***Standalone Romantic Comedy***With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. She isn’t interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. When Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes … becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match.
Suffering from a complete lapse in judgment, Violet discovers just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. Violet believes her night of orgasmic magic with Alex is just that: one night. But Alex starts to call. And text. And email and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts. Suddenly, he’s too difficult to ignore, and nearly impossible not to like.
The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.

NEED TO LEARN ABOUT HOCKEY
Violet is a hot mess that says inappropriate things at the wrong time. Alex is a NHL player with a bad reputation and a bad agent. Add with this crazy parents for both of them, crazy siblings, and outspoken friends you get a crazy book that needs to be read.
This is one of my , it’s steamy, hilarious and entertaining! is such a sweet and dirty gentleman who also has a ., having no filter, being straightforward, sassy, sexy and quirky didn’t irk me at all, on the contrary, I find it more appealing. I’m so invested in the story, the characterization was such a . Plus I always loved a book with has a of just like what Alex did. It did not overshadow the romance. Pretty much the storyline counterbalances the plot device and gives a charismatic approach.
I had read some reviews of this book before I got around to reading it and I honestly did not know what to expect going into the book. I absolutely loved the story and the two main characters. The main character was super cute and word vomited around Alex whenever she got nervous and that describes me whenever I am around people that I like. I loved how cheesy their romance is and how much they love each other even though certain things get in the way. I know some people got annoyed with the pet names and innuendos, but I think they made the book fun and made me smile when I was reading.
I just read Little Lies, which was my first book ever by Helena Hunting. It was a good book, not spectacular, but it’s a spin-off of this series so I decided to give Pucked a chance and by Zeus’ beard, I am in love. You know that feeling when you read a book and you’re just like, where have you been all my life? This was one of those stories. I absolutely loved Violet and Alex’s story and I kind of don’t want to read the rest of the series because I liked Alex and Violet so much, who could possibly follow them?
However, if I’ve learned anything from Siobahn Davis’ Rydeville Elite series and LJ Shen’s All Saints series (Bane is book 5 and is particularly spectacular), it’s that I have to give the others a chance because sometimes they end up being even better than the earlier ones. The supporting characters in this book were all likeable and interesting and the rest of the series starts with them so of course I’m reading them but I don’t think any series has ever had such big shoes to fill because Alex and Violet are one of the greatest book couples ever created.
Violet is awesome in every way. She’s quirky, clumsy, talks dirty and puts her foot in her mouth a lot, all of which make her extraordinarily relatable to me. I love the fact that she refuses to be charmed by Alex’s gorgeous good looks or smooth flirting but she immediately snaps to attention when he starts talking classic literature, proving he’s not just a pretty face. He’s got a playboy reputation and Violet doesn’t want to have anything to do with him but he’s so sweet and so much fun, she can’t help herself. The fact that he’s a fantasy lover also makes the decision particularly difficult and Violet can’t stay away.
Alex is the greatest book boyfriend ever. He’s unseated them all as far as I’m concerned. He’s just insecure enough to be realistic and flawed but also self-aware enough to know when he’s screwing up, even if he can’t stop himself. The pain here is palpable for both of them when things go wrong and I rooted so hard for them.
There are a lot of embarrassing moments, not the least of which is getting caught having sex in the locker room during NHL playoffs but it works because this book is hilarious. I laughed out loud more than once, which never happens with books. There’s a lot of sex scenes in this story too and they’re steamy, like turn it up to eleven hot. We learn early on about Alex’s giant monster cock and I expected those jokes and mentions to get old pretty quick, but they stayed fresh because this book is funny.
This is one of my favorite books ever and reviews for the rest of the series will follow but for Pucked, I can’t recommend it enough. I love this book.
Alex and violet are def my fav couple out of this series! The comedy in this book had me laughing so hard. The heat between this couple is so good. I couldn’t put it down.
I kept hearing about the Pucked series of books by the loyal readers on the authors Facebook page, Helena Hunting’s Beaver Den and had to read. I am late to the party, it so glad I made it! So far, I have read books 1-3 of the series and love them. Pucked has a couple of key characters – Alex and Violet – please read them first. Alex is the captain of a professional hockey team and he has been a player until he meets Violet. Violet had her heart broken by a hockey player and has sworn them off. They both love hot, steamy times and meet at a party for a one night stand. Get ready for Violet’s crazy talk – she has no filter The series is about friends and teammates that meet and connect. Strong women, hilarious scenes and sexy guys. I definitely recommend.
