Dig a little and you’ll find photos of me in the bathtub with Ezra Stern.
Get your mind out of the gutter. We were six months old.
Pry and one of us might confess we saved our first kiss for each other. The most clumsy, wet, sloppy . . . spectacular thirty seconds of my adolescence.
Get into our business and you’ll see two families, closer than blood, torn apart in an instant.
Twenty years later, my “awkward duckling” best friend from childhood, the boy no one noticed, is a man no one can ignore.
Finer. Fiercer. Smarter.
Taken.
Tell me it’s wrong.
Tell me the boy who always felt like mine is now the man I can’t have.
When we find each other again, everything stands in our way–secrets, lies, promises.
But we didn’t come this far to give up now.
And I know just the move to make if I want to make him mine.

strong messy love
Kimba and Ezras second chance friends to lovers story was not near and tidy , it was messy but it was worth it.
I really enjoyed their journey as much as I got frustrated by kimbas Determination at one point – why she gave up another 18months escapes me to be honest when life is so short , but she did and they made up for it and found their HEA !
This book can definitely be read as a stand alone ! You don’t have to have read book 1 and 2 ! Lennix and Cade are spoken about a few times but their story is not crucial to understanding this one!
Great that the couple finally got together. Interesting about the mothers.
Amazing story. I cried and laughed and loved. Very touching story. Has so much depth to the story.
Queen Move is an epic friend’s to lover’s romance that follows Ezra and Kimba through many decades with love, soul and a passion beyond anything I have read in years. One of the things I loved most about this book is Kennedy Ryan’s diversity and attention to the details on everyone’s background. It made me fall in love with the story so much more because it is not something you typically see in your everyday romance novels which to me is sad.
Kimba really is the Queen!! She was everything you could possibly want in a heroine; strong, fierce, and loyal. She knows exactly what she wants in life and how to get it until one doctor’s appointment changes her life in the most earth-shattering way. Now some people will not see what happened to her as life shattering but as someone who has dealt firsthand with similar events it was so refreshing and heartbreaking to see this written about in such a beautiful way.
Now Ezra, charming and seriously HOT Ezra. Probably one of my favorite male MC’s of 2020!!! He was such a force when it came to Kimba and he wasn’t going to let anything come in between him and getting the one person he thought he lost forever more than 20 years ago.
Ezra and Kimba’s journey was not easy but it was a journey from childhood to now that will make you feel everything from joy to heartache. This story touched my soul in the most beautiful way that there was not one moment I was not rooting for their HEA!! That epilogue though!! BRAVO!!
Kennedy holds up Kimba and Ezra’s story to us like a diamond, every facet a beautiful part of a romance for the ages.
It’s totally appropriate that Kennedy Ryan, who is romance royalty, would write a book titled Queen Move. This book isn’t just a beautiful reunion romance about second chances, sacrifice and the healing power of love. It’s also powerful. Hard-hitting. Realistic. Deeply emotional. Passionate. Sexy as hell. Awe-inspiring. Gorgeous. And hopeful. It reigns as one of my favorite books of 2020
For a romance novel it contained too much explicit sex for me. I would have liked to have more character detail, description, etc. It did keep me entertained to the end. There was suppose to be an epilogue but not included in my edition.
Interesting, but not very realistic. Twenty years is a long time to stay in love with a person you played with as a child. The mothers’s relationship was a little unrealistic too.
Kimba and Ezra’s story like no other childhood love story. It’s heartfelt, enduring, and full of angst! Its a must read!!!!
Loved it and couldn’t put it down!
One of my favorite Kennedy Ryan books. I couldn’t put it down. 5 stars–so much passion and intensity. Just wow.
Update, I just got the audio for a reread!
I had high expectations- since I loved Kimba in The Kingmaker (duet).
Kimba is the best friend of the heroine, Lennix from All The King’s Men Duet.
Kimba is a political consultant, now running the company that she and Lennix started.
This is a friends to lovers, second chance romance and so much more.
Kimba and Ezra grew up together in Atlanta. They were very close friends, until they were 13 y/o when their parents had a conflict. Ezra’s family moved away. What happened??
Several years later: They meet again when Kimba comes back to Atlanta. Ezra and Kimba’s chemistry is so strong. Totally different from childhood of course.
