From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, friends-to-lovers romance.Katherine Gates has been in love with Cash Greer since the moment he saved her life from a runaway goat. According to Cash, she’s the little sister he never had, the greatest roommate in the world and his favorite coworker. They’re friends—best friends. In the dark days of her youth, it was her friendships … her youth, it was her friendships that kept her alive and made life in a junkyard worth living. So she’s learned to shove her feelings for Cash down deep, even if that means ignoring eyes that shine brighter than the Montana summer sun and the smile that illuminates the snowiest winter day.
Except with every passing year, the denial takes its toll on her wounded heart until one day Katherine decides to take an impulsive road trip to the Oregon coast. Alone. That is, until Cash cons his way into the passenger seat.
The farther they travel, the harder it is to pretend. And when she confesses her feelings, she learns that Cash has some secrets of his own. Secrets that will either bond them together.
Or rip them apart.

Ohhhhhh boy oh boy…y’all…Y’all thought Easton was the hot Greer brother. Just wait until you get a taste of Cash. Fierce. Protector. Hot as hell. Katherine definitely got the ride of her life this go round with the Caddy! Kat is also fierce and protective in her own right and they are absolutely combustible together! And I’m just loving the reconnected friendships throughout this journey with all of the kids from Lou’s and I simply can’t wait to dive into Aria’s book! This is one of the most unique story lines I’ve read in a long time and Devney know how to keep this genre fresh and exciting.

4.5-loved it stars!
I absolutely loved Quarter Miles by Devney Perry. This series has been one of my top favorite from this author so far. An emotional and sweet friends to lovers romance that will captivate you from start to finish. Katherine has been hiding her feeling for Cash for as long as she can remember. Those feelings are more than she can bear now when she feels he will never feel the same. A road trip could be just what she needs to get away. But what happens when Cash crashes her road trip?
I loved Katherine and Cash so much. They were always best friends and always wanted to be there for each other, so they held back. Watching those walls fall was everything! Highly recommend reading not only Quarter Miles by Devney Perry but the entire Runway series! I am so excited to see what is next!

5 Can They Survive Their Secrets Stars!!!
It’s taken a couple of days for my heart to recover from this newest book by Devney Perry. Katherine and Cash pretty much broke me a couple of times while reading their story. I knew there’d be angst with their story because, hello, she’s loved this man for years!!! But like most men, he’s been oblivious but that didn’t stop him from inviting himself on her journey with the Cadillac so off they go.
Both Kat and Cash have love in their heart and while Kat acknowledges her love for this stubborn, good looking and caring man, it takes a couple of proverbial hits over the head for him to realize what he should’ve realized years ago… that Kat is the woman he’s destined to be with. I loved their bond and how they were with each other making sure each were okay with whatever is happening in their life. And the Greer family loved this girl something fierce.
While they set on their journey to see Aria in Oregon, their trip is determined by the flip of a coin which of course leads to some interesting stops and in-between these stops are some pretty heavy duty conversations that result in feelings being exposed and them taking their relationship to another level which in and of itself creates a tension between them that neither likes. My heart was all over the place with these two. I could understand how Kat felt and what she wanted and why she was scared to admit it out loud. I also understood that Cash didn’t want to lose his best friend. But sometimes the leap needs to be made!
I absolutely loved how Kat and Aria reconnected which allowed Kat to make some decisions about where she wants her life to go especially since things may change at home. But what really cracked my heart open are the secrets that were shared between our H/h. There were moments that I truly thought how could someone withstand what happened. Ms. Perry did a wonderful job of showing how strength and will could result in finding that forever love. It’s not an easy journey for these two, but, when all is said and done, the love they’ve held in their hearts all these years blossomed into a different kind of love that both needed to be the best people they could be, because love truly has the power to heal!