I usually enjoy more serious romance novels because some romantic comedy books are just stupid and silly.
This one was wasn’t stupid OR silly, except in the good way!
I really enjoyed the read.
Don’t listen to the lies. There are not two main characters in this story. There are four! Violet, Alex, Violet’s boobs and Alex’s manhood. Okay, so technically that’s two characters and their respective appendages. But really, when said appendages are either sent gifts, asked out on dates, nicknamed, stalked, or made to cosplay, they become characters in my mind. But technically, I suppose this is the love story of Alex and Violet. And boy, what a love story it is.
So I don’t normally start my reviews that way, but I felt the need to because I found this story so utterly charming and funny. Pucked was so well-written! Helena Hunting has made a fan out of me, that is a fact.
I loved Violet and Alex and their story of falling in lust and then in love. It was quirky and hilarious at times. Emotional throughout. Violet’s sense of humor is divine. Alex is a world class ambassador for all things Canadian. I loved their banter, their tender moments, and everything in between.
Full disclosure, this is my first Helena Hunting book and my first hockey romance. Spoiler alert. It won’t be my last of either. This story was witty and delightfully endearing. I must say that I have thoroughly pucked! I can’t wait to devour the rest of this series!
“Do you want to get out of here?”
“Buck will kill you.”
“I can take him.”
I think I’ve read this series more than 36254 times, and It never gets old.
This was my first hockey romance and I couldn’t be more happy about it.
This book has it all: the sexy man , the sarcasm , the spicy moments and so much more!
It’s like being on a never ending rollercoaster of emotions and so much laughs .
I literally couldn’t put it down.
Violet is definitely a very unique and bizarre character , and she’s just perfect the way she is.She has always been around hockey players , so she knows that world all to well .
She thought they were all the same, players on and off the ice. And mostly she was right but then one night of pure passion and chemistry made her revaluate her judgement .
“Why do you want to have a drink with me?”
“Because I like you. Because you’re fun. Because I want to get to know you better. Because I want you to see for yourself I’m not the kind of guy you think I am.”
Alex Waters , captain of the hockey team, with a spectacular playboy reputation and a body of a God . He is so much more, and he is finally ready to show it to the right person.
One night , it’s all it took to make him go crazy for a girl, not any girl , but his teammate stepsister . But it was too late, he had it bad for her. Now he just has to show her who he really is, and hope she’ll give him a shot.
The chemistry and the passion between them was coming from everywhere. It was like fireworks !
“I sleep best when my head is resting on your delicate pillows of love.”
This will remain hands down one of the best hockey romance ever!
I gave it absolutely 326483 stars!
If you do not know Helena Hunting you need to!! She is one of my favs. The Pucked series is so worth your time. It’s awesome, hysterical, romantic and is in the hockey world. Alex is awesome! He is my fav out of this series. It’s fantastic. Read them!!!
I actually enjoyed this much more than I thought I would I don’t read many sports romance or even straight-up contemporary but was intrigued enough to give this one a go.
The whole thing had such a sense of the ridiculous and all Violet and Alex’s hookups together just felt so real rather than orchestrated, it just had a real sense of authenticity that really appealed.
This was sassy and fun and immersed you in the world of professional hockey and puck bunnies of which Violet has no desire to be.
It wasn’t majorly complicated but the humour and situations these two found themselves in more than made up for that fact.
It also has some fantastic grovel scene’s which is the main reason I picked this up you gotta love a good grovel and this one definitely delivered on that front, Alex certainly paid his dues and rightly so to win back his girl.
If you like humorous contemporary and all things inappropriate when it comes to the laughed also a story stuffed full of testosterone then this is your book, it was so much fun and violet and Alex were an absolute hoot.

‘Pucked’ is one of the best series I have ever read. I really enjoy reading sports romance and by the help of the books, I learned a lot about different sports that I wasn’t interested before. As for Hockey, I didn’t know anything about it before but thanks to books and Google I learned a lot I love Helena Hunting’s style and read all her books. If you guys didn’t read any of her work, I strongly recommend you to read one of her books.
