To the unassuming observer, Ben Lockwood is your typical, suburban dad. Aside from the fact that he’s only thirty-six and his daughter is a sophomore in college. He and his wife, Jessica, had their only daughter, Hailey, when they were in high school. So you can imagine the unease Ben is feeling when said daughter brings her new boyfriend home for Thanksgiving… To stay, in their house, for the … whole weekend.
Ryan Harper, otherwise known as The Boyfriend, is every dread Ben’s ever had in his daughter dating come to fruition. There’s nothing wrong with Ryan. He’s polite, smart, and charming… He doesn’t have any neck tattoos or facial piercings, and he drives a BMW. But still, he’s dating Ben’s daughter. That makes him a threat.
It’s in Ben’s best interest to keep an eye on the kid. You know, to make sure there’s no funny business going on under his roof. Unfortunately for him, the tension in the house is less about Ryan being his daughter’s boyfriend, and more about him being a strangely intriguing human.
And soon enough, Ben can’t tell if he’s watching Ryan to protect his daughter’s innocence, or obliterate his own. It seems like the boring married-guy image isn’t going to hold up for long… Not after this bizarre, life-changing weekend.
What are these new, strange feelings and desires? Where did they come from? And why do they have to center around what belongs to his daughter?
Ben and Ryan’s situation couldn’t get much more complicated… Until Jessica steps into the mix.
An unexpected push is all it took for their lives to change forever.
PUSH by Nyla K is a label-free HEA love story. It contains infidelity triggers, which do work themselves out, so I urge you to give it a shot. MMR turns to MMF, in a very steamy, unexpected romance that will make you laugh, maybe cry, and definitely swoon. The theme of love is love is key here, so there aren’t many defining, or coming out moments. That being said, this book does explore male-male bisexuality, pansexuality and polyamory, but in a very casual, unassuming way. If MM and MMF are not your cup of tea, then steer clear. However, if you’re looking for an open-minded tale of taboo and forbidden romance that ultimately works out for its characters, then this book is for you!

Emotional, forbidden, hot as all hell, boundary pushing.
While I didn’t agree with our characters decisions a lot of the time, I really enjoyed their story. It is unlike anything I’ve ever read. I loved the author’s writing and the emotions she was able to pull out of me.
Push was my first book by this author and it wont be my last.
This book does contain cheating
I WILL NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU: One of my FAVORITE romances EVER
*read on KU. No need of sugar daddies called promo teams*
What’s this book about? (I’m trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Ben Lockwood is your typical dad. Only he is very young. And hot. Ryan Harper is his daughter’s boyfriend. And he’s a good one. There’s nothing wrong with him other than the fact that he’s too hot for his own good. Ben watches out for his daughter; but in whose interest? His own or hers? He watches his daughter’s boyfriend a little too closely. Soon, lines are crossed. And then Jessica enters the picture.
This was my first Nyla K. read. I’ve been seeing this cover all around bookstagram, so I had to hop on it real quick. Damn, this was a emotional and very STEAMY, SUPER HOT type of read. I’m so grateful I picked up! I felt everything while reading. The first half or so was very MM and I’m new to that, but I found it very interesting. The chemistry was INTENSE. I had a problem with the women in the first half; they didn’t feel that whole as characters up until later when we saw more of their personalities unfold.
I personally like Ryan more than Ben. I empathized with Ben SO BLOODY MUCH. BEN CAN BE SO MEAN and I CAN’T HAVE THAT! I’m rooting for my boo Ryan. My heart broke for him. He opened up as the book went on and I just couldn’t deal at times. I loved him! Ryan and Ben were cute together although they very also very VERYYYYY ANGSTY. A lil intrigue never hurt anybody!
Jess turned out to be a real one in the end although she seemed like a blank canvas at the start which I didn’t like. I ended up adoring her in the end. There were tons of amusing characters in this book and there were very scandalous, uncomfortable but also hilarious moments in the story!
While the first half was good, the second half just made me go WOW. It truly won me over then. I was lost in this world. This read was fast-paced, full of sex BUT it balanced it so well with emotion and consequences. The author did an incredible job with this book. The intimacy levels in this book are on FLEEK. I screeched at chapter 18 – I felt for Ryan in that chap because we’ve all been there. He was so relatable. I have a thing for hurt characters like him.
I recommend this to everyone who enjoys their romance ‘label-free’ as the author describes this book, INCREDIBLY emotional and SCORCHING HOT.
ORIGINAL COMMENT:
Oh shit this was intense! What an emotional rollercoaster. Perfect balance of erotic and sentimental moments. Ryan my boo!!!!!! Love him. Although Jess seemed like a blank slate for them to project their fantasies upon at first, it turned around real quick in the latter part of the book where her role in the relationship became clearer. DAYUM. Dayum. I CANNOT.
