Lily LeBlanc isn’t versed in the art of casual sex, but after seven years in an on-again, off-again relationship, she’s definitely willing to give it a shot. And who better to try it with than her best friend’s boyfriend’s best friend? What could possibly go wrong?
NHL player, Randy Ballistic, lives up to his last name on the ice and in the bedroom. His best friend and teammate has recently … recently given up the puck bunnies and traded them in for a real girlfriend. And she just happens to have a seriously feisty, extra-hot best friend on the rebound. Randy’s more than happy to be Lily’s spring board back into the dating scene.
But casual sex is only casual until those pesky things called emotions get involved. Once that happens, someone’s bound to get pucked over.
The 3rd standalone novel in The Pucked Series

Pucked Over delivers everything I adore about the Pucked series- memorable and lovable characters, insane chemistry, ample laughs, and tons of heart. I just adore Randy and Lily- and Randy has run away with this series for me.
I love these two together so much. Sexy, HOT, and so endearing. DID I MENTION HOT? Man is this book full of sexy times. The push pull was just delicious, and the quirkiness of Violet’s personality and all the zinging one liners gave this so much charm and light hearted fun. But we also have the characteristic Helena Hunting depth underneath all the steaminess and humor. Both these characters have real challenges when it comes to having healthy relationships that are rooted in their baggage with their parents. But neither can deny their need. Randy doesn’t know how to commit- and that makes him terrified. And Lily has layers of insecurities from years of mistreatment by her boyfriend, and keeping it casual with her delicious dalliance with Randy isn’t really in her skill set. What starts as super steamy, flirty and playful soon evolves into something more emotionally substantial, feelings come to light, and we get some really meaningful vulnerability that solidifies an undeniable connection- even if they make some mistakes in figuring that out.
I really loved Lily, and Randy- OH MY GOODNESS. Not only is his bearded bunny description scrumptious, but he’s my favorite Helena character yet. He’s SO sexy, but he’s also attentive and sweet and just the right amount of over the top.
This series is just so fantastic. Helena gives these characters so much energy and complexity- while also keeping them fun and hilarious. And we get plenty of time with this crazy group of friends and all their fun antics. We have just the right amount of angst, laughs, and extra steam. Witty, sexy, and heartwarming entertainment!
*5 Stars*
Lily and Randy are easy characters to love, and to enjoy reading. I sped through this one, and I just loved their story. I will admit, there was way more sex in it than I was expecting, but Hunting has written in such a way, that it somehow doesn’t come across as just smut. It was great.
That being said though, it does fit the story perfectly, because these two only want each other for casual hookups, and aren’t looking for anything serious.
There was heaps of fantastic snark and banter between Randy and Lily, and it was just an easy and fun read. We also got plenty of the other guys and girls from the team that we have met already, and man were there some classic moments there too.
There was no unnecessary angst, and things all came together nicely at the end. These two are perfect for each other.
I’m loving this series so far, and kicking myself for taking so long to getting around to reading it. Highly recommend.
Your rebound can lead to your forever After a tumultuous start, Lily and Randy agree to a casual fwb relationship because Randy doesn’t do long term and Lily has just escaped a seven year bout of crappy relationship. Their steamy relationship has its ups and downs and some serious miscommunication, but in the end, they are totally crazy for each other. We got to see all the usual suspects. Loved it. Balls wins us over. Sweet, steamy, and funny
I really loved reading this book! Pucked Over is the third one in this series and the story about Randy and Lilly. Lilly’s best friends with Sunshine and you just feel for her. But the romance going on between Randy & Lilly just takes you away. I actually loved this one more than Pucked Up. Just want a Randy for myself 🙂 There was romance, hot scenes, heartbreak and love. I liked that the other characters from the first two books were also there in this one, especially Violet. Loved her from the beginning with her dirty mouth 🙂 lol. This story won’t dissapoint you and will make you want more! Definitely worth the read!
This series keeps getting better and better. I loved Lily and Randy’s story. The bigger they are, the harder they fall, they sometimes just don’t realize they’ve fallen. Lily dated a loser for far too long, when she finally dumps his lame butt for good, she and Randy decide he’s the rebound guy. Just for fun, no strings, no feelings, fun until it’s not. What happens if the mega, sexy, emotionally insecure hockey star and the skating coach catch feelings and deny them?
