Hazel Hart is having a horrible holiday. Not only does she have to contend with meeting her boyfriend’s parents for the first time, but she’s also hired as the photographer of the Christmas Fair and the local production of A Christmas Carol. Besides being stuck in the cold all day, she’s trapped between the men playing Santa and Scrooge and their petty rivalry. When the rivalry turns deadly, … turns deadly, Hazel and her feline sidekick are there to solve the case. But the deeper Hazel digs, the larger the list of suspects grows, including some of the most prominent and powerful people in Cedar Valley.
Can Hazel finish her Christmas shopping and stop a killer before time runs out?
A feel-good, cozy mystery series about a quirky photographer and her black cat solving mysteries in Cedar Valley, a small town in the Sierra Nevada mountains. These books do not contain any cliffhangers, gore, graphic scenes, or foul language. They can be read as standalones or as part of a series.

Hazel Hart’s holiday just got a bit more hectic. Not only is she the photographer of the Christmas fair and local production of A Christmas Carol, but she will be meeting her boyfriend’s parents for the very first time. She couldn’t handle more on her plate, but soon discovers the local wealthy hermit dead in his home and then the man playing Santa also dead. Is there a murderer on the loose?
As Hazel and her feline sidekick (Anthony Ray) dig deeper into the mystery, they soon uncover a few secrets from the past that might be the answer to who is behind the current murders. Can she stop the killer before he claims the next victim?
Who wouldn’t laugh about the lethal fruitcake (yes even a fruitcake can be deadly), the madcap adventures, and the unlikely and unlucky situations that Hazel seems to find herself in? This is a delightful and charming cozy mystery in a most enjoyable series.
I love the Hazel Hart Cozy Mystery series! The characters are introduced easily and interactions between them are interesting and entertaining to keep the reader turning pages to the end. There are murder, mystery, and mayhem throughout book which delights any amateur sleuth! I can hardly wait for the next book in this series!
Great addition to the series. Loving Anthony Ray. He has great instincts. I also love the kitty images at the beginning of the chapters and the change during the chapter. They are so cute. By the way you can read this without having read the others in the series.
So Marley dies. Is it natural causes or not. Then there are other deaths occurring , do they relate to Marley’s death. What is going on? There are all these twist and turns. Can you keep up? While all this is happening Colton’s parents are coming: Just for their granddaughter, to meet Hazel, or other things.
There is so much going on that at on point I thought I might need a score card to keep it all straight.
Although writing this review , I realize that I personally would have like more of the meeting of the Colton’s parents.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
Even at Christmas Hazel, her cat (Anthony Ray), and boyfriend Sherrif Colton cannot get away from murder investigations. Between her photography job at the Christmas festival, shooting crime scene photos, investigating murders, and trying to finish her Christmas shopping Hazel has a lot on her plate. This hectic schedule is not what has Hazel worried. She is worried about meeting Colton’s parents for the first time. The meeting is probably how you would imagine meet the parents to happen with Hazel involved. While the mystery has its twists and turns to keep you guessing whodunit, the secondary story of Hazel meeting Colton’s parents is entertaining. Great characters, entertaining storyline, suspenseful plot, and an adorable kitty what else can you ask for a wonderful Christmas read. This book can be read as a stand-alone mystery or enjoyed as part of the series.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.
Hazel is very busy this Christmas season. She is hired as the photographer of the Christmas Fair and the local production of A Christmas Carol. Plus she is meeting her boyfriend’s parents! She is also being stuck in the cold all day, she’s trapped between the men playing Santa and Scrooge and their petty rivalry. Then the rivalry turns deadly and now she and her feline helper is there to sort out the clues. Seems like the more Hazel digs the larger the suspect list grows and some of them on the list is of the most prominent and powerful people in Cedar Valley. Can Hazel sort it all out? You will need to read the book to find out. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
