Kat and Cash’s story just may be my favorite of the series so far. Kat has been in love with Cash since she met him. They have an amazing friendship, but lately Kat is feeling a change may be needed. They set off in the Cadillac to hand it off to the next person in line, but their trip isn’t all sunshine and roses. There are sweet times, funny times, heartbreaking moments, and loving moments. Cash is swoon worthy and although he doesn’t realize it, he always puts Kat first. Kat is ambitious and sweet and deserves her happy ending.
I have traveled more in these books than I have in my real life, and I have loved every moment. Devney Perry doesn’t just make you love the characters, but you love the road that they travel just as much.
This is another five star read for me, and I’m anxiously waiting for the next book. Do not hesitate to continue in with this series, as this book is pure gold!!
Quarter Miles: Runaway Series by Devney Perry is absolutely everything I expected and more.
I was wondering how Ms. Perry would let Katherine and Cash’s story unfold, and I was far from disappointed.
Devney has a way of letting the depths of emotions and the complexities of relationships and even friendships play out the way they would in so many lives.
Thus, allowing her readers to truly connect with these phenomenal characters.
I love the strength of Kat and the the way Cash shows he has depths that we may not have guessed.
I hope one day I get to travel the quarter miles!
5 Stars
Quarter Miles is the third book in the Runaway Series, it’s Katherine Gates’ story. Katherine fell in love with Cash Greer the day he saves her from a goat, yes a goat! They have been friends, best friends, coworkers, roommates, and family, well sort of family for the past twelve years that was before he brought a girl home for Friday night family dinner. Everyone knows you don’t bring anyone home for Friday night dinner unless it’s considered a serious relationship. Dinner throws Kat into a tizz and ignites doubts and fears until Gemma suggests she takes the Cadillac to its next stop closer to California.
I think this is my favorite story out of the three so far, it’s unrequited love, friends to lovers story told by the incredible Devney Perry, her words and the way she brings her readers into the story and you feel you are taking part in the ride. The Cadillac is magical and so is Devney!
Another road trip in the Runaway Series, and what a trip it is. Cash and Katherine have been best friends and roommates for years. She actually fell in love with him a few years back, but didn’t want to threaten their friendship.
Katherine decided to take the Cadillac and head out for some serious thinking, and prepare herself for the fact Cash is strictly in the friend category. But, plans are upside down when Cash inserts himself into the trip. With a quarter to lead them on the road, talking with no outside influences, they both learn a lot more about each other. Could they actually have a HEA? But Cash has a secret, and it could be the end of them.
In this third book in the series we learn more about the Junkyard Kids from California, and thank goodness there is more.
Delightful story!

6 STARS!!!!!
Devney tugged at my heartstrings with both hands with the latest installment of the Runaway series. Book 3 was the story of Cash Greer and Katherine Gates and it was EPIC!! One of my favorite tropes, best friends turned lovers, was turned up a notch in this emotional journey. I could not put it down!
Katherine Gates has been cast aside by nearly everyone in her life who should’ve cared for her. A troubled childhood doesn’t even begin to cover the baggage that Katherine has carried with her into adulthood. Her biological family may not have been there for her, but she made new family in that junkyard respite long ago, and now the Greers have become her family. If she doesn’t distance herself from her best friend, Cash Greer, and allow her heart to loosen the grip it has on him, she may lose her best friend AND his family’s place in her life. So, she hits the open road. Long overdue for a vacation and a little R&R, the Greer’s fully support Katherine’s road trip, well….all except Cash Greer that is. His protective instincts roar to life, and Cash decides to call shotgun on Katherine’s journey to get epic space from Cash. Where the road would lead….neither could’ve ever imagined.
Let me be clear when I say that I adored Easton Greer, but honest to GAWD….my heart was not prepared for the way Cash would lay claim to it. He was a REAL man in every. single. sense.
I LOVED the way he cared for Katherine! He always had her best interest at heart and made himself vulnerable to her. He encouraged her and supported her, and made her feel worthy of love. My heart melted as he gently coaxed her to open up to him about her past. Begged her even. Gah….loved that!
I CANNOT STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS MAN!!!
UGH….how does one get over the man you’re in love with, your best friend in the world, when he’s packing the heat of Cash Greer?! HOW?!
YOU. DON’T!!! He loves you too much to let that happen.
This book has claimed my #1 spot of the series. They honestly get better and better. The characters are so endearing and the stories so heart-warming, that you just can’t resist the magic they make you feel!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
An uber sexy, unrequited love, friends to lovers story you must read!
