PROTECTING TANNER HOLLOW by Lynette Eason is the wonderful collection of four romantic suspense novellas centered in Tanner Hollow, North Carolina.
LETHAL HOMECOMING is the story of Kallie Ainsworth and Detective Nolan Tanner. Now that Kallie’s stepfather, Rick Goodlette, is dead, she can put the past and all his horrible memories behind her and come back home, a place she ran from a few years ago for everyone’s safety. However, she soon finds that not all dangers are behind her.
Bumping into the man she loved (the man that proposed to her on the 19th birthday and the man she had been forced to leave behind), not only brought back uneasiness but a lot of the old feelings that she thought she had gotten over. When the lurking danger seems to be getting closer, can Nolan, an officer of the law, keep the woman he’s always loved safe?
Seems Kallie’s Mom, Sharon, had some secrets of her own. Once they come to light will it help them figure out who is out to kill Kallie or are they the reason for the attacks? Are the attacks in the name of love or greed? Can Kallie and Nolan find their way back to each other and make up for lost time?
LETHAL CONSPIRACY is the story Jason and Lilly.
Firefighter Jason Tanner’s station was called out to help with a structure fire in Elk’s Corner, 45 miles away. They arrived and fate stepped in with Jason discover an unconscious woman in the car in the garage that was about to be consumed. Once she was safely out, resuscitate, on the way to the hospital and the fire tended to, he felt drawn to check up on her at the hospital. All clues pointed to an attempted suicide, but he just couldn’t believe it.
It was only after another attempt on her life in the hospital that he found out that Lilly was actually Lillian Maloney, daughter of Congressman Tyler Maloney – a man who had his eyes sit on the senate seat. He also learned that she had been on the run for her life after witnessing a murder when the so called suicide incident occurred. Jason calls in the only help he can trust, his brother Nolan, detective on the police force.
Can Jason and Nolan keep Lilly safe while trying to figure out who is out to get her? With no one else to turn to, they turns to Lilly’s Uncle Reggie, who was always more of a father to her than her own, for a safe place to land and for some help.
Will the dead bodies that start to pile up give them a clue to the murderer and the one stalking Lilly? Can evidence ever truly be made to disappear? Will evidence of past lies help them solve the case? Will it be the murderers own words that catch him? Will finding out who the mastermind is blow them all away? In the end can love heal all wounds?
LETHAL SECRETS is the story of Honor and Eli.
Honor McBride is running from a loan shark who threatened her kids if she didn’t come up with the money her dead husband, Lorenzo, owed. After almost being run off the road, run and hide were her only options. Traveling with her five kids (ranging from 5 to 13) in a worn out 1980 station wagon, lead her to Tanner Hollow and the house she had inherited from her great aunt Wilma Estes.
Arriving in town only to have a tire blow out, she meets Eli Marshall, owner of the local bank and part time preacher, when he comes to her rescue. He immediately feels the need to look after and protect this strong willed, independent woman with FIVE kids. Why wasn’t he running in the opposite direction?
Arriving at Wilma’s house, they find what would make even the strongest person stop in their tracks – a dirty house in great disrepair with a resident homeless man. Lot of hands get the work done, so they all dive in cleaning. Cleaning won’t get rid of Honor’s fear or the people trying to hunt her down to kill her.
With bullets flying and having her home set on fire, will Honor be able to keep her children safe? She ran once and now she has no money or any place else to run to. Made to feel welcomed in Tanner Hollow, has Honor finally found a place she can call “home”? Can she finally tell Eli the whole truth or will it be too late? Can Eli’s bruised heart take the chance to love again?
LETHAL AGENDA is the story about Claire Montgomery, supervisor for a forensics department and Derek St. John, officer with the Columbia, South Carolina police. They come face to face after Claire was attacked in her own home, but was able to get a call out to 911. Derek had come to visit Sheriff Nolan Tanner and was in his office when the call came in. Barely arriving in time to save her from certain death, the assailant got away. Why would anyone want to hurt Claire?