Quarter Miles by Devney Perry is the third book in her Runaway series. Emotional interconnected standalone romances that take us through the lives of a group of runaways all grown up. This is Katherine and Cash’s story and it’s a friend-to-lovers with a bit of unrequited love added to the mix. Told in dual POV, we finally get some insight into Cash’s mindset and how he really feels about Kat, even when he doesn’t quite realize it. With this series we have travelled from Boston to West Virginia to Montana and finally to Oregon and a beautiful seaside town that threatens to steal Katherine away from the beautiful landscape of Montana and Cash’s family resort and ranch. The push and pull between these two is deep. Neither one can objectively view their situation. Add in the road trip sizzle and complicated feelings quite literally explode! I loved this – it was emotional without being dark, had a wonderful happy ending for Kat and Cash while also perfectly setting up the story for the next runaway, Aria. Loved it! Enjoy!
Cash and Katherine’s friends to lovers story was a dream. I absolutely fell in love with their friendship. The connection they have is what we all aspire to achieve with our partners, even though there was nothing romantic about it. Katherine’s role at the Greer’s resort and within the family warmed my heart. I loved that she had that bond with them and that she found her home there. The way Cash inserted himself on her toad trip made me laugh. I felt that there was something deeper there for him, as well. It built slowly and steadily, and it completely exploded once they gave in to their attraction. There is something so extremely special about this series. The characters are lovable and the kind that you want to see find their HEA. Not just because it is a romance, but because you feel they genuinely deserve it.
5 STARS
This series is AMAZING in every way. With each book in the series they get better and better! Quarter Miles is the 3rd book in the series and follows runaway, Katherine Gates. We met Katherine in Wild Highway and ever since I have been eager to read her story. Kat has had a tough childhood being a runaway. She and a group of her friends that were living in a junkyard in their teens happen upon Greer Mountain Resort. Among her friends Kat is the only one that stayed. Kat has a sweet soul. She is grew up way too fast but has found a family amongst the Greer’s. She is loyal and extremely hard working.
Cash Greer is Katherine’s best friend and roommate but what he doesn’t know is that she has been hiding her feelings for him for over 10 years and those feelings go beyond friendship. Cash is a gorgeous, frustrating man but also has a beautiful, kind heart. He is protective and caring over his family and loved ones.
On a whim Katherine decides to take a road trip in the old Cadillac left by Gemma, to Oregon with the plan to drop it off to friend and fellow runaway, Aria but what she doesn’t anticipate is Cash jumping in the passenger seat and inviting himself along.
Quarter Miles is a truly beautiful, angsty, emotional journey between two best friends turned lovers. I adored Cash and Katherine. Their friendship, their banter, the humor, the sweet moments and the passionate ones I couldn’t get enough of. I read this in one sitting and devoured every word, thought and feeling. Even through the frustrating moments you can feel so much chemistry and love between these two.
This series is uniquely written and I am eagerly awaiting Aria, Clara and Karson’s books next.
As soon as I’d finished Wild Highway I was desperate to get my hands on Quarter Miles. The chemistry and tension between Katherine and Cash had me needing to know more so I was more than looking forward to Katherines story and where it would go.
The Cadillac has passed hands again and it’s Katherines turn to go on a road trip. This has got to be one of my favourite things about this series. That a car can be such an important piece of someone’s past but also be the reason why the same people are now reconnecting, I just love it. Katherines road trip couldn’t have come at a better time, she’s spent years hoping Cash would see her as more than a little sister and when reality comes crashing down, she’s knows it’s time she pulled her head out of the clouds and decided what’s she’s going to do with her life. What’s meant to be a journey to process her feelings soon changes when Cash refuses to take no for an answer and invited himself along for the ride.
These two characters are great. I loved the banter between them and the obvious love and affection they have for each other. They’ve got a great friendship even though they couldn’t be more different. Cash is easy to like. He can be stubborn but I kinda like that. I don’t mind a bossy man (in my books). He’s pretty easy to read, he’s easy to get to know (if that makes sense) whereas Katherine is less forthcoming so it took me a little while to feel like I actually knew her. She doesn’t like to talk about her past and I could understand why but when she did eventually open up I ended up really liking her.
