I found a new favorite Alley Ciz book! Puck Performance has all the elements of a perfect romance. It’s funny, sweet, emotional, sexy–you name it. Jase and Melody are the perfect match for one another. Loved, loved, LOVED this book!
Puck Performance is another pucking enthralling instalment in the BTU Alumni series.
Ciz’s books leave me in awe of her writing ability; not only does she write ah-may-zing dialogue, but her characters have a level of wit and sarcasm that adds a distinct element to her books that sets her apart from others.
I spent my day enveloped in the BTU Alumni world. As soon as I began, I knew there was no chance I would be able to stop until I read every single word.
Melody was the ideal combination of sassy, sarcastic, and sweet. The more I read the more she stole my heart. She was living her dream of performing on Broadway, and although her circle was small they were the quintessential ride or die type.
Melody and her friends fit in so well in this world, full of wit and a dash of meddling.
Jase was SWOON, so much SWOON. He was cocky, sarcastic, and a heavy dose of dorky, which made him feel more real than your average book boyfriend. What truly makes Jase unique was the lengths he went to protect those he cared about, even if it meant adding more weight to his own mind.
Jase and Melody had an instant connection; Melody refused to participate and walked away, but she soon discovered that Jase was far more creative than she had imagined. Their banter was EVERYTHING, whether they were texting or talking in person, it just flowed so easily between them. The intensity between them increased as their feelings evolved.
Melody and Jase had completely taken over my heart, and every emotion they had swallowed my emotions. Every one of their emotions wriggled its way into my heart, mostly giddy happy feelings, but there were times when the pain they felt was brought to life with such vivid clarity that it shook me to my core.
Puck Performance was pucking irresistible. An engrossing blend of sizzling chemistry, a swoony dorky hero, a sassy heroine, laugh out loud and giggle inducing witty banter, sprinkles of feels, and steam, enveloped inside a world brimming with unconditional love and meddling friends.

I have absolutely loved Jase since book one! Reading his story was beyond what I thought it would be! He was absolutely amazing in his relationship and the feelings he immediately had for his Mrs. potato head. This series is a must read and this book was definitely the perfect addition to the story. Having him get the girl was perfection!
As a former musical theater nerd I absolutely love this book! Having a female lead who is a Broadway star is so awesome and something you don’t see very often, especially paired off with a hockey hunk. And Jase is definitely a hunk!
These two definitely have a fight ahead of them to be tighter, from Jase actually being shot down by a woman to a lie that sits between them. I love both of these characters & their story. Alley Ciz always has the perfect balance of conflict vs humor vs steam.
The audiobook for this is so good, the voice actors do a wonderful job of brining these characters to life! You definitely need to read this book!
My favorite BTU alum to date – hands down. Jase has been one of my favorites since we met in Power Play so his story was highly anticipated.
You should just go commando because Jase will have you ready to rip your panties off. The slow burn … not to mention the tongue ring… is hot as hell!
Hockey and showtunes…. these are a few of my favorite things! Alley has clearly done her research for all the Broadway puns will have you smiling and singing the tunes.
Jase Donnelly will give book boyfriends a run for their money with his dirty texts, attention to her passion, and did I mention a tongue ring?
Ready to be in the spotlight, to chase your dream. Professional and personal? Yup because both of them will make your heart beat, for a different reason but still. You know that saying ” living your dream? That’s this new book in the BTU series about. It’s the perfect mix of dream, hope, and love. She may dream of broadway, but Jase will give her a new reason to live her biggest dream. Because he may be a challenge she wasn’t looking for, she wants to stay far from, but as much as she push it away, it comes right back, stronger and more determined to own her heart.
And who said that the way to a girl heart doesn’t involve some…. potatoes?

Look out world, Jase is one hot potato. Jase and Melody’s chemistry flew off the pages from the very first chapter. The back and forth of the will they, won’t they was so fun to read!!! Jase has been a fun character to read in all of Alley’s other books and now to see him have his own love story was truly enjoying.
I’m a huge fan of Alley’s writing. She writes stories that you can relate to and make you wish the group of friends in her books were your real friends in your life. This book took turns I didn’t expect and it had me yelling at it during one particular scene. This is a must read. Alley’s books are a MUST READ and you won’t be able to put them down.
First book by Alley Ciz and I loved it. This book had so much fun banter between Jase and Melody and with all the additional characters. I laughed so much. Let me tell you there was a lot of sexual tension and buildup. The scenes were quite steamy. Can’t wait to read all the books in this series.
Alley has given me another amazing couple to swoon over in this book. Yes, I have always had a book crush on Jase since the beginning and have been hoping for him to get his HEA. Melody is the perfect girl to compliment him.
And oh my gosh, can the BTU crew adopt me as part of their family. They may be supporting characters, but they add so much to the story, it really wouldn’t be the same without their conversations.
Finally, that twist caught me by surprise…I knew something was coming but it wasn’t that. Well played Alley.
