Isaac Ford seeks help from the detective who put him in prison — now security consultant, Andrew Wen — after an unexpected prison break weeks before his release. Despite an almost twenty-year age difference and being on opposite ends of the law, the attraction between them culminates in a one-night stand that teeters Isaac between turning himself in and returning to a life of crime. His … decision is made for him when he discovers a young man waiting for him at his safe house — the son he never knew existed.
Months later, Isaac has been reconnecting with his son, Dalton, and started a security consultancy of his own, looking for a fresh start. His past catches up to him, however, when he runs into Andrew at the police station, both seeking information on a new thief. Andrew isn’t happy Isaac left that night or that he’s been encroaching on his business, but the passion between them rekindles as trying to one-up each other turns sexual. Neither plan to let anything more come of their tryst until Andrew finds out about Dalton, who he knew in college, and a theft at Dalton’s job forces Isaac and Andrew to work together.
Dalton playing matchmaker complicates things. What’s worse is how easily Isaac and Andrew keep giving in.

I’d give this 10 stars if I could. WOW. Just…wow. Damn, that was hot. This book’s steam levels are off the charts. Just saying. Enemies to lovers at it’s finest. The hate s e x. You’ll never drink hot chocolate again without thinking of Andrew and Isaac. Now that we’ve discussed those things, I will simmer down and address the rest of the book.
The writing was incredible. The way the story was set up and the characters were written it’s hard not to get lost in the story. I loved it. I loved the snarky banter, the constant trying to one up each other, the intrigue, and the characters. Everyone has jokes, and none of them fall flat.
I tried my hand to guess who the culprit was, as I always do, but I was oh so wrong. That was a pleasant surprise. I like there to be a real mystery to all the cloak and dagger. Sometimes, in the romance category, it becomes kind of obvious. That was not the case here. It was nice to see.
I’m hoping that we will see the lovely gents again. They will be sorely missed. Have I mentioned how hot Andrew and Isaac’s shenanigans are? If so, it still bears repeating. It’s just that hot.

I loved this well timed action novel with romance and suspense.
I am in love with Issac and Andrew. Need a sequel soon.
I loved everything about this book. Enemies to lovers, snarky banter, hot hot hot chemistry, a fun mystery and steamy encounters- these are worth the read alone. The first chapter did throw me a bit as I felt I was dropped in the story- but that was VERY minor. The main characters were definitely unique and engaging, their sexual tension was palatable. The rivalry between the two only amps up the heat. The mystery was well laid out and the banter between the two made the bok. There were interesting side characters I wanted to get their own story (hoping!) and the culprit was a nice twist at the end. Definitely recommend!
I laughed so hard! The author really knows how to write hilarious scenes. She also really knows how to write a very good mystery. I loved trying to figure out “who-dunnit”. And I love the cat and mouse play between the two main characters, Andrew and Isaac. They were so Lovable as were the rest of the supporting characters like Steven, Dalton, Kathleen, Luke, Kevin and Riley. I hope they get their own stories too!
This book is BRILLIANT!
Isaac was shameless in his pursuit of Andrew, and he used every chance he got to put his hands on the ex detective. And I really mean every chance, be it the police station, Andrew’s home, Isaac’s office or a back alley. One particular encounter on a rooftop was absolutely incendiary!
Isaac and Andrew’s chemistry was so amazingly written that I could actually feel the air crackle with sexual tension every time they were in the same room…which happened often enough once they decided to unite forces in the search for the thief who had stolen and endangered Dalton’s research. Every moment alone was an opportunity to touch, and it made me laugh that, the more they tried to keep their encounters on the hush-hush, the more they seemed to be discovered. Try as they might, their secret dalliances weren’t so secret, the strong attraction they felt clear to see for everyone around them. Even if they wanted to keep away, there was Dalton trying to play matchmaker or the circumstances forcing them around one another.
BUT, considering their past, when Andrew put Isaac in prison, and their present as competitive businesses, could they even trust each other? Did they have any chance for a future together? That is, if they even managed to catch the thief, or thieves, before both their reputations as security consultants were ruined. Reading through the story to find the answers to these questions was the best fun. Isaac and Andrew had some amazing sidekicks, and I loved Dalton (Isaac’s son) and Steve, Andrew’s brother, too, their interactions full of dry humor, banter and teasing.
The mystery had a shocking elucidation, which I didn’t see coming, and I absolutely cheered for how the author solved the conundrum of Isaac and Andrew’s relationship.
Awesome read. Recommended.
Wow, another new to me author and *fan* this is hawt!!!!
Isaac and Andrew are opposites that have heat like no others, they both can’t resist putting their hands on each other at every opportunity they have and I mean every time. This book has characters that are well written and have multiple layers that peel back over the course of the book, with secondary characters that are just as interesting as the main. The writing was at steady pace that gripped you and keeps your attention from the first page to the last.
This book went from a ARC I was asked to review to being a purchase I had to have.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. Isaac and Andrew met when Isaac was in jail, then Andrew and Isaac had one explosive night. Isaac found out he had a son Dalton so they decide to open up a security service months later Isaac and Andrew bumped into each other and it was getting hot between them.

