***Standalone Romantic Comedy***With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. She isn’t interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. When Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes … becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match.
Suffering from a complete lapse in judgment, Violet discovers just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. Violet believes her night of orgasmic magic with Alex is just that: one night. But Alex starts to call. And text. And email and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts. Suddenly, he’s too difficult to ignore, and nearly impossible not to like.
The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.

I absolutely loved this book!!! I cannot wait to read the others in this series. I haven’t read a book so fast in a long time. This is definitely the book to read if you’ve been in a slump!
Where to start? Violet. She is hilarious. You will die of laughter. She has no filter. But man we all need a friend like her!!!
Alex is a sweet guy! You may not think so with his reputation, but what you hear and read aren’t always the truth! I think Alex is a perfect match for Vi but can they balance each other out?
This book has the perfect balance between sexy, funny and angst. I really enjoyed this book and it’s one of my top reads and I have a feeling this series will go on my list for one of the best!!
Pucked was my first Helena Hunting book and the one that kept me coming back for more. Helena has a wonderful way of combining humor and heat together with characters you can love to make a book that is hard to put down.
Violet and Alex’s one night together morphs into more even though she’s wary of dating a hockey player with a reputation. I loved their chemistry and the development of their relationship as they got to know each other better.
The story is told in dual POV which was perfect to move the story and relationship forward. I liked getting in both Alex’s and Violet’s heads a bit.
Just like with her other books, I found myself laughing loud and often as I read. Helena is truly a wonderful rom com writer.
Pucked was the first book I read from Helena Hunting in early 2018 and I just read it for the second time. I didn’t think it was possible, but I enjoyed it even more the second time around.
This book is laugh-out-loud funny. I laughed so hard at some points. I definitely recommend NOT reading this in public. You will get funny looks. Violet is absolutely outrageous in the best way. She is hilariously unfiltered and awkward and is honestly one of my favorite characters EVER. I also really liked Alex even if he was a big dummy at some points in the story. I love how he doesn’t try to dim Violet’s quirkiness. The supporting characters are also fantastic. Buck is oddly charming and Charlene is the perfect bestie.
If you are looking for a hilarious romantic comedy look no further!
I originally read this book back in May 2015. Five years later this book has still stuck with me. Violet and Alex’s story not only was scorching hot, but beyond hilarious. Super MC and the other outfits just had me in stitches. This book not only sets up the amazing Pucked Series, but Violet and Alex have become one of the most beloved characters in rom-com sports book history.
Violet is awkward and has absolutely no filter at all, and it is rom com gold!
Cheesus where does one start.
This book possible containsone if my favorite characters of all time….Violet….. She has no filters….she can’t eat dairy…and she loves to bedazzle…she really is my best book friend! And then there’s Alex…. Sigh. Did i mention her plays hockey?
If all of the above ticked your fancy then don’t miss this book!
I really enjoyed this book. It’s got fun, sexy, awkward characters and is a fun story. I’m eager to read more by Helena Hunting.
I adored these two! Violet is my spirit animal, I couldn’t put it down!
Helena Hunting has got to be either the most outrageous person at a party shining in the spotlight or the one in the corner smirking while daydreaming about all the possible mishaps. My person experience leads me to believe the later but I can’t possibly imagine someone this entertaining not being tbat way in ever setting.
I seriously hope I get to meet Ms. Hunting because I am desperate to know which.
Violet is undeniably one of the absolute most entertainingly quirky characters ever. She sets the standard for crazy chicks without being batshit, Misery style crazy. Her fascination with MC and subsequently Super MC literally have been punchlines since PUCKED was released. Listening to Violet’s hijinks is just as entertaining and hilarious as it was reading it the first time. I rather enjoyed being reunited with Alex, Violet, and the gang. Looks like I am definitely going on a binge listen!
Hopefully, we can get a Super MC costume crafting class going…
Pucked is my first read from Helena Hunting and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It made me laugh… quite a bit and gave me a bit of angst to go with it (minimal, but just enough in a romcom). Violet is incredibly confident and honest… add in her lack of filter and you can understand why the book is funny. Despite being a wildly popular professional hockey player who has women throwing themselves at him all the time Alex is very much a gentleman who wants something more than a fling. Violet, however, has no desire to date another hockey player, but she is okay with one night stand. When our hero continues to pursue her she isn’t sure what to do about it. Their journey to happily ever after is one you don’t want to miss!
Reading was a total “bookstagram made me do it” read.

I loved Violet and Alex! Her awkward, inappropriate comments when she’s nervous were hysterical! His awkwardness, while not as funny, was adorable! I laughed out loud through this one to the point that my family looked at me funny. u2063

The hockey theme made this book for me! If you know me, you know hockey is the only sport I will willingly watch. We bleed orange and black in this house – go Flyers!
I dove right into the next book and will have a hard time not binging this series! While I don’t love sports in general, I’ve always loved sports movies. I’m finding the same can be said for me and sports-themed romances lately, this being no exception! u2063

