Everything! This book is Everything! Queen of Gods is an interesting and Exciting story about vampires and druids and magic! It was magnificent! I consumed this story in one sitting! I love Gwen and her strong will and determination to change her world! She is a hilarious bad ass! The trials are interesting and leave you in suspense waiting to know the big picture. Kimber is unique and has an important roll to play! I can’t wait to know what happens next! I will say I cried my eyes out in that last trial, I was not expecting that kind of emotion punch to the gut! Read this book! A very captivating first book in a series!
This book series is amazing! The books go through two POVs, Gwen (vampire) and Kimber (druid). The whole time reading this book I was SO into Gwen’s story. She is seriously a badass. Kimber I was more ehh about, I found her stuff interesting but not quite as interesting. Still an overall AMAZING book!
This is an interesting tale that involves 2 different species of women has the main characters. One is fiery and strong, while the other is the opposite. I don’t want to give the story away, so I will say that this is well written, interesting twists and has some sexual scenes thrown in.
I recommend this good read.
First and foremost what you need to know. DO NOT let the first chapter discourage you from reading the story, I know it’s kinda terrible, plain and written like something from a pre-schooler text book but after getting over those brief couple of pages the story transforms into a spectacular tale. Apart from the first chapter I loved the rest of it, admittedly the authors messed it up with the first impression and all but they redeem themselves and their book tenfold later on. The rest of the writing is exceptional but I didn’t expect any less knowing and loving one of the authors style.
PLOT: The story has two POVs and they mostly alternate, but there are no definite connections between them yet, I’m sure there is going to be one down the line but not yet. So in this book the two POVs represent two different threads/storylines.
Personally I loved one of them and if there was only that one in the book then it would have definitely got a perfect rating. This was Gwynnore side; it has a perfect arc, an explosive and dynamic premise, a lot of underlying emotions, phenomenal characters and really steamy romance in it. All in all everything I look for in my reads, and everything well balanced. Sure some things were a bit predictable but they still were spun in a way that couldn’t not enjoy it.
The other point of view on the other hand, Kimber’s for me was a huge drag. Pardon my candor, but while the writing was great here to, the premise of this story was really weak. In my opinion there was not much to it at all so I was glad that the book is mostly narrated from the other POV. Overall this part doesn’t give much to the story especially since there is not a visible connection between the two threads. The whole utopist world on the brink of change just not working for me.
CHARACTERS: Kimber, a druid with average powers, is a happy-go-lucky, naïve, bubbly woman, who is perfectly content in her current situation but when some big changes come into her life she takes them in stride to. However, I think she is delusional when it comes to the temple teachings and under everything that happens to her she is being manipulated. She just doesn’t have the strength she would need for her newfound title. I see her as a mediocre character.
Gwynnore, the other lead, and a vampire princess on the other hand is my spirit animal. She is a spectacular character. She aspirers to be queen and she was preparing for it for all her long life. She is strong, cunning, and sarcastic and has a short temper when it comes to the leading men of her people. She wants to be queen but not just for the power of it but also to change the archaic and misogynistic rules and laws of the vampires. However other than her strength we see a lot of small glimpse of her loneliness and vulnerability, which broke my heart every time. Her character has a delicate balance between the emotional, lonely girl and the mighty and powerful queen.
Men: I’m not going to name them one by one because then I couldn’t do the review without spoiler. But let me tell you this, there are a lot of interesting male figures in the story both druid and vampire but one thing almost all of them have in common. While they like even adore and help the main characters, they all strongly live by the laws and rules which all support the males when it come to ruling. Some of them have a huge potential, some of them I even love despite their faults, especially from Gwynnore side. I have hopes for them.
ROMANCE: There are plenty of steamy and sizzling scenes it the book so on that front the story is to notch. As for the romantic element I once again have the opinion that while Kimber’s story has an interesting romance as well, in her kinda religious world and with her conservative posture, the relationship felt a bit out of place thanks to its nature. On the other hand Gwynnore’s story doesn’t have a definite romantic element to it. Her relationships are still open to change but she had a strong sexual tension with several men. So the possibilities are numerous. I have my personal favorite pairing with a certain high standing vampire and hope the authors choose to nurture this connection because they don’t just have a mind-blowing chemistry but also a funny and spicy rapport. However there are a lot of obstacles standing in their way.
An explosive first in series
This is what I want in a fantasy read!
Heart pumping action – intrigue – deceit – lust- love- betrayal -secrets
A plot line that is exquisitely detailed – filled with pivots and revelations – keeping you on edge from scene to scene – causing you to question every character and their motives
Queen of Gods is filled with a diverse cast of mythical races and beliefs –
We travel back and forth between the stories two heroines (and yes I have a preference but I think that may change ) between their distinct communities which are separated only by a wall of magic –
Comprehensive characters – Main and supporting
Intricate plot line and tone
This is a complicated read, as you journey back and forth between the heroines and their distinct “worlds” it requires your complete attention to details and characters as there are a lot of hidden but obvious easter eggs that lead me to believe some are not what they seem
Definitely recommended this series –
Waiting for book two is going to be torture

Book one in the new Vampire Crown series. What incredible world building! We are transported to a world separated by a magical mountain that is due to come down. On one side we have a young woman bound to S’Kir as well as the Unseen Gods that is called by the mountain giving her importance. She also gives us a little romance throughout the book which is sweet and sexy at the same time. On the other side is the Vampire Kingdom that is currently putting a new Queen and King in power. This side tells the new Queen’s story as she fights (and other things hint hint) her way to winning all of the challenges. This is an in depth story that will pull the reader in making them wonder what fascinating thing will happen on the next page. My only real complaint is that it is supposed to a RH novel though none of that was present but maybe it will later in the series. If you are a fan of fantasy novels that have some well-developed main characters then you should give this a shot. I really enjoyed it so I give it 4/5 stars.
