REVIEW:
As in the Blurb above Laura Erickson believed in Happily Ever After until her ex showed her that he wasn’t hers, this is book #4 in the Indianapolis Eagles Series “Protecting her Heart” is the continuation on some of the members of an NHL hockey team. This is the story of Laura Erickson, she’s the assistant GM as well as the daughter of the owner of the Indianapolis Eagles, and defenseman Mark Lee. Laura is regrouping from a bitter breakup and divorce, Mark has been waiting for her and is going to show her he’s her one and only Prince. Their love story is so heartwarming, so sweet. I loved the way that Mark was patient and committed to his task to win Laura’s heart. This wasn’t a story that was heavy in angst. I can say that no one tried to come in between them. Just a heartwarming and sweet love story.
Another good read from Samantha Lind, can’t wait for the next book in the series coming out this month. Let’s see if Samantha can keep up the great characters and the perfect story lines.
Thank you Samantha Lind!
Laura has been leary of getting involved again after her divorce. Mark has been the friend waiting for her to be ready. These two have great chemistry. The things they go through helping a child fulfill his last wish is heartwarming and heaetbreaking. I loved seeing their relationship grow. This was a good read. I look forward to more in this series.
Have the tissues ready with this one. Out of this whole series this was my favorite one. It was amazingly written with so many different emotional moments . It is a book you won’t want to put down . There was a part of this book that I cried I’m not ashamed to admit it. Just a touching story line. I absolutely love Mark and Laura. Laura is dealing with a lot when she first meets Mark so she keeps telling him no. Then she finally decided to give it a go. Doing that changes her life and his. Their chemistry once together is off the charts hot. I absolutely love these two together. Having the story line with Brayden made this book amazing. I absolutely loved this part of the book. So very sweet yet heart wrenching. I do have to say the ending let me a little upset. I’m so hoping we get more from this couple. Highly recommend reading this one.Samantha blew me away with this one. Loved it.
I love hockey player romance. Hockey players are just a different breed of man. Mark is no exception he is the perfect man, sweet, loving, caring and just all around great guy. These are well-written characters with a great story. This story is all about the love between Mark and Laura, the friendship and relationship they build. Lots of steam and heat was included. I need the next book right now to see what happen with their quest. Great Book!!
Expect the unexpected when reading this book and bring plenty of tissues. This story will bore into the depths of your heart and come at you with love from all sides. It will bring all the feels your want and some you didn’t expect. This author writes believable stories for everyday people. They leave a mark on your soul as well as your heart and pack a punch.
Mark and Laura are people you want to know and be around. I don’t do spoilers and as much as I want to talk about this book it would be unfair to the author. You can always read the blurb for more information. What I can say is read this book you won’t be disappointed. It delivers on so many levels. It’s a fast read. I read it in one sitting. Like I said bring tissues. I can’t wait to see what this author writes next.
Oh this book!! It left me feeling all the feels. Laura is kinda bada$$ if you ask me. She’s the assistant GM of the Indianapolis Eagles and daughter of the owner. She’s also in the middle of a divorce. Enter Mark who has been traded to the Eagles. Gah! They have such great chemistry and Mark knows just how to show Laura that not all men are like her ex. Grab some tissues and one-click this book!
Laura Erickson works in the family business. Mark Lee knows how to treat a lady – especially when he wants to get to know her better. He also seems to take her feelings into account. At the start of their story there are lots of conversations going on and some of the scenes don’t leave anything to the imagination – and no I don’t mean that. It’s as if the reader is a third wheel during date night.
One thing that will pull at your heartstrings, and maybe your purse strings as well, is the inclusion of a story that revolves around the Make A Wish Foundation. Now that the beginning of the holiday season is upon us, why not put some money aside to help a worth cause – it just may make you and someone you don’t even know a little happier. But just be careful because there will be a tissue moment within that storyline.
This is a book that’s very romantic and has a big heart. I like that the author used the first person point of view. It gave me some incite into what our main characters were thinking. At no time did I feel that I had to read the first three books before attempting to read Laura and Marks story. But I’m kind of curious as to whether or not Laura appeared at any time within those books – since she seems to be an important part of the Eagle family. I liked how the author treated her Epilogue. It seemed as if Mark was talking directly to the reader but when I got to the end of it I felt a little disappointed – I wanted to know what happened. It means that I will have to be prepared to read book five that will be out this coming Winter.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
I love hockey romances and Samantha Lind’s Indianapolis Eagles series has become a favorite of mine. This one was a little slow for me, so I didn’t love it as much as the previous book. Overall, still a good read and I will definitely continue the series.
