Psychic’s Spell is book six in the Legion of Angels series by Ella Summers.
First, this series does need to be read in order. Next this was another gripping installment.
Leda returns home to visit her family in Purgatory, but her visit doesn’t go as planned and soon she’s off rescuing kidnapped women.
Their are some major surprises on some of the characters. We finally learn about Leda’s heritage and the others in her family. All of them are so much more then human and each has their own destiny. The overall arc also progress nicely.
I liked Nero and Leda together. Their isn’t much on relationship growth, but that’s ok for now. Their together and Leda doesn’t need him by her side to fight the battles. She’s strong enough to stand on her own or by his side. The only down side with this relationship is that the author kept hinting that Nero might be selected to marry someone else. I don’t like this and hope it doesn’t come to be. These two clearly love each other and have marked each other with their powers, so to do this is just torchere.
There is one other thing that bothered me. The speech marks through the book. We all know that Leda “fights dirty” and that she feels everyone should learn the same. This is something we have been seeing scenes book one. I’m kinda tired of the same song and dance or should say copy and paste that’s done. It’s book six now. We don’t need it.
Overall, Psychic’s Spell had me hooked from the first to the last page. Their is action, adventure, and secrets revealed. Can’t wait for the next installment.
Rated: 4 Stars
Leda decides to go back home for a small vacation. As usual, chaos follows wherever she goes, but this time it’s closer to home when her sisters are taken by a mixed group of mercenaries. Enlisting the help of her family and Jace, her biggest rival at the Legion, Leda attempts to find answers and is left with more questions. And when she does find her sisters, she’s about to learn more than she ever expected about herself, and her role in the universe. Will it be more than she and Nero can handle together?
This was an awesome, action-packed, information-loaded story! There were a few surprise twists that threw me for a doozie too. I think Psychic’s Spell was also the darkest of the series so far, but I am excited to see what’s in store for Leda next!
My favorite discovery of last summer was the Legion of Angels series and I devoured the 5 published books in quick succession. S the more than 7 month radio silence was a bit of a bummer but I was diligently waiting for the news of the sixth books. So much so, that I checked different sites for it daily. I was ecstatic when news of the 6th book reached me even if it was only 2 days before publishing. Anyway Psychic’s spell was another phenomenal installment to this series although it was a bit different than it predecessors.
This book is the part of a series and unless you read the first 5 you more than likely won’t understand half of the things going on here.
Before I get to the part where I list the differences let me rave about the world building a bit. I absolutely loved the world even in the first book, it is interesting and full of possibilities, however what’s the most amazing about this series (other than Leda, of course) is how with each book the world broadens and get’s an extra layer. It’s fascinating and brilliant at the same time; it prevented the full on info dump in the previous books and also presents something to look forward to in the later books.
As for the differences, some of them I didn’t like as much but there were great surprises as well. First there was the recapping that was present more than usual. I don’t really like when there are recapping over pages of a series but I can understand due to the time between this and the last book. Still it slowed down the pace of the plot for me a bit. And the plot was anyway slower than I used to from this series and not just because of the focus of the storyline. Most of the previous books were about big, catastrophic and hectic events, however in this case the actual action takes quite a while until it came to the picture. And even after that the plot was pretty family oriented. This book was less about the Legion problems and more about Leda and her family and the numerous secrets surrounding their origins. Still I loved it and was so happy to finally find out the so elusive heritage of Leda. Yet, it was a bit strange how the new talent that comes with the next level of the legion was almost completely pushed into the background and was almost an afterthought.
I love Leda form the very first page of the first book and since then I only got to like her more. She changed a lot during the series and got more mature and learned to make the hard choices yet she didn’t forget how to be human and to fight for the things she feels are right. She is a rebel, a trouble magnet; sometimes rush but a hard worker. I love her sarcastic humor and the way she holds herself in the face of her strict superior. I love how she more or less follows the rules but have an uncanny ability to twist them in a way that serves her purpose. She is just overall awesome and kickass.
Her relationship with Nero reached a point where it is not the most prominent part of the story. They have a great, loving and cohesive romance but in this book the ugly probability of a future without each other reared up its head more than once. If you read the previous books then you know that the angels marry someone that the Legion found compatible for them and that practically never starts out with love. For this reason Leda fears for their future and tries to keep a healthy distance. My heart is already breaking for them.
This story was fantastic and had a lot of revelations in it and honestly I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
A powerful, immobilising read!
In the immortal war between gods and demons…
One woman’s past holds the key to humanity’s future…
Normally, when I have to review books, I write little notes to help me remember what I need to say but when I was reading this book, I immediately got vacuumed in it that I did not take any notes – that is how absolutely fantastical, compelling and seductive it is!
From the first book, I am been such a huge fan of this series and the author – honestly, when this series ends I do not know what I will be doing after that. I will definitely be depressed and heartbroken but, for now, I will simply enjoy the wickedness, seductiveness and danger of this novel. It is like a potion – healing me but it turns into a poison because I am finished with it and there is no other book not yet so I can heal. This is how insanely good and devious this read is. Please give it a try – you will not regret it.
The book gives so many revelations that my head could not stop spinning – certain mysteries have been answered somewhat. Tension is rising. Danger is lurking. Truths are revealed. True natures are discovered. Gods, this was a perfect read. With each book in this series, it keeps on getting better and better than the previous one.
Full of gods, powers, action, adventure, angels, secrecy, demigods, surprises, truths, danger, trust and love.
Perfect for readers of paranormal romance/urban fantasy.
I love this series. It is a one-click for me. I love Leda and her family and friends. Ella does a great job of building a world with angels that is refreshing and new.
Leda’s vacation back home in Purgatory goes awry when her hometown is attacked and young girls are kidnapped. To save the victims and defeat the strange mercenaries who have somehow acquired abilities they shouldn’t have it will take the help of both Leda’s remaining family and a some of her fellow legion members. Leda works towards gaining her next ability and some enlightening truths are uncovered.
Loved the latest book in the LoA series. This series has really got me hooked and I can’t wait to find out what it’s all been leading up to. As always, Nero was a completely drool worthy love interest and there seemed to be some tension between them about the future, so I’m curious to see how that conversation will play out. I also liked seeing more of Jace and seeing how his rivalry with Leda plays out, though he did kinda disappear at the end. Otherwise, it totally had me hooked and the revelations about her sister definitely took me off guard.
A fun read and I’m already feeling impatient for the next one.