In typical Helena Hunting style, there is hilariously inappropriate nearly public sex, awesome banter, and great characters. And then there’s alway Violet who is just generally inappropriate on her best day, let along when she’s faced with planning an engagement party. I love these characters. Lily is the hard working child of a single mom with a grudge against hockey players. While Randy grew up trying to not follow in his father’s philandering footsteps, disregarding his feelings so he won’t do to someone what his father did to his mother and his family.
What happens if the mega, sexy, emotionally insecure hockey star and the skating coach catch feelings and deny them?
******6 MOTHERPUCKING STARS******
We need more stars if I’m to rate this book. Seriously.
I have no idea how I will put into words what this book has done to me, but Randy #BALLiStic is the motherpucking man. This is the best in the series and I don’t know if I’ll ever recover.
Lily has been in a shit relationship for years. Lots of them. We first meet her in Pucked Up and we know that her relationship is kinda shit because even Sunny hates the guy. And Sunny doesn’t hate anything or anyone. Anyway, that just speaks to the level of idiot that guy really is. In fact, I can’t even remember his name.
Anywho. Lily and the idiot ex get into it during Pucked Up. That is where this book starts. A flashback to the scene in the kitchen when Randy gets all defensive of Lily because the ex calls her a bitch. “The fuck you say to her?” Lily, being all confused because someone was defending her did the only logical thing So I did what any hot-blooded Canadian woman would when a hot man–hockey player or not–threatened extreme violence on her behalf: I grabbed his face and stuck my tongue in his mouth. Oh, Lily. This is the beginning of the end for you.
So, a few things about this: Randy is a hot, tattooed hockey player. He’s also a known whore. That being said, after this little weekend in the woods or whatever, shit gets real. He knows he’s going to see Lily again at the engagement party for Alex and Vi and he wants to make sure it’s a comfortable situation for Lily. Naturally, he starts texting her.
Some things that happen in Chapter 1:
He runs a sweaty hand through his hair, pushing it back off his face. It’s wet. Probably sweat-soaked. I should find that gross. I don’t.
Running away should be a sure sign I’m not interested in any kind of confrontation, or discussion, or even getting naked–on the off chance that’s on the table. Okay, the last part I totally want to do. Which is why I should keep running.
Yes, Lily. Keep running. Because you and Randy and bathrooms are a bad, bad combination. The confrontation in the bathroom at this little event is proof of that:
“I hate your perfect face!” I hiss. Literally, I sound like a snake. I grab the lapels of his button-down shirt. Then I shove my tongue in his mouth. Shit. This is the opposite of what was supposed to happen.
Probably not the best way to tell the guy to leave you alone. You should also probably keep your panties in place. If you don’t, things like this can happen: “Where’s Lily?” “She’s gone.” Sunny drops her hair and sighs. “What’d you do to her?” I don’t think honesty is going to work for me here, so instead of saying I tongue-fucked her until she came on my face, I go with, “I think there was a miscommunication.”
Oh, how I love Randy. The chemistry here drips from the pages. As dirty as I thought this book would be, the teasers are HAWT after all, but once put into context, this becomes the sweetest of the Pucked series. I think a lot of that is how these two are in it to “have fun” until it isn’t fun anymore. At that point, they will cut ties. Riiiiiiiiight. Sex with no feelings. Works every time.
At the engagement party for Vi and Alex, they sneak off to a bedroom. Well, that’s where it starts. It never works out for them. “Seriously. Why do we always end up in bathrooms?” “I have no idea. Let’s go get naked on the bed, since that’s the reason we left the other bathroom.” Bwahahahaha. One bathroom to another. These two just can’t have sex like normal people. In normal places. Plus, this is a super sweet scene because as much as Lily is self-conscious about her barely there boobies, Randy finds her–and them–to be perfect. “That guy is a fucking idiot.” I’m way out of my usual zone….That ex-boyfriend of hers has done some damage. My job now is to undo what I can without getting too involved.
Moving on… “How do you know all this shit about her?” “Because Sunny is my girlfriend and we talk as much as we fuck.”
Oh, Miller. Just keep telling Randy things about Lily. Eventually he’ll realize he needs her. Right?!
Basically this book is one sweet explosion that I can’t get enough of. I’ve already scheduled a reread for this because I can’t get Randy #BALLiStic off my mind. I keep thinking of the video and the way he causes her to have spontaneous orgasms and the way he ran up to her and grabbed her and hugged her when he realized she was at the house. I can’t stop thinking about that scene when he is so ridiculously self-conscious and he lets her in. I. Just. Can’t. Stop.
