“I fell in love with a brown-eyed angel in the middle of a football field, and I hadn’t even talked to her yet. All it took was her laugh.” – Mason Connor
Professional football player, Mason Connor, had the perfect life. Blessed with good looks, crazy skills on the field, and more money than he knew what to do with, it never occurred to him something was missing. Not until he saw her.
Looking … her.
Looking out over a field of green, he saw his future and knew his world was about to change. He just had no idea his Angel would put up such a fight.
A fight he planned on winning.
“I don’t want to like you, Mase, but I’m afraid I already do and that scares me.” – Joanna Welch
Joanna Welch had two relationships in her life, both with the popular-sexy-jock type.
Neither ended well.
So when the attractive and cocky Pursuers quarterback began pursuing her, she wasn’t interested in experiencing a three-peat.
However, the more time she spent with Mase, the harder it was to pretend he was only a sexy smile and hot body. He was funny, charming, and smart, too.
Fumbling her stay-away plan, her heart’s in danger of being intercepted, and Jo’s worried she’s about to get sacked. Only Mase wasn’t just looking to score…
He had another kind of championship ring in mind.
This is a full-length, steamy, contemporary romance. While Pursuing can be enjoyed as a stand-alone, it is part of a series started with Alluring and contains some spoilers.
Due to sex and language, it is recommended for persons over 18. HEA

I love all the heroes in Sarah Curtis’ books and Mase is another to add to the list! Mason Connors is professional football player, actually the quarterback for the Nevada Pursuers, and he is also one of the coaches for a football camp for kids. Jo Welch is the social worker who was assigned to gather up a group of underprivileged kids to participate in the program. One look across the football field and Mase was a goner. He knew instantly that Jo was the one for him. Unfortunately, Jo has not had the greatest luck with men like Mase; sexy and hot and cocky and worst of all, a jock. She had made a promise to herself, never again would she entangle herself with one of those. But she was not prepared for Mase’s determination. He hatched up a plan, a proposition, that Jo just could not refuse. This allowed Mase time to show Jo how good they can be together and that she can trust him with her heart. Jo’s insecurities and fear is huge and I can see it could make one gun-shy but seeing Mace’s side and how committed he was was a bit frustrating. But as they get to know each other, Mace’s campaign to win her is working, not only is he hot and their chemistry scorching, she starts to realize how sweet and caring he can also be.
Pursuing was a sweet but sexy read with little angst. There was a little bit of action at the end where Jo’s job caused my heart to pound a bit, but this solidified Jo’s true feelings for Mace. I loved their story so much! And that epilogue was awesome!!
This is a reread of Pursuing and I have to say that I love Mason Connor now more than ever!
Jo’s past relationships have left her unable to trust a certain type of man. She’s determined to not make the same mistakes again. So when Mason walks onto the football field with his dazzling smile and sexy presence, she instantly puts up her guards. However, before she knows it, Mase has finagled his way into a dinner date and then he’s brokered a deal with her that she finds impossible to say no to.
As soon as Mase laid eyes on her he knew that she was his. Unfortunately, when he attempts to get to know her she shuts him down pretty quickly. With his easy charm and quick wit he doesn’t have to work at gaining a woman’s attention but with Jo he’s willing to put in the hard work to win her over. Soon, he wants it all, but in order to have it he’s got to prove to her that she can trust him.
I absolutely loved this couple together. Mase was so totally dedicated to Jo and intent on winning her over, not just for a night but forever. He’s the true definition of an alpha hero and each time that part of him reared itself I found myself grinning from ear to ear. Jo was a strong independent heroine, a social worker for child protective services, and had a heart that needed to give and receive love. Her past mistakes made it hard for her to allow it free reign and she struggled to learn to accept what Mase was not only telling her, but showing her as well.
This is such a perfect book to curl up with and just simply enjoy. The angst is relatively low, the steam is off the charts sizzling, and the characters are so real you’ll wish they were your friends. I loved absolutely everything about this book but add on an epilogue that was perfection as it gave us a look at characters from previous books as well, and I was in book heaven.
Oh boy, did I love this book!!! Let it be known, I will fight for Mase. I will take anyone on who will challenge me. That is how AMAZING and WONDERFUL this man is.
Sarah Curtis, I can’t even put into words how much I love this book. Thank you for writing such a loving and sexy story that kept me turning the pages and wanting to go into hiding because my kiddos and hubby kept calling my name.