Having met once about a year ago, Derek and Claire still have an attraction for each other. Both lay it out there. Claire even talked about the horrors of her childhood making Derek want to protect her all the more from any more hurt and pain. They got their first clue on Claire’s attacker from Claire’s autistic neighbor, Levi, who related all the details of the person and getaway vehicle. When someone tries to blow up her house – with them in it, they go into hiding while exploring all avenues they can come up with.
Which do they need to figure out first – why does someone wanting to kill her or who has a motive to kill her? When leads just seem to lead them to another dead in, they decide to pool all resources calling in favors from friends, family and jobs. Can Derek and Nolan keep her safe? Will being somewhere they think is safe, lead them to more danger? Can Derek show Claire that she is worthy of love, family and happiness that she has only dreamed about?
Lynette Eason does a fabulous job in PROTECTING TANNER HOLLOW writing novellas that keep you quickly turning pages while on the edge of your seat. The romance are clean and sweet to read. You will be pulling for the good guys and cupid at the same time. Each novella is a complete story, but I loved the way the characters flowed over into some of the other stories. Highly recommend this book to anyone that loves an exciting, unpredictable suspense romance. I loved it and will definitely be checking out more books by this author.
Lynette Eason never disappoints with her well-written plot and high-powered, adrenaline-laced action and suspense and memorable characters. I love that these four novellas take place in the small town of Tanner Hollow, NC and are connected by the characters in each story.
Lethal Homecoming features Nolan Tanner, a detective in Tanner Hollow, and Kallie who is being targeted as she returns to town for her stepfather’s funeral. Lethal Conspiracy is about Jason Tanner, Nolan’s firefighter brother, and Lilly, a politician’s daughter, running from a killer. Lethal Secrets features Eli, the Tanner brothers’ cousin, and Honor who is a single mother of five running from those attempting to kill her and harm her children. These three novellas have previously been published separately under their titles. Lethal Agenda, a new novella, brings Derek St. John from the Blue Justice series into Claire’s life as she tries to figure out how her job as a forensic specialist is tied to the near death experiences she keeps having. The villains are unexpected and surprising in each story and each story reads like a full-length novel. If you enjoy romantic suspense, you will love this collection of novellas.
I received a copy of the book from Baker Publishing via Interviews & Reviews and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
This collection of novellas is like a sweet gift from author, Lynette Eason, to her readers!!
Protecting Tanner Hollow has all of the romantic suspense you could possibly want and more!! The stories are quick paced, the characters are charming, and I enjoyed every page-turning second. I think my favorite characters are the Tanner brothers. I liked that each novella wrapped up nicely and each subsequent one beyond the first gave a little sneak peek into the characters from earlier stories.
**I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was under no obligation to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.**
I’m not usually one to pick up novellas, but I love this bundle of four stories in one book! All of the stories are action-packed and I especially loved the audio version of this. I highly recommend to fans of suspense and romance – these novellas have both. You won’t be able to put the series down. I had to keep reading the next in line – they were all so good. Also I love that Derek from the Blue Justice series has a story in book four!
This set of novellas was a great read. I loved all of the stories, but my favorite was Lethal Secrets. The characters were all marvelous, they had solid plots and mysteries, and the stories connect together well.
Protecting Tanner Hollow by Lynette Eason is an exciting collection of four contemporary Christian suspense novellas. All are set in Tanner Hollow and entitled Lethal Homecoming, Lethal Conspiracy, Lethal Secrets and Lethal Agenda. The stories are all linked by the characters with the focus shifting in each one. Familiar faces from the Blue Justice series make an appearance too.
Lynette Eason is the queen of the suspense novel. She grabs the reader’s attention from the start as we hang on for the roller coaster read.
Each story has similar themes – corruption, greed, attempted murder. The law enforcement agencies work together to solve the crimes and protect the innocent. There is also the theme of taking care of the vulnerable.
The reader witnesses God’s hand on lives even when characters have moved away from God or are angry with God, God never leaves them. He works tirelessly on their behalf. Tanner Hollow is a small community with a big heart. Strangers are given huge welcomes and treated as family. The reader ‘feels’ the warmth emanating from the pages.