“I love you too.”
“Say it again.”
“I love you, Mark.”
“I love you too, Princess. Always.”
What a great story! I loved these characters – how strong Laura was in holding off on Mark’s advances until she felt she was ready. How patient, yet diligent, Mark was in his pursuit of her. No drama. No angst. No one trying to come in between them. Just a really heartwarming story.
Laura Erickson thought she’d found it. The One. Her fairytale hero. Boy, was she ever wrong. Instead of facing a challenge together, and becoming closer to her, he did the complete opposite. He was sure no prince – he turned out to be a frog. Still struggling through her divorce she’s no where near ready to jump in to the dating game. But Mark Lee might just make her change her mind. Can she take the chance? Can she drop her heart into his hands like a ceremonial puck on the ice and trust that he’ll catch it? Or, will it end up splintered again?
Mark Lee was drawn to her from day one. She’s beautiful. She’s smart. And she keeps turning him down. He’ll wait. All the best things are worth it, right? He’ll show her what love is supposed to be and that he’s the one that can deliver. She’s his and he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her heart.
This was a great addition to this series! If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for?
I absolutely loved this story from Samantha Lind. This is book four in the series and they just keep getting better and better. Amazing characters and supporting characters, awesome and believable story line, emotional and super sexy. You will not put this book down once you start reading it!! If you haven’t started this series, what are you waiting for?!
This is the fourth book in the series and they just get better. What i love so much about this series is the feel of family and the touching moments. This one hit me right in the heart. With Laura and Mark’s journey. I just loved how Mark treated Laura. That’s what made him top book boyfriend material. Besides being a hunky hockey player he’s a great guy. There is one part in this book that had me balling me eyes out. This is a make you feel good story. It’s definitely one I recommend.
When it comes to hockey romance, it doesn’t get much better than Ms. Lind’s Indianapolis Eagles. While I have enjoyed the series from the beginning, I swear it just gets better and better as it goes! This was certainly no exception.
I adore these characters. If you have been reading the series in order, there has been quite the lead up to this story. I absolutely love the way Mark saw their potential from the beginning and was willing to wait for Laura to catch up. And when she did, was it worth the wait! Not only did I love the way their friendship flourished, their chemistry was off the charts! There was such a sweetness between them, but they knew how to bring the heat!
I love the way this series is written. The characters are real and complex, and the hockey is more than just a backdrop. If you aren’t a fan of hockey, you will be able to easily follow along with these stories, but if you are a fan, you will appreciate the realistic way in which it is included. I love getting to see the team together and following up with each of the couples from the previous books. I love seeing the friendships that develop both in the team and with their significant others. This book is the perfect blend of sports, romance, and friendship. I couldn’t love it more!
Samantha Lind has been a go to favorite for me for a while now. Her writing always guarantees a sexy, sweet, and swoony HEA that never fails to grab me and keep me hooked and Protecting Her Heart is no exception. I flew through the pages of this book absolutely in love with Mark and Laura! I read every page in one sitting.
Mark is one seriously sweet and seriously sexy hockey star! The instant attraction he has to Laura is full of heat, but the patient and caring man he is will really steal your heart. He’s perfection! Laura is just as drawn to Mark when they first meet, but still recovering from a divorce and not ready to jump in to anything. I love how these two were so real when it came to starting their relationship but also at the same time being insanely sweet giving that warm and fuzzy happiness I always get when reading instalove without actually being instalove and keeping things true to life.
I gave this Book a rating of 5 ’s

>-< >–< >–< >–< >–<>–< >–< >–< >–< >–< >–< >–< >–< What I liked/Didn’t Like: Laura & Mark’s story was riveting. Laura a divorcee and Mark a hockey player for the team Laura’s father owns. See a potential problem here? Yeah so did I. Even though Laura’s dad is a might protective of his daughter he only wants what's best for her. A well-written storyline that is sweet at the same time it is riveting and well worth reading. I love how the author ties all the books together and you get to check in with characters from the other books in the series.