‘Pucked’ is the first book of the series. Our hero and heroine of the book are Alex Waters and Violet Hall. Alex is sexy, smart, and successful hockey player, who is the captain of the Hawks. He is also famous for his ‘hat trick’ in the bedroom. Violet is beautiful, smart and really awkward mostly in social environments. She is a recent college graduate who works as a junior accountant in a PR firm that is specializes in sports financial management. So how these two met, we have to thank Buck for that Buck is Violet’s stepbrother, who is also a hockey player and because of his man-slut reputation and a mishap with his coach’s niece, he gets traded to Hawks. Violet’s mom decides that best way to support Buck is go to his first game with his new team as a family. Violet doesn’t enjoy hockey and thanks to Buck and her past experience with a hockey player, she is smart enough to know to stay away from hockey players. However, after the game she ends up mouth-fucking Alex and gets caught by Buck. She tries to make herself believe that one-night stand with Alex will be good but she knows that she has to see him again. After getting caught by Buck, she goes back to her room and convinces herself that she did the right thing by not going back to Alex’s room. But all her rational thoughts go out the window when Alex goes to her suite and asks her if she wants to hangout. After spending the night with Alex, Violet learns that Alex has graduated university with a degree in English Literature, he is polite, concerned and quite a gentleman. But she is sure that she will not hear from him again, because of his man-slut reputation. OMG she was sooo wrong to think that because Alex is persistent. He calls, texts, e-mails and start sending gifts and everyday it gets harder for Violet to avoid him. At the end, Violet gives in and decides to give him a chance. Everything is going good until the media gets involve and Violet decides it is better to stay away from him. But Alex is a persistent guy and doesn’t want to let go of Violet, so what happens…. That is for you to find out
It is a great book. I was laughing out loud one minute; swooning and getting hot the next. Overall, if you are looking to read something funny, sexy and heartwarming, you should definitely go for ‘Pucked’.
Would I recommend this book: Yes
Would I re-read this book: Already did
Would I read future books by this author: Yes
This was my first book of Helena Hunting in 2016 and since then I have read every single book she has written. This book started it all! She is an amazing writer and sucks you right in and makes you feel that you are living the stories with her words. This book is a hilarious hockey romance. The story and chemistry between Alex and Violet…Holy Sh*t! I recommend it and the entire series. Buckle up!
Violet will say what she wants without thinking twice about it. She is a nerd and always has her head in books. Her mom is remarried to a hockey scout and her step brother is a professional hockey team in Chicago. She moved out of the main house over 4 years ago and lives in the pool house of her mom’s property. Violet and her mom Skye have a close relationship, but her mom takes it to a whole new level, that irritates Violet to the max. Violet’s dating history with hockey players is bad and being in a family with a professional hockey player that has the worst reputation, is all it takes for her to swear off players for good. But then she meets Alex and he’s not taking no for an answer.
Alex is the captain of the professional hockey team in Chicago. He also (like most players) has a bad reputation, but the fact that Alex doesn’t comment yes or no on it, has you thinking…is it really true? Alex is starting to get sick of it and wants to set the record straight, but his manager is against it because, any time he’s in the papers (good or bad) it’s a good thing. But no one really knows Alex and isn’t as confident as he lets everyone believe. He wants to be the person he truly is. When Alex meets Violet for the first time, he is instantly attracted to her. He doesn’t know what it is about the cute little nerd that pulls at him, but he has to be with her no matter what. The pull and chemistry is too much to ignore.
Like I said above, Violet has no desire to be with a hockey player after everything she has been through, even if Alex is the hottest man she’s ever seen. Alex knows his “reputation” is a major issue but he has to convince her that not everything you read and hear is true. Can he break down her walls and prove he is not the person she thinks he is? Can Violet keep denying her feeling for Alex and the man whore he’s supposed to be?
Alex Waters is Captain of the Chicago Hawks NHL team. He also has a reputation for being a ladies’ man. Aside form been and excellent player and famous with the ladies, he is also smart, sweet, charming, and above all, a little awkward.
Violet Hall is finance accountant who happens to be the stepsister of the newest addition on the team, Buck Butterson. She is smart, witty, awkward and says whatever on her mind (which is 99.9% of the times something dirty).
