From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, friends-to-lovers romance.Katherine Gates has been in love with Cash Greer since the moment he saved her life from a runaway goat. According to Cash, she’s the little sister he never had, the greatest roommate in the world and his favorite coworker. They’re friends—best friends. In the dark days of her youth, it was her friendships … her youth, it was her friendships that kept her alive and made life in a junkyard worth living. Except with every passing year, the denial takes its toll on her wounded heart until one day Katherine decides to take an impulsive road trip to the Oregon coast. Alone. That is, until Cash cons his way into the passenger seat.
The farther they travel, the harder it is to pretend. And when she confesses her feelings, she learns that Cash has some secrets of his own. Secrets that will either bond them together.

This is book three in the Runaway Series by Devney, and is Kat and Cash’s book. While this can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series. u2063

Starting pretty much where Wild Highway left off, it is Kat’s turn for a road trip in the infamous Cadillac. Driving it to the next runaway in line. The trip is planned as a means for Kat to get away and think about her friendship with Cash. Yet this doesn’t happen at all when Cash gate crashes her road trip and tags along with her. u2063

I loved this book and the characters, but I do have to say there were a few times where I could have banged Kat and Cash’s heads together. u2063

Kat is understandably cautious with her heart, with the kind of past she has. But in some aspects she was too cautious, which is why I was wanting to shake her some of the time.u2063

Cash, the sexy cowboy with a heart of gold. Is a typical man who can’t see what’s right in front of him until it hits him in the face. I wanted to shake him as well through some of the book, to open his eyes and see Kat for the perfect woman she is for him. Needless to say I was shouting at my kindle a lot reading this lol. u2063