Oh, Helena, what have you done to me? I’ve read no less than 5 books since reading this and Randy is still the only thing on my mind. Damn. Lance’s story better be fucking epic. Or maybe not. I’d like to keep Randy right where he is: the TOP. Because, damn, this man is perfection. And so fucking sweet.
Pucked Over is humorous, heartfelt, and oh so sexy… this one will have you smiling and swooning throughout!! Another fabulous character pairing from Ms. Hunting, loved following these to one their journey, they kept things steamy and gave me a serious case of the feels!! Highly recommend!!
Randy and Lily are skating into hearts and minds. Lily has been doing what she can to keep it all together. She works herself silly and tries to forget that her dreams of Olympic stardom were so unjustly taken from her. After finally ending it with waste that was Benji she grants herself a little respite with Randy Ballistic. With his rugged hockey toned bod and hot as sin tattoos and bread he seems to be haunting her even after their one night of fun. Randy cannot figure out why after some 3rd base time with luscious Lily he can’t get her out of his head. He should have moved on to any number of the bunnies at his disposal, but they hold no appeal. When he gets this goddess in his mitts again he doesn’t plan on letting her get away this time. While he has every intention of pursuing Lily he has his boundaries in place to keep them both from getting hurt. But rules were meant to be broken.
I LOVED THIS ENTIRE SERIES!! WISH I HAD IT IN PAPERBACK FORM SO I COULD GET MY SISTERS TO READ THEM!! I HAVE TOLD SO MANY OF MY FRIENDS AVOUT THIS SERIES!! IT IS LAUGH OUT LOUD FUNNY!!
FrankenWeiner loves Magic Marble ….Awwwwwww
The Hockey Saga continues..
Randy Balls Ballistic meets Lily and what starts as ‘just for fun’ , soon morphs into feelings, scaring them both. The story is full of hot sex & humour . Violet is the best sassy creation of a female kind I’ve read in years. Kudos to Helena for conjuring her up. She’s still mouthy, still inappropriate and still kicks ass.
Randy and Lily go through ups and down to get to where we want them, but it’s cute, hot, fun read
my magic marble glowed like a vegas slot machine MANY times , even with ‘ Frankenweiner ‘
Oh my word I loved these two! For me, this one was my favorite out of the series. I really dug the back and forth between them, it was so entertaining. Great giggles and super hot sexy times. It was a home run for me!
Randy has no filter, “he points at my crotch. “How’s your waxer doing these days? You get your situation sorted out down there?” Randy is quite the entertaining man when he’s half asleep:
I laugh. He’s all groggy and uncoordinated—aside from the hip grinding. That’s very coordinated. “I called a cab. I have to leave, like, two minutes ago.”
“I’ll drive you in.”
“You’re not even conscious.”
“My ***k is. He’ll drive.”
I push on his chest, but he’s not budging. “If I’m late I could lose my job.”
He stops grinding and rolls off me. “Now I have to deal with this alone.” He pats his hard-on.
I loved this book I’m hoping Tash and Lance get one
One Word and one Word only – RANDY! <3
This is my second Helena Hunting novel and I have to say THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE!! Now let me explain, yes this is book 3 in the PUCKED series…I read book 1 (PUCKED) and loved it, but I will admit, book 2 PUCKED UP, didn’t really intrigue me. *sad day*. I wasn’t overly interested in the character “Buck”, so I have wavered on reading his book, but now with that being said, after reading PUCKED OVER, I am slightly more intrigued and may go back to read it. Now, PUCKED OVER that was a completely different story…I mean look at that cover!! Enough said…*lol*I really need to get my hands on a paperback copy! *wink*
PUCKED OVER has this hilarious, sexy, awkward element that I’ve never read in any other book before. The story is entirely unique utterly entertaining. There’s no better way to describe Randy and Lily’s relationship other than “rebound f*ck buddies” and man do they get it on…A LOT! *fans self*. Their encounters are comically awkward, but yet sexy and packed full of lust. It was fascinating reading about their naiveness to their growing feelings for each other. It was like they knew deep down inside that things between them were more than just s*x, but neither one of them wanted to acknowledge it, so reading about that transition from “f*ck buddies” to “lovers” was both amusing and wonderful to read about. *swoon*. And the dual POV’s was PERFECT! Helena definitely knows how to write in both female and male POV’s.
