Life is a series of events, one leading you to another. The hell I lived through with my drug-addicted parents led me to the Marine Corps. Committing my life to my country was easy. My brothers were my family–all I had and all I needed. I wasn’t looking for her, but I should have known life had other plans.
It led me to her.
From the moment we met, I knew he was different–I just didn’t realize … just didn’t realize he’d change my life. He was a guy on leave, an acquaintance. Until he was something more, something unforgettable. I never imagined he’d leave ten days later, taking a piece of me with him. Then again, maybe I did know. I just didn’t care.
He was worth it.

To be honest it has taken me quite a few hours to gather my feelings enough to write this review because I was feeling too much. Even now, I can barely form two words to do this book justice. This book was EVERYTHING. Pull You Through was so raw, and so realistic it had me questioning if this was a true story. Personally speaking, Pull You Through is Kaylee’s best book to date. Going in, I had a tiny bit of knowledge of what it was about, but let me tell you, it was beyond my wildest dreams. I felt every emotion each character was going through so hard, that most times I was left with what felt like my heart in my throat, and that takes one heck of an author to make you feel someone elses’ emotions. I am a sucker for military books, and Slade being a Marine made it that much better. Pull You Through is a pretty lengthy book, but it does not feel like it. Slade and Austyn’s story is not even remotely close to being rushed. It is so well developed, with just the right amount of story, and back story that it does not leave you rolling your eyes because of so much useless information, and a drawn out plot. This book showcases what our military, and their family members go through day in and day out, and it is so heartbreaking. I wish I could say more, and I know I am being vague, but there is a very good reason for that. You want to read this book with out knowing much because Slade and Austyn tell their story better. And I promise you, you will have a newfound respect for our military and their family members. With out a doubt in my mind, you will love Pull You Through, so give it a chance.
This was a really sweet story that showcased a lot of love for the military and support of the military. So the story was more of a tribute to soldiers and the ones committed to waiting for them rather than a romance about these two characters. Their romance was a vehicle rather than the focus. Not a bad story, not at all. The characters were young however, and they had a lot of life yet to live. We get a great beginning to what is sure to be a great life for these two.
Austyn ended up being quite a crier. I can handle some tears but I felt that the number of times she broke down into them was a little excessive. Slade is a great man with a depth of character I wasn’t expecting. We also get to follow the relationship of their best friends a bit more than peripherally. Since both of these couples were extremely close as individual friends before we meet them in their respective relationships we are given another young military relationship to see.
When we first meet Slade and Austyn we get a good sense of who they are despite their youth and I like that they both have a good sense of who they are and that they have good heads on their shoulders. Their connection is relatively quick and very strong. I’m extremely glad Slade and Austyn take their time getting involved intimately because it makes their relationship even more believable. As they progress they have immense highs and lows all connecting to the military and how difficult it is to be on both sides of a military relationship.
Overall, this story was sweet and very emotional. The synopsis was a bit misleading because of its intimation that we’d get something a bit more “New Adult” rather than a paean to military men and women through Slade and Austyn’s very intense relationship. This wasn’t a bad thing, it was just a bit unexpected. The title was used in the story and was my favorite part of their interactions. It was a poignantly phrased way to see love and connection to those who are in dangerous situations and need hope, strength, and support. The ending was incredibly sweet and showed a future for them that was full of healing and how overcoming the difficulties battle has on an individual can give them true freedom and purpose.
This was such an emotionally charged book and I loved reading every moment of Slade and Austyn’s story 🙂
Slade and Austyn are both young, so this a young but legal age adult romance military story at least for me. It doesn’t start like they’ll together but barely know one another then that rapidly changes to becoming friends, though these two feel the connection the moment they meet. Then as friends, they become something more, something with the potential of becoming forever <3
Slade hasn't had an easy life so he decides to enlist in the Marines, it gives him a sense of purpose in his life that it, until he meets Austyn, the girl who would rapidly win his heart and own his soul. They know, as their friendship develops into a relationship that there will be obstacles to overcome like deployments and the distance but they are both determined to make it through because they feel in their hearts that they are meant to be 🙂
Austyn may be young but she knows that Slade is the one for her and faithfully waits for his return when a few months into their relationship, he gets deployed.
