As an NHL player, relationships haven’t been my thing. Shrouded in secrecy and speculation, they never last very long. But then that’s what happens when you require an NDA before the first date.Until Charlene. She’s like a firefly. She’s elusive, and if you catch her she’ll burn bright, but keeping her trapped dulls her fire and dims her beauty.I caught her. And as much as I might want to keep … might want to keep her, I’ll never put the lid on her jar. Not at the risk of losing her. So I’ve let her set the rules in our relationship.
But as long hidden secrets expose us both, I discover exactly how fragile Charlene is, and how much I need her.
We’re all broken. We’re all messed up. Some more than others. Me more than most.

This final book in the Pucked series was full of secret revelations, steam & laugh-out-loud moments.
Loved that Darren & Charlene FINALLY got their time to shine, as I’ve wanted their story since the beginning. It was exciting & oh-so entertaining to learn everything about them & to see their true selves bubble to the surface!
Darren… Oh, how I loved this private, sexy, socially-awkward man. He grew leaps & bounds in the relationship department by the end of this story & it was such a beautiful thing to witness. The leggings & cotton underwear purchases, the re-stringing of the pearls, the beatdown of Frank, the firefly scene in the epilogue… Darren is kinda sorta made of magic & I LOVE HIM.
Charlene… I enjoyed learning more about her & her unique past but I didn’t quite connect with her like I did Darren. The living room scene, the sex expo & the other get togethers were definitely my favorite scenes with her, as I love to see her & Darren interacting with their group of friends.
So, so sad to see this series come to an end but hoping there will be a reunion-type book with this colorful cast of characters later on down the road!
I have been waiting for Darrin and Charlene’s story for a long time, and the author did not disappoint!!!! Both of them have been through so much hurt in their past, my heart broke for them. Incredible story, with hysterical moments and scenes so hot I had to pull out the fan! I adore the love and loyalty this group of friends/family has for one another.
I loved this book! Charlene and Darren were wonderful. I definitely recommend this book, this series and this author. It was a beautiful ending to a great series!!!
I Pucking LOVED this series!! I am so sad to see it come to an end. But if a series has to end, Pucked Love was the perfect book to end a series on. I loved my Darren-induced daze!!
“The Darren Westinghouse, Chicago’s NHL right wing and the most mysterious man in the league.” gets his story!!! It was Pucking Perfect!!
~ Helena Hunting, Pucked Love
What I love about this series is that all of our favorites come in and out throughout this entire book. Darren just happens to fall in love with non-other than Violet’s best friend. (If you don’t know who Violet is, then you need to read Helena’s Pucked series! You will love it!!)
What starts off with a non-disclosure agreement (or lack thereof…) turns into the love of Darren’s life, Charlene Hoar.
“What Charlene doesn’t understand is that my needs end and begin with only her.”
~ Helena Hunting, Pucked Love
With contracts being renewed and trades happening, Darren & Charlene trying to live in the moment and not think about the future. Although these two have been dating for 2 + years, they never speak about marriage. In fact, neither of them have a desire to marry. Not because they don’t love each other, they do! But because they both do not like the institution of marriage. Their childhoods put a tainted view on marriage. I loved watching Darren & Charlene working their way to an I DO!
“I don’t care if our relationship is weird; I wouldn’t trade it for all the normal in the world.”
~ Helena Hunting, Pucked Love
I was dying with laughter throughout this book!! I mean, it is a Pucked book after all…
“Here’s the thing about Charlene: I know what she wants better than she does. And it sure isn’t that f*cking mammoth dragon cock sitting in the middle of the living room floor. Charlene has an incredibly wild imagination, and she love to read every dirty, smutty book she can get her hands on. She also thinks she wants to try everything, but sometimes she jumps in head first and then realizes what she thought, and what truly is, are not the same. So, she’ll come at me with the most extreme of extremes, and I’ve learned from experience and trial and error to feed into it, then dial it all the way back until we’re a few shades out from vanilla. That way she’s not at risk of having a full-on panic attack over the possibility that I might try something she’s not ready for.”
~ Helena Hunting, Pucked Love
The shenanigans that Helena gets Charlene into are hilarious!! Poor Darren!!
Pucked Love also has all of the feel-good moments that you want!
“Charlene is like a firefly, and sometimes that’s what I call her. She’s elusive, and if you catch her she’ll burn bright, but keeping her trapped dulls her fire and dims her beauty. So, I don’t trap her. Not for long, anyway. I might enjoy watching her burn for me, but in the end, I always set her free. Over and over, I let her fly away, even though it goes against every instinct I have. So far, she always comes back. I keep waiting for that to change, and hoping it won’t.”
