Pure Abandon is a romance, but it is so much more than your typical plot lines and characters. This novel has a depth to it that has a way of sneaking up on you. –Lindsay Detwiler, Author Voice of Innocence
I can’t begin to explain how great this book was!! I felt so overwhelmed with emotions. This was off the charts in the feels department for me. – BeautyandtheBooks83
This story at first had me with confused feelings about something I thought I felt strongly about. I was surprised with the direction I was wanting the story to go, but in the end I am really happy with the way the story ended. BookObsessedGirl
Wow! Such a thought provoker! All I can say is afterward I hugged my husband and kids really hard and spent the rest of the day just enjoying them. –Lauren Runow, Author Unwritten

Tastefully written story about cheating without being too dirty.
I didn’t want to like this book. I really didn’t but I love it and am torn apart by this. This is my first book that’s dealing with the cheating topic and I think it will be my last because I am all the way a HEA person and I don’t do any kind of cheating but I still couldn’t put this book down. It kept me up all night. The writing was excellent and the story compelling.
The story is told from the first-person view of Kathryn Grayson. She made me follow her gut-feelings and I jumped on her train of conclusions. I felt horrible in the end when everything was revealed.
The Story:
Kathryn spent the last year at home managing the household and tending her baby but this isn’t what she always wanted and that’s why she decides to start working again. Her husband Gabe is working hard as a lawyer to provide everything for his family though Kathryn always loved working and is really excited when she starts her new job. Though already on her first day, she meets Alexander Asher and is thrown by this man. Alex always gets what he wants especially since some misconceptions on Kathryn’s part play into his hands because when Kathryn runs into Becca, the blond good-looking woman which seems to know Jackson and Gabe very well, Kat can’t shake this feeling in her gut about what Gabe might be doing behind her back.
Thoughts:
I loved all of the characters because they felt all so real and believable. Besides Gabe and Alex, I loved Kathryn’s mum Gwen. She was there when Kat needed her and she was really supportive and didn’t choose sides.
I understand Kathryn’s actions and reactions but I sometimes wanted to scream at her.
Closer to the end, I have to say that the author had me scared there for a second and I was put through a lot of emotions that are still overwhelming me. The ending itself would have killed me if it weren’t for the epilogue. Oh thank you heavens for the kindness of the author =)
Who Kathryn chose and what happened at the end is somewhat a Band-Aid for my beat-up heart because finally she made the right choice (at least in my opinion because I wished for this all along even though I liked the other guy too). As I mentioned before I am not happy about the cheating and some tiny parts in this book but I think overall it wasn’t too bad for my romantic heart for the damage to be irreparable. =P
Even though I have no comparisons because this was the first book of this kind for me, it was really tastefully written and I loved that about it. I worried at first that it would be a really dirty affair though Kathryn didn’t just jump on any man she could find. It was a lot of circumstances that played into each other and it wasn’t like she planned all along to cheat on her husband. I personally hate lying and cheating because I am all the way for an HEA.
I am intrigued to read the next book Reckless Abandon.
I loved it! Everyone needs to read all of the Abandoned books, they are available as a box set (5 unique and fabulous love stories)!
Where to begin? The character detail was very good. At times you didn’t know who to root for. Almost everyone had redeeming qualities. There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I wasn’t sure how the book was going to end until I got there. And a story with beautiful clothes and shoes is always enjoyable and well as seeing how “the other half” lives. At least this particular man. In between in was interesting to learn a little about what it takes to produce a gala event for charity. Some of the ideas were excellent and could be used in the “real world”. This book was somewhat different that my normal read, but I’m hooked and now have the next book in line to read.
Wow! This is an amazing author! She can make the characters so real. Loved the story! Loved the book!
No one else but Jeannine Colette can make you root for the bad guy to win in her books!
How wrong is that? Anyway, not only do you want the wrong guy to win but when the right guy does, you are completely happy with the outcome!
This is why this was a perfect start to this Awesome series! It gives you all the best of both guys and makes you love them both!
Love this Talented Author and Loved this series!
PURE ABANDON has been sitting on my bookshelf AND on my Kindle since March of 2018. I chose it as “A book published in the month of your birthday” for the Popsugar 2020 reading challenge.
This was an enjoyable read that I felt conflicted about several times. I went from disliking characters to feeling compassion for and others I went from liking to being angry at.
This book was a solid 4 star read for me and I look forward to reading more in this series.

Pure Abandon deals with a trope of mine I can’t get enough of. Marriage in trouble. Kathryn is married to Gabriel and they have a son. Their marriage is suffering because of work and lack of communication. Kathryn starts a new job and meets Asher. Her boss. She’s intrigued by him and also attracted to him and vice versa. Feeling the struggles of her marriage she slowly grows closer to Asher. I could definitely understand why. Her first meeting with Asher and immediately there was a connection.
Pure Abandon was a fabulous love triangle. I wish it’s wasn’t just Kathryn’s POV cause I would’ve love to have been inside those two men’s head. I had my choice for Kathryn even though it was difficult to choose I wasn’t disappointed. Terrific debut from this author and I can’t wait to read her other books.
Oh what a tangled web we weave! Kathryn has it all, a very handsome & loving husband, an adorable baby boy, a beautiful home, but seems to want more. Woman are told they can have it all, so when her best friend Malory tells her about a job at Asher Industries, that sounds like her dream job. She decides to leave her stay at home mother job, go against her husbands wishes, and takes a full time position. Right from the start she has an attraction to her good looking, charismatic boss Alexander Asher.
The first part of the book is a slow paced character development, but is well written and well done to make the characters very real including flaws. At about 75% into the book becomes a angst-full mess. What choices we make, what other people in our lives suffer, and no amount of saying we are “So Sorry!” will ever undo the damage we have done. Nor ever be forgotten or forgiven. This was a good first book & I look forward to reading Jeannine Colette’s next book.