**First Time Reader** I totally enjoyed this book. It was fun with the humor. A lot of HOTness…very steamy. It had mystery elements that kept it a page turner but not much on the lovey dovey romance which is OK. Andrew and Issac banter kept me entertained and of course their intimate times was well worth me staying up late:) I’m glad I gave it a try and I think others would like it too.

Isaac Ford is former prisoner, looks to clean up his act and start fresh. A current security consultant, his past comes back to haunt him and he seeks the help of the very man who placed him in prison.
Life is just one surprise after the next. Isaac discovers he has a son. Isaac goes to the police department for information, only to run into none other than, Andrew Wen.
Both men are seeking information on the same crime. Andrew is still upset Isaac walked out on him. Mutually willing to walk away from that moment of passion, their forced proximity of working together comes sooner than either wanted or planned. Turns out, Andrew went to college with Isaac’s long lost son, Dalton. A reunion within his son is what changes this entire dynamic. (Ironically, Dalton becomes he matchmaker in this fascinating book)
Andrew is the one man he can turn to for the impossible. But will Isaac and Andrew be able to move forward?

Public Enemy, Undercover Lover by Amanda Meuwissen is the best enemies-to-lovers book that I have read in a long time. Issac and Andrew have great chemistry and plenty of steamy scenes. I liked how Issac’s son, Dalton, kept playing matchmaker. Issac and Andrew are perfect for each other. I can’t wait to read more books by Amanda Meuwissen.

Public Enemy, Undercover Lover by author Amanda Meuwissen was for me an okay book. I guess I wanted to love it more than I did, so the book was a letdown for me. Kinda like when you have a movie you really super want to see and it did not live up to your expectations feeling. This is my first time reading Ms. Meuwissen and I will be looking forward to reading her again.
There is a great flow to this story, and the storyline is well done. For me the chemistry between the characters was okay. Not bad, but not sizzling either. I expected an enemy to lovers’ story to have a little more sizzling tension.
Andrew Wen bodyguard and ex-detective. He is kind of stiff and formal. He gets his mind blown by Ford.
Ford is cheeky and mischievous. The daredevil personality. I loved this character a lot.
What I was not a fan of, is sometimes using character’s first names and sometimes using their last names to address them. For me, I found that jarring and confusing to read. I would have preferred to have the author just pick one way to address the characters.
Overall a pretty good read. I definitely would pick up this author again. If you like a romance with a little spice and twists and turns I highly recommend this one. It is worth the read.
Four Twinkling Stars
Oh boy, I loved the dirty talk and the sexual handling, where you, when watching closely, could see a hand stroking under the table, or giving orders to sexual activities out in the open.
Isaac and Andrew have a past, Andrew was the officer who put Isaac behind bars.
Now Isaac is Andrew’s concurrent in the security business.
The attraction is heavy and there is more than one dirty sexual encounter. They have to work together to catch some thieves.
Still, Isaac will never fully be trusted as an ex-con. And there is Dalton, Isaac’s sweet ever-optimistic twenty-three years old son. The light of his life.
When research is been stolen from Dalton, Andrew and Isaac have to work together.
It seems someone is undermining their case.
This narrative was a nice combination of hot steamy sexual encounters and a captivating plot.
After I got all the involved characters in the right place the story got more and more fun and entertaining. Isaac and Andrew together both demanding and submissive was delicious!
A nice, fast-paced, captivatingly written story.