I love this series. It’s one of those that I can’t wait to start the second I have it on my kindle and with each book been better than the last, I can’t wait for the next book and the next runaways story!
ABSOFREAKINLUTELY PERFECT! This series is just getting better and better. I didn’t think Devney would be able to make me love anything more than I did Gemma and Easton’s story, but boy am I oh so glad I was wrong. Cash and Katherine are everything. It’s been weeks since I finished reading and I still can’t get my words in order enough to do this stunningly beautiful love story justice.
Kat has been in love with Cash Greer since she first laid eyes on him in her teens, quickly taken up as a member of the Greer family, Kat was relegated to the role of little sister/best friend to Cash, and has sat by for years keeping her feelings to herself. After one Friday night dinner, things change and Kat needs to get away from Cash and give herself time to get over him, so Gemma suggests taking the Cadillac on to Aria in Oregon. As Kat is about to leave for her trip, Cash gets in the passenger seat and refuses to leave, so it looks like Kat’s ‘get over Cash’ trip has become a break away, just the two of them.
Let me say, I wasn’t a fan of Cash when I started, after reading the ending of Wild Highway, but from the very first page, I fell in love with him. A loyal friend, brother and son, Cash can’t understand why Kat would want to go away without him, he loves spending time with her, and keeping her safe on the journey is just an added bonus. However, when the pair are in close quarters without the distraction of daily life at the ranch, Cash begins to see what’s been under his nose all this time.
This story is jam packed with everything I love about Devney Perry books, a once in a lifetime love, hidden secrets unearthed and an adventure you just want to be on with the characters you can’t help but fall in love with. I’ve underestimated Devney with this series so far, not thinking that the next could be better than the previous, but with only two books to go in this series, and being spoilt with the previous two releasing so close together, I’m not sure my heart can take the wait for these final instalments. Bring on Aria’s story.
Quarter Miles, Katherine and Cash story is an emotional one. Friends to lovers that will tug at your heart. Each story in this series focuses on the baggage these kids from the junkyard carry. Katherine and Cash best friends though Katherine has always felt more where Cash has been clueless but one night during their journey changes everything and has each feeling conflicted and the twist was just wow.
Loving this series from Devney Perry as always her books pull you in and don’t let go u til the last page!
I loved this book.
Cash & Kat gave me all the feels I didn’t even know I was searching for.
Unrequited love? Friends to lovers? Road trips? Honestly these are some of my favorite things, just done so well.
The concept of this series is fresh, giving us an interwoven plot amongst the romances we’re finding along the way.
I can’t wait for the next book.
Oh I just love this series! And I think Quarter Miles is my favourite of the three stories so far.
This story is the turn of Katherine. We met her in the previous book. She has done so well with her life, with a successful job and career at the ranch, and the Greer family who treat her as one of their own She has found her feet and is settled. However, she does still have this nagging feeling of not truly knowing where her home is. Mix that with her unrequited feelings towards her friend and housemate, Cash, and she’s ready for a change of scenery. So when it’s her turn to take a road trip she decides its her perfect opportunity!
Kat and Cash’s journey is sweet, sexy, romantic and totally swoon worthy. It’s jam packed full of angst and I couldn’t work out where the story was headed. I absolutely loved it, with some really heart to heart & emotional parts which had the tears flowing, made this a 5 star read for me.
Brilliant!
It’s a road trip that was destined to revisit the tendrils of the past. All of the memories from a forgotten life are traveling the country in an automobile that was once home to a band of homeless teens. Now it’s Katherine’s turn to revisit the past, and there seems to be a roadblock placed into her path.