Lynette Eason has created a marvellous set of characters. She has perfectly captured the mannerisms of the children and a twenty year old with autism. The enthusiasm and knowledge with which he approached certain subjects was infectious.
Protecting Tanner Hollow is a fabulous read that I could not put down. I always adore Lynette Eason’s books.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
Queen of Romantic Suspense, Lynette Eason, skillfully draws you in to the drama and keeps the reader engaged until the end. Each of these four novellas is intense and action-packed. I love how the community of Tanner Hollow takes care of their own. They are beautiful examples of Christ’s love.
Recommend to those who enjoy inspirational, romantic suspense!
I won a copy. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
Four Romantic Suspense Novellas that will have you on the edge of your seat. Just because these are short stories doesn’t mean they are not full of suspense. Lynette Eason is a masterful story teller and I love her books. This one is no exception. I can recommend it to all Romantic Suspense fans.
All of your favorite Tanner Hallow novellas in one book, plus a bonus!
Lethal Agenda – I’m thrilled that we finally got the Derek St. John story. While usually wanting so much more, Eason’s newest novella had me feeling like I got just the right amount out of Derek and Claire. This is definite must read for anyone who loves the St. Johns (so, every Eason fan!!)
Lethal Homecoming – I love Nolan and Kallie’s love story! They are my favorite of the original Tanner Hallow novellas, so it was awesome to see them return in Lethal Agenda. This story definitely gets this book off on the right foot. Heart pounding suspense in just a few short pages is a true gift of Lynette’s.
Lethal Conspiracy – Jason and Lilly have a unique story. Lilly looks to have been trying to kill herself in a garage fire, but Jason (a firefighter) comes to her rescue, and believes her story. You might be turned off by this book’s case of “instant love”, but the secrets and questions will keep you guessing… and turning pages!
Lethal Secrets – Eli and Honor have a very sweet story. These characters are more tender than intense, but that doesn’t keep the level of heart pounding suspense from increasing. Independent and scared, Honor doesn’t need anyone’s help, but Eli steps in to offer it anyway, and slowly steals her heart. You will enjoy this book for many reasons, but the characters will stick with you for a long while.
* * My review is only for the final story in this collection, Lethal Agenda. * *
I was really excited to read Derek St. John’s story. He had this mysterious vibe to him, popping in and out of the Blue Justice series in stealth-like fashion.
Unfortunately, his story fell flat for me. Derek didn’t shine strongly on his own I was expecting him to. His romance with Claire also did not work for me.
The crime/suspense/mystery thread was pretty good and very entertaining. The inclusion of Levi, Claire’s autistic neighbor, was a nice addition!
If Lynette Eason set out to give fans of the St. John family one final, awesome reunion, she totally succeeded! Three years have passed since the events in Vow of Justice, the final book in the main series, and it was great to catch up with everyone. In fact, it was pretty awesome!
Even though Lethal Agenda didn’t wow me, I’m still a big fan of Lynette Eason and look forward to her new series! The first book, Collateral Damage, releases on January 7.
I do plan on reading the other novellas in this collection and look forward to visiting Tanner Hollow again as soon as time allows!

Protecting Tanner Hollow consists of four books with wonderful characters in law enforcement type careers. All four of the male protagonists are brave strong men protect the females while falling in love! Nolan Tanner is a police officer who is determined to protect his first and only love from murderers. His brother Nolan is a firefighter who is determined to find the political murderer that Lily witnessed. Eli Murphy wants to protect the new lady in town whose tire has a bullet hole. Detective Derek St. John works to keep Forensic Specialist Claire Montgomery alive! You will find each of these stories intriguing as someone is trying to murder the female protagonists! These four women are some of the bravest ladies you will meet! Some of the characters are in all four of the stories which begin in Tanner Hollow, North Carolina. i recommend Protecting Tanner Hollow to anyone who enjoys suspense! I received a complimentary ebook from NetGalley and Revell. This is my honest opinion.
Protecting Tanner Hollow
By Lynette Eason
Protecting Tanner Hollow is a collection of four novellas that take place in Tanner Hollow, which is a small tight-knit community. In each novella, someone’s past seems to have found them and their life is in danger. In a race against time, answers must be found before it is too late.