Quarter Miles is book 3 in the Runaway Series and what a series it’s been so far!! This is Kat and Cash’s story, who were quick friends when they first met and seemed to stay that way far longer than Kat ever wanted. She is very much in love with Cash and Cash is oblivious and friend zoned her long ago. As Kat tries to move on with her life and get over her feelings, a road trip ensues which Cash crashes. The sexual tension in that car is palpable as you read further and further into the book. It was crazy sexy! These two had such an easy relationship as friends, got a little bumpy as they were trying to move beyond friendship and quickly moved into epic love story. Truly a great story.
I also walked away thinking I want to play the quarter game on my next road trip; seriously so fun and creative!
I have been a big fan of Devney Perry’s since she released The Coppersmith Farmhouse. And I have loved ALL of her books. But I must say, I truly think that Quarter Miles is my favorite of them!! Seriously, this book was absolutely fantastic!
After leaving the junkyard behind, Kat found her way to Montana, where she began working at the Greer ranch. Fast forward twelve years, and now she is the general manager of the resort, and lives with her best friend- and the man she has been in love with for years- Cash Greer. After realizing that her love for him would continue to go unrequited, she decides to take the red Cadillac that holds all of the junkyard kids together to her former friend, Aria, in Oregon. She needs time to think and get away from Cash. But, he won’t allow that, and the two of them begin a trek westward, with some left and right turns based on a quarter.
I think one of the things that really connected me with this book is that feeling of unrequited love that Kat felt. I could literally feel all of her emotions when it came to Cash, and I just had this draw to her. This is truly a testament to Ms. Perry’s writing and storytelling. All of the characters felt real, the plot was well-developed and paced appropriately. I could visualize Heron Beach, and wish it really existed because it sounds just like a place I’d love to visit!
Devney Perry’s Runaway series is so creative~ and while I loved Runaway Road and Wild Highway, Quarter Miles is my favorite in this series (well, at least so far… we still have a few more books until that red Cadillac makes its way to Karson in California)!!
Devney Perry has created another amazing small town, friends-to-lovers romance that I could not put down. I devoured this adorable and swoon worthy story in a matter of hours. The Runaway series seems to have this affect on me. I cannot put these books down. The entire series is made up of stories that are fast paced, heartwarming, and will make you feel all the feels! Quarter Miles is the perfect mix of all of the above. This story was a perfect journey for Katherine and Cash. I adored these two in Wild Highway, but fell completely in love with them in Quarter Miles. This was a perfect friends-to-lovers story for these two.
Katherine Gates worked her way up from housekeeper to general manager of The Greer Ranch and Mountain Resort. To say I’m impressed with her is an understatement. This woman started with nothing and worked her way up. She left California and came to Montana with very few personal belongings, the money she earned from working various jobs, and two of her girlfriends from the junkyard. She worked hard to earn her GED and never gave up the hope that she could strive for more than she had as a child. She never gave up hope for a family. Her mother was terrible to her when she was growing up. She never felt loved, cherished, or wanted. The Greer family made her feel all of that. She found the family she had always yearned for. They treated her with love and respect and they always wanted what was best for her. She truly found her place running the ranch and resort. Katherine is another amazing character that I admire. She is strong, resourceful, intelligent, kind, hardworking, and an all around good person. Just like Gemma and Londyn, she started with very little and through hard work and determination, she made something extraordinary out of her life. There were times I wanted to shake her, like when she questioned the Greer family’s love and need for her, but I truly enjoyed her character. She’s full of passion and fire. Katherine’s story was absolutely perfect for her.
Cash Greer. Holy moly. The Greer brothers are an intense bunch and I enjoyed every second. Cash and Easton are so similar to one another. Cash is the more laid back of the two brothers, but he can be just as fierce and determined as Easton. I loved reading every second about his character. He’s a sexy, stubborn, alpha-male cowboy that I could not get enough of. He’s fiercely loyal to both his family and Katherine. He puts their needs above his own. He’s a hard worker and loves working with horses. He’s kind, passionate, fierce, and protective. He’s truly excited about the new training facility, but disappointed that his brother didn’t include him in any of the decisions. He’s accepted that he’s the second son and will go with the flow even if he doesn’t always agree with everything. Katherine helps him see that he should fight for more. He should fight for himself and for his voice to be heard. His opinions and views on things matter. His voice matters. His family has good intentions, but sometimes his voice gets lost in the madness of family business. Cash is truly a great male lead and I was so excited to learn more about him in Quarter Miles.