Katherine has spent years longing to have the affection of one man that doesn’t seem to feel the same. Cash Greer is the son of Kat’s employer and her roommate. The two have never moved past the stage of just being friends. With an unexpected dinner guest fueling Kat’s mood, a road trip for the ages became much more appealing. As Kat sets off for her adventure, and unexpected companion takes the passenger seat on a trip that will test the bonds of friendship.
Quarter Miles is the next installment in the Runaway Series by Devney Perry. This novel follows Katherine on her trek across the US for her leg of a journey to return a piece of a tattered childhood. What will tease you from beginning to end is the quest that Kat takes to find love. Cash and Katherine caught my attention in the last book of the series, and I couldn’t wait to see what transpired between the two. I will admit – this couple pissed me off!! That’s right…..I found myself screaming at Cash and Kat to get it together!!
Up next – fans will find another tease for the promise of what is to come with the next book. I will admit….I CAN’T WAIT!!! The Runaway Series will capture you heart and leave you wondering what is in store for each of our runaways in their journey to finding a place to call home!! Add Quarter Miles to your reading list today!!
Honesty time. I was nervous about this book. Another best friend unrequited love book? We’ve done this trope so many times I am convinced we can’t do it any differently. And honestly, we can’t.
Here’s the thing though, Devney Perry writes good books. I think the woman could rewrite the dictionary and somehow we’d all find it an epic love story, that’s just how good she is.
When the story starts, I am all in it; I am rooting for Katherine Gates. She is taking this trip, forgetting the man she has loved and hasn’t loved her back for years. It’s the ultimate middle finger girls trip, and I’m all for it. Then, he goes with her. Now, I said we were being honest, right? So at this point, I was disappointed. I’m thinking, not again! I’ve read this same plotline so many times that I could recite it by heart. So I set the book down, stepped away, and waited until I was in a different mindset. Here’s what happened when I came back.
First, I fell in love with Cash. As irritated as I was about how I thought I wanted this book to go and how it did go, I had to love him. And even more? I had to love him for Kat because they just made sense.
Second, never doubt the power of a Devney Perry book experience. Was this my favorite Devney book? No. But it was still exceptional. She tells a story so brilliantly that it seems effortless. What I realized was, this wasn’t my story to tell it was hers. I wasn’t reading Quarter Miles for it to be what I wanted; that’s the beauty in reading other people’s work. Ultimately you never know what you are going to get.
I’ve delighted in the wanderlust this series has brought us so far, and excited to see where the Cadillac will take us next in this adventure.
To say I couldn’t wait to read Quarter Miles would be an understatement. I’ve been anticipating Katherine and Cash’s story since the taste we got of them in Wild Highway. And I’m not at all surprised that it filled me with happiness and left me so in love with Kat and Cash.
My heart ached for Kat and everything she went through and what she endured. Her childhood was anything but easy, and needing to grow up faster than she needed to. But she persevered and worked hard to get to where she is and become the successful woman she is. She finally had people around her she considered as family. The Greer family opened their arms to Kat and love her like their own. But it’s been years that Kat’s been in love with her best friend Cash, and not in a brotherly way. She needs time to figure things out so she sets off on a road trip that so happens to include an uninvited guest. And one thing is certain, it’s bound to be a bumpy ride.
Cash considers Kat the sister he never had. They’re best friends who work together and the best of roommates. But with one road trip Cash starts seeing Kat in a different light. Or maybe he’s always seen her that way and finally realizing his feelings for her are deeper than he knew.
Kat and Cash made my heart happy. I loved their banter and easygoing nature. I loved their friendship so much. And watching that friendship develop into something more was beautiful. The trust they had in each other made their relationship stronger. They really complimented one another so well. I loved these two so much.
Quarter Miles is a friends to lovers romance with so much feeling. You can’t help but fall for these characters. Once again Devney delivered with an amazing story that brought the emotions. I can’t wait for more of The Runaway series and see where it takes me next.
The Book out of the series!! I had to read it in one sitting because as usual Miss Perry gave us an emotional roller coaster, it was simply breathtaking!
