Life is a series of events, one leading you to another. The hell I lived through with my drug-addicted parents led me to the Marine Corps. Committing my life to my country was easy. My brothers were my family–all I had and all I needed. I wasn’t looking for her, but I should have known life had other plans.
It led me to her.
From the moment we met, I knew he was different–I just didn’t realize … just didn’t realize he’d change my life. He was a guy on leave, an acquaintance. Until he was something more, something unforgettable. I never imagined he’d leave ten days later, taking a piece of me with him. Then again, maybe I did know. I just didn’t care.
He was worth it.

WOW!! I am a huge fan of Kaylee Ryan, but I am completely blown away by Pull You Through! AMAZING does not even begin to cover it!
Austyn and Slade’s story is one of my new favorites! There is no over the top or unnecessary drama, just a sweet love story that is very true to life. I love everything about this one!!
FIVE HUGE STARS!!
Pull You Through is exactly what this story line will do to you as you read about a young man who has had a very rough start, was rescued by his grandmother, only to have the one constant in his life to leave him. Alone in the world he does the only thing he thinks he can do, join the Marines. From that point he gains a family for brothers, but he will also find something that he was only able to dream about. This story will bring you through his life, his training, his love and his tour of duty and will have you smiling, sighing and even shedding a tear or two (dozen). It will set you on edge as you carefully tread through the pages, just knowing that the other shoe will drop any minute, but not quite sure just where or how that shoe will land. It will take your breath away.
I loved everything about this story. Of course the lead characters Slade and Austyn, but also the supporting characters. Brandon and Savannah and his parents. Austyn and her family. I loved these people. They took a young man with no one in and made him a part of their family. They were so supportive of him and Brandon as well as they began their career in the Corps. It was beautiful to read and endeared them to you.
The characters were beautifully written and so very well defined. Slade has grown into a very handsome young man as we really get to “see” him when he finishes boot camp. But he is so much more than his looks, he’s sweet, polite, selfless, and when he finally sets eyes on the beauty that he’s only seen a picture of, he’s hit square in the heart. Austyn’s beauty stuns him as he see’s her blonde hair surrounding her head like a glowing halo and crystal blue eyes that remind him of an angel. And that is what she is to him, his angel. And him, well he is her knight. Always protective, always standing tall and always supporting her. Their love will know no bounds.
This is a beautiful story that will lift your spirits, bring you to you knees and then lift you right back up until you are soaring. A story that will stay in your heart for a very long time. I know it will be in mine for some time to come. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. You cannot miss out on this wonderful story.
This fangirl level review is brought to you by ugly cry, full swoon, and sweet overload. I look like a hot freaking mess after finishing this because Kaylee Ryan grabbed all my heartstrings while nailing me right in the feels with this beautifully emotional read. Filled with the sweetest of romance, characters that are so real you can’t help but feel like they’re you’re friends, and the feels. SO MANY FEELS. Pull You Through is one of Kaylee’s best books.
Austyn and Slade are pure magic together. Immediate chemistry builds into one of the strongest, deepest loves I’ve ever had the pleasure to read. Austyn herself is a pillar of strength. The faith and devotion she has for Slade throughout their story was incredible and the sacrifices they both made are awe inspiring. Slade is just as wonderful himself. A lonely heartbreaking past leading him to find purpose and family with the Marines, Austyn was something he never saw coming but he embraced the love they found with open arms. I can’t say enough how much I truly love their story!
“Meeting Austyn has changed my life.”
Slade Reeves’ Grandmother saved him from a life of hell with drug addicted parents, and, although their time together was short, she showed him love and support before passing away in his final year of school. Enlisting with the Marines, Slade learned a life of hard work, respect and brotherhood, going back to the home town of his best bud, Brandon, to meet Brandon’s girlfriend and family.
Austyn Wilson’s best friend is excited that her boyfriend is back from his Military Boot camp, and it turns out he has a friend along with him, and he’s gorgeous! She’s a great friend though, she’ll suck it up and spend time with him so that Brandon and Savannah can spend the 10 days between boot camp, and the boy’s next stage of training, together as much as they can.
But, in spending that time together, Austyn and Slade have a growing closeness that is new to both of them. She’s not been one for easy relationships with the local boys, and what she doesn’t know, that with his background, all of this is also new to him. While there was an element of insta-love, their relationship developed over long distance and took time.
This sweet and slow burning, yet intense book showcases the lives of young men as they adjust to their lives in the military. It is also just as much about the partners who stay at home and keep things going, as it is about those who embark on an exciting career fraught with impending danger, yet are still high on ideals – until reality hits. I loved the dual POV, and believe that Kaylee Ryan accurately wrote the path of Marine training for the boys, as well as the girls coming to terms with still going to college and the career choice of their men. If I had any issue, it’s that I know young men, military or not, use a much more raw level of language!
I absolutely adored the secondary characters, from their friends through to Austyn’s parents who were absolutely amazing. They loved him as through he were their own.
