LauraI believed in the fairytale. The Happily-Ever-After.The “till death do us part” fantasy little girls grow up believing in.Unfortunately for me, my happy ending was divorce, and learning to find myself all over again.I was done with men and relationships, or so I thought, until a stubborn hockey player was determined to show me what love could really be.But could I fall for the fairytale a … be.
But could I fall for the fairytale a second time, and trust that he would protect my heart?
Mark
From the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew she was made for me.
She was broken and I was determined to put her back together again.
I was here to prove she could have that fairytale love story after all.
To show her someone else can protect her heart and love her unconditionally.

Protecting Her Heart by Samantha Lind is such a fantastic book! I am truly been enjoying reading this series. This is the 4th book in Samantha Lind’s Indianapolis Eagles series. You have to read the previous books in this series to follow along with this book.
In Protecting Her Heart by Samantha Lind brings the life the romance of Laura Erickson who is the owner of the Indianapolis Eagles daughter, and Mark Lee who is a defensive player for the Indianapolis Eagles. Mark has been trying to get a chance to date Laura since he has been transferred to the team two seasons ago. Laura is leery of getting into a new relationship because she had been married before and has now been divorced for over a year. Mark finally wears Laura down when she accepts a date to be his plus one at a charity event and a dinner date. The chemistry between the pair is simmering hot. They shared hot and passionate kisses after dinner, Mark feels like he can win Laura’s heart.
Will Mark win Laura’s heart? Will Laura take a chance and surrender her heart to Mark? Will Laura and Mark get their happy ever after? You will have to read Protecting Her Heart by Samantha Lind to find out!
This book has plenty of romance, sports, and love scenes. I couldn’t put my kindle down while reading this book! Make sure to grab a copy of Protecting Her Heart by Samantha Lind! You won’t be disappointed! I will definitely be reading more books by this author!
Such a GREAT love story!
I very much enjoyed reading this book. I loved the way Mark treated Laura throughout. It gave her the courage to open up again.
Mark sees Laura and instantly wants her, but when she isn’t ready, he keeps persisting, but also shows her patience. He makes it clear he will there for her.
There is quiet a few emotional points in the book that had me reaching for the tissue box. Keep them close by when you read!
All in all, I loved their connection with each other, makes for an easy read. I would recommend this book to any one.
🙂
Protecting her heart is another amazing story in the Indianapolis Eagles series and I have to say that this one Samantha Lind brought her A game because she really showed how you can have a second chance of love after divorce. This is so important because women think that after divorce there is nothing else because they are so hurt but no Samantha shows us that yes love can come when you least expect it.
Laura and Mark make an amazing couple. Laura has been hurt and she is now divorced but when she meets Mark she sees that not all men are bad and she decides to give him a chance. Mark is determined to show Laura that not all men are bad and that he will be everything she needs and wants. He will take care of her and love her they way she wants and needs to be.
This is another amazing read in this series and I need more! I love these hardcore hockey players on the ice but lovers in the bedroom!
“Will he be worth it? 4 stars”
Mark has been trying to convince Laura to give him a shot since he came to Indianapolis two years ago and she’s finally given him the green light. He is willing to do whatever he has to to keep her. Laura thought she knew love but when her marriage shattered, she realized she didn’t. she took the time to find herself again before caving in to Mark’s advances. What will happen when she finally sees him?
These two were probably my favorite couple out of this series so far. I liked the idea of Laura not jumping into a relationship until she knew she was ready. Mark is a total sweetheart and exactly what she needed. There is one part of this book that totally got me in the feels and I’m warning you it may make you tear up if you dive in to Protecting her Heart.

