside of me. Her personal love for the world of country music shone through from the first page to the last. Her secondary characters were delightful and added so much depth to the story. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series and look forward to reading more about Quinn and Tucker in the future! If Nikki Lynn’s other books are this good, then she and I will have a long-lasting relationship as author and reader.
This is my first book from this author and I was surprised that I like it so much. The story of Quinn and Tucker is interesting and well developed. The characters are intriguing, fun, sexy and likable. The story is set in the country music industry and has plenty of snarky banter, tension, ups and downs, drama and will keep you turning pages. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.
Awesome book. Awesome writer.
This quirky and fun read was just a great addition to a lazy afternoon. I really enjoyed the pacing and the flow of the story. I tend to be easily drawn to stories that involve music and this was the story my heart needed to just enjoy the afternoon. Very enjoyable.
Queen of my Heart by Nikki Lynn Barrett is book one of the Life Won’t Wait series.
Quinn is tired of acting. She wants to reinvent herself as a country singer. Quinn didn’t anticipate the demands that would come with this career change. Those demands come in on top of family demands and things have gotten complicated for Quinn. Tucker is struggling a bit after a whirlwind beginning to his career. Once he hears Quinn audition with his song, the most personal one to him, he’s hooked. His offer to help Quinn with her career ends up turning into so much more. Will Quinn and Tucker trust each other as things move forward for them or will the past always get in the way?
I really enjoyed reading this book. I enjoyed that it was set in the country music world as I haven’t read too many books like that. Quinn and Tucker were fun to read and to follow their development. I can’t wait to read more!
5/5 Stars
Queen Of My Heart (Life Won’t Wait Book 1) by Nikki Lynn Barrett
This is not the first book I’ve read by Barrett. Queen of my Heart is an amazing read. This page turner is amazing. It combines my favorite things. Country music, books, fairy tales, and Nashville.
Quinn moved to Nashville after the last time her character was killed off. She moves in hopes of getting a music deal. She wants to provide a better life for her niece. The quote I chose for Quinn is: “For once, I wish I could live a fairy tale life. You’re saving me so I can help my family, and now that I’m here around yours, I wonder how I can walk away after this is said and done without a broken heart. I’ve never had this kind of family togetherness time. Never. And I’ve never wanted anyone to sweep me off my feet before. I still don’t, but you’re slowly changing my mind.”
Tucker is the next country music star. He has had a horrible past. When he meets Quinn it’s after she sings one of his songs. He helps her out when things get tough and falls in love. The quote I chose for Tucker is: “Seems I have a big star in my presence. I’d be honored if you’d let me be your tour guide through Music City. The tour includes some ins and outs of the music scene, lunch with a country star whom you might have heard of- Tucker McGinnis? I might be able to get him to meet you. Oh, and there might be some flirting involved. But in the end run, I’m hoping for a great day and a yes from you. Maybe a little one on one on a six string.”
Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.
Such a fun read!
Nikki Lynn Barrett creates fabulous characters that really surprised me but who I loved! As she puts it, a modern fairytale!
One of the characters talks about writing a fanfiction about Tucker and Quinn and that description is perfect as it that ultimate dream of a gorgeous, handsome star helping the heroine!
Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Queen of My Heart by Nikki Lynn Barrett is the first book in the Life Won’t Wait series. This is a sweet contemporary romance featuring the characters Quinn Winters and Tucker McGinnis. Set in Nashville, the story focuses on Quinn, a former actress, wanting to start over as a country singer. Tucker, a reality singing show winner, needs a muse. The two meet and Tucker offers to help her through all the obstacles in the singing world. I enjoyed these characters and enjoyed the emerging romance as they worked together. Also, there are some obstacles they have to overcome. Music City is a great setting and gives a different flavor to New York or L.A. and lends itself as a background character. I enjoyed the characters and appreciated Quinn starting her career over to follow her dreams. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in this series.
Queen of my Heart is the first installment in author Nikki Lynn Barrett’s Life Won’t Wait series. It is a Contemporary Romance, and I found it to be delightful. This is the first book I’ve picked up by this author, but I know it will by no means be the last. The author has a wonderful way of threading together the character’s lives along with meaningful, real-life situations that make this book a page-turner. I was engrossed from the very beginning with Quinn Winters and Tucker McGinnis. Quinn is an actress who is making the career shift to the country music stage. Tucker is already the King of Country who has lost his zest for the music. When the two get together, will they become the next King and Queen of Country? Will they make sweet music together? I had to find out for myself, and those pages kept turning. I love a good story that has a lot going on to keep me interested, and this definitely is one of those stories. I am looking forward to book 2! 5 out of 5 stars!
