Not a stand alone
cliffhanger! Enjoyed book, but will never know how it ends.
“Protecting the Heiress” (nook) was an interesting story. The plot was good and the slow reveal of the characters was a plus. I was very surprised though to see that there were three (3) first person viewpoints.
I rate it between 3-1/2 stars and 4 stars. I prefer stand-a-lone books and would not have chosen this one if I had known it was the first in a duet. The overview does not make that clear.
This is Book 1 of The Heiress Duet .
This is Part 1 the story of Jax & Neela. Ariel is starting her own business called Royal Elite, a security and investigative business. Jax is recruited by Ariel and a job comes up that needs a Nanny. Neela has inherited her best friend, Willa’s estate and holdings. Willa also named Neela as her daughter, Mayzie’s guardian. Neela also needs security, but she would never agree to it. Willa’s lawyer hires Ariel’s company to do both simultaneously. Jax and Trace and Tasmin, two other employees of Ariel, and Ariel herself when available, takes turns being the Nanny and security, both. Jax is there most of the time. He’s good with children because he has nieces and nephews. Jax and Neela were attracted to each other right away. Things happened slowly between them, but then she finds something that belonged to him. This is where there’s a bit of a cliffhanger. This first part of the story is great. Can’t wait to read Book 2.
Gah I’m a complete sucker for a Nana Malone book especially one that involves her royals.
As soon as I seen these upcoming books from this incredible woman I just knew I HAD to read them. There wasn’t a single doubt in my mind that I’d love it and I was 100% right. Protecting the Heiress was amazing.
When we seen Ariel last she was waking away from the royal guard after the incident and was getting ready to start up her own business. Meeting new people to add to her team that had beeb specially recommended, the first up being Jax Reynolds, former Royal Guard. A man of honour that’ll do anything to be back on the guard team.
The first job they’re trusted with is protecting a baby, a heiress who’s mother just died and her new guardian, Neela.
Neela is desperate for help after being left legal guardian to a baby she doesn’t know from her best friend she hasn’t seen in forever. Deciding on getting a nanny she gets more than she bargained for when the nanny makes an appearance in form of a huge muscular man.
Watching these two get to know each other as he looks after them is so damn lovely to watch. They’ve both suffered at the hands of people who were supposed to love and care about them and it’s put barriers up for both of them so even though there’s a possible attraction and their chemistry is so damn hot it could melt the panties off of a nun neither act on it until they can’t turn away.
Neela and Jax are something else. As soon as we were introduced to Neela in this book I knew she would be a good fit for Jax. I just knew they’d hit it off and I was right. They’re fun, beautiful and amazing.
I love that Nana added our beloved king into this story because that just makes it so much better, I love this family and I can’t wait for more from them. I really hope we get more of a story for Ariel and Tristan I feel like there’s more to that than we think.
Ok, I’m gonna stop now or this will go on forever.
Protecting the Heiress is fun, a little angsty and packed when sexual chemistry. Nana Malone sure knows how to smash these Royal books and their guards.
Nana has done it again!!! I can’t get enough of the Royal series!! Jax and Neela’s story is suspenseful and romantic, with a strong chemistry that they can’t deny. I really enjoy reading their story and the mystery that leaves you wanting to know what happens next. I can’t wait to read the second part!!
Protecting the Heiress by Nana Malone is the first book in the brand new Heiress Duet. Since leaving the Royal Guard, Ariel has been putting together her own security firm. First employee – Jax. Previously of the Royal Guard, like herself, she knows that after what he has been through he’d do almost anything to get back into the elite Royal Guard. Including taking on his first job for her company as a manny!
Jax knows he is in trouble when he meets the client, or rather the woman (and baby) the client wants him to protect. It only takes one glance at Neela to understand on a visceral level that she could very well be his Kryptonite.
Neela wants one thing in life – peace and quiet in which to successfully run her business but with the death of her childhood best friend and the sudden guardianship of said best friends 13 month old daughter thrust upon her she is spinning out of control. Add in the almost kidnapping and the strange threatening letters and she is ever so glad she has such a capable and protective “manny” in the house. That is until she finds out who the manny really is. But let’s face it – Jax couldn’t keep the secret forever – he only had to keep his hands off the client. #MissionFail.
Steamy, hot, well-written and well-paced I am rapidly falling head over heels with this author and am excited for book two, Tempting the Heiress. Enjoy!
Very enjoyable book one of the series!!!! Nana Malone never disappoints in writing A story that make us fall in love with the characters. Neela and Jax have a chemistry from the start and as their relationship grows things get more and more crazy. Cannot wait for book two.