Linda’s Book Obsession Reviews “Quarter Miles” by Devney Perry, July 21, 2020
Devney Perry, author of “Quarter Miles” has written an entertaining, and romantic story. The genres for this story are contemporary fiction, women’s fiction, and romance. The timeline for this story is in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters or events. The story takes place in Wyoming and Oregon. The author describes her characters as complex, complicated, and flawed. This book is part of a series but can be read alone.
Katherine Gates has gone through many difficult hardships in her life. Presently, Katherine is working for an exclusive resort owned by the Greer family in Montana and is best friends with the owners’ son Chase Greer. Katherine really is in love with Chase and is devastated when he brings a date to a family dinner. Katherine realizes that she has to take a break, and needs a vacation to think her life over.
Katherine is determined to drive the Cadillac that a friend had overhauled to visit a special girlfriend that she grew up with. Katherine decides she will flip a coin along the way to take special detours. A major roadblock to this adventure is that Chase decides to go with her. Both have deep secrets. Just note, this will be an exceptional journey, and I recommend that you read about their road trip! Happy Reading!
I loved the story between Kat and Cash. I have loved this series and can’t wait to read about the next couple. I wish there would have been a few more chapters of their lives on the ranch after they were back at the ranch. I loved this book read it you will not sorry that you do.
Quarter Miles is book 3 in the Runaway series. Each can be read as a stand-alone but I feel that they are better enjoyed when read in order. Each book tells the story of one of the junkyard kids (they were runaway teens who lived together in a junkyard) after they’ve grown up. This is the story of Kat and Cash, best friends for years, who go on a road trip together and along the way, realize they are so much more than friends. I devoured this one! I love this friends-to-lovers romance, even though the duo did frustrate me so much at times. This unique series just keeps getting better and better and I can’t wait for more.
This one by Devney Perry was fantastic!
Friends to lovers was never so enjoyable to read.
I felt like I was in the story right along with Katherine…the author paints such a realistic picture with her words. This book was beautiful, sometimes heartbreaking, adventurous and really takes the reader on Katherine and Cash’s journey. We get to explore unique places too during the trip which I loved!
Another wonderful love story from the fab DPerry!
I love these books. They are quick easy reads. There’s adventure. There is a great family. I love the concept of the caddy going from friend to friend. I loved how Katherine took her quarter and wasn’t afraid to hit the road. I loved how Cash weaseled his way into her vacation. I enjoyed their journey. Can’t wait for the rest of the books.
I am so giddy and satisfied after reading Kat and Cash’s story. This series just keeps getting better. If you are reading along the series, which I highly recommend as they are all interconnected and you get the best experience from reading them in order, then you probably felt heartbroken for Kat like I did. And she decides to go on a trip to do some soul searching. Cash worms his way to take part in her trip and I could have listened to their inner dialogues and felt the chemistry and tension forever. I love the concept that they used to determine which way to go. There’s a bit of mystery that is revealed that took me by surprise. And the ending was just perfection. Can’t wait for more!
So, I am going to start this by saying I did not read Wild Highway. I probably should have but I didn’t. So I went into this completely blind not knowing what was going to happen. But even though I hadn’t read Wild Highway I was immediately drawn into this story. Devney has crafted a simply beautiful Friends to Lovers Romance that is sure to leave a smile on your face and a warmth in your heart.
Kat and Cash have been friends for 12 years and during that time Kat has developed not so friendly feelings towards Cash, but has kept it to herself for a myriad of reasons. I loved watching Kat and Cash’s relationship, you could tell they have been friends forever, they just had this comfortable feeling around each other. That feeling of calm was felt through the pages and settled into your soul. And watching as their relationship progressed you could feel that tension build and build spilling from the pages and nearly suffocating you. This is the mark of a great writer when those feelings that they elicit literally surround you. The only thing I would have liked just a little more of was the build up during the progression from friends to lovers it seemed to happen rather quickly, but it was still beautifully done.
I loved Cash he was absolute perfection. This man is the very definition of a really noble man. He is sweet, loyal and pays the utmost attention to detail when it comes to Kat. But, the parts I loved most were when you got to see his possessive alpha side. Who doesn’t like a man who’s going to get all growly and intense on occasion to show you just how much he cares. This dichotomy between his friendship side and his alpha side was quite intriguing. I wasn’t sure he had it in him, but I am very pleased that I was wrong.
Kat is wonderful, she is someone who’s come from a very dark and heartbreaking past. And she has fought tooth and nail to make something of herself. I was so very proud of her I’d only just met her in this book but that didn’t stop my heart from swelling just learning how far she has come in her life, and that she did it on her own. This woman is a gift and proves that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and put all your effort behind it. I loved Kat’s tenacity and spirit that just could not be broken. She is truly an exceptional heroine.
Devney has created a warm and inviting friends to lover’s romance that will give you all the feels. Kat and Cash are absolute perfection and the progression of their relationship is done in the best way. This book is a perfect light read with a very satisfying HEA and low angst that is sure to make you smile.
Enjoying this series and its connections.
So these books are connected not only by the characters, but by the red cadillac that was a prominent part of these runaways’ pasts. Each book tells its own story about a different couple, but the car remains a common theme that connects them.
This is Katherine and Cash’s story. In Book 2, you really had your doubts that these two would have a story, but this one is interwoven between a cross country road trip, the angst of being in unrequited love with your best friend, the angst of finding out you are unexpectedly in love with your best friend and the complexity of where you belong in the family circle.
It was a little heartbreaking to learn of Katherine’s uncertainty of her place in the Greer household and you just wanted to slap Cash and tell him to wake up to what is right in front of him. This one had more unexpected angst in ways I didn’t see coming.
“Never in my life had a kiss been this intense or consuming. The spark wasn’t just a flicker, it was a wildfire that might destroy us both, leaving nothing but ash and destruction in its wake.”
The car is a great tie for these long lost friends and I am looking forward to the next miles this car will take down the road.
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
Heads or tails will determine where they go as the road-trip begins. The last trip took us to Montana; now Katherine is taking a vacation and headed to Oregon. These books are written well and have an amazing theme. Who would have thought long ago street urchins and runaways would make something of their lives. The story-line has some “he loves me” “he loves me not” and it makes for a great adventure. The book will make you smile and then again you want to smack some sense into a couple characters, but, you move on and love the story right up until The End.
Quarter Miles by Devney Perry is NOW LIVE!!! Katherine and Cash are everything, this story had me swooning like crazy.
Katherine has always been in love with Cash but he’s always seen her as his best friend, so when she finally decides to take a much needed vacation the last thing she expects is for Cash to join in on the ride. Y’all, Cash was EVERYTHING. I love how he didn’t take no for a answer, Cash is so dreamy I just couldn’t get enough of him.
This series just keeps getting better and better. Devney has outdone herself with this series. I wish I could give this more than 5 stars.
Quarter Miles is book 3 in the Runaway series by Devney, and in this book we get Katherine and Cash’s friends to lovers story.
Thank was interested to see how this story would play out, especially with how passionate and deep book 2 had been, but this story didn’t disappoint.
Kat has been secretly in love with Cash for years. They’re best friends and also live together, but Kat always yearned for more from him. Unfortunately, Cash had her firmly in the friend zone and treated her like one of the family.
When a surprise guest at family dinner is sprung on her, Kat knows she needs to get away and put a little distance between her and Cash. But after a spot of meddling from friends, that doesn’t quite go to plan.
What was supposed to be a lone trip to deliver the Cadillac to an old friend, soon becomes a journey of enlightenment, realisation and honesty (eventually) for the both of them. But when all the cards are on the table, with they get their shot at happiness together? Or will they lose each other forever?
I am so in love with this series, each book is a completely different story to the one before, keeping the stories interesting and intriguing. I’m a huge fan of Devneys books, having only discovered her writing last year, I’m lapping up her addictive words!
This book was deep, it was heartfelt and emotional. While I wanted to shake both characters a few times to wake them up, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how their story changed along the journey.
5 stars
Road trips are supposed to be cathartic…they’re supposed to allow the passengers an escape – a way to let go and free themselves from what’s been holding them down, maybe even a way to take an inventory of their lives and figure out a way to change course, if need be, taking risks they never thought they would.
But, for Katherine Gates and Cash Greer taking a road trip together, especially when Katherine didn’t anticipate her best friend talking his way in as a member of the first vacation she’s taken in forever, makes everything more complicated, because one way or another, this trip will either solidify and help them both acknowledge their true feelings and finally give them a chance for what she’s always wanted and perhaps what Cash needs.
Because both Katherine and Cash are working overtime to suppress their feelings for each other, the angst is up there, especially since they’re together in a vehicle on a road trip…they literally cannot get away from each other – there’s nowhere they can go to take a break, which means they are forced to tamp down their emotions and their need for one another, while acting normal…acting like it’s not killing them to be with one another but not truly with each other.
I loved getting their backstory, witnessing how their friendship grew and identifying when it became more for her and then when he finally realized what she meant to him. I do wish I had more of their burgeoning love in the present, but Katherine and Cash’s history is a must to learn and understand…maybe I just was hoping to see everything they had become so that they got all that they had worked for and could focus on the here and now and not on what used to be.