3.5 Stars
Quarter Miles is the third book in the Runaway series, with the Cadillac continuing its journey back to California.
This story definitely felt a little faster paced to me, but definitely just as emotional if not more so, than the first two. I really liked that this one was a road trip involving two characters, and the friends to lovers trope is always one of my favorites.
Kat & Cash are both on this road trip for very different reasons, and it was fun to see those reasons change as the trip went on. Unfortunately, their journey didn’t end up living up to my expectations, and I really wish there was just a little “more” for them. I definitely wanted more happier moments for them, and wish we got more of the road trip home which I’m sure was an amazing ride. I did love how the quarter played into the trip, and as with the rest of the series I really liked how family and the different forms it can take played into the story.
My favorite thing about this series is that with each book not only are you getting the character’s story, but peeling back more layers of their shared past. I have a feeling it’s building up for an epic ending and I’m really excited to see how the rest plays out.
Quarter Miles is book 3 in Devney Perry’s Runaway series. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the road trip and the picture the author paints of the landscape and small towns. I find my self very invested in the characters in each story in this series. We keep learning more and more back story to each character and their childhood and I’m just loving how it’s all coming together. Devney’s writing is phenomenal. She really can make you feel like you’re on the journey with them. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book!! Five stars!!
This. Book. Was. Incredible. HOLY SMOKES.
I did not expect to be reading this books and fall completely in love with Cash. But by gosh, I surely did. Wowza!!
I’ll be honest, I hoped for a Cash & Kat story because I just had a hunch that there was more than what met the eye with the two of them. This did NOT disappoint!!
I was blown away with Kat’s character. I will say, I wasn’t super sold on her with her first appearance in Wild Highway. She definitely needed her own story to elaborate on her character. Closed off, but a boss babe, I related to her all too well. I loved that about her! It’s too easy to close yourself off when having dealt with trauma you don’t want to revisit. Her character was written well for that.
Cash is a typical guy, meaning well all the time, but not executing his feelings perfectly. I think we can all relate to that on some level at least one point in time in our lives! He’s protective, and caring..which makes him HOT to the very core, at least to me.
And the two of them together…FIRE!!!
Buckle up y’all – Katherine and Cash are about to take you to angst city!
What a ride! As usual, I was hooked immediately – already primed for and emotionally invested in Katherine and Cash’s story, I was so anxious to see how their friends-to-lovers story was going to play out. This was so compulsively readable – it moved quickly and I genuinely loved these flawed but lovable characters and their fumbling, sometimes painful journey to love.
While I did love this story, I didn’t always feel the connection to Katherine and Cash that I was craving. I think that maybe I would have liked to have spent more time with them as they actually fell in love. I felt like a lot of time was spent watching them grapple with and fight against what they were feeling, but there was no time to appreciate the moments that made them fall in love – as most of that took place in the past and so was told, and not shown. I feel like getting to be a part of some of those moments would have helped me feel that deeper connection to Katherine and Cash’s decidedly turbulent story.
That said – the ending was exactly what my sappy little romance loving heart wanted. Worth every moment spent wanting to give them a good push or knock their heads together. Sweet, adorable, and joyous. The best.
I’m loving this series so hard, and I am already dying for Aria’s story. I’ve said it before – the concept of this series is just genius, and the execution has been so much fun to read. If you haven’t joined in on the adventures yet – there’s no time like the present!
Devney has done it once again! With each book in the series, they get better and better. It’s so hard to pick just one character to love. Quarter Miles was such an amazing read and I loved everything about it. I loved the friendship between Kat and Cash but I was really interested to see how Kat’s road trip would turn out with Cash joining her.
I really liked how we also got more background on Kat and I really felt for her. It broke my heart to hear about her childhood but that’s why she’s such a strong character.
I’m so excited for Aria’s story, I cannot wait!
5 Stars!