This was a unique love story and I loved it. This book is for fans of MM/MMF. If that’s not your thing, this may not be the story for you. But if it is, welcome to your new favorite book! It’s a forbidden romance that will suck the reader in right away. And this story is full of so many surprises. It’s a romance that explores one’s sexuality and self discovery. It’s also a story about putting society’s standards to the side and choosing what feels right. This story definitely didn’t go where I thought it was. I loved it. It’s so unique and defiantly not like anything I have read before. If you want a gripping unconventional romance with lots of heat then definitely give this one a read. You will be astounded at the writing of Nyla K. She will pull you in and keep you hooked on the story.
Push, is my first book by this author. So of course it took me a couple of chapters to get used to her writing style. As is the norm for me, when reading new to me authors!
I thought the book was well written, maybe a bit repetitive here and there, but nothing too big. (And the author skipped a couple of steps in the backdoor prep, which kinda threw me off..)
“Fate gave us a push, and it made us whole.”
Push, is about the handsome Benjamin Lockwood and his wife, of 19 years, Jessica. And their daughter Hayley, 19, coming home for Thanksgiving with her boyfriend Ryan, 21, for the first time.
“Such was my curse. I was doomed to forever walk the earth dealing with every single problem in my life on my own. No one to share the burden. No one to confide in, or console me with words and actions of comfort.”
If you can’t stomach cheating, this is definitely not the book for you. For me, it depends on the story I think. It didn’t bother me in this book, maybe because of all the love and chemistry in it? And that I was promised MMF?
“I cringed inside at the fact that I was agreeing with my nineteen-year-old daughter about the guy that we both happened to know romantically. God help me…”
It’s a very fast paced story, in a big book! And HOT AF!!! Jeez, talk about sizzling chemistry! And it was beyond hotter because it’s taboo!
Btw, what happened to Tate?
I have been wanting to read this book since it’s release day and finally have a gap in ARC’s to sit down with this, and boy did I sit down, I devoured it! This book won’t be for everyone, there is cheating (that is resolved) and Ryan, one of the main leads is dating the other male lead’s daughter at the time. It’s MM and MMF with polyamory, if none of that scares you, give it a go, you’ll love it.
Ryan and Hailey are visiting her parents for thanksgiving, Ryan’s first meet the parents and he is a little nervous about it. Ben is quite an intimidating dad and warns Ryan off any funny business while he is in his house. Interactions between Ryan and Ben were often forced and awkward, but one night Ryan catches Ben and his wife, Jess, having sex and is immediately drawn to Ben, his body is powerful and he can’t get him out his mind. With this in mind, Ryan does something he would never have dreamed of, and makes a pass at Ben. Ben can’t believe he hasn’t pushed him away and these two get acquainted very quickly with all the passion between them.
Just when the angst levels around the ‘cheating’ begin, in walks Jess, the wife. She loves Ben, but wants to know how he loves someone else. It’s pretty intense but the maturity in which it is handled is flawless. Love is love and the openness between the couple shows this.
I will say, although there is lots of love between the three of them and it’s very real. I did feel there was something more between Ben and Ryan, their pull was magnetic and the steam/heat levels between them were through the roof. You definitely need to change your panties a few times reading this book!
I feel head over heels for Ben and Ryan. Their love for one and other was magic and I felt every emotion between them. When everything started to become real and when the drama hit, I needed to look away a few times. The angst and what Ryan was willing to put himself through tore up my heart.
This story was extraordinary and isn’t a typical MMF novel. It was real, raw, intense, emotional and thought provoking and yet had so much passion and love and will definitely have you pushing your moral compass with what is right and wrong.
All in, this book, without a doubt is one of my top reads of 2019! Where have you been Nyla K?? You have a new fan in me!

A HOT, Taboo & sexy read!
When Ben’s daughter brings home her boyfriend to meet her parents he wasn’t happy about her having a boyfriend at all. As every Dad usually believe, no boy/man was good enough for his daughter. He would have never expected Ryan would turn his life upside down and even more once his wife Jessica becomes a member of their craziness.
In PUSH a taboo M/M affair turns into a trio of true love.
Did anyone else’s kindle burst into flames from how hot this book is?! Push is filled with angst, intensity, emotions running rampant, and hot f@#cking chemistry that was off the charts hot! One hell of a read!
The characters have so much depth, and the writing is so damn good! Is it too soon to read it again, and then again? There are so many intense moments, and I was on the edge of my seat for most of the book. I was extremely invested in the story, and the outcome for Ben, Ryan, and Jessica.
The excellent, steamy writing brought the scenes to life. A sexy must read, that definitely shows love is love!