This is a new to me author. And I love her! This book is the first part of a two book set. So I really can’t give a true review when this ends in a cliffhanger. I can tell you that every aspect of this book is enjoyable. The premise is so adorable, I don’t remember ever reading a book like this before. There are a lot of secondary characters in this story that have been introduced in previous related books. I have to say I am intrigued to read all those books.
So just a quick recap…..Jax and Neela…..
Jax is going undercover to protect an adorable baby girl from being kidnapped. He also has to protect this child’s guardian. And in the process, Jax will have to protect his heart as well. There is intrigue, suspense and danger. Not to mention some things I didn’t see coming. Well, I’m off to read the second book. I hate cliffhangers so I need to get my resolution before I go crazy, lol.
This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
Jax left the Royal Guard to start a family with his pregnant fiancee, who he discovers it’s not his baby. He takes a job as a PI, but still misses his old job. Neela’s best friend Willa dies and makes her the legal guardian of her baby. Her friend had possibly gotten involved in something illegal and may be in danger. Jax goes undercover as a Manny to protect her and the baby, but keeps who he really is from Neela. Will she be able to forgive him when she finds out the truth, especially since she is falling for him? Will he be able to protect her? I can’t wait for the other half of this duet. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book. Patsy Sacco
This latest story in the saga of the Winston Isles Royals, introduces us to our Hero Jax, who left the Royal Guard and moved to London, for all the “wrong” reasons. He’s recruited to join Ariel’s Royal Elite Security company, after she left the Royal Guard for “technicality” reasons, and her bestie, Queen Penny, behind. Royal Elite’s first assignment is to protect baby Mayzie, who’s mother, Willa, died unexpectedly, and her new guardian and Willa’s best friend, Neela. We don’t yet know why Willa chose not to entrust her daughter to her parents, but she did leave a massive fortune to Neela and Mayzie, thus turning Neela into an heiress overnight. Overwhelmed with suddenly caring for a baby while her own personal life is in crisis, Neela heeds the advice of Willa’s lawyer to seek hired help. Unbeknownst to Neela, Jax and Ariel are more than just a nanny service. There’s undeniable attraction between the two, with Jax trying to do the right thing by not giving in to his desire to “shag his client”, especially since it’s against company policy, and he’s trying to find a way back to the Royal Guard.
Meanwhile, we get to revisit with Penny and Sebastian while they try to figure out what’s going on with his cousin, Tristan. Ariel is busy recruiting members for her new security team, and finally reveals a personal secret she’s kept from her best friend. In the other books in the series, we generally don’t see as many parallel story lines. Are they somehow all intertwined? Only time will tell, and I can’t wait.
I’m not usually a fan of books that require you to purchase a second book to get the conclusion, but for this author I’ll make an exception. Her books are always interesting and well worth the 2 books. This is the (start) of the story for Neela and Jax and does include characters from previous stories as well as a number of new characters that I can just see having their own future stories. Yes, like her other books, this includes an interesting storyline and a welcome does of lightheartedness along with the drama. There are a number of minor editing issues, such as incorrect words being used, but nothing that really affected my enjoyment – more of an annoyance. Overall, this was a really fun, enjoyable story with interesting characters that seem completely relatable and real. Eagerly looking forward to book 2.
I absolutely loved this first book in the new Royals spinoff series by Nana Malone. Protecting the Heiress begins the tale of Ariel’s new protection agency that she set up after leaving the Royal Guard, and focuses on Neela, a cryptologist, and Jax, a former member of the Royal Guard. Protecting the Heiress starts out with a bang, and it continues to take you on this awesome roller coaster of a ride that you will not want to get off!! Nana Malone’s brilliant writing keeps you hooked as you move through the story.
Neela, the cryptologist, has just broken up with her boyfriend/business partner, and has just become mom to an 18-month old baby girl whose mom passed away via mysterious circumstances. And although Neela does not realize just how mysterious those circumstances are, she does realize that she needs a nanny!! And that is where Jax comes into play. Jax has just agreed to work for Ariel based on the promise that she made to him, and in so doing, he becomes the hot manny to Neela’s baby girl. And once Neela and Jax meet face-to-face the spark is lit and the chemistry between these two jumps right off the pages.
Protecting the Heiress is an absolutely wonderful read with fantastic characters, and yes, you get to see many of the characters that you loved in the Royals series. Honestly, right now all I really need is Book 2 in this Duet, because the ending for this one was a real doozy!!!
Just when you think a tropical island couldn’t get any hotter Nana Malone continues with the Royal story line with the Heiress Duet. The first book is Protecting the Heiress and it’s hot enough to categorize it as a tropical heatwave. Once again Malone does not mess around with the women in these books, they are not the damsels in distress waiting to be rescued. These women are kicka*# and not afraid to show it. There is lots action both drama and sexual that will keep you turning the pages. Protecting the Heiress surprised me in the dynamics of the roles the characters had. The heiress wasn’t who I expected and the bodyguard that volunteered surprised me as well. Protecting the Heiress is heartwarming and something I think some of us can relate to on the “just at my wits end” side of things. Protecting the Heiress is 5-royal jewels. Keep a look out for the next in the Royal Elite duet Tempting the Heiress.