Samantha Lind hits it into the net with PROTECTING HER HEART the fourth book in the Indianapolis Eagles series. This is the story of Laura Erickson, who is the daughter of the owner of the Indianapolis Eagles, and defenseman Mark Lee.
I like that the story started two years prior when Mark was traded to the team, and Laura’s divorce was pending. The two were attracted to each other, but the timing wasn’t right for them. They were friends for two years before Laura finally agrees to go on a date with him.
Samantha Lind does an exceptional job with her characters. I like that Laura played college hockey and works for the Eagles. She loves hockey and the team. She is devoted and hardworking. She will make an amazing team owner one day. Mark is a great guy. He is patient and kind. He is the perfect person to mend Laura’s heart.
I enjoyed the plot. The story spans over a lot of time. It is nice seeing the characters progress. I think I cried for just about every Make-A-Wish foundation scene. I love how Laura and the team went above and beyond to make, Braydon Macentire’s dream becomes a reality. It broke my heart for what that family had to go through. PROTECTING HER HEART was skillfully written and heartfelt. I‘m glad that Laura got a second chance at her fairytale life. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Indianapolis Eagles Series
Ms. Lind writes the sweetest hockey series ever! Every book in this series just gets better and better!
Protecting Her Heart is the story of Laura and Mark.
Laura is the owners daughter and is getting over her divorce. I applaud the fact that Ms. Lind had Laura really take time for herself after her divorce. To find herself and her footing in the world before she decided to go back into the dating world.
Mark is a new player on the team. He has held a flame for Laura since he first met her on his first day in the organization. His patience is astounding! I loved how he told her that their relationship will be set at her pace! He would wait forever for her, but luckily he didn’t have to wait quite that long.
The secondary story is so moving! It made me misty to think of that family and what they were going through.
This story really takes you into the world of hockey! It shows you the ins and outs of both the players world and the administration.
If you are looking for a angst free, sweet romance. Look no further! Samantha Lind is the author you want to stalk!!
I really get into books where you get to read about the characters and their relationship without the drama. It’s nice to be able to get that in a book sometimes. Mark and Laura had a connection, and kept expecting a turn in the plot that just didn’t come. I liked that. A LOT.
Mark wanted to start dating Laura for a while, but she was hesitant to move forward from the past. When she does give in, things just click. They both were just great people, and it’s such a wonderful story.
I voluntarily reviewed this book and I hope you like it as much as I did.
Laura had known Mark for two years ever since he was traded to the Indianapolis Eagles, her family’s hockey team. She will always remember when they first met because she thought he was handsome, polite and a true gentleman. She finally agreed to go on a date with him because she was now in a place where she was ready to find love again and after the wonderful time they had at the charity event, she hoped this would be the start of something special. Being friends with Mark made it easier for her to trust her heart with him and she wanted to believe that she could have a second chance at love.
Mark had been interested in Laura since the day he met her when he signed with the team. For the past two years he had been trying to convince Laura to go out with him, and she finally said yes!! He thought she was beautiful and loved her smile, her work ethic and her zest for life. He was excited about their first date and wanted everything to be perfect. This was his dream come true and if he was lucky, maybe Laura would feel the same way about him, and he wanted to prove to her that she could trust him and that his feelings were genuine.
Sometimes your soulmate comes into your life when you aren’t ready to commit but over time, as you get to know each other, friendship grows into a love that is everlasting. Laura deserved a happy ending and Mark was the gold at the end of her rainbow. Samantha Lind has given us a romantic and heartfelt story that made me laugh, cry, and always wish for a happy ending.
Love Mark and Laura. I especially love when a man can tell who his soul mate is from the beginning. It took Mark two years to finally get the yes he wanted and boy was it worth the wait. Mark is exactly what Laura needed to trust again and mend her broken heart.
This is the 4th book in this phenomenal series, and is Mark and Laura’s story. Laura is the daughter of the Eagle’s owner, and Mark is a new recruit to the team. There is an instant attraction between these two but Laura is broken by her divorce, and Mark is determined to convince her that not all men are like her ex, and he will love and protect her unconditionally. This is a beautifully written story which has me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more in this awesome series!