These two meet at one of the Hawks away games and they hit it off pretty quickly. The thing is Violet doesn’t trust hockey players all that much (1. because of experience and 2. because of Buck). So of course Alex’s reputation adds insecurities and doubts into her mind.
These two are one of the most hilarious couples I have ever met; specifically Violet and her no edit factor. The way she describes and talks about certain things is just over the top insane. Alex is not as over the top as her, but you can see a little of the crazy in him too. There are A LOT of steamy moments between them and I really liked Alex thoughtful, yet persistent, gifts and messages. They have a weird and crazy relationship, but at the same time is sweet. I also loved Buck and Vi’s relationship as siblings. They banter a lot, but at the end of the day, if one of them needs the other, they are there for them.
If you’re looking for a steamy book with lots of crazy humor, fun characters or simply love sports romcoms; I’ll give this one a try!
I’m not usually a fan of sports romances. This book had me in stiches! I laughed sooo much. The heroine had a mouth on her! Similar to me so I really related. Her fights with Buck were my favorite. She shut him up everytime! I love Alex!! He’s dreamy!
Really refreshing. I kept seeing this book recommended in my book FB group. I just had to try it! I highly recommend this book.
Wow. So many different emotions in this book. Absolutely love Alex. He is such a touching loving character. Violet was an ok character. She was confident but annoying. It’s hot and steamy but a twist of romance. Things are not always what they seem.
I voluntarily reviewed this advance reader copy of this book
I read this book a long time ago, but did a re-read and discovered once again how much I enjoyed this series. This was a fun, witty, charming and highly entertaining story. I enjoyed it.
Pucked is one of my favorite hockey romances. This book (and the rest in the series) are absolutely amazing! Violet and Alex are an adorable couple and so awkward at times. They are also some of the funniest characters ever.
The audiobook is so well done. John Mclaren and Muffy Newtown do such a great job of bringing Alex and Violet to life. Be careful where you listen to this one, you are going to laugh out loud at these two so many times.
Hot and Hilarious!
The following ratings are out of 5:
Audio/Narration:
Romance:
Heat/Steam:
Story/Plot:
World building:
Character development:
The Hero(s): Alex Waters – NHL team captain and hot as sin. He has a reputation as a hockey whore but he doesn’t deserve the rep. He would’ve in his rookie years, but lately he was sick of that scene and the puck bunnies.
The heroine(s): Violet Hall – Violet doesn’t like Hockey players but her step brother, Buck is a good player in the NHL and is on the team where Alex is the captain. She works for a PR firm and is an avid reader.
The Love Story: Alex and Violet have a one night stand when they meet after a hockey game. Alex is intrigued by Violet and wants to see her more, but the fact that her stepbrother is a teammate is a problem.
I really loved the narration on this one. Violet has a hilarious sense of humor and the narration did that sense of humor justice like nobody’s business. I can’t remember hearing of a woman’s body part being referred to as a beaver so many times, and in so many funny ways. She also refers to his Monster member as MC.
This is a great sports romantic comedy with a good story and it is quite steamy as well. It has all the right stuff. I loved the supporting characters as well. I can’t wait to read more from this series.
HILARIOUS & STEAMY HOCKEY ROMANCE!
Okay…listen. Not too many authors can make me laugh. Matter of fact, I have a very small, tiny list of authors that I read, enjoy that can actually make me laugh. Helena hit this list with my first read of hers. WOMAN HAD ME ROLLING!!!!!! I guess I should also admit that she also had me wanting to punch the Hero a couple times too!
Violet is quirky, feisty and strong-willed…which made me love her right away. I laughed so so many times I had to stop reading it in bed so I wouldn’t shake the bed while my husband slept. History has taught Violet to NEVER get involved with hockey players….again! Lesson learned and all that jazz! But when she makes eye contact with Alex all her smart girl rules fly right out the window! It might have been kissing her step-brother’s teammate that landed this girl on the front pages but it was this Alex’s lie of omission that had the world looking at her in a negative light! Watching Alex fix what he messed up might have even had me swooning…sometimes….maybe!
Honestly it’s the heroine and the humor that kept me entertained through this entire book! I loved it!