There are some scenes that really made me cry for Slade; for what he went through and how he felt when he was young and then for what he went through in his deployment, which causes him to become emotionally detached and starts to affect his relationship with Austyn...
Of course, our girl Austyn, is a spitfire and is determined to get her man back to who he was before his deployment and she helps him and I loved the approach she used. Some may not agree but sometimes when someone you love may leave you, that snaps you into attention and makes you realize that you may lose the greatest thing in your life, and you start to assess what's going on and literally get your head out of your rear and accept the help you need and the help that's being offered to you by your loved ones too. Luckily, Slade does this and these two conquer and get their beautiful happily ever after <3
Lord had no clue what this one was about. I read it simply because I love Kaylee and her writing. Had me hooked from the very beginning. I absolutely love Slade. His character is amazing. After everything he goes through he is still so strong. I love him and Austryn together. The way there relationship builds and grows and is instant. I had to hold my breath through part of this story line. And I even cried a little. It was intense and heart wrenching not knowing what was going to happen. Kaylee definitely has you on the edge of your seat. But she wrote an amazing story. Great characters with amazing chemistry and love. I highly recommend reading this book. Guarantee you will enjoy it . Kaylee blew me away so much I want this for my collection
This is such a Powerful story. Slade was dealt a crappy childhood till, His Gran takes him in, then he felt what being wanted felt like. Now a new recruit for the Marines he is learning what brotherhood is. He never expected to meet the beautiful Austyn. She happens to be a childhood friend of his best friend Brandon. They have a relationship that started out friendly but after a few short days it’s so much more, but he is a Marine, the life isn’t easy Can they still build a solid relationship to withstand the good, the bad and the horrible. The emotions This Story brings you is a perfect combination, I didn’t want this book to end.
Everytime I pick up a Kaylee Ryan book i am never disappointed and this book is no exception. When i first picked up this book i thought wow this one is lengthy this may take me a while I’m a bit of a slow reader but no smashed it in nearly one sitting i couldn’t believe it, well i could because Kaylee Ryan’s writing is so amazing and it’s easy and quick to sucked into her stories
This book had me hooked from the first page i love how in the first part of the book we learn about the characters see where they came from and i pretty much fell in love with not just the main characters but Savannah and Brandon and thier family’s aswell. I feel living Australia it’s different for us when we read stories about the military i don’t know much about it but watching those videos on social media of the men and women coming home this was all i was picturing and it made me really emotional.
This book was emotional from the young love to the growing up so fast and trying to deal with being separated for long period of times was heartbreaking and the fact of what could happen or what might not happen but being so far away from your loved ones made it all seem so real and i felt like i was reading someone’s actual story.
What i loved most about this book was family values i loved how close Austyn was with her family and how the support they had for one another was inspiring i loved their connection but what i loved most was the willingness to bring anyone into their family that served there country was beautiful and also what broke me was when the kids were taught to say thanks to the men were serving was so good and respectful
Slade was everything so innocent but so grown up before his time, with his past and his heartbreak of him looking in to all these families and people in love you could feel his envy coming off the page and my heart just broke for him. He is one hell of a book boyfriend and all the swoony moments he gave made my heart melt
Oh this story had me knots i loved the romance and i don’t know how Kaylee Ryan does she knows how to write and the romance is so sweet.
The chemistry of not only the main characters relationship but the best friends the family all the connections in this book flowed perfectly that this book was like a film running through my head as i was reading it.
Kaylee has done it again with another amazing beautiful story i absolutely loved it and would recommend this to anyone to read just an awesome book that you won’t be disappointed.
Big 5 Stars for this heartfelt military romance.
This is the first military romance I’ve read and I was completely hooked from the beginning! This didn’t feel like some crazy, over the top romance plot. Pull You Through felt like it could have been a true story about two young people who truly fell in love with each other. It is such a beautiful story.
