From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, friends-to-lovers romance.Katherine Gates has been in love with Cash Greer since the moment he saved her life from a runaway goat. According to Cash, she’s the little sister he never had, the greatest roommate in the world and his favorite coworker. They’re friends—best friends. In the dark days of her youth, it was her friendships … her youth, it was her friendships that kept her alive and made life in a junkyard worth living. So she’s learned to shove her feelings for Cash down deep, even if that means ignoring eyes that shine brighter than the Montana summer sun and the smile that illuminates the snowiest winter day.
Except with every passing year, the denial takes its toll on her wounded heart until one day Katherine decides to take an impulsive road trip to the Oregon coast. Alone. That is, until Cash cons his way into the passenger seat.
The farther they travel, the harder it is to pretend. And when she confesses her feelings, she learns that Cash has some secrets of his own. Secrets that will either bond them together.
Or rip them apart.

Another great fun read as the restored Cadillac continues its journey back to California. This time we have a friends to lovers tale and in true fashion the two main characters don’t communicate their true feelings because there would be no story!
Katherines childhood was horrible, here we learned how she ended up at the junkyard and her past is far from pretty. My heart goes out to each of the six children that ended up there. Lots of secrets revealed and a few twists you won’t see coming makes this yet another page turner.
I love how this:story is evolving and how each instalment is using a different sub genre. Can’t wait to see what’s up next.
Kat and Cash- I love them- I loved their friendship, their banter and watching their relationship grow.
Kat has such a complex childhood and as she opens up to Cash and really herself, I loved her so much. This is such a great story to how our pasts affect us. Cash too has a great family but has family pressures. As he too opens up and realizes how his family impacts him- it is amazing.
Devney Perry takes readers on this beautiful journey of two friends to lovers story I could not put down. I all the supporting characters and friendships and family that are truly real!
This series is completely captivating… I just can’t think of another word for it. Every time I read one of these Runaway books I think, oh this is the best one… until I read the next book and then Devney Perry releases another and I love it just as much. Kat and and Cash, sigh, they had my romantic heart singing. I swear, Cash was so thick headed, lol, he missed all the signs. Poor Kat, she wasn’t able to break free from that friend/sister zone… until that magical Cadillac!
Cash and Kat struggled to find their way together. Once there, they just fit. Sometimes it’s like it was always meant to be. That’s what Perry gives us here… a love built on a firm friendship with love and respect. I feel like this story had a bit more emotion than the other three. I spent a lot of time wiping up tears and smiling wistfully. Devney Perry has such a sweet and pure writing style that I find seriously endearing! It’s a complete joy with every new book she releases! I’m really excited for the next book in this series! I love me a surprise pregnancy!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
Katherine has been madly in love with Cash Greer for years. Cash, on the other hand, sees Katherine Gates as his best friend and roommate.
Kat’s unrequited love and the appearance of Cash’s girlfriend at a family dinner, sparks a chain of events that will completely change the way Kat sees herself, her role at the exclusive Greer resort and her relationship with Cash.
Setting off on a road trip to come to terms with the changes in her life doesn’t quite go to plan though!
I don’t know why it surprises me that Devney Perry can write vulnerable characters so well.
Kat seemed, to me at least, more vulnerable than any of the other ‘Junkyard Kids’ we’ve met so far and truly doesn’t recognise her own self worth or what she means to the Greer family as a whole.
Needless to say, this road trip was a defining point in Kat’s life just as it will be for Aria, when her time comes.
Kat’s road trip wasn’t just a journey to self discovery but in true romancelandia style it was the road to HEA for Kat and Cash.
Katherine and Cash!
When met these two in the previous book and the tension and chemistry was coming off them in waves.
It’s been a little while since read friends to lovers, and i remembered how much I loved it.
I really loved Cash, he was so easy to like and easy to read. I loved his inner monologue.
Katherine i was on the fence with, she was lovely but i felt like i didnt know her, which neither did Cash really. But she was just very aloof to me.
I’m really looking forward to the next book though!
Oh Devney you are seriously outdoing yourself with this series!
After meeting Kat in Wild Highway I was curious and intrigued on her story. I am absolutely loving how we are meeting each of these runaways and finding out their stories.
Kat has been living at the Greer ranch since leaving LA and has become an honorary member of their family. Only problem is that she is in love with their youngest son and her best friend Cash. She is now at the point where something needs to change so when Gemma arrives with the Cadillac she has the opportunity to take it to the next person in the chain, Aria. This will give her breathing room so sort her feelings out and work out what she is going to do next…right? wrong as all that goes out the window and Cash gate crashed her road trip.