Helena Hunting is easily becoming the funniest authors I’ve ever read! The humor that she puts into her characters personalities and the story line is downright hilarious! This book is packed full of LOL moments. I would recommend this series to anyone that is looking for a good laugh and a fun love story.
Note: PUCKED OVER is a spinoff and I would consider it to be a standalone. Yes, you will get some spoilers from the previous 2 books (PUCKED and PUCKED UP), but it can be read by itself. BUT, with that being said, if you want the added bonus of reading about the secondary characters, I would recommend reading them in order…it’s all up to you!
5 Stars!
This series continues to get better and better with each book. What started out as a funny as all get out romcom with Pucked and then we got to really know Miller and Sunny in Pucked Off. Both were funny with hot as heck hockey too. Now we get to Randy and Lilt’s story. While there are money loads of laughter in this book, this book for me is more romance than comedy and oh how good the story is that we finally get. YES!! Helena Hunting knows how to write that mystery into her stories. I have been wondering forever about Randy Balls and we get the answers and more!! Time to move on to book 4 in this series
JUST HAVING FUN
When Randy, who plays hockey with Miller. Meets Lily, who is Sunshines best friend they seem to have good chemistry. They decide to just have fun until it isn’t anymore. I will say by far right now Randy is my favorite NHL guy.
This series just keeps getting better. I was indifferent to Miller’s pal Randy Ballistic and actively disliked Sunny’s best friend Lily LeBlanc in the previous book and expected to be pretty meh about their story. That was definitely not the case because I couldn’t put this book down. I guess one of the things that draws me in is how much Hunting can make me care or like a character I disliked or didn’t care about in the previous books. That’s skill and honestly, it’s kind of magical.
Lily and Randy’s story is a nice change of pace because there’s no puck bunny drama, no media interference, no pathetic inability to communicate. It’s a straightforward tale of two people whose insecurities prevent them being willing to admit they’re in love. I love Lily now, she’s awesome. It didn’t take long either, because I was in her corner from the beginning, she’s so likeable and fun.
Randy’s very likeable too and they’re both sympathetic characters. Randy’s sleazy dad abandoned the family in their darkest hour, while Lily’s dad never even acknowledged her existence. They both have deep scars due to the family circumstances. Randy won’t let himself get close to anyone because he believes he’s destined to be like his slutty dad, a deadbeat husband and father. Lily is poor and has sacrificed all her life, especially when she had to abandon her figure skating dreams on the cusp of Olympic trials because her sperm donor stopped paying child support and her struggling single mom couldn’t fit the bills for the expensive training.
What starts as a casual fling quickly morphs into more and while they both seem to handle it just fine at first, when feelings start to happen, everything changes. Randy refuses to acknowledge he wants more from Lily and can’t even consider the thought of a relationship. He just doesn’t think he’s capable or deserving. The poor guy won’t let himself show her how he really feels, believing he’d only hurt her eventually. Lily wants more but she doesn’t think Randy does so she ends things. Her friends are there to pick up the pieces and luckily his friends are there to give him the kick in the pants he needs to truly assess his situation.
This is a simple but engaging story of two people who want to be together but just don’t know how to do it. There’s no outside obstacle or jealous third party or silly trope and it’s a very enjoyable read.
**3.5**
Lily LeBlanc and Randy “Balls” Ballistic meet after a camping trip gone wrong tells Lily that her long time on-again off-again boyfriend are actually done. Randy steps up and defends her when the ex says some nasty things. Randy and Lily then share a magical night only to have it all ruined by a misunderstanding the next morning. Which leads to regrets and ignoring and longing on both parts. When they are forced to be near each other they sort out the misunderstanding and give into their chemistry. But it is only for as long as it is fun. Neither one wants a relationship. They just want fun. But we all know what happens with these types of arrangements.
I enjoyed Randy and Lily. They were fun, witty, cute, hilarious and freaking hot. But I can’t say that I really saw them fall. It was a whole lot of funny and smesky times but I didn’t really see their relationship develop. Still enjoyed the heck out of this book and am looking forward to the rest of the series.
Another sexy, entertaining, funny hockey romance that I thoroughly enjoyed by Helena Hunting.
Though I really think Violet is crazy annoying the further we get in this series.
I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked Randy by the end of this book.
