What happened after the happily ever after? You all know the story of your favorite fairytale, but did you ever wonder what happened after the fairytale ending? Well we know. Not all afters end up happily, sometimes the real adventure starts much later…No one understands what it’s like when your mother is famous for her beauty and you are, at best, average. Actually I’m wrong. She wasn’t famous … Actually I’m wrong. She wasn’t famous just for her beauty, but that’s how people tell the story, how people have always told the story. That was even her name for a while. No one remembered her real name. She was just the sleeping princess or Sleeping Beauty. Even all these years later, when the royals appear in the paper, my father, the king barely gets a mention and I’m only a footnote in my own life, destined to always be Sleeping Beauty’s daughter.
My name’s Princess Azia Rose of Draconis and here is my story…
Following famous fairytale characters, eighteen years after their happily ever after, the Kingdom of Fairytales offers an edge of the seat thrill ride in an all new and sensational way to read.

This book has it all!
Oh my, this was good. Really good! I was immediately pulled in and it held my interest throughout the book. Good plot, good flow, good pacing. The story had some things I didn’t expect and I loved those surprises! It was all very intriguing. I LOVED IT! I loved seeing how Azia is coming into her own. What is going on? Sleeping Beauty is Azia’s mother. There has been a long time of peace, but now? Dragons, a faerie, a guard, lies, magic… this book has it all. It made me want more!!!
This is the first book of four in the Season One of the Kingdom of Fairytales Sleeping Beauty, an intricate and original Sleeping Beauty’s daughter story. Azia Rose is a wonderful character, strong, and determined. Her story is fast-paced and entertaining. The story ends with a cliffhanger, and I am looking forward to listen to Heiress of Embers, the next book in the Series. Melody Muzijakovich did an entertaining read of the story.
Sleeping Beauty’s adopted daughter has reached her own young adulthood and wants to learn to defend herself. She doesn’t have much interest in gaining her own Prince Charming to defend her, but everything is not as it should be in the kingdom and she might need a white knight. Fortunately (or perhaps not) she suddenly has two.
This story has a lot of promise, but it’s more like a first act than the whole play. We get to meet the players, get a bit of background and, some well crafted action scenes and a cliffhanger ending, but when push comes to shove, not a lot happens.
It’s interesting however, and well enough written and narrated that I’ll head back for book two, if only to find out whether she marries her parents choice or her fake lover.
Audio Review:
Queen of Dragons – A Sleeping Beauty Retelling (Kingdom of Fairytales Sleeping Beauty, Book 1) is the adaptation of the fairytale sleeping beauty and puts a wicked twist on the original tale. The ending was a bombshell. A royal family, turmoil and a complex story. Building relationships and learning magic Azia develops love interests along the way. The ending was a bombshell cliffhanger. Narrator Melody Muzljakovich flawless performance gave each character a distinct voice. Highly entertaining and talented narrator.
I really enjoyed this story. It was nothing like I expected. Usually authors try to take you back to childhood Armitage glosses over the original. The original story was great when you are kids but we are no longer kids. Therefor. WHY would we want to read at a child’s level. The new story skins the old and takes off to the future. LOVED it.
Princess Azia Rose always lived in the shadow of her adopted mother the infamous Sleeping Beauty, but this did bother her as she liked being independent. She has been content to just look after her disabled brother secretly play fighting him with swords behind the castle. Until her parents decided due to an unrest among the dragons she must marry in preparation for ruling the kingdom. The hijinks that ensue after this bombshell is a fairy tale within itself. This story is a continuation of the classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty and it is a good adaptation unfortunately just as it starts to get good it abruptly ends. Despite the lack of closure I still would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy and or classic fairy tales. The characters are well-rounded and believable. The plot once the introduction of the characters is complete is fast paced and enjoyable. Despite leaving you wanting more, this book as well worth the read.
Princess Azia has a famous mother in Sleeping Beauty. She was adopted at birth and is next in line to the throne. Azia feels she can lead her people without a husband. Her parents think she should marry at this time before she takes the crown. Enter a certain someone that she takes an instant dislike for who arrives to become her husband. Azia has other ideas, she throws a name of someone that she says she is dating. From there on she comes to know each one better and then there be dragons and more turmoil. I love the ever after books and I am eager to read the next book in this series. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and this is my honest review.