Katherine and Cash together are everything. EVERYTHING! I absolutely love them. The story starts out a little rocky with Katherine trying to escape from Cash because she believes he couldn’t possibly return her feelings. She tries to run from him. Honestly, this is a common theme for Katherine. I don’t blame her for her response though. Running doesn’t solve the issues, but sometimes it seems too painful to work through everything you are feeling. My man Cash doesn’t let her run though. He weasels his way into her road trip and I am so happy that he did. These two have insane chemistry and how they didn’t act on it for over 10 years just amazes me. I would have been all over that. Cash and Katherine just work so well together. They basically know everything about one another, but still feel like there is so much more to learn. And the sexual tension between these two is intense. I had to fan myself a few times. These two are so perfect together! This is a terrific friends-to-lovers story that you don’t want to miss. If you enjoyed Cash and Katherine in Wild Highway, then you will completely fall in love with them in Quarter Miles. You will not be able to put this story down!
Overall, I rate this story a 5/5! I absolutely loved this installment of the Runaway series. It’s a fast-paced and enjoyable read. I devoured it in a few hours and didn’t want it to end. It is another classic, small-town Devney Perry romance that will not disappoint. I also love that she sets the the scene for Aria’s story! I love learning about all of the runaway kids and seeing how life has turned out for each of them. I can’t wait for the next installment in this series.
Quarter Miles is the third leg of the Runaway Road journey and the series keeps just getting better. Kat has been in love with her best friend and roommate Cash for years. What starts as a trip to get over him leads the friends to their happy ever after instead. Quarter Miles is a brilliant concept woven into an even more brilliant series concept.
I have to first start off by saying that this book is by far my favorite so far in this series. The unrequited love trope is my all time favorite trope and Devney Perry did an amazing job making us feel all the love and heartache that Kate was feeling. Katherine Gates has been in love with Cash Greer for years, he is her best friend, confidant and also roommate. But to Cash, she is like a little sister and it has taken a toll on her heart. Kate has decided that she has to get away for awhile and maybe try to get over Cash once and for all. The perfect solution was to get on the road and take over the hand off of the cadillac. Unfortunately for her, the very person she was trying to get away from decided to tag a long.
I really do not know how to convey how much I loved this book. Kate and Cash’s story had so many elements I love in a romance; an awesome heroine, swoony hero, heartbreaking past, love that mends that broken heart. Like the previous runaways, Kate had a difficult history, she internalized it and has not let many people in. Even during the junkyard days, she felt like she was not 100% part of the group. So to finally see her get the happily ever after made my heart so happy for her. As for Cash, he has really been there for Kate throughout the years, and he has always felt protective over her. This was the main reason for tagging along on this road trip. I loved how he really took the time and patience to finally get Kate to confide in him about her past. During this trip, many secrets are revealed from both sides, with many heartbreaking moments, but the love they finally revealed to each other was so beautiful.
I’m going to say it again, I loved this book!! Quarter Miles was definitely another 5-star read and I highly highly recommend it!

What a fun and sexy road trip romance!!!
If you are a fan of a friends to lovers story, then you HAVE to read this book. Quarter Miles is one of the best of this trope that I have read in a long time. I also loved the story behind the title of the book 🙂
Devney Perry has given us another fabulous book in this already fantastic series. Each story makes me fall in love with this series even more. I loved the idea of this series right from the start and it has not disappointed me at all!!!
This book is filled with laughs, heartache, anger and overall love. A love between the best of friends who finally realize that there might be more 😉 This is a fairly quick read, but it lacked for nothing. We got all the feels and connection that we always do in a Devney Perry novel.
I have to say I don’t think Ms. Perry can do wrong when it comes to writing a story. I have fallen in love with all of her books. She has a fan for life!!
Quarter Miles is the 3rd book in this series and can be read as a standalone, but I would highly recommend reading this series in order. I think it will enhance the reading experience. This is Katherine’s story. It is told in Dual POV and I thought the flow and pace of the story worked well. I loved how I felt like I was a part of Katherine’s trip. I have to admit, after reading this series, I am DYING to go on a road trip!!!! Just to see the open road and take an adventure.
We follow Cash and Katherine in this story. They are the best of friends, who work together and are also roommates. This starts out as a unrequited love story, but over the course of the book, things happen and hearts and eyes are opened. Can they make a future together? What happens when secrets are revealed?? Read this book to find out.
Again if you are a fan of Devney’s books or love a friends to lover story, then this is a MUST READ!!! Make sure to add this book to your TBR list and then 1-click it when it releases (New Release Date 7/21/20)
This book continues the ride in the Cadillac. Now it is Katherine’s turn at the wheel. She is running away from Cash Greer, her best friend, who she is in love with. There is just one catch. On the way out of town, Cash crashes her road trip by insisting he tag along. Their destination is her friend Aria in Heron Beach, Oregon. Will they find love on the road? This book has all the feels and if you are like me, you will speed to find out how it ends! I absolutely loved Cash and Katherine! Another 5 star read from Devney Perry!