Definitely read this book and all of the other BTU Alumni books that are out there. I can’t wait to see whose book is next.
I LOVE this book! The series started of great and Alley just keeps scoring goals! Jase and Mels! :insert big loving sigh here: The writing pulls you in and you’re living the story right along with them. I feel everything. BTU5 can’t get her fast enough!
I loved it!!! I’ve been waiting for Jase’s story. He was a cocky hockey player, and I’m all here for it. Lol He knows what he wants, and he goes for it. Melody was such a sweet girl, but sassy. Love the banter between them back and forth. They’re fire and so sweet together. (view spoiler) I didn’t see that twist coming at all. It caught me off guard again. Great job there Alley. I love everything about this book.
Can I just add that I’m happy it’s in 1st person? lol I was jumping for joy when I started the book and was in 1st person! Alley did such an amazing job! I have to say Alley’s writing improved so so much. I’m so excited for her! Can’t for more!!!
God Alley and her sexy, cocky hockey players! They get me every time. She writes the best hockey players out there people. And fighters too lol.
She definitely didn’t disappoint with Jase. Hate to say he beat out Vince as my favorite! Well to be honest they both can be since Vince is a fighter. Yessss!!
Jase was not what I was expecting him to be. He is such a romantic and I don’t know why that shocked me as he goes to book club with Maddy! But he was super sweet as well. Funny and cocky to boot. I just love how he met Melody and just started texting her. It was so cute.
Melody was everything and more that I thought she was gonna be. I was surprised with her how much hockey knowledge she had but after finding out why it makes sense lol. Her and Jase together are so perfect and cute, it just melted my heart.

Puck Performance by Alley Ciz is the 4th book in the BTU series, which released this week. Jase is one of those characters that you wonder about throughout the BTU books and you patiently wait to see what his story is, but you’re hella excited and you just want it now! Well, here it is…And Alley killed it! It made me laugh. It made me swoon. It made me fan myself. It peeved me off. This is what I’ve come to expect from an Alley Ciz book, though. Her writing is fantastic and every character that she introduces to us, I fall in love with because they’re so well written and so complex. In this one, I even kind of liked the villain. Yeah, I know…WTF, but seriously. It’s unusual, because Alley usually also writes the best characters we loveeeeee to hate, but I hope we see more of him.
If there’s one thing I can tell you about this book: You need to read it. You’ll love Jase, Melody, and the whole BTU crew as always and you’ll definitely be craving some potatoes. 5 stars.
It’s no secret I love all things Covenettes. They are such an awesome group of friends and family. But I have this issue that once I pick up one of these books I am so completely immersed in their world which is great except for my damn family being so needy and trying to talk to me.
I was so excited to get Jase’s book. I feel like he has been so firmly entwined in the previous stories while still being in the background. But he’s one of those larger than life characters that stood out even as a secondary character. And let’s be honest the Covenettes have these boys well trained so you know they are going to give good boyfriend. And Jase did for the most part.
Melody was a great introduction to the Covenettes along with her two besties. And I love that although the group is pretty incestuous they just keep getting bigger and picking up awesome new members. Mels was absolutely beautiful.
Now I’m going to be honest. I saw that drama coming from their first introduction but even so it didn’t take a damn thing away from it. Except for the chapter or two where I wanted to give Jase a swift kick in the boys. But he came back to his senses beautifully and the conclusion was perfect.
I am so excited to get Maddey’s story next. I am not excited to wait until June for it. But I know it’s going to be well worth the wait because she is so kick arse plus she has all the words. And the whole stalker angle combined with the seal family business and the Covenettes guarantee this is going to be action packed and amazeballs and I really can’t wait.
“Everything about Jase Donnelly just…consumes me.” says Melody Brightly
YESSSS!!! YESSSSSS GIRL!
From the very first moment I read Power Play, I have loved Jase; EVERYTHING about him!
So when this baby hit my kindle I felt like a giddy kid… who got more chocolate than fruit on Christmas morning. It’s an unhealthy obsession, I get that but I just don’t care.
In case my ramblings need any translations…JASE DONNELLY IS MINE!
ON a serious note! 2 important things! The sexy times and the crying! Puck Perfomance definitely had an abundance of hot steamy moments with my man AND also Alley Ciz made me cry with this one! We already know I was so dedicated to Jase before I read the first word but by the time the crying part hit I was already completely emotionally invested that I’m pretty sure I felt the pain physically. Jase and Melody are hands down my favorite BTU couple, which is difficult to say because I actually love them all. I just loved everything, who they are, their dreams and the way they support each other, their little potato jokes…I’ll never EVER be able to look at Mr & Mrs Potato Head again without thinking of them!
The BTU crew is one of my favorite crews in the book world; the closeness they have with each other is something we all often wish we could have kept with our own crews from college or HS…or maybe just life in general. This crew doesn’t let distance or time keep them from being part of each others way in any way they can. For both the small and big moments in life; they are each others lifelines and the way they welcome others into their fold is truly incredible.