There’s a lot going on in both of their lives. Ezra works in education, just read this to see how fantastic he is with his school and his students. This part is brief, but so inspiring.
There’s a lot that pulls them together. A lot that keeps them apart. I wanted them together, but I was conflicted since Ezra had obligations. Ezra is a really great guy and wants to do the right thing.
Kimba is very focused and driven, but also realizes that she’s been single a long time. She loves her career and is very successful getting her clients elected.
I LOVED: young Kimba and Ezra; their families; Kimba’s sister Kayla (she’s full of personality when she’s a teen and as an adult); Mona- she’s Ezra and Kimba’s long time bff (esp Ezra’s).
I could go on, but I really do reco this. The writing is so good. I would love another book of one of the supporting characters. I bought this kindle book (not KU) & I’m getting the paperback too! PS. I just got the audio from Audible. It’s now Whisper synced! + I now have the paperback now too.
I fell in love with these characters and rooted for them from page one until the end.
The earlier books in the series were better.
It was a pleasure to listen to such a well written story about Kimba and Ezra.
There’s so much to love about this story, that I don’t know where to start.
Kimba-a power house, a queen, whose in love with her longtime friend.
Ezra-a well rounded good guy, whose love of his life was taken away early on due to an unforeseen circumstance.
Time passes them by, but they find their way back together.
Kennedy Ryan’s writing of this story is impeccable, but if you’ve read any of her work before, you know how she takes you through a plethora of emotions and for sure, she doesn’t shy away from that with Queen Move.
I listened to this story which was narrated by new to me narrator Eboni Flowers and the oh so versatile and power house Jakobi Diem.
Eboni did a fantastic job as Kimba, I could not imagine anyone else narrating Kimba. I can’t wait to hear her in more stories! She did a phenomenal job!
Jakobi-what else is there to say! He’s great in everything he narrates! Wonderful job as always.
Kennedy Ryan keeps bringing her A game, she has a forever fan in me!
Queen Move was not what I expected. At all. I’m not saying this in a bad way, I was expecting a steamy second chance romance with dramatic moments and some angst. This story was so much more than that.
Kimba was an amazing heroine, the star of this story in my opinion. She was strong, feisty, brave and fiercely loyal to her family and friends. Ezra was charming, strong and intelligent.
The romance between them was amazing, the true definition of soul mates. Since they were children, there was always a deep connection between them. The glimpses of their past showed how strong their bound was. This story was emotional and beautifully written. There were a few details regarding Ezra’s life in the present that bothered me but I think those details made this story feel so real.
Queen Move was unique and powerful and left me speechless. Almost nothing in it went the way I expected, it was frustrating at times but it was still amazing. In the end, Kimba and Ezra’s journey made a lot of sense. Love is messy. But I still wish Kimba didn’t have to go through so much… She was a fantastic character and I loved her! WHAT A QUEEN! What a journey.
Such a beautiful multicultural love story. I loved this book from start to finish. I couldn’t put this book down. I felt Kennedy’s work in researching this story was strong, I loved all the nuances that were involved. Kimba and Ezra were a hurricane of love waiting to happen and I’m so happy I got to read their story!

What’s this book about? (I’m trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
They grew up together until one day it all ended. Years later, their explosive reunion is about to change their lives.
I discovered Kennedy Ryan this year after reading Long Shot, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Out of every book I’ve read by her, this one is my least favorite, but that doesn’t say much BECAUSE I LEGIT LOVE EVERY SINGLE BOOK OF HERS. Like, all the other books are ranked number one, and this is ranked number two. Kennedy takes us on another long journey through the history of these characters, and to be honest with you, I liked the past more than the present. I don’t know why I didn’t connect with the grown-up characters as much I as connected with their younger versions. It was a heartfelt story as one can expect from QUEEN KENNEDY. The characters were amazing as entities, and our leading lady had already mesmerized me from the All The King’s Men Duet. I loved Ezra’s kid, and I wished he had more page time LOL. He was adorable. All in all, this was a lovely read that I recommend.
ORIGINAL COMMENT
The relationship between the two leads didn’t grow on me when they were adults. I liked the characters, but once they grew up and started ‘dating’ I wasn’t as invested.
The ending ruined the whole book for me.
Gah, a month after reading this book, I’m still thinking about it.
