Miller “Buck” Butterson has been banging his way through life ever since a puck to the face fixed his messed up front teeth. After five years in the NHL, deflecting goals on the ice and scoring them with puck bunnies, Miller has decided he’s ready for a girlfriend. A real, non-bunny girlfriend to take on dates, and not jump into bed with after five seconds of conversation.
Miller thinks he’s … thinks he’s found that woman in his teammate’s sister. Except, unlike team captain and all-around nice guy Alex Waters—who happens to date his stepsister, Miller’s media reputation as a manwhore is well earned. Beyond that minor detail, Miller doesn’t know the first thing about relationships or the time and effort they require.
Miller learns—eventually—that if he wants to make Sunshine “Sunny” Waters fall for him, he’s going to have to do a whole lot more than show her his stick skills in the bedroom.

I actually liked this book better than the first one in this series! I really liked Miller aka Buck & Sunny together. Their relationship was downright adorkable. Not only that, but it was sexy, funny & frustrating. (All the best ones are, aren’t they?) I couldn’t help but stay up into the wee hours of the morning reading it!
Why was it unputdownable you ask me? Because of Buck’s “bad luck” situations. He got himself into one too many of them & it tied my tummy in knots because I hated how it made things appear to Sunny. Surprise car washes (totally saw that “surprise” coming), puck bunny trouble (seriously, the girlfriend thing is NOT a rumor), manwh*re/not-too-bright teammates (thanks A LOT Lance & Randy), annoying camp counselors (sure they won’t post that pic)… I just couldn’t go to bed knowing that those pictures would upset Sunny & throw a wrench in their already fragile relationship! I needed to go to sleep with sweet Sunny & Miller dreams. 🙂 (And I did!)
This book was definitely a learning experience for Buck. Towards the very end, when he was separated from Sunny for a while, you got to see a little more maturity in him. He was thinking more about his charity & future & was recognizing the fact that he needed to NOT put himself in those “bad luck” situations because they were always blown out of proportion on social media & were constantly a point of contention between him & Sunny. His “Project Sunshine” was such a great thing!
I’ve heard that some people had trouble connecting with Sunny. I may not be a strict vegan or have that granola-y personality but I can relate to how Sunny felt about all of those pictures of Miller that were plastered everywhere. Of course it would’ve been ideal if she could’ve completely trusted him but he did have to earn it, ya know? (He did it too.) Yes, she was a bit of a pushover when it came to her controlling brother but she sure stuck it to him in the end… finally. And I LOVED her enthusiasm towards sex with Miller! It was fun to see her blossom into a lil’ horndog. 😉
Their HEA had some cheese & a bunch of cute, which was awesome!
Looking forward to reading Randy & Lily’s story, Pucked Over, next!
P.S. Miller’s cookie reference to Sunny was a billion times better than the beaver one used in Pucked. Thank you for that!
Loved it, hysterical! Love all the funny/ made up slang terms! Love the relationship between violet& Miller. Brother from another mother …and father! Vi with her overshares is priceless. Definitely a new favorite series! Can’t wait to read more of them!
Poor Buck (Miller), for most of the book the poor guy can’t catch a break. He’s found a woman that interests him longer than one night and he really has to work for a relationship. Not only does she live in Canada but her brother is engaged to his stepsister, Violet. I read part of this book at work, in hindsight maybe not the best decision. People look at you funny when you are trying to stifle the giggles. Miller has overcome many things in his life, can he get past his reputation as a manwhore? He needs to let people see he’s really a good guy who does good things for the right reasons, and maybe just maybe prove to the woman he’s falling for and himself he deserves to be happy.
I couldn’t wait to read Buck’s story. It was everything I thought it would be and better. With Buck being a player that is all he knows until he meets Sunny. Buck is trying so hard but with the media it is working against him. Sunny doesn’t trust Miller(Buck) especially knowing how he is a player but she needs to trust her instincts and stop listening to her BFF & Alex. With an ex coming back in the picture it’s Sunny that has a lot to explain. When they are together u see a side of Buck that only certain people see. Will Buck think the relationship will be doomed or will they fight to be together. Such an amazing book and I can’t wait to Pucked Over
It took me a long time to get around to reading this book because I wasn’t sure I wanted to read Miller/Buck’s story. Boy was I wrong!!
In Pucked, Violet’s step-brother was portrayed as a bunny chasing, slow-witted goofball, but in this book the reformed manwhore is freakin adorable! He’s downright sweet in his attempts to navigate a monogamous relationship with Sunny and his misguided actions often have hilarious consequences. I loved the sibling banter between Violet & Miller, the interactions with the other guys & his pursuit of Sunny. I’m sorry it took me so long to read this book!!
Pucked Up is the second book in The Pucked Series, and it’s the story of Buck (Violet’s stepbrother) and Sunny (Alex’s sister). We met these 2 in Pucked and you could tell they had a bit of a connection.
Buck is sweet and endearing, and dense. He’s so clueless when it comes to having a real relationship with someone, as it’s only really ever been puck bunnies and hockey hookers for him. But with Sunny he really wants to try, he wants there to be more with her. But so many things transpire in this book, to cause them trouble and frustration for the reader! You can definitely tell these 2 are in their early 20s, especially Sunny.
Although Pucked Up is a cute and sweet read, I didn’t think it had anywhere near the fun factor as Pucked, it didn’t have the many laugh-out-loud moments I was expecting and hoping for, and that was a little disappointing. Pucked Up was a little more serious and as I said previously, frustrating. Sunny had a hard time with some of Buck’s past indescretions and she let that cloud their budding relationship. Some of it was understandable, but it got to the point where she really needed to suck it up and not let everyone else influence her feelings. Buck did put himself into questionable situations, and that didn’t help matters. They both needed to work on their communication with the other- part of their problem was that they didn’t talk things through, they’d start a discussion but wouldn’t really ever finish- sex kind of started getting in the way!
I really loved the scenes with Buck and Violet. I forgot how completely unfiltered she was, and how amazingly awkward when it came to Randy “Balls”. She was a definite highlight of this book!
I have to say Alex pissed me off in this one! And I didn’t like that, at all. I was glad Violet stood up to him, stood up for Buck. He really took things a little too far, and I was unhappy with that.
All in all, this was an enjoyable read, even if it doesn’t sound quite like it was! I think by the end Buck and Sunny both grew up in ways they needed to and things between them were infinitely better.
This book was good it took me awhile to finish it, but it was worth the read. Plus I knew this book was going to as funny as the first one. Lol. Miller and Violet may not be blood siblings, but they both are hilarious lmao. That freaking Yeti and Bushman Tiny Dick has me cracking the freak up. Like are you kidding me smh. I wonder how funny part 3 will be lmao.