retelling or better yet continuation, this story mainly concentrates on Azia (sleeping beauty’s adopted daughter). A good start to this story looking forward to reading more.
So the story starts off with the daughter of sleeping beauty, who does not share her mother’s charm.
We soon learn about her heritage, well only somewhat, and that the worst possible ending has come to pass.
To tell the truth, I do not trust the fae in the tale one bit but will have to continue the series to find out more.
It took me a while to get used to the narrator’s voice and way of telling the tale, but soon I started enjoying how she changes her voice for each character. Now I need to go and find the next instalment.
I liked this book the story was engaging and the narration was not too bad. There are a lot of questions left that I hope leads to another book. Who wouldn’t want two men fighting for the attentions of one woman. She does seem a little spoiled but hopefully she grows out of it in the next book. One of the men seems to be out for himself and a tad bit self-centered and kind of mean. The other one seems to be a good man who genuinely likes the young lady. I guess we will find out what happens with the dragons in the next book.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from StoryOrigin for an honest review.
I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and any opinions expressed herein are my own.
This story is not a re-telling of Sleeping Beauty but rather the story of Sleeping Beauty picks up when her daughter Azia is told that her parents have arranged her marriage – trouble is that Azia does not like her soon-to-be husband and wants to embark on her own adventures. So, she tells a white lie to keep the marriage at bay…
This is the first book in the series. It is not a standalone and does end on a cliffhanger. Having said that, the story about Azia trying to come into her own is very engaging but the undercurrent to Azia’s hope for independence is Sleeping Beauty’s curse and how Sleeping Beauty was actually rescued. I found the way the author deftly wove together Azia’s story and Sleeping Beauty’s story to be very interesting and at the end of this book, I found myself wanting to know more. This is great family fare.
The narrator, Melody Muzljakovich, is terrific. She makes these characters come alive through her narration. She provides distinct voices for all of the characters and made this a very enjoyable and entertaining listen.
Happily Ever After – that is how fairy tales traditionally end, but real life does not end that way. New trials and tribulations always arise. In this case, life is about to become interesting for the Sleeping Beauty and her husband, who have coasted along without planning for future troubles. That leaves their daughter and heir Azia woefully and naively unprepared for the challenges of courtship and rulership. Her father’s lack of competence, the appearance of dragons and the pushiness of an undesired betrothed do not help. I am beginning to like Azia – she is spirited and opinionated, but very unprepared for life in general. I foresee some very difficult growing up experiences for her. So what happens next?
This author seems to be able to take me away when I need to most as this came at the right time. Not too many are getting me to read the different spin either on these fairy tales but this author intrigued me with what they had done. This has a better spin on it so it seems that this is after. What better to explore that right? This one centers on the daughter more so whom is Princess Azia with the twists that happen where she is concerned. Sure gives you a intriguing outlook on what happens after business. And also there is the dragons, oh how exciting. As this unravels it twirls around us. Fast and furious it wraps around us leaving us waiting to see what this author will give us next.
Having read the prequel I knew the standard of storytelling from this author on this story, nothing prepared me for how good part one was going to be.
A fantastic read. This read had me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole Read. The Author has done a fantastic job at bring this read to fruition the scenes are written so well that I can picture them in my minds eye. This is a real page turner with lots of twists and turns that keeps you enthralled with this read. I definitely recommend this captivating read. Its a must read.

Once I was able to forget that this book is a reimagining of a Sleeping Beauty after happily ever after I found the story really sweet and neat.
I’m also I love with the idea “chapter a day”.
However with the knowledge that this were supposed to be Sleeping Beautys children I have been missing her oldest children (famed twins).
While I liked our spirited heroine Azia I felt that as she is designed doesn’t fit into the story.
OMG this is just great! So excited to read this blurb :
“What happened after the happily ever after? You all know the story of your favorite fairytale, but did you ever wonder what happened after the fairytale ending? Well we know. Not all afters end up happily, sometimes the real adventure starts much later…”
This series follows fairytales 18 years after and OMG you will not be able to put this down! This first book is a twist on sleeping beauty’s happily ever after and follows her daughter! A thrilling read filled with action, adventure, dragons and a kick ass princess , I cannot wait to read more!
The first in an epic fantasy adventure in the after ever after of your favourite fairytales. This one starts with Princess Asia, daughter of sleeping beauty. A fast read with a chapter a day starting Jan 1. Not too late to catch up!
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
I have read and reviewed book’s by J.A. Armitage before and have loved them.
This book has left me wondering whether I’ve enjoyed it or not.
At times I’ve felt really annoyed at the main character Azia, I realise she is only eighteen, but the way she acts to say she is a princess and heir to the throne is very bratty.
I enjoyed the idea of the book and what happens after the happily ever after, I think with this series the first book lays the groundwork and the second book will be better.
I will read the second instalment, as like I said I do normally enjoy the way J.A. Armitage writes. And this book isn’t bad, but has left me divided.
