The body of a young man is found in a graveyard the night after a wild, drug-fuelled party. At first glance, there doesn’t appear to be anything sinister about his death, despite the shock of Detective Inspector Mark Olbeck realising that he once knew him. Detective Sergeant Kate Redman has other things to worry about, not least her ongoing affair with her superior officer Chief Inspector … Inspector Anderton. But when a second body is found in suspiciously similar circumstances, Kate, Olbeck and the rest of the Abbeyford police team realise they are up against a devious killer who will stop at nothing to indulge a literal thirst for blood…
Pulse is the tenth in the best selling Kate Redman Mysteries series, from crime writer Celina Grace.

Excellent book. Just like all the others in this series. Hope there’ll be many more!
I really enjoy the Kate Redman series. I like the character development, the twisting storylines, and the outcomes that are not always what you might think!
Love this character
I love all the books by Celina Grace
Kate Redman is a believable, increasingly 3-dimensional character. I’m always a bit cautious about putting out the price of a mystery set in the UK, because so many are formulaic and a bit precious. Grace manages to incorporate yet transcend both setting and culture to deliver gritty, intriguing police procedurals coupled with a light seasoning of star–crossed romance.
Good character development and depiction of their emotional state.
This is a great series and I can’t wait to read more
The book started out slow, but as it progressed it grew more haunting. The story had you really wondering whodunit till the surprise ending.
Pulse was a lightweight, decent who-dun-it, quick read.
Love this author!!!!!!!
I’m a fan of this series. Love the character development.
I was surprised by my reaction to this book. I love the author but this is not her best work.
The case starts off as very interesting and becomes a bit flat.
Kate is a good character with flaws and yet a good cop. Mark, cop/best friend, is upset and seems remote on the cases. The cases start adding up and good teamwork is needed to solve the deaths. The first death is an ex-lover of Mark from years ago and explains Mark being upset. But not his aloofness to Kate. And Kate is sleeping with her boss Anderton and keeping it a secret from everyone she works with.
Reviewers act like this is a big secret and maybe it is, but to me, it happens and it falls apart or becomes serious. Not really relevant to the case in the long run or the reason Mark won’t confide in her. Mark has issues that interplay with the case and become a hazard toward the end.
It has a plot that twists and turns a bit. To be honest, too many hints led me to distrust one person and even though it was a shock why I should feel that way, it made sense. Unfortunatel this book was a bit slow, not enough creepiness or scares to bother me to keep reading longer. Took many breaks and the ending was a letdown……no closure for the case, Mark, Kate or Anderton.
Borrow this book if you’d like to read it.
Really like this character and author