Ariel Scott has had to give up her dream job as a Royal guard to avoid being excommunicated by the Royal Council. With the support of the Crown Ariel has started her own security firm and needs to put together a team and she needs to do it quickly. With Jax Reynolds in tow, Ariel takes their first assignment back on Winston Ilse of protecting a woman who just obtained custody of her friend’s child. The stakes are high, and the team must protect not one life but two and one of them can’t even talk yet. Neela Wellbrook doesn’t know how to take care of Mayzie, the baby her best friend left her to raise, but she is determined to make sure she feels loved and cared for. Neela had no idea what her friend Willa had been up to recently, but things seem a little sketchy on all ends and Neela might just need the help of some of the most attractive look nannies she has ever seen.
The story is fine, it’s the cliffhanger that ruined book for me. Not thrilled that you have to purchase another book just to read the ending of this story.
In Protecting The Heiress by Nana Malone I was once again transported back to the Winston Isles. Let me tell you I freaking love these characters!!!
Jax is hired by Neela to be the Nanny to the baby she inherited from a friend of hers that passed away. These two have an instant attraction and chemistry between them. Sparks fly, sexual tension is scorching! I ADORED these two characters! And Ms Malone have us a PERFECT storyline that will keep you captivated until that last huge cliffhanger!
I’ve gotten use to the huge cliffhangers that Nana Malone gives us and are never let down by them. I’m desperate for a resolution and of course answers to what happens with Jax and Neela.
Another PERFECT story!
This book is a continuation of the Royals series, but you don’t have to read the other books to enjoy this one. It was great seeing all of the past characters we have come to love and honestly I thought this was going to be Ariel’s book.
The story starts with Ariel starting her own agency after leaving to Royal Guard. She recruits Jax to come work with her. You almost think they are going to be a couple even though there isn’t a huge attraction between them. That’s until Ariel gets one of her first cases protecting Neela and her best friends daughter after she gains custody. It’s an undercover assignment where Neela assumes she is hiring a nanny and not a body guard. Neela’s best friend was involved with some not so nice people and now there is a little girl who’s at stake.
As soon as you see Jax with the little girl your heart can’t help but melt. He’s awesome and as Neela refers to him as a buff Mary Poppins. Jax and Neela’s chemistry is off the charts. As they try to navigate new parenthood, attraction and danger all with a big secret standing between them.
This is the first book of a new duo and ends in a cliff hanger but as always Nana Malone leaves you wanting more.
I received an advanced copy of this book for a honest review.
Ariel Scott has just begun her own security company and has hired Jax Reynolds to work for her. Their first job requires Jax to become a “Manny” to a infant, Mayzie, whose mother, Willa, died under mysterious circumstances.
Neela Wellbrock was not expecting to be named guardian for Mayzie and she is overwhelmed with everything. Luckily Willa’s lawyer, Mr. Bipps has hired a manny for her while she gets used to everything.
Jax has a job to do and he is keeping the real reason he is the “manny” from Neela until they discover what happened to Willa and where some missing pieces are. Unfortunately Jax is having a hard time controlling his attraction to Neela and will his personal feelings interfere with his job?
What will Jax lose if Neela discovers the truth?
This was a great beginning to the duet and I anxiously wait for the second half!
I felt so bad for Neela as she was so surprised that Willa named her guardian to Mayzie. She has no idea what she was doing with a baby and she was still trying to continue working as well and things were not going well.
I thought it was awesome how well Jax did as the manny with so many siblings having young children he was able to step into the job quite easily. He was determined to do his first job working for Ariel professionally but he was soon battling his attraction to Neela and his comfort with Mayzie.
There is still so much mystery surrounding Willa’s death as no body was found and that several pieces from the gallery also seem to be missing. I am curious to see what is really going on as I have some guesses but need to wait for the next book! Also the relationship between Willa and her mom, Jane, seems to have had some issues and I need to know more.
The end was awesome and I can’t wait for the next book!!
New Royal Romance, Hot Royal Manny, Sexy alpha knight
I love Jax and Neela! After being burned, Jax is all
For the single life. When he is recruited by Ariel to join her new security firm, he is assigned as an undercover security guy/manny for Neela. Neela is still reeling from becoming the mother of her friends baby overnight, and has no idea what trouble is in store for her that her friend left behind. I can’t wait for the conclusion, because the ending has me on the edge of my seat!
