“A riveting romance that will pull at your heartstrings and not let go.” —Patrice Wilton, New York Times bestselling authorAfter a passionless marriage under the scrutiny of high society, Avery Stowe is taking back her life. All she wants is a little privacy and a quiet place to raise her autistic daughter, Hailey. Redwood Ridge, Oregon, seems to offer all the right ingredients. Except for the … Except for the problem of the local sexy veterinarian. The last thing she needs in her life is to fall for his irresistible allure, even if he is a nice guy who keeps doing her favors. But the well-meaning patrons of her new hometown have other ideas, and it appears playing Cupid is one of them.
Cade O’Grady has never met a woman he couldn’t handle, but when Avery Stowe walks into his office late one night cradling an injured puppy, he’s struck stupid. Which might explain her total lack of interest in him. But now that she’s working for his family’s clinic, he doesn’t have to lust from a distance. He might just have a chance at convincing Avery—and her too-guarded heart—that falling for the right man isn’t a mistake . . .

The writer Kelly Moran is a totally new writer to me but after seeing an advertisement for the first three books in the ‘Redwood Ridge’ series I became curious about those stories. And I was especially intrigued about the second story in the series, that is about the second oldest brother who is deaf. But since I’m a reader that likes to start a series from the beginning, I started with the first book in the series ‘Puppy love’ and I’m very glad that I did because this story was just what I was looking for. A sweet, light, feel good story but also a story filled with a lot of emotions and steamy sex. And I must admit that I was a bit surprise with the last two things but I was very glad with it. Because they gave this story that little more.
The writer created a lovely and interesting story here. The small town residents may be a bit nosy and like to gossip through social media but in the end, they help each other and most of their intentions are good. And then you have the three O’Grady brothers, three handsome and friendly men, who love animals and children very much. I really like the three brothers and it was interesting to discover their personalities and their connection with each other.
In this story you get both POV’s of the main characters, I loved that very much. Avery and Cade were both wonderful characters, I liked their honesty to each other and their care for each other and of Hailey (Avery’s autistic daughter). Avery was a strong character with a gentle, motherly care. A lonely woman who first priority was her daughter. Avery was just to take care of Hailey alone so she had to learn how to depend on other people and let them in her and her daughter’s life. Cade’s character had the perfect mix for me, I liked his confident in his profession, with women but also his insecurity with his growing feelings for Avery, I loved his sensitivity to Avery’s feelings and wishes and his bond with Hailey. How he accepted Hailey just the way that she was, his patience with her. It was great to see how the three brothers were there for each other. The same went for Avery and Cade’s friends. They brought humour in the story but also friendship and support.
I’m so happy that I discovered this writer and this series, because I have a feeling that I will enjoy many hours reading her stories.
Good read!
I know I can always rely on Kelly Moran for a good story. Puppy Love is not different. It’s the story of Avery Stowe, who has finally reconnected with her mother after ten years. She has finally finalized her divorce after almost two years of separation from a man who simply wanted a trophy wife. When they have an autistic daughter, he virtually isolates them both. She’s devastated, but not in the way you may think. Cade O’Grady is the youngest of the O’Grady boys. They are Redwood Ridge’s golden boys and Cade is the most eligible of them all. He’s the youngest, the fun one, the one every woman in a 50 miles radius wants to catch. He’s the one that women make up ailments for their pets just so they can come to see him. I did mention that Cade and his brothers are the local veterinarians, right?
Puppy Love is the story of how Cade and Avery meet. You get to follow their rocky beginning, the twists and turns they take, and how they eventually figure it all out. Each of them grows along the way, gain some insight, and one gains confidence as the other one loses a little. Puppy Love is an entertaining, sweet story.
Favorite Quotes:
‘The Battleaxes are here… All three of them at once. This can’t be good.’ She’d only met them a handful of times since moving, but they were intimidating as individuals. Together they could take down the Taliban.
It had been years since someone had looked at her instead of through her.
Popcorn, chocolate, coffee, ice cream, and pizza. The five food groups. Health nuts are going to feel stupid one day, dying of nothing.
I’m so nervous. The only man I’ve ever slept with was my ex, and that was so long ago I’m not sure my parts still work.
It’s just like riding a bicycle. A vibrating, naked, muscled bicycle.
Since Mom had been married four times before, Avery figured her mother was an expert in all things romance. Or was really bad at it.
My Review:
Puppy Love was my second Kelly Moran read and I enjoyed it beginning to end. Ms. Moran is a gifted scribe and provided ample servings of humor, steam, and quirky characters to kick off a new series. The storyline was relevant, relatable, and realistic, as were the endearing and lovable characters who were each valiantly struggling with real life issues. I adored the setting of a small town vet clinic that hosted a menagerie of abandoned pets. The story was active, eventful, and full of entertaining threads with my favorite being the ironic humor of the parrot that spoke in well-framed song lyrics which always seemed to add a flavorful commentary to the human interactions. The writing was often cleverly amusing, thoughtfully observant, occasionally angsty, yet always emotionally engaging. I want to spend more time with this interesting and diverse group of characters.