And Quarter Miles has just became my favorite book in this series. Love love LOVED it. Wonderful characters and a story that makes you want to go on your very own adventure and find not only yourself, but true love.

The story of best friends becoming more has never been so PERFECT!
To say I was waiting on pins and needles for Katherine and Cash’s story is an understatement. The Runaway Series just keeps getting better and better and every couple causes you to fall more and more in love with these characters. Quiet, reserved and all business, Kat needed a trip and time away from her life in Montana, though she wouldn’t admit it. When Cash finds out she is going and invites himself along, let’s just say her intentions for this trip fly out the window. What follows is a tender, sweet and sexy story of two people discovering the future they want and can’t have, if they just open their hearts, and their eyes, to what is already right in front of them.

Wow. I think this might be my favorite of Devney’s Runaway series! (Although I’m pretty sure I said the same thing about Wild Highway ) I was dying to see how Kat would handle getting over her feelings for Cash and when he invited himself along on her trip…I was just so sure I could guess how it would play out. Y’all. I was so happy that this played out so different than I had imagined.
These two had me all up in my feels and I didn’t want it to end!
I’m so glad that Aria’s book is coming! I can’t wait to see what happens next!!
Jump in its time to take a drive in Quarter Miles with Katherine and Cash. An angsty, feel good emotion filled romance, that will have you begging for more as you turn the last page of your kindle.
I loved this book and series fiercely!! I loved the tension between Kat and Cash. It was a very fun and easy read with some twists and emotions thrown in. I love the concept behind this this series and how the Cadilac that once was a home to runaways has become the biggest staple of the series!! Cash and Kat are the best. I love the best friends turned lovers trope. And hello Easter Egg in the epilogue!!! I can’t wait to continue on with the series.
