Pulse. It’s how we know we’re alive. But are we living? I grew up in Chicago. I hated the illegal side of the city. I was raised in it though. When my parents moved out of the country, I started my own life. One I was in charge of. Until I wasn’t. Two brothers. Two different sides of the law. One wants to give me the world. One wants me to help him take down his brother. The pulse, the beat of my … beat of my life is rapidly increasing. When the Chicago Underground threatens to crumble around me, I’m forced to choose which side I’m on.

Tala is the woman they both want, Cole to work for him and Jamie to to spy on him, but it turns to something more for Cole and now Jamie wants her too. There is also someone who is playing them both against each other.
Loved this action packed story of deceit, and family
I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion
To brothers…one women. Cole Frost is the hot alpha crime boss and Jamie Frost is the hot FBI agent trying to take down his brothers empire. Tala Gregoria is the daughter of a former business associate to Cole Frost. Loved how the story unfolds and that Cole never backs away from his feelings for Tala. This book grips you for the first chapter and takes you for one sexy ride! Erin Trejo knows how to write mob stories!
Two brothers on different sides of the law with a woman in between. What can go wrong? A lot!! This book is full of action. I couldn’t out it down. Cole is one sexy alpha. His and Tala’s chemistry was intense from the start.
AMAZING!! This was really unexpected from what I expected from Erin, but what a wonderful ride! I love Cole and Tala, and hope we get more on them. It gets your pulse racing and all the twists and turns kept me totally entranced! Definitely recommend!!
WOW that was twisted and I LOVED every single moment of it!!
Hands down, this is one of the BEST books by Erin Trejo that I have read yet!! It definitely deserves more than 5 ’s!!
Tala had a fairly easy life growing up even with her father being apart of Chicago’s Underground but when her parents tell her they are moving to the Philippines because her aunt is very sick she doesn’t think much of it until years later when a man knocks on her door and turns her world upside down.
Cole rules Chicago’s Underground. It’s his world, his empire but when it’s threatened to be taken by his own brother he starts to do things he never expected he would do. When he goes to Tala with a job offer she can’t refuse he realizes he may not be able to refuse her.
Lines are crossed, trust is broken and when you don’t know where to turn or who to trust, do you go with your gut and heart or do you believe the lies??
Rivoting intriguing twisted amazing addicting love story of Tala and Cole.heartstopping.need more
I have to admit I love most of what this author writes. This is different from her normal reads not as dark or steamy but it is most definitely passionate. One girl two brothers and no it isn’t a menage but there is something between them. One is a friend but how true is that friendship. One a lover but can he be trusted. One on the right side of the law and one clearly on the wrong side. Nothing is what it seems and there is betrayal and greed and so much more in the midst. This author once again does a great twisted tale that right and wrong no longer have a part to play. Survival. Family. Love.
This was another great read by this author. This was different from her other books but I enjoyed it.
Tala grew up dealing with the underground thanks to her father. Now older and wiser she doesn’t want anything to do with it.
Cole is in charge of the underground. There isn’t anything that happens that he doesn’t know about. He needs Tala’s help with the books and doesn’t give her a reason to say no.
Jamie is FBI and wants to take down his brother. If he can get Tala’s help even better.
Can Tala choose which brother to help? Will it all be for nothing in the end?
There were so many twist and turns with this book! I loved not knowing who did what.
Tala broke away from the shady past her father led .Vowing to never look back and start a fresh new life .
Until she meets two brothers and she’s thrust back into the dangers of the Chicago underground.
Will she make it out alive only to have her heart shattered ??
Pulse was intense, full of betrayal. I enjoyed Cole and Tala together they had some serious chemistry even through the angst and emotion of everything going down . The storyline was suspenseful with many twists of deceit to keep me guessing which gave the characters the dark edge I love .
Title: Pulse
Author: Erin Trejo
Publication Date: June 5, 2018
**RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW**
Erin Trejo is an author who likes to push boundaries with her writing. She paints characters in more than shades of black and white. No matter how dark the story her characters are colorful and multifaceted.
Pulse is a criminal underground novel and I had to actually read it twice. I read it twice because the first time I really couldn’t get into the story. The second read was so I could figure out why I reacted so poorly to this book. Conclusion: I felt it was cookie cutter and the writing felt off.
I know! Saying the actual writing feels off doesn’t explain anything. But, it is difficult to explain. The closest I can come up with is the writing didn’t feel polished. This goes with the cookie cutter comment. It felt like any other underworld crime romance where the reader isn’t sucked in. the reader doesn’t “care” about the characters. It’s a fluff book. Not saying all of Trejo’s books have to be spectacular, poignant. or the best book I have ever read…she is still a great author.
If you love a twisty plot, with so many secrets, even the secrets have secrets, then you will love this book. I sure did!!
The characters are strong, and the storyline is well written and thought out, with plenty of twists and ‘Say what now’ and ‘oh no he didn’t’ oh and my favourite ‘But what about?’
This book ticked all the boxes for me.