While this books fits perfectly into the New Adult and Military genres, I would also recommend this to those who love the college genre as well, merely because Austyn and Savannah are at college, and this is their lives with their military partners. Kaylee Ryan, you rocked this soul deep book about young career marines and their partners. 4.5 stars.
Wow! It has been awhile since I’ve picked up a Kaylee Ryan book but I’ll tell you what, I’m SO glad I didn’t miss Pull You Through!
Military romance is usually not my thing but this book was outstanding! Slade and Austyn’s story was one of such an amazing connection, I was left completely spellbound by their words and actions. I loved that they were a simple couple, no real drama, no crazy exes, just two young adults falling for each other. They spent almost the entire story getting to know one another, in each and every way. It was truly refreshing to read about two young adults who were more mature for their age and how they truly savored every moment together. The secondary characters, the families, everything about this story was just simply lovely. Even towards the end, when things got tough, it was all handled with no judgement, just with pure love and I enjoyed every moment.
Pull You Through is an emotional story of Slade and Austyn, two people who have found their place in the world…in each other.
This is a 4 star sweet first romance story. It was a low key military romance.
Slade never had anything growing up. Coming from an abusing family he made the military his own. On leave he goes to one of his friends hometown and meets Austyn. She has plans for her life but they will take a shift when she falls for Slade.
This was a beautifully written story without any angst and drama. It was a sweet refreshing everlasting first love.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I recommend this story.
Ms Ryan never fails to disappoint with her books and she surely didnt this time.
I loved Austyn and Slade so much they really made this book.
I loved this book so much, military books are a win for me.
I devoured this story in a day.
Pull You by Kaylee Ryan was a beautiful and emotional romance and with this author, you can expect no less. She quickly became a must-read author for me and stories like this is why. This was a story of true love, choices and life in the military and it tugged at my heart.
Slade’s early life was a difficult one. His entire life, only one person truly cared about him. After high school his commits his life to the marines never expecting to find his other half. When on leave with a friend, he meets Austyn and everything changes.
This was a slow burn romance. I loved how Slade and Austyn shared friendship, love and growth together. I loved the support she had in her family. They were young but knew what they could have was special. Their chemistry and connection was instant, but they took their time and it was so damn sweet.
I loved everything about Pull You Through by Kaylee Ryan. A story about young love and hope. A beautiful and romantic story to get lost in and one I highly recommend!
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
This book is everything I’ve come to expect from a Kaylee Ryan book, and so much more! I knew, going into this book, that it was about a military serviceman, and the potential was there for some serious subject matter. I also knew that no matter how serious it got, that it would be an amazing story! She definitely did not let us down!
Slade had a rough upbringing, and he’s all alone in the world. Even so, he becomes a proud Marine, gaining a whole new type of family. That family led to him meeting Austyn, and his life changing again, this time for the better. Austyn is an awesome friend, responsible daughter, hard worker, and good student. She has her whole life mapped out for herself, and then she meets Slade. Right from the beginning, she is supportive, loving, and just plain amazing! Their entire relationship is both insta-love, as well as a slow burn.
This story is at times heart wrenching, but mostly a fabulous feel good story. It shows how hard military life is on both those that are deployed and those that are left behind. I found myself tearing up, more than once, thinking about how hard this life is for those that serve our country. Austyn and Slade’s story had me on an emotional roller coaster, but left me smiling in the end. It’s a beautiful, well written story, and will definitely be one that will go in my re-read pile!
Love at first sight is complicated by his military career. But they will do whatever they can to make it work!
This sweet story is a long distance military romance. A quick meet and greet followed by a technology romance. Calls, emails, and Skype to enhance the budding romance.
I liked the story but I wish the author had gone deeper with characters.
Reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood
Pull You Through by Kaylee Ryan is the story of Slade and Austyn.
Slade had nothing and no one so he joined the military to make his life. But things changed when his friend took him home on leave and he met his sister…Austyn. They started a slow friendship to more relationship. With Slade in the military it added to their slow build.
Austyn had her life planned out but meeting Slade made that plan change….all for the better!
Enjoyed reading their story.
I read this book after reading a recommendation for it. I am so glad I did. The love story of Slade and Austyn is so endearing and inspirational. It highlights the harsh realities of being in love with a man serving his country but also the deep commitment and love of friends and family. A heartwarming read that I highly recommend.
Pull You Through really surprised me- I was new to this author, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, particularly because I’ve never much been into military themes in my romances, but I absolutely adored this sweet and tender new adult romance, and has quickly become one of my “feel good” reread staples.