~ Helena Hunting, Pucked Love
I will tell you that I was a bit nervous that this book would not be able to be read as a standalone given that it is in the Pucked series. I have read the majority of the Pucked books and was afraid that I would need to re-read the series. Turns out that this can be read as a standalone!! That is one of the many reasons that I love this book so much. I feel like a good author can make each book within a series a standalone that still intertwines with a larger storyline. Don’t be afraid to pick this one up if you haven’t read any of the other Pucked books before. You will laugh, cry and fall in love with all of the characters. It will make you want to read the entire series!! Then you will thank me!
Helena, thank you so much for this series! I am going to miss the Pucked family so much. Please, please keep us up-to-date with them! As you said in the end, Darren & Charlene’s story was perfect because they were perfect for one another as well as the Pucked family that surrounded them. This is a story that will stay in my heart for a long time to come!

~ Review by Heidi Pharo
This story was like the biggest puzzle of all times. Since the first book we’ve been putting pieces together, and finally I got to see the whole picture. I loved this book so bad, but it was sad reading it at the same time because it was the last installment in the series. Darren and Charlene were amazing characters, and Pucked Love was the perfect ending for an epic ride.
Hands down, Pucked Love is my favorite Pucked book! It was hilarious, steamy, and heart wrenching. Oh how I wanted to jump into the book and help fix both Charlene and Darren. They were perfect for each other and were amazingly written. I love how Helena Hunting went back and touched up on characters, giving us a refresher on who everyone was and what they did in past books. I hope this series never ends and that we can fall in love with new characters and old ones all over again.
A wonderful end to a series of great characters
Charlene and Darren’s story is funny and nice, both characters are fighting a past that has been holding them to openly express their feelings towards one an other.. their relationship seems perfect because they agreed not to ask or share anything about their own past.. but time is about to change everything, feelings will start to rise to make them want more than what they already have..
Darren is about to retire from the NHL, he is tired to move around, he wants to stay with his teammates and friends but he is also scared that Charlene won’t be following him around.. Darren doesn’t know how to talk about his feelings with Charlene without scaring her away.. he thinks she is afraid of commitment because some sort of past memories and Charlene is also afraid to commit because of her own past and some other secrets Darren hasn’t share..
Charlene has a scary past, she is afraid of commitment or being left alone.. she is also scared to somethings Darren doesn’t understand but with his love and with time, Charlene will learn to finally see that there is nothing to be afraid and that she has many people who will support her and be there for her..
Darren and Charlene’s relationship seems like is not going anywhere, they keep hiding their feelings making it almost impossible to see behind all those walls but they can’t ignore their feeling anymore, everything is changing and their needs for one and the other are becoming stronger..
I really like how Darren wasn’t afraid to fight for Charlene.. he even fought his own demons to be able to hold on to her.. he was always making sure she was safe and felt safe.. I love how slowly he started to see this thanks to some great friends advice..
I also like how both characters evolved so much towards the end of the story.. you can feel them more secure, bolder and even stronger ..
I like that we get to see all the amazing characters from the previous books, you’re going to laugh a lot with Violet and all the other girls they still crazy and fun …
good story and great characters..
What a way to end a brilliantly spectacular and epically unforgettable series! Darren and Charlene has always been the mysterious couple you’ll want nothing more than to unravel and figure out ever since Pucked, and for them to bring everything full circle is just pure and utter perfection. Since it all started with Alex Waters, I think it was just right and so witty of Helena Hunting to have Darren—who also happens to be Alex’s best friend and wingman—as the huge finale of the series.
Darren Westinghouse was the absolute sweetest! I don’t think I ever expected him to rank this high in the ultimate book boyfriend scale, but he proved me dead wrong. He was everything I never knew I was looking and craving for. The way he was with Charlene every step of the way—the way he was so attentive and careful and possessive over her—will just have your toes curling and your insides swirling with heat and endless swooning. You’re absolutely guaranteed to melt all over and fall head over heels for this hunk of a man.
As Violet Hall’s bestie, I think we may have seen more of Charlene Hoar more than we have Darren. She’s as crazy and buoyant as her best friend, but there’s also a certain level of secrecy and guardedness in Charlene that’ll constantly make you wonder. And when her past slowly starts to unfold before your very eyes, you won’t be as surprised to know why she’s so cautious about her background. She’s just the kind of heroine you won’t have a hard time relating with and feeling for. Every insecurity, every vulnerability radiated from her, no matter how hard she tried to hide them, and Darren was unquestionably the perfect match for her because he just saw straight through her walls. He knew how to handle her and he certainly treated her just like his very own firefly.
