This series keeps getting better and better. This story is about Katherine and Cash. It’s starts out like the other about Katherine running from something and this journey allowing her to take aa well deserved break. That is until Cash Greer decides to gate rash her vacation.
These two are best friends and watching them on this journey was amazing. Their own self discovery, their discovery of each other, healing and falling in love was just beautiful to read.
Like always Devney Perry created magic on a page and you are glued to their story from start to finish. It’s the perfect package wrapped up in this story.
Loved it so much. Hope you do to.
Enjoy!!!
Once again Devney Perry does what she does best.
She gives us a down home story of love, survival, instinct, forgiveness and passion.
She gives us characters that are as real and down to earth as the next door neighbors.
She reaches into her bags of tricks and continues us on a journey in a revamped Cadillac that holds far more secrets and love than any diary written.
Loving someone from afar is never easy. Pining after someone that has placed you in the friend zone is heart wrenching. Finding your way to each other is what great love stories are made from and this is a great love story. Kat and Cash are a great love story.
Once again Devney gives a five-star read.
I am loving this series. The idea of a road trip cross country with a hand-off from old friend to old friend is pure genius.
This one started out slow for me. I kept going though. I had a feeling it would pick up, and it sure did. Once things started to get good, the story flew by.
Kat got on my nerves a little. And if I’m honest, so did Cash. But I was determined to see their story through. Their lack of communication and self-doubt was a bit annoying, however, that was the focal point of why they remained friends for so many years. I enjoyed seeing the light bulb go off in both of their heads that life the way it was between them needed to move forward.
I enjoyed this leg of the road trip. I am looking forward to the next leg. And I’m curious how all of the characters will end up by the very end.
Some authors just know how to tell a story, how to develop their characters that readers will enjoy. Each book in this series is just as addictive as the previous book, I can’t get enough of these characters. The stories are never dull, there’s so much love, passion, fun and a book that’s memorable. Highly recommended this series.
Katherine and Cash…the very definition of slow burn!! I so enjoyed the build up to their story in Wild Highway, and I fell completely in love with them here. Once again, Katherine’s horrific upbringing is in complete contradiction to how Cash was raised, but it gives her a deep appreciation of her life now. Their decade long friendship gives way to the most beautiful love story – it had my stomach in knots for most of the book, which is always the sign of a phenomenal story. I can’t wait for Aria’s story!!
Quarter Miles is HERE and YES. I just bounced between dark and light reads and Iw as ready for a lighter read with some emotional baggage and Devney delivered.
Unrequited love isn’t a trope that I often get the chance to read. There is something about it that just draws you and in and has you more invested that a lot of other tropes because you don’t know where it is going to go. You can think that the characters are going to get their HEA, but there is always the chance that the love is not returned and the book will do a 180 on you.
That risk always has me excited and invested with the chance of love. This was one of those novels and it does not disappoint. Tension and angst drive you into a tizzy with this book and you wont be able to put it down.
Wow. Gah, I have no words! Devney Perry once again delivered a unique and beautiful small town, best friends to lovers romance that left me dying to get my hands on more of her words!
Quarter Miles, the third book in the Runaway series, is a dual POV romance about finding love where misconceptions leave one believing it doesn’t exist. Unrequited love leaves Katherine Gates heartbroken and sure that her friendship with Cash Greer is over. Unwilling to ruin her friendship with Cash, sure that if she stays, she’ll lose the only family she’s ever known, Katherine grasps for an escape from the impossible situation she finds herself in. Willing to runaway as desperation sets in amongst the fear of completely losing herself. Regardless of the steadfast love she’s had for more than a decade, Katherine’s no longer able to persever…to keep the status quo unchanged as anguish leads her to undergo drastic measures to insure her heartbreak no longer consumes her. The love she holds for Cash bleeds from the page as Perry writes a story that unwinds showcasing a woman who is inspiring and a love that is electrifying. As Cash finally begins to see Katherine as more than his best friend, as the secrets Katherine’s long held are laid bare before Cash, he can’t help but fall for his best friend.
Quarter Miles will have you falling helplessly into a romance that’s brilliantly written with a flawless storyline, beautiful characters and the perfect balance of sexy and sweet. As instant heartbreak gives way to stolen moments that are nothing short of sizzling, and two best friends discover the beauty of a budding romance, I was reminded just how powerful and heartwarming a story written by Devney Perry could be. Quarter Miles swept me away on a road trip from Montana to the Oregon coast. It’s full of lighthearted, sweet moments shared between two best friends, angst, plenty of steamy interludes and the sheer perfection that only Devney Perry delivers time and again. I was completely consumed and read this book in one sitting and without a doubt can not wait for the next Runaway book.
Quotes:
“Was it love? Could it be love when it was so exceptionally unrequited? I’d never been in love before. Maybe this was infatuation. Or a deep, respectful friendship.