This book was nothing like I expected and in all honesty I really struggled to finish reading it. The storyline was okay, nothing new and a bit cliche. Pucked is full of crazy characters, you’ll struggle to find any sanity. Whilst a romantic comedy, I found myself laughing a few times but it was littered with ridiculously childish innuendo and language. Apologies for my negativity because it’s not something that comes easily.
Violet was her own worst enemy, she didn’t like hockey bunnies, but behaved like one. She burst out inappropriately, had no filter and referred to Alex’s dick as Monster C#ck, whilst dressing it up like a super hero. This same character is an accountant, she works in a professional setting, she had a split personality that shouldn’t and doesn’t work.
Alex, has a reputation as hat trick Alex. It has nothing to do with the captain of the Hawks playing ability though. He is a player though, if you believe what the media report, sadly it’s all been done at the hand of his agent. It’s a facade, he’s likes romancing by buying gifts, but when he takes you out romance is forgotten because decisions are made with the wrong head. The sex scenes couldn’t even redeem this one.
Pucked is a wonderful and delightful read. I loved Violet and Alex. They are wonderful characters. Its wonderful written and a good storyline. Its a page turner and kept my interest. I look forward to the next book.
Usually I reject first-person narratives out of hand, so I’m really glad I didn’t do so with this one. Violet’s inner dialogue and descriptors had me choking on my tea and laughing out loud. The dual POV format was all right, too. It was helpful to get Alex’s take on things. Helena Hunting is a keen observer but not tedious, which makes for an entertaining and well-paced read. I particularly liked the fact that Violet, while appropriately embarrassed in certain situations, was also unapologetic and the important people in her family, social, and work orbits didn’t shame her for her healthy appetite for sensual pursuits. I love hockey, strong female characters, and adult humor, and this book delivers on all fronts. I look forward to reading the subsequent books in this series.
It has been a long time since I’ve read this series. Plus it was prior to when I actually reviewed. Violet shows up on so many of Helena’s books that reading this is such an ode to her. I forget how much like her mother she becomes. I forgot how wonderful her mother is. I forget all the beautiful Canadianisms from Alex that make everyone’s beaver shiver. The amazingness of MC, he should literally have his own comic book series. I could see the entire thing. Violet is literally the greatest heroine ever created. There is not one time I’m irritated with her. The majority of the time I’m laughing or just enamors with her. She comes up with things you would never think of. I could not live Alex and Violets story more. He wants her from the first moment yes because of her boobs but more because Violet is so unfiltered. She is a girl of my own heart. I mean every word of this, but thank you for not only a super hot and sexy love story, but a story where you truly adore and want to become BFFs with this heroine. As always I bow down to your greatness and the joy of rereading a book of epic proportions.

I have a confession to make… I won this book a few years ago in a contest and it has been on my shelf since. I never cracked the binding.
It popped up on Audible Escape and I thought, hmmmm, I should check this out.
This dual POV story is super sexually explicit and I must say that if I was reading it, I would have skimmed after the first encounter. The story has a sense of humor and some fun characters. I haven’t read much hockey romance and the story was written in such a way that I was able to visual the way the players walked and played and.. well you get the point.
I did enjoy the story and will continue with the series.
Alex and Violet are the greatest!
I loved Pucked! Violet and Alex were a great couple. Violet was so over the top and I couldn’t help but laugh at her antics and the things that would come out of her mouth. Alex was a good guy and I loved seeing the lengths he would go to to convince Violet she was it for him. Their chemistry set the pages on fire!! If you are looking for a hot, funny, fun sports romance, this book is for you!!!!
I’m seriously not sure why I waited soooo long to read this book. All of the blogs talk about how great it is, and all of the FB posts state Alex is their number 1 sports BBF. I knew I wanted to read it, but I wanted to read all of the books simultaneously… Then time got away from me. I have to say WTF WAS I THINKING FOR WAITING SO LONG!! Holy crap. This is an awesome book
I have to agree with the reviews that states that Alex is the perfect BBF (for the most part)- which you will understand once you’ve read the book. He’s kind of complicated, but not really. He’s kind of a player, but that is sort of a fabrication… He’s just everything.. And Violet gets him, most of the time. This review may be confusing, but it’s just worth every page.
Violet is used to hockey, being that her step-brother is a hockey player and her step-dad is a hockey scout.. She knows how the media is.. She just doesn’t get how it will be when she’s involved. Alex and Violet went through a lot due to media speculations and a lot of dumb mistakes… but that only made both of them realize how much they meant to one another.
This book was full of forgiveness, love, drama and so much laughter that I couldn’t keep up sometimes. Alex was so thoughtful sometimes, when he was trying to be dirty, that it made parts of the book so much fun to read !! I’m on to book 2. Do yourselves a favor and don’t miss the opportunity to read this series. Awesome!!
Alex is the star hockey player on the Hawks and meets Violet, a teammate said step sister, after one of the games. Their chemistry is off the charts from the start. This was a fantastic, sexy story. Violet has a weird sense of humor which makes for a lot of entertainment. Definitely worth the read and I can’t wait to read more of this series!
This was an extremely well written sports romance that drew me in and I could not put down. Violet is a filter-less character who is really fun. I love how free she is with her opinion and and her heart. Alex is hot, masculine, and still vulnerable. Violet takes him by surprise and steals away with his heart before he realizes what is going on. I love how he has to woo her to win her. I laughed out loud so many times while reading this book. It was thoroughly enjoyable. I guess I will be spending this week binge reading the series.
