I read this book when it first came out, it is not an easy book to read because of the dark themes, but guess what I am reading these books again just because V.F. Mason is such a great dark writer and it appears the darker the story the more I love it, you need to read these books in order because the author just came out with another book Indecency: A Dark Billionaire Romance (The Decent Series and Lochlan came up in that book which I do believe is part of these books)….can’t wait to read again.
What did I just read?!?!?
This thrilling dark read has more twists and turns then any thrill ride I’ve ever been on. It was raw and gritty and had me holding my breath and on the edge of my seat.
Most people only have nightmares when they are asleep. Ella and Pshycopath are living in a waking nightmare. Each battling their own demons and trying to survive them. My heart broke for both of them over and over.
This complex tale of devastating loss, seduction, betrayal, and love is successfully weaved together to bring you the story of a tortured boy becoming a man and the journey of a devastated girl becoming a woman. This story shattered my mind and ripped my heart out.
Ella and Kierian are intoxicating together. Their chemistry is undeniable and smolders off the pages. Even while she finds him to be overbearing she can not deny the pull to him.
The shocking conclusion to this story proves that the heart wants what the heart wants, your happy ending is what you make of it and that even the darkest of hearts can crack just enough to let a tiny shimmer of light in.
I would definitely recommend.
Read and Reviewed for Book Club Gone Wrong
4.5 stars
I’ve been a huge Criminal Minds fan for many years and the blurb on this book sucked me right in. I put this on my TBR list when it was released and I’m sorry I waited so long to get to it. The plot line was so interesting and while I’m usually pretty good at figuring out who the UNSUB is, this one blind sided me. I was disappointed and thrilled all at the same time.
Kudos to Mason for keeping her characters true to their nature, in all honesty I believe Kierian and Ella were destiny. And, while I like my HEA as much as the next reader, I had pretty mixed emotions about the epilogue because, sometimes all you need is closure.
V.F. Mason is a new to me author and Psychopath’s Prey will definitely not be the last story I read by her.
So “Psychopath’s Prey was my first book by this author and I am actually blown away by how much I enjoyed this.
I really can’t wait to have a good old nose into what else this author has to offer.
So I’m going to start by saying that this is one ARC I was gagging to dig into and quite often when this happens my expectations are shattered when the book doesn’t quite live up to the hype I’ve built up in my head.
Not so here, I would even go as far as to say “Psychopath’s Prey has exceeded my initial excitement.
Now that doesn’t happen very often.
So where to start and how much to reveal, that’s a toughy as I want to rave from the rooftops but will try to keep myself in check as have no wish to spoil this fantastic plot for others.
Well here goes.
This is told from multiple POV’s which I loved as I felt this gave a well-rounded multi-faceted outlook on all involved here.
I also loved the way the chapters were laid out keeping you in the dark to Psychopath’s true identity until that final reveal.
I swung back and forward throughout, changing my mind numerous times as to who it was and even when it was finally revealed I still wasn’t really sure in myself who to actually suspect.
Now I am a massive Criminal Minds fan and have watched all thirteen seasons of the show, you could have tickled me pink that this was partially set in the BAU I was like a kid at Christmas a definite front-runner in terms of draw for me.
I also found there was a fantastic array of side characters portrayed here, all vivid and well researched with great depth to them all.
In fact, that was a great strength here I don’t think for me there were any weak links at all.
This was not really in my opinion that dark, but I suppose that’s all in your perception.
I have experienced some very dark and depraved fiction, so found this myself to be relatively mild.
That may not be the case for you, that is one you will have to measure for yourself.
I did wonder near the end of this how events were going to play as I couldn’t see how the end game was going to be achieved.
I was pleasantly surprised and was also impressed at how the author wrapped things up so nicely.
So there you have it, I really cant recommend this enough, give it a go.
Psychopath’s Prey is a little gem that I enjoyed immensely hope you do too.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of “Psychopath’s Prey” of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I AM AN AVID FAN OF CRIMINAL MINDS, HAVE WATCHED EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. This felt like i had actually stepped into an episode of this show so fantastic was this book it literally blew me away, I read the blurb on good reads first and put it on my TBR pile, Finally got to read it and what a read it is, The tale is told by different pov including the psychopath. This is definitely my cup of tea with the story taking place in FBI BAU.
My love of reading murder mysteries is realitively new.
This was my deviation from my standard books. I love the Dark Reads but this is in a class of it’s own.
It was like been a fly on the wall, as We were on the inside of the group looking for a killer and then we are inside the psychopath’s mind. It kept the story flowing with the different POV’s
The characters in the BAU are a tight knit group so when Noah brings in a newbie Ella it takes time for her fit in. This book is fantastic, I don’t want to give anything away. We have team looking for the psychopath who killing and leaving body parts in a wooded area. This book is not as dark as I thought it would be. It was wonderful feeling part of the team I was in there trying to figure who the Psychopath was . I can’t recommend this enough, a book that kept on my toes all the way through. I am now going to look through the author’s backlist.
“Psychopath’s Prey is my first book by this author and I thoroughly I enjoyed reading it.
Where do I start on a book with a genre I really am green with not knowing much about it,and how much to reveal, without giving the game away i’s a tough call especially when I want to rave about it, book reviewing is hard when you want to talk about it, but don’t want to spoil it for anyone else. I hate it so try and not do it to other readers, so will try to keep myself in check as have no wish to spoil this fantastic plot for others.