Because true love was shared.
My feelings were most definitely not.”
“I’d been so focused on the tiny sphere of my world that I’d forgotten there was more beyond. And what a beautiful world.”
“Any hot-blooded woman would fall for a sexy cowboy with a strong, stubbled jaw and a sleepy, devilish smile.”
Devney Perry is back with this, the third book from the Runaway series in which we get to learn more about the Junkyard Kids from California as another road trip begins.
This time it’s Katherine who decides to take the Cadillac out, she’s got some serious thinking to be done with regards to her relationship with Cash, the pair have been best friends and roommates for years. She actually fell in love with him a few years back, but she didn’t want to threaten their friendship by letting him know that she was in love with him and now she’s planning to take some time out and prepare herself for the fact Cash is strictly in the friend zone category, and she needs to move on, however Cash throws her plans out the window when he decides to insert himself into her trip, it’s not all bad, with no outside influences, the pair begin to learn a lot more about one another, is there a chance they could have a HEA? Well that could all depend on Cash he’s got a secret which could very well be the end of them.
This was another fantastic addition to the Runaway series, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, with every book Perry writes she just pulls you right in, not only do I read her books, I live them and Quarter Miles was no different, I lived, loved and breathe it, now the wait is on for the next one in the series.
Quarter Miles is the latest book in Devney Perry’s ‘Runaway’ series. This story features best friends Katherine and Cash as they embark on a road trip to continue the Cadillac’s journey back to California.
Kat has made a life for herself as the manager of the idyllic the Greer Ranch and Mountain Resort, she’s living with her best friend who she just happens to be in love with.
Cash is a cowboy who spends his days training new horses, working around the ranch and leading tour groups out in the trails. Ever since he met Katherine he’s been told she one of the family, so he’s always thought of her more like a friend or a sister…at least until they’re cooped up together on a road trip that is!
I love these two so much as a couple! You really get a sense of the strong friendship they have built over the years which lays a beautiful foundation for their relationship to blossom. There were a few times throughout this book where all I wanted to do was to shake Cash and yell at him to just talk to Katherine, but in all honesty it wouldn’t have fit with his character. Another wonderful book by Devney Perry!
I have no words.
My heart.
Oh man.
This was everything!
It’s definitely the most emotional of the series… and I’m here for it!
The back and forth. It had my heart clenching.
I really liked this book ,I just wish he hadn’t of taken so long to go for it.I have to read the rest of the series now because it is very addicting.
An engaging romance with all the feels! Once again Devney demonstrates her incredible ability to create characters that instantly become real people you can’t help but love while you devour their beautiful story.
Katherine’s been in love with Cash forever.
“Yesterday I’d had a home, I’d had a job, I’d had a family. Yesterday I’d been in love. But a lot had changed since yesterday.”
Cash didn’t love her. After so many years of heartache, her last option is to get over Cash or move on. Even if it means leaving the only family she’s ever known.
“My only wish was that tomorrow, some of this crippling heartache might fade. That urge to scream and cry would wane. There was only one way to find out. I jammed the key into the ignition.”
Katherine sets out on a journey. A road trip to clear her head and clear her heart.
“With hopes that there was something good waiting for her at the end of the road.”
It would either be the break she needed to finally get over Cash or it would show her new opportunities.
What she didn’t expect or want was a last minute passenger. Especially the very person she is running from.
What a story!!! My heart hurt for Katherine’s pain! I wish they would have been strong enough to voice their feelings and thoughts. Cowardice, pride, self-preservation? A multitude of reasons kept them from communicating. The journey shows us which and why and it was soooo good!
The chemistry between Katherine and Cash is seriously electrifying!
“The spark wasn’t just a flicker, it was a wildfire that might destroy us both, leaving nothing but ash and destruction in its wake.”
But they’ve been friends for so long crossing the lines comes at a great risk. Especially when each of them has a secret. A secret that could change things forever. OMG! I was absolutely devastated by the secret Cash kept from her. Complete game changer. Are their secrets forgivable? Will they have the strength to forge ahead and make their lives together or apart?
I loved the connection that Katherine has with the Greer’s. They are such an amazing family and cast of characters. It was awesome how they let Katherine know hands-down that they supported her and included her in the family regardless of the outcome. It was very touching! I liked meeting Aria, who seems like another fantastic character. I was totally drooling over Mark Galloway. He needs to be a main character soon!! Each junkyard character we’ve read about has made a good life for themselves, although something that would most likely be rare in reality. I appreciated that this book finally mentioned the truth. The series so far has the characters ruminating about their glory days in the junkyard, but really they were hungry, cold, and terrified. During a heart-wrenching conversation Katherine makes that admission. Regardless of the good and terrifying times, their days in the junkyard bonded them for life. Each character has a history and their background gives them strength and grit to fight for a good life. The kinds of characters we love to champion. I absolutely, thoroughly enjoyed this book!