The sparks between Cash and Kat is off the charts hot, even when they don’t want to admit their feelings. They are perfect for each other they just need to survive the secrets that need to be revealed.
I cannot tell you how much I am loving this series and the journey of self discovery that each of the Runaway characters go through, the healing, the journey, the re-forging of the bonds between them and ultimately finding their HEA
Can’t wait to read Forsaken Trail the next book in this series and Aria’s story.
4.75*
I’m pretty sure I started the last review of a Devney Perry book the way I’m about to start this one. I swear every book I read of hers gets better and better. This gripped me from page one and only let go for me to sleep a few hours then had me again.
We really met these characters in Wild Highway and Cash and Katherine are friend. Best friends. And I’m a sucker for a lot things, but ESPECIALLY best friends to lovers stories. And I really loved everything about this. The characters, the writing, the longing, the angst. Gimme more.
This was really touching in places and my heart broke in spots, but I LOVED these characters and I can’t wait to see what happens on the next leg of this road trip.
I received an ARC from the author and I volunteered to leave an unbiased review.
I am absolutely in love with this series. Everything about it. I love the backstory and the idea of this car uniting these adults who formed a family in a junkyard when they were teens but all lost touch through the years and along the way to each other they keep finding the thing they have been missing in their life, their HEA. Now it’s Katherine’s turn. I’m not going to lie this one has been my favorite. I absolutely love a friends to lovers romance.
Cash and Katherine have the best relationship but Cash is totally in the dark about Katherine’s feelings for him and he has been told she is off limits and he has not desire to lose her even if that means she is just a friend.
Then they start this road trip and suddenly it’s like those boundaries are gone and the chemistry match is stuck. Five days and everything has changed.
Now it’s Aria’s turn. Seriously though such a fun unique series!
**I was generously provided with an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review**
This is yet another fantastic installment of the Runaway Road series! I couldn’t put it down when it landed on my kindle! I adored how these two amazing characters find their way while traveling through the states and it makes me want to do my own Quarter Mile trip! This book will make you want to instill traditions for your family and brings a heart felt story that makes you feel as if you were the characters themselves.
Buckle-up for a road trip of a life time!
I can’t wait for the next story.
— ! ! .
I’ve been looking forward to reading Quarter Miles since I finished Wild Highway and it was better than I imagined! I knew Devney would knock this friends-to-lovers romance out of the park I just didn’t know how invested I would be in Katherine and Cash’s story. These two are PERFECT for each other. Both have hidden feelings for one another but don’t want to say anything because they can’t believe the other would ever feel the same. So, watching them break down the walls and come together is heartwarming and gorgeous. I was totally into this story, I read it in one sitting, and I had a big smile on my face when I finished!
If you’re looking for a romance author that will consistently bring you amazing stories then you don’t want to miss ANY book of Devney’s. I have loved each one and cannot recommend them enough! This particular series has interconnected standalones but should be read in order!
Oh Quater Miles
This “just because” literally made me cry!
Oh Cash you …. YOU! you drive me insane… how can you?
Katherine… I’m speechless how brave and strong you are ….
But damn Cash… you literally blown me away…
The flow of quarter mile is so smooth that you can’t help but feel for both of the characters… you’ll feel it.
It’s just stunning and captivating.
My fave Runaway series so far.
Quarter Miles is book 3 in this series by Devney Perry and with each one I grow so attached to this group! This books tells the story of Kat and Cash. Kat is very tight lipped about what she went thru in her childhood and she came to live in the junkyard. It’s a heartbreaking story but I love how she found her new “family”. Cash is the cowboy seeming content in life and oblivious to Kat. Their story was a good one and held a few secrets I never saw coming. So looking forward to what happens next with this crew!
Heads or Tails, this road trip was one for the books. Lana~ White Hot Reads
I fell in love with Kat and Cash in Wild Highway and couldn’t wait to read their story. Its now Kat’s turn to take the Cadillac on this portion of the road trip. Kat was hoping to get away to clear her head when Cash decides he needs to go with her. She was wanting to get away from Cash but instead it brought them closer. Truths were told and secrets revealed while hearts realized what they were missing. I couldn’t get enough of Kat and Cash. Quarter Miles has been my favorite so far.

Katherine “Kat” Gates has been in love with Cash Greer as long as she can remember being in Montana. They are best friends, roommates, and in his words, she’s the little sister he never had. That puts a damper on any feelings she has for Cash, and it is getting harder and harder to live under the same roof as the love of her life, since he doesn’t feel the same.
