She’ll risk anything to save her child…even the truth.
It’s taken nine years and a cross-country move, but Audra Valentine Wheyton has kept her secrets safe. She’s created the perfect life: a husband who loves her, a daughter she adores, and a position as head writer for an award-winning daytime soap. When her husband dies suddenly, Audra returns to her hometown for the funeral and faces a community that has not forgotten her meager beginnings and the man who has never forgiven her for marrying his brother.
Jack Wheyton is a successful pediatric neurosurgeon who is about to become engaged when Audra walks back into his life with her daughter. He forgave his brother long ago for taking something that had been his, something he hadn’t even realized he wanted until it was gone. But forgiving Audra is another story…and forgetting her? Near impossible.
When a shattering illness strikes Audra’s daughter, she turns to Jack to save her child and risks exposing a secret that will change their lives forever.

I especially like how the author flits between characters, often explaining same scenarios from different perspectives. Also, how how she shows snippets of the past through the use of secondary characters!
Fast read with enjoyable characters.
This author is WOW. Such real characters, honorable, flawed but honorable. Plus a captivating story, not totally unique but totally satisfying. The reading captures your heart. This book is well worth your time.
Jack and Audra’s story will have your emotions all over the place. They fell in love at a young age while in college, but Jack’s promise had him pulling away from Audra. Finding out she was going to have a child, Christian married her. Jack found out too late that his mistake had reactions. Now with the death of Christian, secrets will be revealed …
This was a wonderful story full of interesting characters. Love the strength of conviction of the main character. Really enjoyed this story.
I am reading this as part of a boxed set, however, I am choosing to review the stories individually.
It’s hard to describe this story without giving anything away, but I’m going to try. Audra has been keeping a secret, and as we all know, the truth always finds it’s way out. I was taken immediately to these characters, all were strong in their …
Predictable, unnecessary sexual details
I had a very hard time trying to read this book. I think it was the type of story that didn’t appeal to me. I actually didn’t finish the book.
What the author saw as e treme attraction I saw as harassment. Waking up to someone in bed with you uninvited is not a positive experience. Could not ide tidy with these characters at all.
I did not enjoy this book, so did not finish it.
Didn’t like the explicit sex, and the characters were unreal.
OK read Ending seemed hurried to tie up everything quickly
Predictable. About a third of the way through the book I was able to predict the ending. About half way through I was able to predict the twist and turns. Have loved this writer for years. Maybe this was a one off.
Way too much sex. Good story line tho.
I found the book upsetting. The male character was so hostile and cruel that it was upsetting that they ended up together. He see ed like The type to abuse her.
