She’ll risk anything to save her child…even the truth.
It’s taken nine years and a cross-country move, but Audra Valentine Wheyton has kept her secrets safe. She’s created the perfect life: a husband who loves her, a daughter she adores, and a position as head writer for an award-winning daytime soap. When her husband dies suddenly, Audra returns to her hometown for the funeral and faces a community that has not forgotten her meager beginnings and the man who has never forgiven her for marrying his brother.
Jack Wheyton is a successful pediatric neurosurgeon who is about to become engaged when Audra walks back into his life with her daughter. He forgave his brother long ago for taking something that had been his, something he hadn’t even realized he wanted until it was gone. But forgiving Audra is another story…and forgetting her? Near impossible.
When a shattering illness strikes Audra’s daughter, she turns to Jack to save her child and risks exposing a secret that will change their lives forever.

Goodread
This author never fails to please!
I enjoyed this book and hated that it ended. I so enjoy this author’s writing style, she makes you a part of the story and has you routing or hating the characters. I was hoping for a chance of bonding of father and daughter once she made the discovery.
Beautiful
This is a beautiful story of loss, forgiveness, and second chances. Audra’s day & husband were going home to see his family. But she went to wake him up but he has passed away. Now is has to take him home and deal with past, the health of her child and find the name of father. Jack doesn’t want to see her, but he has a surprise coming.

The author wrote this book with so much compassion. The characters were so believable. I really enjoyed the book. Can’t wait to read more from this author.
so many unexpected things happened in the book and I liked the inter-action of the family & friends.
The story only works if you believe that people are all liars with their loved ones………which I don’t.
Good book…kept my interest. I did feel bad for the parents that adopted Sara. They really loved her unselfishly and let her go!
This book kept my interest even though I had to put it down frequently because of other demands on my time.
Loved this authors style. Brought heartfelt tears periodically.
I really liked this book! It starts out with a death, deals with small town gossip that can destroy lives, and end with a love story that I did not see coming but had hoped for. Some of the confrontations used vicious words that could tear the heart. The end was a total surprise. It was a great book to read and linger over.