I instantly fell in love with Slade, he didn’t have an easy life, but he didn’t let anything hold him back. He is probably one of the most real male heroes I have ever read. You connect with him, you feel all his emotions. You want him to succeed in everything. I also felt the same way about Austyn. She wasn’t over the top emotional or fake. It was easy to fall in love with both of them and with their stories.
Things weren’t always easy for the two of them, but they didn’t let that hold them back. They found a way to make it work between them, to fight for each other. Because it was so easy to form that connection with Slade and Austyn there were times I felt like my heart was breaking with them.
I do wish we got a little more about their friends though, I would have loved to read more of what happened with them at the end of the story. But, regardless, this is such a beautifully written story about two young lovers.
It’s hard to believe that this is only my fifth book from Kaylee Ryan, but I think that it may very well be my most favorite read of hers to date! Her books just keep getting better and I cannot wait to ONE DAY fo back to read them all because her stories are extremely addictive from beginning to end!
Pull You Through is a powerfully captivating and emotionally raw story about young love. The moment Slade laid eyes on the beautifully sweet Austyn be was a goner and it didn’t take her long to follow suit. Their chemistry was undeniable and their love burned bright for all to see. He was a young marine who had no one to live for until she came into his life. The last thing he ever expected was to fall in love at probably one of the worst possible times…right before he’s about to leave for months of training.
Like Slade, Austyn never anticipated finding the love of her life at only 18 and she certainly didn’t expect him to be a marine. Suddenly her entire world is shifted upside down when he shows up in town with one of her childhood friends. The attraction is evident and the feelings develop fast, but their love is one of a kind.
Will their love continue to blossom or will distance ultimately come between them? To find out make sure to pick up your copy of Pull You Through today!
Pull You Through by Kaylee Ryan. Kaylee Ryan is one of my favorite authors, and I have read majority if not all of her books. Pull you through was a great read it pull my attention from beginning to end. I could not put the book down once I started reading it. Pull you through is story of Slade and Austyn. Slade’s Grandma saved him from a life of hell with drug addicted parents, and she showed him love and support before passing away. Enlisting with the Marines, Slade learned brotherhood, going back to the home town of his best bud, Brandon, to meet Brandon’s girlfriend and family. Austyn best friend is excited that her boyfriend is back from his Military Boot camp, and it turns out he has a friend along with him, and he’s gorgeous! Austyn not been one for easy relationships with the local boys, and what she doesn’t know, that with his background, all of this is also new to Slade. Slade an Austyn’s chemistry is off the charts hot and steamy from the minute they meet. Slade has like her from the minute he saw her picture when away at boot camp. I absolutely loved every minute of this book and would definitely recommend it.
I love Kaylee Ryan as an author but she has outdone herself with this book. This book is one that when you open it you won’t want to put it down. It is so well written it sucks you right into the Slade and his life and meeting Austyn. You fall in love with both of them. It is steamy and beautiful. You root for both of them to pull you through this book and their love story.
This book is a 10 star read! Loved it!
I have thoroughly enjoyed all the books I have read of Kaylee Ryan. This one was just another sweet long distance romance between a small town girl and a young new marine. I can say that this book “Pull You Through” was researched accurately and so amazingly true. I am a veterans wife of an Army solider, so I feel all the pain that Austyn went through. She met Slade Reeves when he came to Kentucky with his marine buddy on leave. He fell in love with an angel named Austyn. The attraction for each other last longer than they expected, so when Slade went to training he kept in contact her. Even though it was going to be a long distant relationship, they felt it was worth it. I loved every time Austyn said to Slade “Take care of you”. I’m so glad Slade met Austyn because he had a tough life taking care of his Grandmother. Please enjoy this great read from Kaylee Ryan.
Austyn & Slade’s story is emotional and beautiful and does justice to our military and their families! We get to experience their instant attraction, friendship moving to love, and their struggle as they work through what it means to be part of the military. Austyn, Brandon & Savannah’s families take Slade under their wings, and that is as much a part of this story as Austyn & Slade’s relationship.
