After a mission gone bad, Navy SEAL Keanu Kalen is forced into an unwanted vacation. He finds himself in the arms of a gorgeous woman in the sun and sand in Mexico thinking he doesn’t have a care in the world. That is until his superiors inform him that she’s a terrorist and he’s ordered to bring her back to the states. When Ainsley Emerson let her twin sister take her place in a scuba dive, she … scuba dive, she had no way of knowing that would be the last time she’d see her sister again. Nor could she predict that months later, she’d be accused of treason. After waking up in Mexico, broken and without identification, she begs a total stranger to help her get back to the states so she can prove her innocence.
When Keanu’s plan to bring Ainsley in ends in tragedy, he seeks the help of old friends, only to find out he is now considered a traitor to his country.
Keanu and Ainsley will have to work together to prove they are innocent of all crimes and in the process, they will uncover a sinister plan with an unlikely twist that will change their world forever.

Really enjoyed the twists and turns in this book. Just started reading books by Jen Talty. Like her style! Will definitely find more of her books to read.
There’s lots of action, betrayals, surprises and truths. Keanu Kalen is tasked along with his team to pick up Ainsley because they think she’s a traitor. But He’s set up again, his team is killed and they are on the run. Of course Wolf and Mozart to the rescue and Tex doing his thing. HEA
A perfect mix of mystery, suspense, and romance. Keanu and Ainsley must hide from the authorities, find out who is behind why Ainsley is wanted for treason, and dodge the bullets while somehow finding some time to develop a relationship. Fast paced, lots of action, got my attention right away and I never put the book down (other than a snack break anyway) until I read the last page. Characters and story are believable. Recommend this book and the series. The next book, Protecting Clover, is just as good as this one.
Action from beginning to end as Navy SEAL Keanu Kalen realizes that the woman he rescued and spent time with, Ainsley Emerson, may be a terrorist. Now he has been instructed to bring her in, but danger seems to stalk them. Her twin sister was killed in a scuba diving incident and her father killed while driving intoxicated. Her father did not drink and Ainsley was supposed to be the one on the boat. When Keanu’s team is targeted in what he believes was a setup, Keanu and Ainsley go on the run. With the help of his friends Brodie, Harper, Mozart, Wolf, and Tex will he be able to keep Ainsley safe until they can discover who is setting them up for the kill? A wonderful visit with former characters and unexpected twists that will keep you guessing. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
I love Jen Talty’s books, and this didn’t disappoint. Navy Seal Keanu Kalen is tasked with bringing a terrorist to justice. The terrorist, Ainsley Emerson, pleads with Keanu that she was set up. The story brings to light the betrayals and twists. I was glad to see their HEA.
This quick little read is filled with all kinds of twists, miss-directions, and double-crosses. I’ll admit, it took me a moment to orient myself to the story because it feels like it kind of starts part way in. The details I thought I was missing are later shared in remembrances, so have no fears that the story is incomplete. Keanu begins this book with a lock on jerk behavior. He’s bitter and judgmental and I was concerned that we might not see him change. I shouldn’t have worried. The author has never written a hero I haven’t loved by the end. Ainsley is a trusting soul caught in one heck of a predicament. My heart immediately went out to her. I liked the way these two constantly pushed each other to be better, and the ending they get is utterly adorable.
The concept of the story-line is excellent; the action is continuous; and, the characters are involved throughout the book. That being said, I wish there had been a bit more proofing so closest wasn’t closet and sentences weren’t so tangled. The twin sisters idea was excellent as they were so different just as siblings are different in every family. Not all sisters or brothers get along. We, as parents, do our best and there isn’t a “do-over” as when they are raised, it’s a done deal. Ainsley and Janet were so different, unknowingly shared the same man, loved the parents, but, in the end, one was an honest woman and the other worked on terrorist activities. It’s a good read with sensual scenes and therefore meant for adults.
Well written and very enjoyable book with a lot of action, maybe went a bit too fast in places as I got a bit confused with who was who and what happened when at times. However, this did not detract from it being a good read which was hard to put down. The relationship between Ainsley and Keanu is a complex one, most definitely fantastic chemistry between them, but a relationship which started with a lot of deceit/lies between them, which leads to a great deal of mis-trust and consequences which could be fatal. I’m looking forward to seeing this series develop.