I have to say this last little thing. I’ve said it in past reviews but I’ll keep saying it because I feel it’s very important. I constantly see growth in this author’s writing, sometimes it’s the little things and sometimes it’s a big thing but growth is growth! Growth as an author or any type of creative soul is an amazing thing to experience.
Standing Ovation for Alley Ciz in Puck Performance.
We met Jase in the very first BTU alumni novel and I fell in love with his protectiveness from the start. He named the Coven and is the twin brother of the OG convenette, but even he’s not safe from the coven conversations. This book held me captive from the moment I read the prologue. When Alley hinted at a secret Melody was keeping, I couldn’t stop reading and I had to know. With that in mind, I read through this book in one day. Along my journey of discovering the secret, I fell head over heels for Jase Donnelly. He is the hero I have been waiting for. He is a potato loving man after my own heart. He has a heart the size of Texas and loves fiercely.
The text conversations are usually my least favorite part of any book. But reading them and watching these two insanely busy people fall in love over text and phone calls always brought me laughter and tears of happiness. They are so well written and loving and remind you that you can fall in love in all kinds of ways. Alley always has a way of writing realistically and in this day and age, it is so easy to fall in love over text message. This was really conveyed well with this book and I found myself missing the text chats once the book was over. I have loved all of Alley’s men and Jase was no different. I want him all to myself. Alley has a way with writing book boyfriends that makes you wish they were real. This book was so real and heartwarming even in the hard parts. The twist is the greatest thing I ever read, and Alley wrote the feelings as real as possible. The breadcrumbs this story leaves behind as well as the perfect writing had me sending all the shouty capitals to Alley. She knocked it out of the park again and has me waiting very, very impatiently for the next book in this wonderful series.
I LOVE this world and all the whacky, hilarious characters in it. I knew Jase was in for it, I just didn’t know when and dang if the author didn’t deliver and then some with Melody!
There’s no part of these romances that isn’t enjoyable for me. The banter, the friendships, the spice – it’s all there and ticks all my boxes.
Love this series!
OMG, THIS BOOK IS AH-MA-ZING! When you start this book, you will not want to put it down. I cried and laughed through out this book. I loved that movie and tv references as well. So with Puck Performance being about Jase Donelly, I was surprised to fell all the emotions coming out of this book. I literally am emotionally wrecked and may need to get some counseling from the Covennettes after this. I have read books about guys being all dark, broody and non emotionally. However, Jase is not that at all. He has his demons that he needs to conquer and he does. So when he meets Melody Brightly, everything changes. One woman who gets him and can get him to see himself for who he is. She is the one who can reach him in places that even his wombmate could not. However, will one secret that Melody holds destroy all there is of him? These two, are the most down to earth, sweet people who need each other. The chemistry they have knows no bounds and is all consuming. Mistakes will be made by both, but will they be able to amend the rifts made. All I can say is that Alley Ciz literally was pulling on my heart strings through out the book to a point where I felt my heart break for them. I was slayed by the words written in this book and gently put back together like Mr. Potato Head. I love this series and if you have not read any of these BTU books you are missing out. When you do read them, be prepared for some counseling sessions to be lined up. With that being said this book is way more than 5 stars. It is a definite must read.
**This is an advanced readers copy**
Jase and Melody story was so swoony and funny.
The way Jase was with chasing Mels and the way she tried to deny it was what made the story.
I loved how the Covenettes accepted Mels straight away and pretty much forced there meeting. Jase had no chance in organizing the meet and greets.
I totally loved there banter and the potato nicknames
You all HAVE to READ you WONT be disapointed
First off who knew potatoes could be so cute and Can I seriously keep Jase for myself? I fell hard for Jase. Sure he was cocky and pushy but he knew what he wanted. Melody is a rarity in the hockey world. I mean sure she’s a Broadway baby but she also knows hockey and the players stats like the back of her hand. She gives Jase a hard time every chance she has and makes him work for it. These two banter like crazy but I seriously love it!! I loved their text messages and their first date! How seriously cool was that? Jase is a sweetheart but there’s more to him then just hockey. He loves his family despite being annoyed by the coven of women who meddle in every aspect of his life. They mean well and love hard. They help when the men do stupid things and need a big dedication of love. I also love how Mr and Mrs. Potato Heads were used in this book. Super sweet and sexy moments were used with them lol. Also I loved the twist in this book! I gotta say I honestly didn’t see it coming but it tied into the book perfectly. The past was put behind them and they were able to move on. Jase matures a lot in this book. He has some insecurites that he needs to let out and with the help of Melody he does that. They are adorable together! He supports her 100% and she him. They know when to walk away and when they shouldn’t but its needed. These two are definitely my favorite of the couples(don’t tell the others lol) I highly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the next one!