Now, for the most part, the stories in this collection have no link to Lynette Eason’s other books. But Lethal Agenda will be of particular interest to fans of her Blue Justice series as this one focuses on Derek St. John the only St. John sibling who wasn’t the main character in any of the Blue Justice titles. This one takes place about 2 to 2-1/2 years after the series conclusion.
This selection of novellas covers several years as one learns due to references to aspects of the characters’ lives. Nolan Tanner is the one constant throughout all four stories due to his police duties and his presence in investigating the various crime scenes. Each story is most definitely in the realm of romantic suspense so naturally, you can anticipate someone in peril and a potential romance if the perpetrator can be stopped.
Lethal Homecoming, Lethal Conspiracy, Lethal Secrets,, and Lethal Agenda can you sense a pattern here? Yes, LETHAL and in some cases, someone doesn’t survive. Long hidden secrets, betrayals, greed, jealousy, and manipulations all play a roll in these exciting page-turners. At less than 300 pages no one story is overly long so if you need a quick break from your day this the perfect excuse!
Come visit Tanner Hollow and if you survive the visit you just might want to visit again…
“Protecting Tanner Hollow” was another great read by Lynette Eason. This was a 4-book set. Each book was short and easy to read. I like that. In fact, I was able to read each book in a day! Lynette Eason continues to be one of my favorite romantic, suspense fiction authors. I loved how this book brought the St. John family back into the mix at the end. This is a family from another series of Lynette Eason’s.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good, clean, romantic suspense fiction. I have never been disappointed in Lynette Eason’s books, and I don’t think you will, either.
I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.
4 women discover danger & love in a small town…
I hadn’t read Lynette Eason for quite awhile but a few months ago I found one of her titles from last year and picked it up to read. To be honest, I enjoyed that book much more than the previous one I had read. Anyway, when I saw that her new book, Protecting Tanner Hollow, was actually a collection of novellas I thought it sounded like fun. Yes, murder and mayhem is fun…to read about…
I really did enjoy this novella collection. Each story had a connection, shared characters, etc. with the other ones in the book but they were each complete in their own right. I think one of my favorite things was that as the only author, Lynette Eason was able to keep her characters’ personalities consistent, which, can be difficult across a multi-author collection/series.
Sometimes it’s nice to sit down and read a story that is complete but is short enough to avoid most interruptions and finish in a single sitting. Protecting Tanner Hollow allows you to do just that, immerse yourself in a shorter story of danger, intrigue, and romance, in small town America, four times to be exact. So, if romantic suspense and novellas are your thing this just might be the book for you…
(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Tanner Hollow. The first story was compelling, followed by one with a hero that melted my heart by page two. Then came Eli and Honor and wow, the one kept me up late because I couldn’t sleep until I knew that their situation was all straightened out. And finally, we got to see Derek St John get his happily ever after (that shouldn’t be a spoiler).
I loved how quickly all these novellas gripped my attention and made me care, thus really forcing me to keep reading. A great read for fans of romantic suspense.
I loved this collection of novellas by Lynette Eason. I always look forward to Lynette Eason’s books, and it’s even more fun to see stories crafted around characters you meet in previous stories. Once again, she crafted stories that kept my attention and kept me guessing until the end. Even though they are shorter in nature, they are fully developed and full of emotion and action. Pick you your copy today!
I love all of the novellas but the last one was exceptional, because of it featuring Derek St John and you finally get his story (the other siblings are in her Blue Justice series). Along with getting to know Derek’s story you also get updates on the St John siblings. I loved Tanner Hollow and especially Nolan and Jason. Each Novella started with a bang and kept you in suspense to the end.