Avery was in a loveless marriage. All she wants is to get her life back on track so, she moves with her autistic daughter Hailey to Redwood Ridge, Oregon where her mother also lives. All she just wants is privacy but, then she meets Cade O’Grady when she takes an injured puppy to the local vet. She ends up working for the vet. Cade has never met a woman like Avery and that intrigues him. Cade trys everything to get Avery to date him but, she wants nothing to do with him except work. Then she sees him with Hailey and they start going places together. Cade and Avery do end up having some good sex scenes together. If you want to know more about this beautiful love story, you will need to get this book and read it. I truly loved this book!!
Puppy Love was such a delightful story!
I am so glad I saw it on the NetGalley because I loved the author’s voice, the emotions she brought out via the characters, the pure joy, devotion, dedication, caring, love, angst, fear, passion – it was all there and in such an attractive package, I loved it!
The beginning of the story was filled with delightful humor, light banter, and high spirits of starting new, the fresh launch of life in a new place, with new people, new job bringing out the adventures side of life and living.
Cade O’Grady is gorgeous, smart, great with animals and children and can even cook a bit. His player ways have given him a reputation, he is the catch of the small town, even with two as gorgeous brothers, and the town folks with their twitter feeds and Pinterest boards make sure everyone knows his conquests, even those that are made up or exaggerated. Cade is kind, caring, sweet, considerate, and generous. The only thing against him is, he can’t think straight when Avery is around, so the opportunities to miscommunication are abundant.
Avery Stowe decided after the painful, two-year-long divorce process that she will never marry again, not to mention date again. Her autistic little girl needs all her attention, time, and energy, and that’s the way she likes it. Avery is determined, organized, methodical person. She has always been the caretaker, standing on her own. Asking or accepting help and support is not easy for her, the small town gossip and rumors a bit much to her at times.
I loved how the story was built, the time it took for Avery and Cade to get to know each other, get comfortable with each other, and accept their feelings for each other. The joy and cheer of life at the beginning pulled me right in and I didn’t want to put the book down. I just wanted to keep smiling and laughing at the antics of the characters as they were fumbling with life and fiddled about falling in love. The connection Cade had with Hailey, Avery’s daughter, was precious and so sweet it took my breath away.
The angst and fear that came to both Cade and Avery as their feelings got deeper were overwhelming. There were times I wasn’t sure what the problem was exactly, being as confused as the characters themselves seemed to be. But the author knew exactly what she was doing, and took the reader’s mind and heart from the bottom of despair to the top of jubilation and elation.
I’m not sure if I have ever read a book before where I was swooning through it, not just having a moment here and there, but in a constant state of being enamored and thrilled over the tale and the characters in it. The emotions, the feels, the affection, the passion, the devotion, the family bonding – just wow! I think I am still in the state of wonder over the sweet, tender, adorable tale. This series will be on my watchlist, that’s for sure!
~ Five Spoo
Welcome to Redwood Ridge where everyone knows everyone and everything about you. Fresh from a divorce, Avery Stowe decided to move her daughter, Hailey, to Oregon to be closer to her mom. She never thought she would meet someone like Dr. Cade O’Grady, one of the local veterinarians who own his practice with his two brothers, Flynn and Drake. They get off to a rocky start due to a misunderstanding, but eventually, they warm to each other. Avery starts to work for the clinic, and she gets a job at the clinic. She’s not accustomed to people being so helpful, especially when it comes to Hailey, who is autistic. Throughout this story, she truly learns the meaning of community.
What I loved most was this wasn’t really an instant love story. It’s funny and charming. You quickly fall in love with all the characters, especially Hailey and the three brothers. The dialogue is great, and quite honestly anyone who can quote “Clue” is my absolute favorite character. This is the first story in the series. It leaves me wanting more, and I have so much to look forward to!
Very good from beginning to the end….great job!!!!
Love stories with animals, especially dogs and children that have challenges. This was a good one.
This was a great book to read, the humor was great. It was also an emotional read as it brought home to me the realization of how families experience and manage an autistic family member with love and support. This book also introduced a deaf character and, as a hearing impaired person, I could relate and empathize. I enjoyed the book so much for the humor and realistic medical issues, that I purchased the other two books in the series. That is something I NEVER do. I look forward to reading more from the author.
Being the mother of a adult autistic child I really enjoyed how the author was very educated about what a parent goes through with raising a autistic child. I also love how the characters learned to over come, and how autism doesn’t define the child. Beautiful book that made me smile. Great love story, and with great characters
I wanted more of the puppy and the autistic child