Pucked Love will surprise you and blindside you with every single page you turn and every chapter you pass. The depth of the story and emotion it held packed a punch I hadn’t anticipated, and I absolutely loved that. Because in the sea of all the laughs and good vibes, Darren and Charlene were still able to squeeze my heart with everything they’ve gone through. This was definitely hot as it was endearing, funny as it was touching, but above all, Pucked Love was a memorable shot straight through the heart I’ll forever carry with me. Just like every other book in this series.
As sad and bittersweet as it is to see the Pucked series come to a close, it will always remain as one of my ultimate favorite sports rom coms and one I’ll always go back to. I’ve loved and have become fully attached to each and every one of these characters, and they’ll forever have a special place in my heart—there’s no doubt about that.
I do wish we could’ve gotten a few more chapters or even an epilogue for everyone in Pucked, but that could also just be me being selfish and wanting more of the crew. Because trust me, there’s no chance you’ll ever get enough of this series nor these characters. Man, what an incredible journey indeed. If you want to laugh, cry, fall in love and get sucked into a hockey world you won’t ever want to leave, I highly suggest you stop whatever you’re doing and start binge reading this. You won’t regret a single second of it.
4.5 Awesome Stars!!
Darren and Charlene’s story pull me in from the very first page and I found myself hook throughout the story and their emotional journey. I love Darren and Charlene and their witty banter, but all the supportive characters are strong and excellent as well. They’re the soul that really complemets not only this installment, but the whole series!!
Author Helena Hunting delivers a beautifully well-written story with the right amount of angst, humor, sizzle, emotions and filled with passionate love. The book is captivating, entertaining, interesting and the characters are well developed and very compelling!!
Great way to end such an amazing series, which I highly recommend!!
Omg people, don’t wait anymore and scuba Pucked Love!!! It has everything from funny moments, steamy moments, awkward moments, a bit of a hit in the feels and a great ending!! Wish this series would go on forever!!! Enjoy!!
Experiencing this story for the second time meant I already knew how it would play out, yet there I was, grinning with such glee and squeeing in delight all over again. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Pucked Love is EVERYTHING. It made me laugh, made me giddy, and had me hot under the collar, and at the end of it all, my heart felt full. I don’t want to play favorites. Oh, who am I kidding? I’ve always played favorites, and I stand by my declaration that Lance Romero is the guy who owns my Pucked-loving heart. However, Darren and Charlene are now my favorite Pucked couple. I swear, these two stole my heart and it looks like I won’t be getting it back since this series has ended with their book. They were complicated and their relationship was complex, but they earned their happily-ever-after and if any two people deserve to have one hell of a fantastic ending, it’s these two people.
This series also has one of the most memorable cast of characters ever, and the entire Pucked gang is here, but there’s a newbie–Rook Bowman, nicknamed Rookie–who I hope we haven’t seen the last of. Are you listening, Helena Hunting?! I’m not going to stop demanding begging hoping this guy gets his own book. It doesn’t even matter if it’s “just” novella in length; I’ll happily take it. I don’t think I’m asking for too much, right? Anywaaay… I digress. Experiencing Darren and Charlene’s love story again also meant that I would have to go through saying goodbye to this series that I’ve loved from the get-go, and after six full-length novels, two novellas, and several outtakes later, it’s all rather bittersweet. I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling this way, but I’m also grateful that Hunting created these characters, wrote these stories, and shared them with us. Five-plus stars go to Pucked Love.
What can I say about Pucked Love? I feel like it was the absolute perfect end to the Pucked series. My heart is absolutely breaking knowing that Darren and Charlene’s story was the last one but wow oh wow did it deliver! I have wanted a story about these two since reading the very first book in the series Pucked. We waited (sometimes impatiently) to find out the story behind the pearl necklace and the Doritos and now we finally know. Darren and Charlene are two broken people who find their broken counterparts in each other. Darren wants to be everything for Charlene but he’s afraid to hold her too long for fear of spooking her. Charlene had been the relationship type either so they are both skirting major secrets about their past to avoid pushing the other away. There are plenty of great laughs and lots of sexual chemistry that nearly melted my kindle it was so hot! This is a MUST READ! TRUST ME!!!