As stated this is told from multiple POV’s which I love, I wish more authors wrote this way, I love the two dimentionl element to it as I felt this gives a book a much more rich tapestry and a well read story when you can get both points of view
I also loved the way we were kept in the dark to Psychopath’s true identity until that final reveal.
Like any crime sleuth I swung back and forward throughout reading this book changing my mind numerous times as to who it was and even when it was finally revealed I still wasn’t really sure in myself who to actually suspect.
Now again I am a massive Criminal Minds fan and have watched all seasons of the show, One of the best crime shows to come out of the States and with such a rich cast, just like this book there was a fantastic array of other characters portrayed here, all vivid and well researched with great depth to them all.
This was not really in my opinion that dark, all though it is labelled as such, I suppose that depends on the individualand what the constitute as been dark.
I have read some very dark and depraved fiction, so much so I am beginning to think I am depraved my self LOL. But no I found this to be relatively tame.
I really cant recommend this enough, give it a go.
Psychopath’s Prey is my hidden diamond that I enjoyed greatley .
All opinions expressed are entirely my own. I was not giving any book as an arc, I bought it my self so review giving free of obligation.
Looking forward to more from this author.

Intense – Twisted – Engaging
This is one of those reads that takes its time – slowly reeling you in until you find you are trapped within its pages – awaiting that final moment with an almost unnatural glee
Be prepared to be shocked from one scene to the next – just when you think you have it figured out the storyline takes a twist leading you down an even darker and more chaotic path
I almost believe that within this story our Psychopath just might possibly be a paradox
This is my first book by this author, but it won’t be my last. This book had me from the first page and I couldn’t put it down.
It is a cat and mouse game between a serial killer and a profiler. His prey. They story is written in a duo POV so you get all the events from both characters.
The book has me guessing who it would be and even when it was revealed, they were plenty more surprises.
It is great suspense, reading on the edge of your seat book.
Wow!
My first read from this author and just wow!
Its dark.
Its suspence.
Its not for the fainted heart.
Its…love.
There are so many question in this book that are just hard, mind blowing and terrifying to answer.
Why a woman would stay after repeteadly abused?
What is justice?
Will you see it different in the eyes off a victim and the society?
How strong is your love in front of the darkness of your love ones?
And the author answer it in the most eloquint yet honest and i have to say this again, terrifying…ways.
I was stuned from the first chapter. Like walking in a suspence movie, i see every detail the author writes. If life didn’t keep interfering, i would finish this book in one sitting cause i just couldn’t put it down. I’m not going to write long reviews for this book cause i couldn’t for the life of me to keep my mouth shut about this book! I love it! Every single moment of it! I need a support group after this, but this book is a must read! Must must read!
Psychopath’s Prey.
Not much to say really except that this book is amazing!
It is suspenseful, intriguing, mind-boggling, and eye opening.
This is a story of Ella Gadot and Psychopath. Ella has a very tragic past and this pushes her to go into a field that she normally never would have thought of joining originally.
That’s how their paths cross.
That defining moment.
Their start.
This book is all kinds of feels, from intrigue, to “who the hell is it?” to shock, pain, and understanding. It is also filled with lots of heat and the type of friendship we desire.
But most of all, its unpredictable. It will leave you guessing as you turn the next page.
Its gruesome, descriptive, and absolutely enthralling. The story of a member of the FBI BAU and a psychopath in and of itself is intriguing, and the way ___ wrote this story gave it a whole ‘not her dimension.
We get to see the present and snippets of the past that made the present what it is.
I loved it! I love a book that makes you think, makes you question, makes you keep flipping to see what happens next, and this has that in spades.
I can’t believe this is the first I’ve ever read of her books but, if the rest is anything like this, then I’m a fan for life.
2.75 stars
Wasn’t really dark, in fact there was NOTHING dark until about 59%. And then it was minimal. No non-con, or dubious consent and a very small amount of violence (I couldn’t even call it torture) of the h. The worst of the violence were remembered scenes of Psychopath witnessing his father beat his mother.
Not really a romance either, or at least a romance I believed. I struggled to get to 45%, I just found it quite boring and didn’t really feel a connection to the characters. I did eventually with the heroine (I only finished the book earlier to day and can’t even remember her name) but couldn’t respect her. I then pretty much skimmed the rest of the book just to see how it finished. Totally unbelievable ending (particularly given it was an FBI team of 6) felt like lots of loose ends were not really explained.
I definitely enjoyed this book. This is one twisted mind f*ck of a story. Boy, some people really had terrible lives and this book brings that to the forefront. And the age old question, are sociopaths and psychopaths made or is it genetics? Are there really that many around, just invisible to us all? Scary thought for sure. And the ending was perfect for the story.
And I am speechless!
Wow! This book is highly suspenseful, intense, raw and straight up will curb your dark romance fix you been itching to read.
Can’t name names but I loved all the twists and what if’s of you is the hunter.
Author V.F. Mason delivers another knockout story that from beginning to end will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I was intrigued with how all the characters came into play with finding out who this murderous killer was and why they did what they did.
And believe me, when you reach the point of finding out who done it, you will be floored.
Excellent amount of lust, suspense and dark romance to give a fufi satisfy story!