A quick decision to reconnect with a long lost friend in Oregon has Kat prepping for a solo drive in the car her friends are passing around the country in an attempt to return it to California. One step closer for the car and some much needed breathing room, the second part of Kat’s goal is foiled when Cash cons his way into the passenger seat.
The miles are not as easy as their friendship has been in the past, and the time forces them each to confront feelings they thought were hidden and unrequited. But Kat is also considering the direction of her life on this trip and though she loves Montana, the open road has her yearning for something new. Cash is hiding some things as well. The revelation of Kat’s feelings and Cash’s secret might be exactly what they need, or it might tear them apart for good.
I’ve been waiting for Kat and Cash’s story, and this did not disappoint. They go through so many different emotions as they flip a coin to determine the geographic direction of the trip. As they explore the West, they explore the feelings between them, leading to moments of discomfort and awkwardness, as well as heartfelt, sweet ones.
I loved the reunion between Aria and Kat. As we meet more and more of the group that lived together in the junkyard, I can’t help love each new individual and the journey they are on. Aria may not have made it to Montana with Kat, Gemma, and Londyn, but she did find her way to working in a hotel in a role that suits her personality perfectly. She will carry the next leg of the car’s journey, bringing it to her sister in Arizona before it makes its way to California.

I was excited to read about Kat and Cash after meeting them in Wild Highway.
Katherine spent her teen years as a runaway living in a junkyard with five friends and several of them ended up in Montana on the Greer Mountain Resort, but she was the only one that stayed. Years later she has worked her way up to running the resort and has been practically adopted by the Greer family. She is smart, dedicated, and a work-a-holic.
Cash Greer has been her best friend, pseudo-brother, and roommate for years…but unfortunately she has also been harboring non-brotherly feelings for him for over a decade. He is the perpetual good guy…charming, easy-going, kind, and protective. He is the second son so many decisions seem to be made for him and he just goes along with them to keep the family peace. And he is clueless when it comes to his best friend.
She is the type to run when hurt so when something finally pushes her over the edge, she is ready to take the borrowed car from her friend, Gemma, and drive it to Oregon to take to their old friend, Aria. A couple weeks away should clear her head and help her figure out how to deal with her life.
But she did not plan on the man she was running away from jumping in the passenger seat. Their journey is one of discovery. It alternates between awkward, emotional, miserable, and illuminating. They begin to fight, lust starts affecting decisions, and they start crossing lines of more than just the states. Their communication is tested. They are pushed out of their comfort zones. They are at a crossroads where they cannot ever go back but will have to find a way to go forward or their separate ways.
When she is ready to run again, will Cash figure out what he wants and chase her?
This is a fast-paced, heartfelt, hidden love, best-friends-to-lovers adventure full of feels and humor. Kat and Cash are so wonderful together. Even when they are fighting or ignoring each other, you can feel their connection and chemistry. But they both have had reasons for not taking a risk in the past because they had a lot to lose if it did not work out. And their hearts and heads seem to be fighting each other. They both have secrets and need an additional layer of deep trust. Family ties add both complications and their own agenda to the situation.
I have really enjoyed this series and getting to know these old friends and see how their lives have progressed. The whole premise of this series is unique and each of the stories has been touching and beautiful in their own right. They all still have growing to do in order to find their true happy place. This one relates more strongly to Wild Highway due to the Montana locale and family, but they are all intertwined. I am looking forward to Aria, Clara, and Karson’s stories.
Holy highways!!! This series has completely stolen my heart but Cash and Katherine absolutely OWN it!!!
Oh, the angst of unrequited love! Katherine has loved Cash for years but has been solidly placed in the “friend zone” with a side of “like family” to ensure she’ll never have the relationship she desires with him. So of course, a classic Cadillac convertible comes into play and Kat sets off to rid herself of the emotions the unattainable cowboy stirs in her.
I respected the heck out of Kat and the life she had worked so hard for. Because of her past she is hungry for love and a family that she can truly call her own. I totally understood her actions and reactions when it came to Cash as well as the rest of the family.
Cash on the other hand was a typical man with his inability to see what was right there in front of him and that is what sets up the angst that drives this story. However, I loved watching him wake up to his feelings as well as his patience at gaining more information from Kat regarding her history.
This is fast paced with characters that felt like friends, a touch of witty banter, and a backdrop that was brilliantly created. This chemistry between Kat and Cash was of the five-alarm variety even during a heartfelt epilogue that was perfect for this heroine. Highly recommending another friends-to-lovers book by one of the only authors that can do them right.