This is more than just a hockey romance. It is about a man and a woman who are trying to see if they can be more than just two people who are combustible in bed. There is no shortage of sexy and sweat inducing scenes, but when you move beyond that you see two people who are trying to move beyond their troubled and broken pasts for a different future than once they ever imagined for themselves. This is a love story that will touch you in unexpected ways and light you on fire.
Darren can compromise and be accommodating at times, “no. Although I’m certainly not opposed to kinky *** games if that’s what you’d prefer in lieu of lunch.” Darren likes to take care of his girl, even if he’s the one who caused her to be in the situations she’s in, “Don’t worry, I’ve got you more than covered.” He grabs a towel from the edge of the pool. “Want some help changing out of your wet clothes?” I liked this book, I loved seeing the gang again and I loved getting a deeper look into Char and Darren.
A wild adventurous ride that is a perfect ending to this series.
Darren and Charlene are a complicated couple. But they are perfect for each other.
5 Stars I highly recommend this series
Pucked Love is a sexy delight that you can’t but laugh with. Yes, Darren and Charlene’s story drew me and I didn’t want to leave the pucked gang! No, heck no! You just get sucked in with the off the wall antics and that oh so perfect humor that just held its way alway through the story.
I am not going to lie. I am not familiar with this series. I mean, I know that it exists, but I hadn’t read any of the books in this series until now. Now I need to go back and read the others.
I will tell you right off the bat… this book is funny! I hadn’t laughed like that in a while. I got dirty looks and eye rolls from my family a few times while I was reading this book.
I loved the characters in this story. I am pretty mad at myself for not reading any of the previous books in this series. I think I would have loved them even more had I read the others, but that didn’t take away from me enjoying getting to know Charlene and Darren.
This book moved quickly for me. I started it, then next thing I knew, it was ending. Between the laughs, the ups and downs, and the laughs, I am not sure how I couldn’t fall in love with this story. The author has done an extraordinary job at writing a sweet and entertaining story. It’s definitely a book I will highly recommend.
Pucked Love by Helena Hunting is the highly anticipated book seven in her bestselling , much loved Pucked Series.
Believe me when I say, you want to read this book. The author and the characters are at their finest. I embraced the Pucked family and their antics and I can’t express how much I love this book and the series. I love the fantastic Violetisms, the witty and fun rom/com, and the comedic talent.
Pucked Love can be rewad as a standalone, but for better understanding I recommend to read the books in order.
The previous books are Pucked; Pucked Up; Pucked Over; Pucked Forever; Pucked Under; Pucked Off and some novellas.
Pucked Love is Darren and Charlene’s story. Darren Westinghouse is teammate of Alex, his wingman on the ice, the oldest player of the group and in general a good guy, dependable. And he loves Charlene with all his heart.
Charlene is Violet’s best friend, an accountant just like her, and she fears relationships, is strongly independent. Both have baggage, are a bit broken and damaged, but find a home in each other. Now Darrren has to convince her to be his forver – easy peesy, right?
The characters and the stories in the Pucked world are wild, free, ridiculous, fun, challenging and everything in between.
I started reading Pucked Love and was immediatedly sucked into the story and the hockey world. The writing is excellent and I very easily connected with the characters. I loved meeting, characters from previous book and learn more about their lives. I recommend the book and give 5,5 stars.
Mmmmmmm, mmmmmm, love me some Darren Westinghouse. Calling dibs, mine, double dibs…all that fun stuff. This is Darren and Charlene’s book from the Pucked series. Not gonna lie, I had been “patiently” *shakes head* waiting for this book. And it totally did not disappoint. This is one of my all time favorite series, this is a group of characters that I would love to hang out with, actually I am pretty sure I already do. Positive I already have a Violet in my group, which is good, since she is one of my favorite characters. We know Darren and Charlene as the super secret couple that we know very little about their relationship dynamic. And now we know that nothing we assumed was true…well except for the fact that they are hot af, that was all true. We get to dive into their world and learn about all the broken parts, the good, the bad and the ugly. These two were definitely my favorite couple of this series, which is saying something. They get each other in a way that few would understand and I loved it. Darren is one of my favorite book boyfriends, he’s sweet, adores her and does not get caught up in his fame and all the things that entails. I for one really appreciate that and him…so mine.
This was a safe read with no om or ow drama. These two were hot af with all the love and emotions that come with that. They were perfectly flawed and I couldn’t put this book down. An epilogue and an hea. As always I loved all the supporting/secondary characters, even the new and uh, colorful ones. This series is always so much fun and so damn funny. It’s a world that you can get lost in and I love to get away there. Thank you Helena Hunting for writing this wonderful escape and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Pucked group.