I hadn’t read anything by this author prior to this book and couldn’t wait to pop my Nyla K cherry! What an amazing introduction to her talent…a very unique, intense and thought provoking read.
Unlike anything else I’ve ever read…forbidden on so many different levels! I have to admit that I was hesitant because I’ve never read an M/M book and truly enjoyed it, and I think that was because I could never connect with the relationship and what the characters were feeling, but Nyla K has changed that. Then, I was scared someone was going to get hurt, dreaded that it was inevitable. The more I got to know the characters, the more trepidation I had, but love is definitely love and I had faith in that. The dynamics in this story are intense…ultimately it’s about self discovery, finding love where you don’t expect it, embracing that love and doing what makes you happy. Well done, Nyla K!
This was such a great book! When we’re first introduced to Ben and Ryan I had no idea how they were going to start getting together because I just couldn’t picture it. But then add in Jessica, Ben’s wife, and they’re all literally a match made in heaven This book had me in my feels big-time and it was so dramatic but I loved it!
I discovered M/M books earlier this year, and since then I have devoured them. Without a doubt, Push is the hottest book I’ve ever read. I was reading with a Co worker and everytime we saw each other all we could say was “oh my God, this book”.
When I started it I though there was no way it could have a HEA. Impossible! But I was constantly surprised. Not only was the sex top notch, but the love was real. I can’t recommend this book enough. I even suggested it to my romance loving mom as an introduction to the genre.
Push is potentially one of the hottest books I’ve read in the last two years like the scenes in this made me blush and I don’t normally blush at anything damn.
Ben and Jessica had a baby when they were still in high school and they’ve been winging it ever since, but they did an amazing job at it! Their little girl is now in college and she’s got a boyfriend, much to Ben’s annoyance. Ben likes to be in control, and he can’t seem to control his feelings around this guy
Ryan is my faaaavourite! He was honestly the highlight of the story for me and I loved how passionately he felt about everything, he was so sweet and amazing that I could just keep reading about him forever.
The ending fell a bit flat for me in all honesty, I still absolutely loved the book but when it’s so full of drama throughout just to have that kind of ending I felt a bit deflated after I finished it.
BUT it’s still a solid 4/5 because Ben and Ryan were EVERYTHING in this book! I loved them so much.
God , I am so addicted to MM now because of this author. The MMF aspect really pulled me in and don’t even ask about the angst. This book had it all and I couldn’t devour it fast enough!
I last read TO BURN IN BRUTAL RAPTURE by this author and knew that I had go read everything by her. So I picked this one. And it was so amazing!
The ending was shocker and I went blind into this one so all the emotions hit me at once and that was the best feeling. i suggest you do the same !! These characters are amazing and I so want to read more like this author. Her books have this amazing level of angst that I can’t enough of. Its simply addictive.
I would highly recommend this one to all the MMF loving people. This book was mot dark but more like a very angsty contemporary romance. Loved it sooo much!!
Push is only the third book that I’ve read by Nyla K., and I’m not getting over any of them any time soon. Talk about a book hangover! As it appears to be with all of these Author’s books (so far), you have to go into this book with a VERY open mind. This is NOT your typical MMF romance.
Ben Lockwood is happily married to his wife of 19 years, Jessica, so he can’t understand the feelings that he’s having toward his daughter’s new boyfriend. Ryan Harper is happy in his relationship with his college girlfriend until he meets her dad. Neither Ben nor Ryan understand what’s happening between them, but neither can seem to stop it. Can they allow one night to change all of their lives forever?
This is a very complicated story. VERY complicated, and again, you have to go into with an open mind. I had read a couple of excerpts from this book, so I was prepared to fan myself from the heat. I wasn’t prepared to have a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes throughout many parts of this story. My heart hurt for everyone involved in this relationship, especially Ryan. As a woman, I can’t even imagine being in Jessica’s shoes, and I don’t now how I would ever handle the situation that she finds herself in, but Ryan’s part in this story is the one that really broke my heart. He is so vulnerable and he’s the outsider here. For much of this story, I was so anxious and heartbroken. I just didn’t see how this story could ever have a HEA.
Now, don’t get me wrong…this book isn’t all emotional angst. This one definitely turns up the heat! Although it’s a MMF story, there is A LOT of MM only action, so be aware. It’s so much more than that though, so maybe just give it a chance even if that’s not your thing. The bottom line here is that love is love. You can’t help who your heart wants, and sometimes even though we have everything that we could ever want, we find something else (or someone else) that we truly NEED. And sometimes, that makes life messy and complicated and unconventional, but it doesn’t make it any less beautiful.
A MMF story that will either make you cringe or swoon!!
I totally swooned for Ben, Ryan & Jessica!!
I’ve been trying to write a review for Push for two days and I just can’t get the words to come out right. Every time I think I have the right words to describe my feelings for this book I hit the delete button repeatedly.