„Stay with me. Lean on me. I swear, I won’t let you fall.”
As soon as I finished reading the previous book in this series, Wild Highway, I was instantly excited for Quarter Miles! I just knew that it’s gonna be a great friends to lovers story and Devney Perry delivered so much more! My gosh, Cash and Kat’s story is incredible. So heartfelt and full of feels! I was drawn into this journey from the very first page and I literally felt like a passenger in that iconic Cadillac.
I adore Kat. Although she had a tragic childhood and her start into adulthood was tough, this woman showed with her stubbornness and diligence how much can be achieved if one wants to. She has a big heart made of gold and her strength is awe-inspiring. What she lacks in size she makes up for with her character – she’s a feisty little thing and I loved when she showed her spunk.
Cash is a walking definition of a good man. He’s caring, loving and protective. He’s also funny and persistent. I loved that he was careful and tender with Kat and that he knew when to push. Even though sometimes he was completely blind, he loved this woman and cared for her with all his heart. He always wanted the best for her and her friendship was precious to him.
I just adore that their relantionship evolved from a deep, sincere and long-lasting friendship that gave them a solid foundation to create something special. Although it took them a long time to find the courage to admit their feelings, Cash and Kat showed that neither length of the journey nor the turns on the way are able to stop them from reaching their destination. And when they unleashed the pent-up desire I swear I could feel my Kindle overhearting!
Quarter Miles is a wonderful story that made my heart burst at its seams. It made me smile, laugh and swoon. It’s a perfect addition to the Runaway series and I cannot wait to experience the next journey! And is it just me, or there’s someone else who can’t wait to meet Karson? Lol!
Oh my heart. It ached so much for Katherine. Unrequited love is never fun. It kills you slowly as you watch that one you want with someone else. So with her turn to take the car on the next leg of the journey, she takes it, but not without a little bit of a fight because she loves her job! When Cash weasels his way on the trip, I had a feeling there was going to be explosive moments and Perry did not disappoint with these two. From the raw emotions, unexpected moments and so much more, you delve into the relationship that is Kat and Cash. It is intense and passionate. Even with Cash fighting his feelings, you cannot deny how possessive he is of her. Kat could only fight for so long so when things imploded, I loved how Cash fought for her. I love how she put her foot down. I adored their banter and quick wit with each other. Their push and pull makes for an amazing read. Now I am dying to get my hands on the next book in the series!
3,5 Stars
While I really loved the first and especially the second book of the series, I didn’t like the third book as much as I wanted too. Don‘t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad. It‘s just not ‚My book‘ and that’s okay. It happens.
I was so excited for it, because the previous books were quick to read, you got sucked into the stories easily and before you knew it the book was over.
Quarter Miles is a sweet friends to lovers romance, but I couldn’t get into it, no matter how hard I tried.
In my opinion the chemistry between Kat and Cash wasn’t *that* great and there was lots of unnecessary drama, which is kinda sad because the non existent drama is a huge part of why I love the previous books so much.
I still recommend this book to everyone who loves Devney Perry, because I‘m pretty sure it’s just me who’s being weird with this one. 😉
She is still one of my favorite authors out there, and I‘m super excited for the next one in the series even tho I‘m sad that we left Montana with QM.
Another incredible story from one of my all time favourite authors, Devney Perry!
Devney has done it again and given us such a perfect story. With such original and well thought out storylines, incredibly relatable and well developed characters and attention catching writing, you can never go wrong with a Devney Perry book. Especially not one of her Runaway books, which this one is!
The concept(s) involved in all the runaway stories are so fun and original and really hook the reader from the very beginning. I can’t get enough of this series (if you couldn’t tell that already). The way that one book seamlessly flows into the story of the next makes this series all the more enjoyable. You feel invested in more than a single couples story, you feel invested in the whole group of characters and all of their happy endings! Cash and Kat finally received their long overdue happy ending in this story and I have no doubt that the stories to come will be just as romantic and perfect.
I absolutely cannot wait to see that Cadillac again and find out how our other runaways finally get their own happily ever afters. There are three more runaways left but only two more books. I’d be lying is I said that those two books don’t have me so insanely excited. The twins and the mysterious Karson!
I’d so looking forward to more Devney Perry books in the future and I highly recommend this story or any Devney story. Like I said in the beginning, you can never go wrong by choosing one of her works. This story gets all the stars from me, not just five!