She was coming off of a bad relationship and trying to work on her own healing. He is the new super star for the team and has set his eyes on her as the prize. This isn’t one of this author’s high angst reads but it doesn’t stop it from being a good read. The characters are drool worthy and yes he uses a gentle hand with her and yup they are passionate together. This is just a little slower and a little more laid back than we are used to from this author which once again doesn’t make it a bad read it’s actually quite good. Can’t wait for more of this series of standalone reads.
Mark and Laura’s story is book 4 of the Eagles series but definitely can be read as a standalone.
I was excited for Mark and Laura to get together. In the other books in this series, you’ve seen Mark’s interest and pursuit from the other character’s POV so I was hoping to finally get a first hand account of what that pursuit looked like.
After the prologue, the book fast forwards two years. Laura and Mark have established a friendship that eventually grows into something more. I would have loved to see more of what happened in the two years between the prologue and the first chapter. I didn’t see or feel the friendship develop, I was only told that it did. I really like Mark and Laura but I wanted more conflict or more meat to their story that would have really invested me in their characters.
*This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*
Protecting her Heart is book four in the Indianapolis Eagles series, about a NHL hockey team. While part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone. This was a good read, though nothing that sucked me in or made me really want to keep reading; or need to read the rest of the series.
Laura is our lady in love, and ready for a second chance at love after a failed marriage. She’s a believer in happily ever after, but hasn’t had the opportunity to experience it yet. Mark has been waiting for the right person to share his life with.
Both characters were good. In small, common, everyday ways, they were good people. Laura is a woman working in a man’s world; but she doesn’t let that get to her. She’s strong in her work ethic and a kind person. At the beginning of the book when we meet her, she’s coming out of a crappy marriage. So she takes her time to rediscover herself and her passions and puts off Mark’s advances. As a new trade to the Eagles franchise, Mark is eager to find his place in the team, and find a place that makes it feels like home. He’s hoping Indianapolis will be that place. Meeting Laura on day one seems like a good start, despite Laura’s reticence. I think my favorite part of both characters is their big hearts; they work to make others comfortable and happy.
The book starts off a bit boring heat wise. Yes, Mark likes Laura, and Laura has some feelings for Mark…but she puts him off, and months go by, then years. Part of me understands her slow actions, but I like a bit more speed in my romance novels. Mark is a gentleman, and waits; Laura’s feelings for Mark remain after time. So when dating finally starts, there is chemistry and the sparks do fly. They are generous lovers and courteous to each other.
I love hockey romance, but this book was hard to keep reading. It was a very slow start, both romance wise and hockey wise. I wasn’t pulled into the characters lives at all, nor the hockey drama that is usually found in this trope. The writing was well done, with good character descriptions and dialogue. I especially loved the care given to the Make a Wish idea, which was my favorite part of the book, and was what kept me reading the book.
I feel a little blah about this book. Nothing stood out as a reason to keep reading, or to read the beginning of the series or read the forthcoming books. It was a little too good, too much went right for the characters, without a huge amount of strife for them personally. There wasn’t a big climax for Laura and Mark to get through, at least for me.
Favorite Quotes:
“You can’t keep all the boys away from me. Well, actually, please keep the boys away. I just want a man in my life. No boys needed at this point.”

I have to say right off that this book requires tissue and not just one or two but several.
I have loved every book in this series but I think this one is my favorite. Samantha put all the feels into this book from sweethearts to life altering meetings and friendships that have an unusual beginning but touch the hearts of everyone involved.
This book is so much more than Laura and Mark’s courtship and love affair that has a definite HEA as Mark slowly lets Laura see the person he is and offers her the glue to mend her broken heart.
I loved meeting Brayden and his family even though it took several tissues to dry the tears. What a team the Indianapolis Eagles are when it comes down to the wire especially Mark! Not only is he perfect for Laura but his heart is as big as all outdoors and it makes me smile to know Laura finally gave in to his requests for a date. Good things are worth waiting for.
This book…..well, lets just say, I had trouble keeping the tears at bay. This is definitely one that you are gonna need tissues for. The story itself is a beautiful love story, but there are parts, I’m still getting choked up about, even after finishing the story.
Mark is a pro hockey player, recently traded to the Indianapolis Eagles. He loves his job, his life, his team, but something is missing. He isn’t sure what, but he is going to find out. Big changes bring him to a new city, and lead to a few surprises! Laura is the one who keeps the Eagles running, behind the scenes. Hockey is her life, it’s in her blood. She has tried love, and it left her disappointed, divorced. Alone. But she still has her hockey family, her job. When Mark comes to Indy, she catches his eye and he tries to make his move, but she isn’t ready. Mark’s patience, and persistence, sure make for and interesting story!
There is so much love, support, and emotion in this one book, I couldn’t help but fall in love with these characters. The connection between them was immediate, and lasting. And HOT! This is an easy read, but an emotional one. Just make sure you have tissues handy!