This was my first Nyla K. book, so I had no idea what I was getting into especially when it is right over 500 pages. Ryan and Ben stole my heart from their first encounter in the basement and the further I got into the story the better it got. Ben loved Ryan so much even though his love for Jessica was still very present. The anxiety I had reading this book was INTENSE!! Too many times I started freaking out that the ending wasn’t going to go the way I wanted it to go. Even right up until the end my heart was breaking for the loss that everyone was feeling.
Honestly, I don’t have any complaints for this story, but I will say that Ryan and Bens love felt so much MORE than the love Jess shared with them. Not that I didn’t like her because I did but it felt sort of out of place at moments like she was more tossed in at the last minute. Not sure if that makes sense.
This book seriously took a piece out of me and I was not expecting that at all, I think it was the angst leading up to the ending where my heart was in my stomach. I really did like this story though, a beautiful and untraditional love story for the ages. If taboo stories don’t bother you and you can get behind a MMF story, then you should read this one.
This book.. I’ve heard so much about it and how it wrecks you after your finished with it.. It’s all true! I finished and couldn’t/didn’t want to read anything else. This book is HOT, HOT, HOT!!! I’m talking melting your kindle HOT!!!! There was a few times that I had to stop and fan myself just to try to calm myself down.. The sex scenes in this are so steamy and it wasn’t just one, it was ALL OF THEM!! Any time there was a sex involved or just a moment, it made you all warm and fuzzy!!! You have to read this book!! I swear Ben, Jess and Ryan will melt panties and kindles with the strong connection they have in and out of the bedroom!!! I would tell you all about this book and how it all played out but I feel like this is a book that you need to experience without knowing much about it beforehand..I wish I could give this book more then just 5 stars because the steam meter alone should be a 1,000,000/5 and the connection is just as hot!! I also wish I could read this book for the first time again but I will be reading this book again and again especially if I need a book to get me all worked up and in the mood!!
This is one of the best MMF stories I have ever read! At first I was worried that the relationship between the Jess and her men would be underdeveloped because the story was told through Ben and Ryan’s point of views, but I was wrong! The book is written so well and the love between all three characters is so intense and beautiful, it made the story real and powerful. I especially commend the author for her development of the relationship between the two men, as many MMF books tend to revolve around the female. Unlike those, this book felt feel like a truly equivalent triad and I loved it!
When reading Push, go in with an open mind. There are things in the book that I normally wouldn’t read, but I took the leap and was not disappointed in any way!
The love Ben and Jess share, is something that started at the age of 17 and just kept growing. They are each other’s rocks and are what keeps each other grounded.
The chemistry between Ryan and Ben was blistering hot, it was so good I felt it all. The feelings that they have for each other can’t just be put to the side and ignored! They are so strong, there is no way they could keep it inside! I enjoyed the book, but I would have been okay with this book being just m/m. This book was still a 5 star read for me .
A story about love in all it’s from. A story about how love is love and doesn’t need to be labeled. There are love triangles and heart break and mistakes and worries all beautifully expressed in this book. You’re emotions will run the gambit as one triangle forms and another dissolves. As relationships are formed and hearts are broken. It has so much angst and so much happy it’s crazy. The sexy scenes are aplenty and slightly cheesy but sometimes that’s real life lol. Really just the talk about the d was the only part that I would snicker at but the scenes were hot. There is infidelity just a heads up but if you don’t fall in love with Ben, Ryan, Hailey and Jennifer you may be missing a vital organ. Honestly I don’t know if I have ever cheerleader more for a relationship to work! I do just love the over all message that love is love is love and it doesn’t need labels or negativity.
Who would have thought
Nyla’s writing style is so unique. I read her stories and I’m like this is different. It’s not something I’ve read before. She puts everything into these characters and stories.
Who would have thought that a poly relationship like this could actually work. Two males and a female, sure, that works. But dude was their daughter’s man. So yea different take on it all.
Emotions, conflict, yep there’s cheating but it’s resolved and at the end of it all there is discovery. People learning about themselves and the ones they love.
If you’ve ever loved before then you know this story is at it’s core about the love a person can feel for more than one person.
And holy cannoli let’s not forget those epic discovery scenes. Smoking hot!!!
One of my favourite authors had posted about this book and since I had read two M/M/F Romances before (and I liked them) I decided to read it. I am so happy that I read it because it is so good!! I highly recommend it if you like MMF romances. It starts off with a married couple, then two men with a crush, which develops into a forbidden relationship. There’s steam, cuteness, suspense, romance and a bit of an emotional rollercoaster — but who doesn’t love a good, emotional rollercoaster, am I right ?! Anyway, I highly highly recommend Push, especially if you love MMF or even if you’re thinking about reading MMF books.