Our story centers on sweet, inexperienced Slade and Austyn. Austyn friend’s boyfriend, Brandon, is home on leave, and he brings along his buddy Slade, who doesn’t really have anywhere else to go. They are shy and tentative at first- neither was really looking to connect with anyone, but they are thrust together as makeshift duo so their friends can have much needed alone time. Slade finds himself charmed by Austyn, and Austyn starts to warm up to him, despite the real time stamp on the visit and their budding friendship, charmingly formed in a small town backdrop complete with fried food at a fair. Timing sucks, but they can’t deny their attraction, and they tentatively start to explore it. But, alas, the marine must go back to the corps, and their romance becomes long distance. The plot is pretty straight forward here- we have a little side story and some classic marine love story tropes, but the real focus is on the development of these two characters relationship- together and long distance.
I found Slade to be particularly refreshing in a hero, especially the Marine trope hero. Sure- he has some of those standard things- he’s yummy, stoic, chivalrous and respectful. He’s had a hard life, but has been devoted to his only family, his Gran who recently passed. He’s just as inexperienced as Austyn (which makes their steamy scenes feel SO much more tender and special), he’s shy and tentative in his pursuit, and he’s vulnerable and honest with his emotions- SWOON, a man who can communicate and be emotional. He’s yearning for connection, for family, to be important to someone- and this draws us (and Austyn) right in and really tugs at your heart. And man, does he fall for Austyn- protective, charming, attentive, MEOW.
Austyn is so sweet she’ll rot your teeth- but I liked her. She falls more in the “expected” type here than Slade- that sweet, petite, blue doe-eyed beauty who is a charming good girl and empathetic soul. She sees Slade in a way he hasn’t before, and she pours from her big heart that made me like her- her sweetness felt genuine.
I was worried about the distance element to this relationship, but man does it work here- Kaylee helps our characters build and emotional and spiritual connection before they get too close physically (I’d call this a medium burn), and I really bought it. We also have lots of dialogue, which I appreciated. I see them build their relationship and love brick by brick- you get why they click, the care and love feels real and not just “insta love” or physical, and that was truly beautiful. We also get to see these two “new adults” start to navigate adult life, and marine life, together in a way that felt really authentic – parents were still involved, limits were still set, that felt more authentic to the true “new adult” experience.
I found this story just so charming- and I appreciated the laser-like focus on the romantic connection here- that was the story that unfolds, we don’t need a bunch of plot fillers- that is what real relationships are like, a bunch of quiet, meaningful moments that create the edifice of connection over time- not a bunch of crazy climatic plot points that force the issue. Austyn and Slade were just so adorable- a true feel good romance with just the right amount of steam. Really charming- I’ll be reading more from her.
My words in this review will never even touch how wonderful this book is. The characters were so well written, the storyline had me wiping tears from my eyes and although I started this book at bedtime I could not stop until it was complete. Slade and Austyn’s instant connection could not have been written any better. The reader can feel their attraction grow with every turn of the page. The emotion of their time apart was heart wrenching but not overwhelming. And that last third of the book literally crushed me. Perfection is not a good enough word and 5 stars are not enough!!
“You have all of me, Austyn. My trust, my heart, my soul, every single piece of me.” –Slade
Well, I’m really struggling on writing this review. Not because the book was bad…far, far from it. My fav book of the year, possibly ever. I’m having trouble finding the words to convey how amazing this book was. It had everything I look for…first and only love, dual virgins, no cheating, no OM/OW drama, vulnerable H, an H who is so OTT in love with the h that I almost couldn’t stand it. We went through their journey of finding love, them having to deal with separation due to his military career and everything that entails. I don’t know much about military life, but still I think this author did a wonderful job of showing us what those couples and families go through.
And though the book is long, it’s well worth it. It’s definitely going on my re-reads list and I’m also buying it on e-book and on audio. I’m really kicking myself for not finding this and reading it sooner.
I fell for Slade…hard, like really hard. Safe to say he’s my fav new book boyfriend. Get this book. Don’t know how you’d be disappointed.
This is one of those books that you dive into and the whole world stops turning. The writing is so compelling and yet so simple and that’s the beauty of it. Very few books had this overwhelming power over me and this one exceeds them all. I cannot stress enough the incredible narrative, the amazing characters and extraordinarily simple and captivating storyline. To me Slade and Austyn are real. Do yourself a favour and let them take you into their journey. You will not regret it.
Omg this book was fantastic. I read it start to finish in one go. I just couldn’t stop. It pulled me in. The storyline was brilliant and the characters were really enjoyable to read. I would highly recommend this book. I’m kinda sad I’ve read it now as I cant unread it yo enjoy it for the first time again. But I will definitely re-read this.
Pull You Through by Kaylee Ryan was absolute perfection!
AHH! As soon as I heard that this novel was going to be a new adult military romance, I knew that I was going to be devouring this book as soon as possible. Yup! I was right. As soon as I started reading, I felt my heart going out of control. Not only are the characters so emotionally captivating, but they are also so moving when having conversations with one another. When they spoke, you feel as though they were speaking to you.
I honestly loved every single element of this book. I cannot wait to pick up this gorgeous book in paperback to add to my shelves.
5/5 Stars!