This book is very unique. I’ve never read a book with this story line. I loved it! The characters are unique and broken, and use each other to heal. This just goes to show, we don’t know what famous people’s lives are really like. It helped me remember that everybody has troubles.
I very much enjoyed this book and would definitely read it again! I adored the relatability of the familial relationships and empathized with the real life struggles that were happening. The relationship building was extremely realistic and made me wish for a love like theirs. All of the songs were extremely well written and made me want to look them up so I could hear the melody and harmonies. Music is such an amazing way to say the words you sometimes don’t have the words for in normal conversation, and I love that she used that as a platform for communication within the story as well.
For Quinn Winters, life had dealt her a bad hand when it came to family. She started off as a model, then commercials, and then a made-for-TV movie actress. After being killed off in every role of a movie, Quinn had enough of the Hollywood scene. She took off for Nashville to try her hand in music. Little did she know that it was more difficult to make it in Music City than she thought.
Tucker McGinnis is Nashville’s hottest country music star. That is until a tragic accident changes the course of his music career. Now he’s experiencing a problem of his own as his past is rearing its ugly head.
Tucker is distraught when all of the sudden he runs into Quinn at Bellamy Records. Being a kind man, he offers to help her get her music career in motion by teaching her the guitar. Little do they both know that this will change the course of both their lives.
How will Tucker and Quinn handle their new friendship? How will Quinn’s niece play into their lives when Quinn’s sister falls into trouble again?
From start to finish this book held me on the edge of my seat. It’s a wonderful story of life, hidden pasts, and finding something that you never thought you deserved.
Wow great story. The love between Tucker and Quinn is undeniable. The flirting and sass between Tucker and Quinn I loved. The stories of their past….wow….very real and just gut wrenching. Quinn is a very strong, independent woman and I love that about her in this book. Tucker just made my heart ache at times with his past. I recommend this read and it is a fantastic book!
This book honestly was an amazing read! I enjoyed every page truly. I loved how you got to have both sides of the story to Quinn and Tucker
Both from different lives but truly were two souls connected. Though out the book there were times there was love, laughter, hardships, drama and tears that I shed, but all of that and more made the story and book with all the wonderful characters what it was!
It wasnt your usual boy meets girl, boy falls in love, boy girl live happily ever after. To me this novel and characers were real! They had to work thru so much and get thru a lot of hardships to be with one another.
They had to work at it as basically any relatonship truly is and its not always easy. Feelings and carerers came to light and truly when it comes down to it , its all something we ask out selves? What do we really want? Is it love, fame or fortune, or security? This is what Quinn and Tucker found out with one another. And in the end thru everything they went thru, they know in their hearts they did it all for their true want in the end!
I loved this book with every heart string within me. I cant wait to see more books by this amazing author! i cant wait is a understatment! Honestly I reccomend this amaing captivating story!
This is the first book in the Life Won’t Wait series. I really enjoyed this love story. I really liked the characters. You can’t help but feel invested in their stories.
When Tucker decides to take Quinn under his wing he had only planned to help her start her career in the music industry.
Quinn has been a successful actress and now decides a change would be good, so she embarks on auditioning for the same company that has Tucker. After hearing her audition Tucker is blow away and decides to help her.
When Tucker comes up with an idea to help both of their careers things go from fantasy to reality.
Can the reality be as good as the fiction? With them both having back pasts can they learn to trust each other enough for something to work? And what will happen when their careers take off? Will they still be together or will they be dragged in opposite directions?
This is the first book in the Life Won’t Wait series. This is a Contemporary Romance novel and is 412 pages. This story follows Quinn. She is an actress that has actually found her love of music from an acting job she did. Tucker is country music singer who won a reality singing show five years ago. Now working on his second album, it is proving a little more difficult. Tucker hears Quinn audition at the record label, and he is stunned. Tucker offers to help Quinn spring her career in music as she is pretty overwhelmed with it all. Absolutely loved this book!
I enjoyed this book. It was a grabber from the start, which is always great. The characters and plot were believable. The highs and lows were realistic, dealing with personal fears of failure and accomplishment – who doesn’t go through this in their own lives. Overall the book was kitschy, an enjoyable read, time well spent decompressing from the stresses of reality.