: )
Pull You Through was an amazing book that made you go through all the feelings! I was happy and sad and I even cried a bit! Kaylee’s writing is just easy to submerge yourself into the world she creates and makes you feel apart of it! So easy to get lost into her world of Austyn and Slade.
I am a huge fan of Kaylee Ryan’s books and love me a military man something fierce.
I really enjoyed Slade and Austyn as characters and thought they had great chemistry. I did find Austyn to be maybe somewhat more optimistic and naive to the circumstances of her relationship with Slade and the challenges they would face. I found Slade to be 100% swoon worthy and loved his fierce devotion to Austyn. Despite their short courtship, I truly believe when you know, you know and loved that they had that.
I really enjoyed the beginning of the book with Slade trying to win Austyn over, as well as the letter writing and the ending of the book greatly, but would have liked to see some more depth in the middle portion of the book. Overall Pull You Through was an engaging read. Kaylee Ryan is a must read author for me.
What an incredible read. I don’t even know where to begin. It immediately started tugging at my heart within the first few pages. Kaylee Ryan did a stellar job expressing the emotion and struggles that come with being an active duty member of the service as well as the family/significant other of someone who is serving. I’ve never personally experienced that life but as someone on the outside my heart felt so much for Slade and Austyn. It was a beautiful and emotional story from beginning to end. This will be one that sticks with me and that I will be recommending often. Thank you for another memorable book Miss Kaylee.
Absolutely amazing! Love everything about this book. Slade has been dealt a rough hand in life but does his best to turn that around. When he loses the only person left that he loves he does what he thinks is best for him. He meets more selfless people just like him and finds a family. Then on a home visit with his friend Brandon he meets Austyn. They have an amazingly explosive chemistry. I love the story line and the characters.
This book checked off so many things for me…
Kaylee Ryan? Check!
Military? Check!
Romance? Check!
Emotional? Check!
Pull You Through checked all my favorites! I don’t have to know what Ms. Ryan’s books are even about before I jump into them. This book… all I knew was the cover was beyond amazing. It was sexy and beautiful and just that embrace touched my heart!
I’m all about a young adult romance… seeing the characters finding themselves and finding each other. This was such a sweet and slow-paced story. I felt like it slowly built up and slowly built the relationship up. Slade and Austyn are completely adorable as they fall head over heels quickly but it seems so natural. For me, I found it really interesting to see what it was like for a new recruit and to see what it was like for people to live on base.
Ms. Ryan shares a beautiful journey of two young souls finding themselves and learning about life and how hard it can truly be. I felt the emotion as Ms. Ryan brought her story to life. Pull You Through was an emotional and raw story that touched my heart. It was a story that made me smile through a few tears.
One thing I’d like to mention that many people may not know and since this book is in fact about the military, it seems like a good time. Maybe two months ago Ms. Kaylee Ryan put together a military box, Adopt our Troops, from her readers and fans, or people who just follow her on social media. Ms. Ryan and her fans sent out 9 boxes of goodies the our men and women serving our country, serving for us. I am happy to support an author with such a loving and giving soul!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
A heartwarming journey of young love, heartbreak, and strength!
I was blown away by Slade and Austyn’s story! I was hooked from the start. I loved walking this amazing journey with them. It’s amazing to see what you can concur with a love as strong as theirs.
I laughed. I cried my heart out. My heart broke. My soul soared! I was utterly captivated by this book! Grab your tissues and hold on tight as these two amazing characters take you on a journey full of love, passion, trust, and commitment! AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!!
What a fantastic story! I have come to expect well written stories from Kaylee Ryan. This book is no exception. It is a very emotional story about a woman named Austin and a man named Slade. Slade has a difficult life from the beginning, so of course when he falls in love will be no different. He has nothing holding him back, so why not join the Marines? Then right after boot camp he meets a woman who changes all of that.
What an achingly beautiful written story. Austen and Slade are characters that will stay with you. From different backgrounds, paired because of their friends, but love because their hearts are one. This is a military romance with crystalline vignettes of moments. This story will wrench emotions from you and will spit you out for the better. Thank you for writing such an amazing story and for every military person and families out there, thank you for service.