Oh Devney you have done it again, book 3 in the Runaway series Katherine has found her place her home in Montana, taken in by the Greer family running their resort, but in love with Cash.
Cash is the younger of the Greer brothers, most of his life has been told to him as the second son.
Cash crashes Kat’s roadtrip to Oregon to deliver the Cadillac to Aria but he doesn’t feel the same way about her as she does about him.
Love their banter and the roadtrip! Cannot wait for Aria’s story next. LOVE IT
OMG! I can’t get enough of this series. Completely hooked and in love with all the characters so far. This one is on Katherine and Cash, the eldest of the Greer boys. Katherine has been working for the Greer’s family business for over a decade and she was accepted as one of the owns. Katherine has been secretly in love with Cash since day one, but she did not want to jeopardize the friendship they have she is technically an employee and he is her boss Cash has no shortage of women, but he can’t seem to pull his head out of his ar*se to realize the woman he meant to be with is right in front of him. I adore Katherine – she is loyal, hardworking, beautiful inside and out. There is a reason the whole Greer’s clan adopted her. Poor Cash hiding under the best friend / sister blanket. Deep down he is head over heels. It just takes him a long time to finally give in and make a move. All it took was a road trip and all hell broke loose. The author took us on quite a roller coaster ride of emotions. One minute I was rooting for them, the next I want to give up but for the most part I just want the HEA so bad I almost flip to the last chapter Get ready because … HOLY ANGSTS!!! It’s all worth it though I promise!
Quarter Miles was such a sexy, swoony, and emotional friends-to-lovers romance. This whole series has been FANTASTIC. I love the concept of a group of kids who worked hard and rise above the life they were dealt with. I love how they never forgot each other and where they came from. Incredibly well-written. Highly recommended.
I struggled a bit w/ Cash & Katherine’s relationship, and their reasons for not being together. I felt like this story was a bit more angsty, and even when they were together for most of the story (on the road trip & then when they get where they’re going) I didn’t feel like they were TOGETHER bc they were on the same page but wouldn’t communicate w/ each other.
Even with the struggle, I LOVE both Kat & Cash & enjoyed getting to know more about them. The way they finally get together is beautiful, and their HEA is … MWHA! And I’m – as always happens with the next book & the next book & the next book because I am obsessed w/ this author’s writing – looking forward to Aria’s story!!! : )
I love the theme of this series. The idea that each book connects these 6 people through their shared experience as runaways and the journey to return the Cadillac to Karson in California. In Quarter Miles we travel with Katherine and Cash. Two best friends with feelings for each other that neither has revealed. I loved getting to know more of Katherine’s story and watching Cash figure out that he loves his best friend in a not so friendly way! Devney’s stories are always unique and this story is no different!
Loving this entire series; can’t wait to read the rest the books!
Loved this series. What great things are happening on the road trips!
Wild Highway made me really excited to read Kat and Cash’s story! I love friends to lovers stories and I know I was going to be reading an emotional roller coaster. Devney Perry makes these books so much fun by letting them all connect to the characters’ childhood. This really makes these stories extra special.
After the previous book, I was in love with the Greer family and would’ve went to their resort if I could. Cash is a bit blind (like many book characters are) to his best friend’s emotions, but it comes in loud and clear. He’s a very caring guy and will do anything to protect the people he cares for (which we really find out in Quarter Miles). If it’s up to him everything stays peaceful and he goes with the flow. His story really interested me though. I loved him experiencing feelings he wasn’t aware of and trying to figure these out. His stubbornness was a lot of fun and made me laugh. He doesn’t give up and that really fit this story so well.
Katherine didn’t have an easy past and we learn bits and pieces as the story goes on. I really like Kat. She’s a hard worker and really cares for the Greer’s. She’s insecure though and still doesn’t completely feel like family (even though deep down she knows she is). If I’m honest, Kat really annoyed me during this story. After everything she went through I completely understand her behavior, but more communication would’ve made this story so much easier. I did love seeing her slowly let down her walls to let Cash in slowly.
The romance is so much fun and it’s so interesting seeing them on this trip. Best friends trying to explore the change in relationship was interesting. I also loved seeing them learn new things about each other (even after living together). Even though I was annoyed during this story, it fit the plot. The ending made up for all the irritation and left a huge smile on my face. I’ll be anxiously awaiting the next book in the story. If you’re looking for books that definitely make you feel things, pick up the Runaway series!
Quarter Miles is book three in this stand alone, small town, friends-to-lovers romance. Every book features different couple and this time its the story of the two kids who grew up in that junkyard years ago- Cash and Kat. This was a pretty much quick read for me, with the perfect amount of angst in finally revealing what they felt for each other, sweet and sexy moments, sense of adventure to make this book such a great romance read. I loved it and couldn’t wait for more stories from this world.