Protecting Tanner Hollow is a collection of four novellas by Lynette Eason. Three of them have been previously released in e-book format before while the newest one “Lethal Agenda” is a new addition to the collection. I really enjoyed the first three novellas and how they all feature reoccurring characters in the small town of Tanner Hollow, North Carolina. The plots had plenty of action and quick developing romances that fit well into the novella sphere of space. Getting to know the seven individual characters was nice and comforting. “Lethal Agenda” included Derek St. John, so if readers are familiar with Eason’s Code of Justice series than the last name should mean something. He is only child who did not have his story told in that series. While I adore Eason’s writings, “Lethal Agenda” seemed to move to quickly for my taste. In the preceding three novellas, the suspense took a while to come to its climactic moment. But in “Lethal Agenda,” the story felt like it just started, and Eason threw readers into the climactic moment within pages. The romance felt a little out of place too. As for the unveiling of the villain. I was a little confused. I had to go back and reread the climactic moment a couple of times to fully grasp what happened. Overall, Protecting Tanner Hollow by Lynette Eason is a must-have to add to any fans of Eason library. All but the last one excited me. If readers enjoy Eason’s novels, then I say pick this one up too.
I received a complimentary copy of Protecting Tanner Hollow by Lynette Eason from Revell Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.
I’m a fan of novellas and when you get one author doing a collection of four that all tie together, it’s just icing on the cake!
In Protecting Tanner Hollow, Lynette Eason introduces readers to the small NC town and several of its residents. But this community seems to be a magnet for danger.
Three of the books in this collection were previously released as ebooks by Eason but the fourth story is brand new and conveniently wraps up the Blue Justice series with the last remaining St. John sibling visiting Tanner Hollow.
I really enjoyed how the books connected to each other and how a character introduced in one story becomes a lead in another one, giving this book a cohesiveness that is sometimes missing in a collection from multiple authors.

“Protecting Tanner Hollow” is a four part romantic suspense novellas with the town of Tanner Hollow as the setting. Each novella is connected by reoccurring characters, mainly Deputy/Sheriff Nolan Tanner and his firefighter brother Jason.
“Lethal Homecoming” – This introduces Nolan Tanner to the reader when his former girlfriend Kallie Ainsworth returns following the death of her abusive step-father. Nolan is there to stop an attempt in her life. All of his old feelings come back as he tries to investigate who would want to kill her.
“Lethal Conspiracy” – Introduces Jason Tanner who saves the life of Lillian Maloney who is first believed to have tried to commit suicide. But, as he soon learns, someone is trying to kill her despite covering up another murder.
This novella also introduces Crime Scene Technician Claire Montgomery, another character who will be featured in the fourth (4th) novella (“Lethal Agenda”).
“Lethal Secrets” – The third novella involves Nolan’s cousin, Eli Murphy who stops to change the tire on a station wagon belonging to single mom of five (5) kids, Honor McBride. Honor is running to save her life and the lives of her kids. Eli, despite swearing off women, helps Honor rebuild her life while keeping her safe.
“Lethal Agenda” – The conclusion of the Tanner Hollow saga involves Claire Montgomery, introduced in “Lethal Conspiracy”. From the outset, Claire is almost killed by someone who took her work personally. The attack is thwarted thanks to the quick work of Detective Derek St. John who already had a previous run-in with her.
This set of novellas draws you in from the first chapter of each one and takes the reader on a fast-paced read. How fast? Each one is roughly 85-100 pages; enough to tell a quick and concise story without overwhelming the reader or overly complicated plots. They’re easy, half-day reads or a day read for the entire book.
Eason knows how to get the reader hooked and keep them hooked until the end of the story which can wrap up faster than expected.
While sold under Revell’s label which is primarily Christian Reads, Eason doesn’t preach or “brow-beat” religious tones in either of the stories. Some readers might appreciate the light Christian themes; others might find it lacks.
I thoroughly enjoyed the novellas, which is a surprise because I don’t usually read them (and I don’t know why I don’t; probably don’t know enough about them or find interesting ones to read). I honestly couldn’t rate which “Tanner Hollow” story was my favorite due to the fact they were short and I enjoyed each one. The “theme” of each story was different, yet well connected.
I’d love to re-visit Tanner Hollow again to see how everyone is doing, and this format would be perfect. Concise and exciting. Perhaps a “Return to Tanner Hollow”, with another four (4) novellas might be a future idea for the author.
Recommended for those who like short, concise stories in a series with a “clean read” tone to them.
