Not all monsters are evil. Serenity should know… She is one… constant threat of the hungry demon within.
But one slip is all it takes for the façade to unravel.
Exiled to Midnight, a district filled with moonlight and monsters, Serenity must find her place among the supernaturals and freaks. Being drafted into the Nephilim Protectorate, the only line of defence between humans and dangerous magic, means proving her worth while battling to control her demon hunger. It won’t be easy, but with the help of the protectorate men, and their terrifying charismatic leader, it may just be possible, because a malevolent force is rising, and Serenity may be the only one with the power to stop it.

What a fantastic and unique series, blending action-packed urban fantasy with the romantic tension of a reverse harem. Will definitely be reading more by Debbie Cassidy
The story is unique, the characters are likable and the FMC is snarky, smart and kick ass. The differentiation btw the two cities is interesting and the different groups also. The villains in this case couldn’t be more terrifying, one of my most feared.
I loved everything about this series of books and just couldn’t put them down, fantastically written with stunning and captivating characters, Multi layers of sub plots that are easily followed and wonderful action with romance. A must read for so many reasons. I am sure you will love these books as much as I did.
I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the first book in this series, and also the first book I’ve read so far by this author, but it gave me a clear picture of the characters and their current circumstances in life.
There is a wide mix of supernatural creatures that reside in Midnight, and though Serenity has lived in Sunset since her adoption all of these years, and even gone so far as to deny herself the basic sustenance she craves to survive in a community of humans in Sunset so she could be there for her sister, she discovers Midnight does not really match up with what she had come to expect.
The world building in this book is amazing, and I can’t wait to read more from this author. I would recommend this book to readers that are fans of dark urban fantasy that include a variety of supernatural creatures.
I discovered Ms. Cassidy by reading a previous series and fell in love with her story telling genius. This newest adventure looks to be even better. Follow along with the main character, Serenity, and be swept up into a world of angels, nephilim, succubus and sirens, and all sorts of other creepy crawly inhabitants. Excellent world building. I am already invested in this series and intended to read the next book as soon as it comes out.
Debbie Cassidy has a wonderful creative mind and has built a fantastic new world for us to explore as we follow Serenity’s journey as she struggles to find her way in Protector of Midnight. This is the first book in a new series and it includes exciting characters, great world-building and a fascinating storyline. It is definitely action packed, full of mystery and suspense and possibly a romantic interest. There is a lot of turmoil, unsettled feelings, tough decisions and secrets floating among the characters. However you can tell that they have strong bonds amongst them and they rely on and trust each other completely to have each other’s backs in a battle.
After growing up in Sunset, as a human, Serenity is thrust into a new world with new friends and allies and new enemies when her life comes crashing down and she is exposed for what she really is. She is scared but puts on a brave face for the little sister she leaves behind as she is outcast to Midnight, where her kind lives. Once there she is given the opportunity to join the Protectorate, an elite team of monster hunters, but has to learn to navigate an entire new world, with new rules. She is determined to keep herself in check, refusing to let the hunger beating within her take control. But when a harrowing situation arises and she is left with no choice but to embrace the hunger within…who will ultimately take the reins and when the situation is resolved will those involved be the same? This is a series so the first book ends on a cliffhanger and a gasping one at that. I will be anxiously awaiting the second book to see what happens next. *I voluntarily read/reviewed an ARC of this book.
